Opinions de Taroko Asian Bar & Grill Redding
Taroko is hands down my favorite restaurant in Redding! The upscale vibe makes it perfect for a date night or dinner with friends — it feels elevated without being stuffy. The space is beautiful, the service is attentive, and the food is absolutely fabulous. Every dish we’ve tried has been full of bold flavor and beautifully presented. The cocktails are just as impressive. If you’re looking for a stylish atmosphere and consistently amazing food, Taroko is a must-visit!
This evening was my 5th visit to Taroko. when I want to celebrate a good day or improve a bad day, I'll basically find any excuse to come here. The service is always snappy and genuine, the atmosphere is beautifully calm and welcoming (especially Saturday nights when they have live piano) and the food is always delicious. I see a few other reviews that I feel are overly harsh. In the restaurant world, no matter how perfect a restaurant is there will always be a night where something isn't quite to your liking, however, I have a feeling these people didn't let the staff know or give them a chance to improve their experience before taking straight to google;) if you have an issue, they will fix it. All in all my favorite restaurant in town and I can't wait to go back.
Amazing atmosphere, love sitting at a table by the window, feels like you are in another city! The bar is really beautiful and inviting as well. The Taraoko Spring craft cocktail hit the spot and my favorite and something I order every visit is try the Pai Huang Gua (cucumber salad) so yummy. Photo below before I drank the sauce! Can’t go wrong with any of the appetizers, great selection execution and prices! Something for everyone. A beautiful addition to downtown Redding!
Beautiful restaurant with great service. Food always tastes fresh and the cocktail selection is amazing. You will definitely find something you like. Great place for a date night or with friends. :)
I can't say enough great things about this restaurant in Downtown Redding! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is inviting and beautifully designed, creating the perfect setting for a wonderful dining experience. The food is consistently outstanding—every dish I've tried has been bursting with flavor and crafted to perfection. The service is top-notch; very attentive and friendly! I can’t forget to mention their cocktails— perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious. This place has quickly became one of my all-time favorites. Whether you're out for a casual dinner or a special occasion, this is the spot to go. Highly recommend! Cindy Little
Excellent food with interesting sauces and the plating was inviting. Beautiful interior design gave a relaxed atmosphere. Service was very pleasant. We especially enjoyed the entertainment, a jazz duo that suited the place perfectly. Top notch experience.
Outstanding addition to the Redding food scene! One of the cleanest and most modern venues in town - feels upscale and inviting. The food is a flavorful blend of pan-Asian cuisine with a lot of variety. The appetizers (which are too many to try in one visit) each melt in your mouth, and there are fantastic entree dishes as well. My personal favorite is the scallion pancakes and the kimchi friend rice! Wow. Would highly recommend everyone in Redding check this place out. The service is friendly and professional, plus the price is reasonable for the classy experience you get! Some complain about the cost... this isn't the place for you if you only want fast, cheap Chinese takeout. I'm so happy Taroko is bringing a quality dining experience to our city!
Amazing dining experience!! I loved the Garlic Soy Sea Bass on Bok Choy 🥬!! My boyfriend had the Grilled Wagyu Steak with Noodles. Both were cooked perfectly. Josette was our server and was truly amazing and attentive. Such a delight!! They have a variety of beers on tap, wine menu and mixers as well. You've got to try this lovely restaurant! Yes it's pricey but so worth it!! The atmosphere and the lamps are amazing 🤩!
Great food and drinks! We loved the scallion pancake and Cantonese beef soup. Our server/bartender Frank was amazing, went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, and gave great recommendations. Loved all the drinks he made us but highly recommend his thin mint chocolate martini for dessert.
This is such a nice place! The food and drinks are delicious and the staff are all very friendly and keep the bar spotless. It's a place you can go to for a casual drink or company dinner, the atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable and I feel safe going to this bar by myself. Depending on what you get it can be a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it for the experience. Treat yourself!
Food was phenomenal; the absolute best we've had in Redding. Service was phenomenal: we were walk-ins on Valentine's Day and Frank gave us excellent service at the bar while he worked in overdrive to make drinks for everyone at the same time. Scallops were tasty and not at all overcooked, honey glazed prawns were flawless. Wagyu burger had excellent flavor and also cooked superbly, but the truffle fries stole the show! Every drink was amazing and we plan to go back to try all the items on the menu and drink menu. Piano player was very talented and added to the ambience; singer was unfortunately not as good.
New favorite restaurant in Redding! Came here for my wife’s birthday dinner and it was awesome. The service was amazing. The ambiance was great, very modern and clean yet cozy with comfy booths and a fireplace. Every dish was excellent from the flavor, to the stone bowl and the pillowy bao buns. Prices are super reasonable too! Happy hour was a great deal. Will definitely be back, highly recommend this gem!
We went to dinner around 4:30 and enjoyed every bit of it! Our food was amazing and drinks were so good! We ordered the lychee lemon drop which I would 100% order again. The popcorn chicken was amazing and the calamari! The service was great! We sat at the bar. All of the staff were friendly. We will comeback again UPDATE we came back for a second time and were again blown away by the service. Our waitresses name was Ashley and she was AMAZING. She was VERY attentive to our needs and was on top of service. The restaurant was packed, yet we got our order promptly. We ordered the popcorn chicken and lychee lemon drop once again they were fantastic. We decided to try the scallion pancakes which were to die for. I ordered the beef bowl and was offered 4 different types of sauces that were brought to the table. I thought this was a very nice touch and I liked being able to try all of them. If you are looking for a great restaurant, with awesome staff, great food and drinks then come to Taroko!
I’m a regular at taroko & this is why; The food is always amazing, the atmosphere is always quant, & the service is always on point. I’ve sampled most of the menu items and there’s not a single dish that doesn’t stand out for itself in very strong and delicious ways — The kitchen never sends a dull meal, the spices are always on point, and I’ve not been dissatisfied or disappointed with a single dish. Their menu is diverse - with some flavorful heavy hitters; From ramen (pictured), to pho, to methodically constructed fusion dishes - Taroko is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in town for a worthwhile meal.
The vibe is upscale for Redding. There is comfortable seating throughout the restaurant. We were greeted by friendly staff & attended to with care at the bar. The menu is a mix of Korean and Japanese. The food was on par with the cultures it represented for example the kimchi was pickled perfectly and rice cooked to a perfect sticky yet not clumpy texture.
UPDATE: So good, we went back the next night! As good or better than the night before! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In Redding, good food in a restaurant setting is a rare gem—and Taroko is a gem among coal. We ordered a variety of small plates: calamari, popcorn chicken, and scallion pancakes. Portions were generous, flavors popped, and each came with its own dipping sauce (a nice bonus). The popcorn chicken was a peppery flavor bomb—easily a favorite. The scallion pancakes were thicker and more fried than traditional ones, but paired with a handcrafted cocktail from the full bar, they became a guilty pleasure I’d order again. The calamari had great flavor, but the pieces were oversized and a bit too heavily fried for our liking. We also had the Hong Kong noodles—craveable in every sense. Service was spot-on, and the atmosphere hits the sweet spot between trendy and relaxed—perfect for a date night or a stylish night out with friends. Highly recommend.
Great food with just the right price. Good amount of serving in every order. Their Clam TomYum is hands down the best I have ever tasted. The host was friendly. Then Jake was attentive to our needs, he was our server and I see he was also the bartender. I also appreciate Tyler who brought out our foods to the table, very courteous and nice. My only suggestion is for the dish I ordered, Pork Belly Bowl, to soften the meat of your Pork Belly Bowl wherein it would taste like its softness would melt in the mouth kind of texture because the taste is great already its just a bit tough to chew. Oh their Tiramisu is a 5⭐️! Perfect size, fluffy texture and not too sweet. This is the best Tiramisu for me in Redding,CA.
Everything we ordered was fantastic — teriyaki salmon w/ fried rice, cucumber salad + chili wontons. The food was fresh and had fantastic flavor. Compliments to the chef - not a grain of rice was left
Truly exceptional! Taroko has it all: delicious food, beautiful interior design, a calming atmosphere, and great service. I loved their beef stew and truffle fried rice, and would've tried more dishes if I had the space. Definitely a must try in Redding especially if you're looking for an elevated Asian dining experience!
We were referred to this restaurant by the American Modern Hotel where we were staying and holy yum! That was just about the best Asian food I have ever had! Who knew Redding had such a hidden gem tucked into their downtown? the restaurant is somewhat unique, a fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, and more! The menu was fairly diverse! We arrived at about 6pm on a Wednesday and they were already 3/4s full. The person who greeted us said they had a lot of reservations that night, but they were able to squeeze us in still. While we were there, the restaurant got packed with people. It’s clearly a popular place to be full on a Wednesday night! And after eating the food, I know why! Our server recommended the crispy chicken bun appetizer, and it was everything as wonderful as it promised to be! Very unique too. It ate like a taco with the sweet sticky bun serving as a taco shell and the balance of the crispy chicken with the hoisin and that spicy mayo…it was an explosion of flavors in your mouth! It comes with two bun tacos, which was perfect since I was dining with a friend. For our main courses, she ordered the crispy shrimp with a honey cream sauce and I ordered the Korean kalbi short ribs bowl. Both of them were amazing! The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the light, crispy breading on the outside went well with the delicate honey cream sauce drizzled on top. I appreciated that they did not drown it in sauce like most places do! And the Korean kalbi short ribs bowl was another flavor adventure! You can see from the photo that there was a lot in the bowl and when eaten together, it all worked harmoniously! Their Kim chi is outstanding too! The service was exceptional and we will definitely be back when we are in Redding again in December. This restaurant is a must try if you appreciate high-quality Asian food!
Celebrated my Bday here. I get these high-end places that don't Celebrate their customers Bday, but they need to do something for people who specifically came here to celebrate their special day, a cupcake maybe? A small gesture of appreciation? Really something will do a piece of paper with a Happy Birthday note signed by the chef? Gee, something. Anyway, the food was amazing 10/10 the atmosphere was great we had to ask twice for my friend's drink 🍸 it took a while after our meal came.
The closest thing you will get to actual fine dining here in Redding. Every dish I've had has been amazing. Full bar, fancy atmosphere. Total date night place!
It's a beautiful restaurant in downtown Redding. The food was good. Service was great, atmosphere was outstanding. It was a fun place to dine. Everyone had fun and I'll be back soon. Wasn't too salty and overseasoned. But very flavorful. ...Service seemed a little slow. But they were very busy, so understandable.

Everything at Tarokos is my favorite but, I recommend the truffle fried rice with whatever you order. The staff is super friendly while being super professional and helpful. The place is beautiful. Frank is tending bar and will quickly run to your table if he even think you need something. Statr of with the spicy garlic edemame and one of their variety of Saki. If you go you'll love it.
Fantastic food, truly the best place in Redding for lunch or dinner! Their menu is inspired and carefully crafted to be excellent with every bite. The pork belly bowl and Kalbi bowl are incredible, along with the scallion pancakes and Szechuan chili Pepper wings. Again this is our favorite place to eat and the owner is passionate and friendly. Plus the beer selection is wide and flavorful
Excellent food variety, very good selection of beverages, even sake, (three or four different types of sake), and some imported beers on tap and in bottles. I tried the best recommended dry sake, and had it and imported Japanese beer, paired with a bowl of edamame beans. First time there, because my favorite local music performer, Ashley Black, was performing that night. I would go back again for the food because they had an excellent menu.

This place is super nice inside. It's a little pricey, especially for entrees but the appetizers are really good. In particular the Tom Yum Clams and the Endamame were delicious. The cocktails were really inventive and good! This is a great place and I'd definitely eat here again. The only criticism I'd have was that about half the clams were closed in our order but the broth was amazing. The calamari was also a bit chewy but had great flavor!
So this was our first time to this restaurant. It is still fairly new to the area. It's a bit pricey I think, but I will let you be the judge of that. I will make this review a little easier to read than my normal ones. Positive remarks: - customer service was above and beyond expectations. They kept our glasses full and our table clear of dirty plates. Very attentive staff, very friendly. Kayla, our server, and also the bartender for the restaurant, made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you, Kayla 😊. - The atmosphere of the restaurant is very unique. I have not seen decor like this since being in Asia. Whoever designed this place knew what they were doing. - Saturday evenings, there is live piano music that is played while you eat your meals. Neutral remarks: - parking is plentiful but only free after 6pm and on weekends - the water is tasty, filtered, but not ice cold - you can walk in and get a table, but a reservation would be best just to be safe Negative remarks: - the menu has errors on it. They have not fixed them - the mixed salad is pretty looking but VERY heavy with dressing, and for some reason, the sesame dressing is also very spicy. It's also $8 on the menu, but they charge you $10 on the bill. - I ordered the honey glazed prawns, which were fantastic, but they fail to tell you that the tails are still on them. BE AWARE when you eat them, the breading and honey glazing covers them pretty well, and if you're not paying attention, you will get one on your mouth. I had to pull each tail off, which interrupted my eating experience. Overall I was happy with this restaurant visit and will be attending again, hopefully on a Saturday evening instead so I can enjoy the mellow keys of the piano while I eat. Hope you enjoyed my review, like, and follow for more detailed reviews.
First time visiting Taroko Asian Bar and Grill. We dropped in on a weekend afternoon, around 2 pm. There was plenty of seating available at that time. We were greeted immediately and promptly seated. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. We placed our order for drinks and lunch. We didn't have too long a wait for either to be served up. Our server was the bartender, as well. The drinks and the food were well presented. The food had good flavor and we all enjoyed our selections. I have to say, the brussel sprouts were very good. At least to us. Service was good and the cost was acceptable. It was a good lunch.

First, the restaurant is gorgeous! I love an upscale vibe. However, the ramen was awful. I'm talking not edible. It tasted really sour like something was bad in it. I may go again and try something else.
I wanted to try this upscale Asian Fusion restaurant that was near my hotel. It was busy and I had to wait for a table on a Thursday evening. I reviewed the menu and ordered the Wonton Noodle Soup. The menu has a number of options from small bites like soup dumplings, bowls with rice including pork belly, soup, and much more. It took about twenty minutes for my soup to arrive in a very hot bowl. The broth did not have a strong taste to it and was bland tasting, the thin noodles were average, and the Won Ton dumplings were small with good taste. Located on Pine Street in downtown Redding and a short distance from the America Modern Hotel. A nice place to stop for dinner with friendly service, a beautifully designed restaurant, and food that is solid, but not great.

We are vegans and were excited to see so many options on the menu. The entire meal was a great disappointment. And way on the salty side and I am a person who likes salt. The food did not have enough flavor. We order the exact same food at a restaurant in Chico and it is always delicious. Not even the Thai ice tea was good. It was weak with not enough cream. The plus side is that the wait staff is terrific. We felt welcomed right from the time we walked in the door. I had a truly lovely conversation with the Receptionist while I was waiting for my partner to get the car. So FIVE STARS for the staff. But as far as the vegetarian options we chose, can only give it One Star because of the overuse of salt.
I ordered Salt and Pepper ribs. Came cold, dry and unsatisfing. Wifes ramen was ok. Underwhelmed.
I really hate leaving bad reviews at places. The atmosphere was great and food was above average. But the service was terrible. Waited forever for food/drink when the restaurant was practically empty. We arrived at 7:40 PM and happy hour ends at 8. The original bill charged us for non happy hour prices because the servers took very long to get to our table even though we were ready to order. Again the restaurant was practically empty. They did correct the issue and gave us the correct prices. Still it seemed like did not want to correct their wrong. I’ll probably give it another shot but I really hope they can improve the service.
If you enjoy below average quality Asian food this place is for you. 1) the Taiwanese spicy beef noodle soup should just been called Egg noodle soy sauce base soup with beef. The soup base is way too salty and egg noodles in a beef noodle soup??? I guess 2 stars for trying but it’s an atrocity to call this a Taiwanese style. 2) if you never had Xiao Long Bao in your lifetime I guess you would think this is a half decent dish they serve here. First why would you steam all the XLB cluttered up next to each other on the plate? There’s no way to separate them without breaking the skin which leads to all the juice flowing out on to the plate and being wasted. The best part of eating a XLB is to eat the whole thing with the soup inside. You can’t even enjoy that here with the way they steamed it, might as well just order regular dumplings.
Hong kong noodles were bland and dry. the dessert cheese cake is $10 and the size a freakin costco sample, literally the size of my finger. the flavor is pretty mediocre as someone who has had experience with japan cheesecakes this was extremely disappointing and honestly quite laughable.
It’s decent inside, a lot of detail went into the decor, I do wish the lighting wasn’t so bright as it feels like a hotel lobby. The food however, really needs work. We got the Spicy Beef bowl, it was bland, no spice, and the beef was in my opinion not edible. Pot-roasty with very little flavor. We also got the Won Tons which were pretty good, not a hard thing to do though really. I really wanted to like this place but after very poor service I just can’t in good conscience recommend this place. The staff needs training, they need samples of foods and drinks, and the food needs work.
Walking in the restaurant has amazing decor and is well put together. The hostess was very welcoming and sat us immediately even though we were early for our reservation. Then it all went downhill. While everyone else's servers were calm and collected, doing an amazing job, ours was terrible. She spent the first fifteen walking past our table just saying "sorry" every time we caught glances. Keep in mind they weren't super busy and all the other staff served tables immediately. Finally when she came to take our drink orders we told her we were ready to order our meals too. My wife ordered the tamarind margarita, I just got a soda, calamari for the app, kimchi fried rice with crab as the protein, and the honey prawns. Our server forgot to bring us our drinks so another server brought my soda and a water for my wife. Finally we were told that they were out of tamarind, so my wife ordered a plain margarita. What she ended up getting was what tasted like tequila and sweet and sour mix in a whiskey glass. The food started good at first, but even with the server stressing that the app would come first, my wife's food came with it and mine didn't. The calamari was amazing. Lightly breaded, and tasted super fresh. The kimchi fried rice was ok, but lacked any real kimchi flavor and there was hardly any crab in it, just a few shreds which was super disappointing because they charge $6 extra for crab. My food didn't come out, and after 20 minutes of waiting and my wife's food getting cold because she didn't want to eat without me, our server finally tells us that they forgot my food and they would start it now. A couple minutes later my food arrived but by then my wife's food was cold and what I had just gotten was cold too. The broccoli tasted like they just took it out of the fridge, and for $23 you get 6 rubbery, tail still on shrimp that taste like they cooked them from frozen. The manager comped my plate but when we got the bill we noticed my wife's $15 tamarind margarita turned into a $23 margarita with no warning of the up charge, and the only exception being that's what they charge for tequila. We refused to pay that, but said we would pay the initial $15 that it said on the menu since she drank it. The bill ended up being $54 for some good calamari, some bland fried rice, and a terrible margarita. Best part was when we got home and reheated the rice we found a chunk of sharp plastic in it. Not worth it at all. I know new places have bumps they have to iron out when they open but this was ridiculously bad. I feel like with a different server we would have had a different experience because ours was just terrible. Don't think we'll be back to give it another chance.
The service was great and the theme of the place looked nice, but unfortunately the food didn’t meet expectations. The ramen tasted like it came from a package and was missing the usual ingredients; the noodles had a strange, possibly expired smell. The pho was similar in quality. The fried calamari was undercooked and had a fishy odor inside. I hope others have a better experience than I did.

But as far as the vegetarian options we chose, can only give it One Star because of the overuse of salt.
unreasonable service, cannot order and checkout at cashier or at desk and have to wait for they find you.looks like When to order and checkout is what they decide and not me?Even ready to take away my dishes before i finished?Have been say no over 5 times during dinner and have to give my first bad review in u.s.Service not match the food and music.
This establishment’s tuna steak gave me Scombroid poisoning. A food poisoning that comes from improper handling of raw fish. I notified the restaurant to let them know they should inspect the fish so no one else gets sick. The staff told me the restaurant would like to make it up to me. I was sent an email saying that they’ve had this item on the menu since they opened (irrelevant) and I probably had a reaction to the spices or oils used. I don’t have any food allergies. I don’t recommend eating there unless you want to risk eating bad raw fish. Severely disappointed because it does have a nice atmosphere. However their lack of reconciliation and proper food handling makes me never want to eat at their establishment or recommend it to anyone.
I try to be fair, So if you see how I rated the food and atmosphere you could understand that there must be some other reason why I put a one star. I appreciate Rain (a manager there) and Izzy (our second server during this experience) for trying to make the rest of our time there exceptional (and the service was very good, and they were very nice) BUT, Here's what happened: I made it there early to reserve a table for me and someone I was going out on a date with for the first time. I got a nice table near the front, ordered some tea and then I told people at the counter that I would be outside waiting for my date. Then I look through the window, and some other server is seating somebody at my table. So I rushed in to ask them ( the new customers and the server ) to have them sit somewhere else, that that table was taken, but the server seating them couldn't even bother looking at me and would not even stop them from setting up on my table. I told them that if they didn't address this issue and reSeat the new people somewhere else, that I would leave a review about this. And they didn't, they wouldn't. and so I am. I felt disrespected by the staff, and the new customers that just walked in who are basically encouraged to ignore me and take my table knowing now that it shouldn't have been available for them to take. That's bad. I think the staff should have been responsible for reseating these "people" that came in after I did, and not shifting the responsibility to me to now find a new table I can accept for me and my date. You go to a restaurant as early as you can to be able to get a good table, and then now you can't have it because: "there was a miscommunication between the staff". That was simply insane to me.
