1 thing I hate about diners and first thing that comes to thought is always the hash browns the eggs the potatoes the aftertaste of bad cleaning 😒 ... AMBROSIA thank you 😊 I am impressed maybe I chose a great day but that was a memorable breakfast for me I always have to try French toast everywhere I end up and that was a significantly sized single slice of perfectly toasted French toast well done but the best part was I ate well I gave AMBROSIA a swing and it connected I left the restaurant feeling full and not like I chased my food with a cup of grease or whatever that taste always is everywhere else ... I enjoyed the waiter my man was energetic and his ability to maintain positivity in a hectic environment was superb 👌 great job all around AMBROSIA is one of my favorite desserts and that's why I stopped and I'll be 💯 ... it's was nothing shy of a treat... BIG PROBS AND THANKS GUYS YUMMMMMM
We stopped in for lunch. Burger was really good and cooked to the right temp. The sweet potato fries were not my favorite. Got the Oreo cheesecake for dessert which was good but more of an airy cheesecake. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. Would go back on our next trip to Lake George
Everything was amazing!!! Nice prices for everything. I got a traditional grilled cheese with fries. I loved both of them! Prices may seem a bit expensive but you will get a lot of food and at least a snack for the next day. It also came out within probably 10 minutes with 3 of us there, service was good. This was probably one of if not the best diner I've ever had in New York! Try this for a meal please, I'm begging you.
Hello me and my Family dined at the Ambrosia diner in 7-2025 and I would like to say a few thing about our first time dinning at the Ambrosia Diner . First this is a older style diner that could use a little TLC updating but the services and food quality was outstanding . I was amazed on how large each portion of the meal was . Not only was my wife impress but my kids love everything they received . The prices were very reasonable and I would recommend this diner as a five star restaurant .
This place is awesome! My Mom and I stopped for lunch today. It was our first time going there. It was busy for a Saturday but the service was fast and the food was great! The portions are large and everything we had was really tasty. We are definitely going back when we are in the area.
It is a classic diner that has great food and the nostalgic atmosphere. The open faced meatloaf sandwich was delicious and filling.
What a great diner to visit! Breakfast was extremely good! It is a busy place so be prepared especially on weekends to wait a little bit for a table but well worth it.
Its your run of the mill diner fare but its off the beaten path for the area, great food and awesome staff. Perfect for the Lake George area. Kind of a hidden gem for locals😁
Hadn't been here in three years. Too expensive and very unfriendly. Well they fixed and changed all that. We went there twice this week and were very pleased both times. Kylie for making a great change.
Excellent fast service, friendly and extremely knowledgeable waitress who knows what she is doing (comming from a diner owner who continuously strives for Fast knowledgeable service with 0 mistakes!) I love this place. We caught an extremely satisfying dinner here on the way back from tubing all day in the Adirondack's. Must go for your classic diner meals, Excellent cooked NY strip steak open faced sandwich, huge onion rings, delicious chili, Excellent thick burgers char broiled, a French onion soup topped with melted goodness (cheese 😋), and a perfectly cooked lean corned beef Reuben with crispy fries. The coleslaw was creamy and spot on, crispy cabbage, perfectly blended with their recipe of mayo and other seasonings. Do your self a favor and go, you will love it!
Classic diner ambiance. Clean. I'm in food over 25 years - undoubtedly - the baked goods, roasted turkey, and soup all made from scratch.
A real highlight on our - my daughters and mine - road trip through the US north east. Our waitress Amber was a real 10. Considered, friendly but at the same time fast and determined. Their potatoe salad is a dream. Needed a bit more salt but the best potatoe salad I have ever eaten in the US. My Pulled Pork sandwich was awesome. My daughters Cesar Salad was how Cesar's is supposed to be. The topping is the dessert menue. We strongly recommend the "Red Velvet" cake. It's just devine. I absolutely recommend you go there and if you have Amber as your host, you are lucky.
Food was good. Cheesecake was amazing. Amber, our server, was a doll. Recommend.
The desserts are PHENOMENAL! I went three times over the course of my vacation and tried several! The carrot cake was definitely my favorite and to die for! The gentleman running the counter was very sweet and had great suggestions! I can’t wait to try the chocolate dipped cheesecake he suggested next time i visit :)!
Really great dinner and right off 87, super great place when traveling on the highway. Went twice, on the trip up to Plattsburg and on the way back home.
Great service and rite off the hiway bathroom is spotless. I have to say brovo, we will be back 10 out of 10. Last night, we stopped at the diner as well. I do not have pictures, but we got nachos. That we're amazing. My fish n chips, the Cod, was nice and flakey. The wife had pulled pork sandwich. That was wonderful. Oh, I definitely recommend it. we will definitely be back again.
Absolutely amazed at the quality. Scratch made without a doubt. Turkey roasted, then sliced for the open-faced turkey dinner. The matzo ball. My first experience, truly, can I say, ethereal?! My daughter says the fettuccine Alfredo was phenomenal. My hubby's chicken scampi over rice? Delicious! Makes potato were like hand smash!!! Gravy omg. Even the bread under the turkey, held up! Not soggy!!! After such a long day of travel, work, everything going wrong? This was the perfect way to begin our weekend vacation!!! Thank you Ambrosia Diner! Where have you been all our lives???!! 11.8.25 Again, another incredible experience. This time with 2 of our grandchildren. We were treated like royalty. Process area great, portions are out of this world.
I like diners. They usually don't put on aires and serve a wide variety of dishes. This is a good one. Prompt, friendly service, good portions, decent prices in this time of merchants raising prices just to stay afloat. They don't have to because they are busy providing good meals and have people coming back. If I can't decide what to eat or where to go, and am tired of spending a bundle of time and money on dinner this is my fall-back place in the 'dacks.
I personally do not like to eat an diners. HOWEVER, Ambrosia Diner is my acception. I LOVE this place. The atmosphere was had lots of 70’s/car racing/diner vibes(which I love). I had the Philly Cheesesteak and it was overloaded and delicious. I highly recommend their potato salad as well. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Lake George.
Absolutely my new favorite establishment. Family of 4 on a Saturday night and we were seated and served quickly by competent staff. Service was fast, accurate and DELICIOUS. Good food at very fair prices and above average portions. Finicky eaters were satisfied and no one went home hungry. Desserts all looked fabulous but no room this time. We will be back soon.
Menu selection is very good. Food was great with big portions. Desserts and handmade milkshakes are awesome!
Went on Thursday October 16th with my wife and daughter on our way to Canada, stopped in for breakfast, great food and atmosphere, very clean and our server Stephanie was extremely nice and friendly!! I go to Canada alot and this will be my go to from now on! Thank you
Typical diner energy but servers are quick and courteous. Monty Cristo French toast comes w/ canned cranberry sauce but the pro move is using syrup. The sweet & savory combo is killer. Ordered strawberries on the side, they don’t come standard. Servings on everything are GENEROUS. Definitely good for sharing.
Many solid options nice staff great food classic diner It will not disappoint you
Every time I go here I get the Thanksgiving Sandwich!! It has stuffing, cranberry sauce (get extra) Turkey cheese and it will punch your taste buds in all the right places. Also get their dessert you cheapskates! It’s the best. I like the banana cream pie and chocolate mousse cake.
This is not your classic Americana diner! This is a must stop if driving on 87. Fitted withVery cool retro decor. First impressions was the restaurant was extremely clean. Upon sitting down at the breakfast bar asked the waitress what her favorite dish wasn’t what she recommended. Her response was that cheese steak sandwich. It was not the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten, but the portion size was ridiculous.!!! for dessert I had to try the carrot cake. To call this a slice is an understatement. You could better describe it as a brick, This hands-down was the best carrot cake I’ve ever had in my life. Just know if you go here be prepared to take food home.
Great diner , easy access on and off the highway. We love that they serve breakfast all day. Very friendly and attentive staff And delicious food. Highly recommend
We were on a long road trip and had our dog, so we knew we were going to be eating in the car. They were SO nice and pleasant about making sure we were all set up and comfortable. We made sure to tip still! Monday’s lunch special- we got the chicken Pram. This probably could have fed the both of us. Also got the chicken salad sandwich. They have high speed EV chargers in the back, and are building more.
I had the best hot roast beef open face ever. Great stuff and and great waitress Emmy she made meal even better. Soup was great also.
It's a quaint little place to stop and have a meal when you don't feel like cooking, when you're meeting up with a crowd who like lots of different things, or you just want to get out of the rain for a cup of tea and a treat. The staff has always been friendly and we've never had anything we didn't enjoy! The wai is never very long and we know we can each get whatever we're in the mood for. Such a big selection!
Highlight: Carrot cake. Big enough to split. Swiss roll style cake filled generously with soft billowy cream cheese frosting. This Queensbury location has the most delectable array of Swiss roll style cakes. Cakes: We’ve tried all the flavors. Carrot cake is our favorite. Then, coconut lemon and Black Forest. Love the size of the cakes here and the borderline too much but oh so good frosting in the middle. Main entrees. Satisfying. The array is classic diner food with daily specials. Today’s special, we tried corned beef with cabbage and potatoes. Filling. With lots of condiments on the side. Soups. Homemade. Fresh. Filling. My matzo ball was one big ball in the cup of soup. Chicken soup was full of fresh cut vegetables and so delicious. Service is usually a super sweet waitress who treats us like she loves her job and makes a point to enjoy serving us.
We had a repass dinner on March 8, 2026. The food was very good. The staff was very good. All the food came out in time for a party of at least 20 and the price was very fair. I could not have asked for a better place to go I’m usually not a Greek diner fan, but they did an excellent job. Everybody was happy with their food. Most of my family went to a local sports bar the night before we’re not impressed at all, but they were impressed today thank you for being the best part of our repass.
Absolutely awesome diner. We drive 45 minutes to this diner often. Worth it every time. Good food and service. The desserts are wonderful. My only recommendation would be to skip their alcoholic drinks as they are very pricey. Other than you can't go wrong!
Feels like a traditional diner. Ordered a turkey Ruben and it was a pretty decent size, came with fries, a container of Russian dressing, and coleslaw. Got it to go. It was delicious! If all their food was as good as that sandwich then I def recommend.
They have EV chargers here! Awesome to come off the thruway and be able to get a good meal while charging the car. Usually it's like a fast food stop or something. Isabella was a great server and really nice. Thank you
We ended up here on New Year's Eve because Applebee's essentially told us to leave due to overwhelming wait time with their online orders being relentless. (We felt bad for their situation) When we arrived at Ambrosia we were seated immediately with a warm welcome and it only got better from there. Our server, Kallee, was prompt and sweet. We ordered 2 appetizers to which she said "Ill have thos right out to you"..... I am not kidding when I say that she returned in less than 5 minutes with hot delicious apps. For my meal I had the Greek salad with lamb added, my husband had a chicken Ceasar wrap. Both were fantastic and large orders. We took dessert to go. We will absolutely be back in the future. The menu is large with so many options to try.
Excellent diner. I had to stop to charge my EV and I was glad I did. I had a Reuben and it was on point. Service was great and actually a bit faster than I expected as I was waiting for my slow EC to charge. Price was great since it was in the range of fast food these days. Overall I highly recommend!
Ambrosia is always a solid choice for a good meal in a warm atmosphere with many delicious desserts to choose from that are made at the restaurant. What you may not know is that you can buy an entire dessert for a very reasonable price. I got a Black Forest cake - it was amazing and made my birthday extra special. Make sure to order ahead of time. Enjoy!
This was the perfect spot for dinner after hiking nearby Prospect Mountain! The menu offers an abundance of options - it’s hard to make your final decision! Our meals were served quite quickly and everything was delicious! Our server, Nicolle, was very friendly and responsive. Special shout out to the cannolis - they were excellent and I don’t say that often since I’m a cannoli snob. 😂
Amazing old school diner!! From the food to the people this place hits all the right spots. From the second you walk in you are greeted with smiles. The owner Bobby, wants you to have the ultimate dining experience here. The food was phenomenal and the portions were generous. We will definitely be back. Thank you for your warmth and hospitality Bobby!
Review from 2020: Delicious omelets. Lots to choose from. Clean tables. Fast service. Busy Sunday morning but wait time much lower than other restaurants around. Review from 2025. My eggs Benedict was bland with no flavor. Eggs were almost all the way cooked! Coffee creamer was old or not refrigerated-brought up to waitress & was given new but same issue. Be careful when drinking coffee. Our table was sticky. No wait for Saturday morning. Just not satisfied as I remembered. Disappointed
I don't write reviews just to write them period but my husband and I have been to Lake. George quite a few times and never ordered or eaten here before. First and foremost, absolutely fantastic wait staff. ( Special, thank you to Crystal our waitress) Our order was to go and we got the Yankee pot roast with mashed potatoes gravy, chicken noodle soup/salad and carrot 🥕 cake. Generous portions and the carrot cake. It's big enough for 2. Everything delicious and yummy. We will be going there for breakfast tomorrow!! This is to the management, please take good care of the exceptionally employees that you have (hard to find), keep the great food/desserts coming! This will definitely be our hot spot stop!!
09/4/22. Clean, staff friendly. Quick service. Food was good. Here for a late bite to eat. 09/05/22 Returned for breakfast. Place was PACKED! We were told 30 min wait, but was only 15. Ordered breakfast, came out quick and hot. Waitress was friendly and lively! Lol. She was running around, talking to customers and serving multiple tables at once.. she knew how to do her job, and did it well. Watching the other waitresses, all were smiling and were personable. Prices were very reasonable. Place is highly recommended.

Good food. Large portions. Good desserts if you're in the mood for something sweet. Good service too.
Excellent food! Speedy service! \nHighly recommend! Had a group of 8 and was seated in 15 minutes. The chicken fried steak was delicious. Portions were large.

Good food, great service, food always comes out very fast for how busy they are.
If you are looking for the quintessential American diner experience then this is the place for you. It was busy when my wife and daughter and I came in. The hostess told us 15 minutes but we were seated after a few minutes. Waitress arrived promptly and gave us menus. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was tasty. Coleslaw was fresh and pickle was crunchy. Waitress kept the coffee flowing. Overall a good experience and would recommend.
Great selection of food, it was good, but our server didn't come back to the table to check in until we were ready for the check.
The food is good and portions are very generous, which shows they have good cooks in the back. Waiter was good although handling a large number of tables and diners at once. My only problem was that when we got there, my wife was standing at the entrance, waiting to let them know we needed a table for two, nobody said a word to her. Then a white woman walked in and up next to her, and the woman who looked like she was busy behind the register acted as though my wife wasn't there, and asked this white woman if she could help her. Sorry, but I have to tell it like it was, and is. Had the guy doing the seating not showed up immediately, and took us to a table, I would have left, and missed a good meal. I do believe the woman behind the register has a problem, but in my opinion, it doesn't reflect the mentality, beliefs or behaviors of the staff in general.
It was great the first time. Food and wonderful service. Second time, food ok, service wonderful. Not sure we will go back. Just another diner. Same food over and over again. Just saying.
Great service and breakfast. Steak and eggs was a cheap cut of steak, but we didn't expect a great cut to begin with. Yogurt parait was authentic greek yogurt, more like a cross between cream cheese with a sour cream taste. It was chilly inside, even the hostess had a winter jacket on. Not sure if something was wrong with the heating or if this is always the case.
A traditional diner on the way to Montreal. We stopped for lunch and were full for all day. They serve large portions as a diner should be. The burger was big but a little dry. The Shrimp Kebab served on rice, and it was a very good and nutritious dish. For a desert, we took Eclair, it was huge and definitely unnecessary. The price is fair and suitable for stopping on a long drive.
My partner and I went to the Ambrosia diner after a long morning. Once we arrived we were able to pick from a table or booth, I person enjoy the booth so the option was a delight to have. I ordered the poutine, that arrived quickly, hot and fresh. We were welcomed to take our time and enjoy our late morning early evening accompanied by the beautiful throw-back decor of this diner. We had a great time with great food. Our waitress gave notes that were a bit less then friendly. However the overall tone was relaxed and enjoyable.
We don't go to the Ambrosia often as you really don't get the best bang for your buck there. The food is good. Not inexpensive but you can get a bargain depending on what you want to eat. Soft drinks seem to run more than area favorites. They have a great dessert selection but then again,be prepared to dig deep. We'll be back. They do provide unique service and selection.
Service was great and super friendly, Rachel was very kind and real! Also joked around and made us feel very welcome as new comers to the area. Is definitely a restaurant for the older crowd of locals and tourists during the busy season. Very much had the aesthetic of old diners. Food is pretty good, solid basic American eats! Incredible desserts and a wide variety of options!

Tough to give a good review when you get a huge piece of eggshell in your breakfast.. but overall it’s your average breakfast joint. Very clean and smiling faces working there
It's okay, will not blow you mind but you wont be disgusted at the food. Tbh I don't think I would choose to come back but at the same time I wouldn't make a fuss. I got the philly cheese steak and the bin basically disintegrated and the proportions of meat to bun to cheese was way off and there was too much meat one it.
I recently dined at this establishment and left with mixed feelings, ultimately rating my experience three stars. While the portions were generous, the food itself was disappointingly bland. The **open steak sandwich** was particularly underwhelming, as it arrived with a full strip of what seemed to be mid-cut sirloin, which was tough and gristly, lacking any seasoning. The **fettuccine Alfredo** was overwhelmed by sauce, making it difficult to enjoy. The **meatloaf dinner** was decent, but like the other dishes, it fell short on flavor, with both the meat and potatoes tasting quite plain - the gravy is the only thing that saved this dish . Speaking of gravy, the Poutine appetizer was decent with a good portion of melted cheese curds and somewhat flavorful gravy covering basic french fries. The Chicken BLT salad had at least 2 breasts of grilled chicken on it which was plentiful, but the rest of the salad left little to be desired. On a less appetizing note, my **whiskey sour** was served in a rocks glass that had lipstick smudged all over the rim. Although the manager did remove the drink from the bill, this was only done after I reminded them at checkout, despite being assured it was already taken care of. As for the ambiance, while we were seated quickly and there was ample space in the dining room, the booth cushions were cracked and peeling, which detracted from the overall experience. The only redeeming quality of the visit was the service, which was prompt and acceptable. However, given the total bill of $150 for four people, I expected much more. Overall, the generous portions couldn't compensate for the lack of flavor, making this dining experience not worth the price.
Food was solid, especially the rice. I just wish the waitress didn't make fun of my friend for ordering it. I also asked for no whipped cream on my pudding but it was added anyway. Food was good though.
We went here tonight for dinner. We were hungry after being on the road all afternoon. The diner was friendly. Our waitress was nice as well. However to charge $8.00 for yellow Kraft Mac and cheese is a bit absurd. It’s like 1.50 a box. Food came out in a timely manner. Overall food was decent just be aware of high jacked kids menu.

Mediocre food, high prices, VERY slow service, food was not good, took forever to be served and cashed out. Got sick 2 hours after eating my burger. Very bland!
Hoping for a decent smoke meat sandwich for the road. Would think, being a deli and all, should have been ideal spot! Had one bite, and through it out… Worst I ever had. On the plus side, ambiance and deserts seem very good even though that is not what I was aiming for.
The wine was good, but the food was bad. We were starving & ordered the Calamari Salad & Greek Salad & sweet potato fries. We barely ate the salads & took the rest to go & ended up tossing it in the garbage, which I hate to do. I'm not one to leave a bad review, but don't want anyone else to ever order the salads here. Unripe tomatoes & iceberg lettuce. A waste of $60 & wasted food. 😔 It's hard to make a bad salad. I love Greek food & diners & my go to is Spanakopita & Greek salad. I highly doubt the owners would eat this themselves. The baklava & cheesecakes & desserts looked good, but after barely being able to eat our $18 salads we passed. We noticed two ladies across from us barely touching their salads. The Greek Salad looked good, but tasted horrible. Bad ingredients.
A couple friends and I were trying to get dinner there yesterday and the doors were locked. The website says that it’s open until 11pm however when we went there they mentioned that it’s only opened until 9pm every night and that the doors close at 8:45. I find that their failure to update they website to accurately show the times is unacceptable and bad customer services. If I am visiting queensbury I would NEVER RECOMMEND this place. They are lazy people who don’t really care about their guests who dine in. I hope people who read this understand why I’m writing this review and I hope that this gets spread through and people get the message. They are incredible unprofessional.
Why does this place high reviews? Greasy soggy fries. Waitress was eating something while serving. Gross! Didn't know what an Arnold palmer was.. she acted all upset that I didn't like Greasy fries. For got the rueban dressing. Seems more like an older hang out. Was expecting a real dinner for the area it is in. Greasy food that gave my tummy cramps. Have pictures. If you squeeze the fries lightly oil oozes out. Ask for crispy n it was worse.
Went and ordered buffalo chicken wrap horrible no favor and paid 1.50 extra foe sweet potato fries. So bland no flavor added salt and pepper horrible. brought me regular fries never took the 1.50 off for sweet potato fries plus burnt. I will never go back plus,so cold in there my food got cold in 3 minutes
Service animals not welcome. There is a sticker on the door that claims service animals are welcome yet before we are even greeted by the male host we were rudely told "the dog needs to stay under the table". No Hi, no good afternoon, they went straight to the dog. A couple waitresses seemed fine with the dog while others seemed put off. I've been here previously, prior to having a service animal and the food was better, lately the food profile seems to be diminishing. Since the hostility towards the service animal we will not be returning.

Imagine this: you've been on the thruway all afternoon, battery low, and instead of pulling into another fast-food joint, you can sit down for a proper, hot...
Ambrosia Diner: Queensbury's Unsung Hero of Comfort Food
Queensbury locals, and even those willing to make a pilgrimage, know there’s something special about Ambrosia Diner. It’s got that classic, welcoming feel, the kind of place you walk into and instantly know you’re in for a solid meal without any fuss. It might be American cuisine on the menu, but it’s really just good, honest diner food done right.I’ve heard tales of folks driving 45 minutes regularly just to get their Ambrosia fix, and frankly, I get it. This isn't just about convenience; it
