On Sunday you can have eggs Benedict or florentine made with real Hollandaise sauce and on Fridays excellent clam chowder, New England or Manhattan. We have been in the Village Cafe for a couple of decades and George and his staff have never disappointed us. Great food great people, great value.
Bowling, good food, whats not to love
Been coming here for years, only ever had one bad experience and that was apparently a fluke since it never happened again. Staff is great, food is good, prices very reasonable. My biggest complaint is that it's not closer to where I live, but obviously that's not their problem.
Excellent customer service, a local favorite. Next to a bowling alley and best western motel. Truly a local spot for food. Many of the customers have been coming here for years and are customers are remembered. Amazing Turkey Club sandwiches made with real sliced turkey breast vs deli turkey meat. Amazing fried chicken and waffles - doesn't seem like it but it truly is. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. Usually the waffle has powdered sugar on top of it.
We are visiting from out of town and we were looking for a place to have breakfast. This place is great! There are options for vegetarians. We ordered spinach and feta omelette. Kelly was super friendly and provided outstanding customer service. I haven’t experienced such awesome service for a while ❤️
Great food.. Dine in or take out. Taking all precautions for Covid. I had the Trio salad.. Tuna, Chicken Salad, and egg salad with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and olives and a hard boiled egg. A healthy portion and so yummy. Nice sever and friendly... Plenty of parking even though bowling alley isn't quite open next to it.. will be booming in the fall.. Good burgers, sandwiches, Chicken and Waffles and dinners. Close at 7 pm but nice to sit here and get out of the heat. Love supporting Mom and Pop places. Had come here once in a while but was a pleasure... Come here to take out or dine in with space apart... love it... It may have been older place but it's so comfortable, cool and they have loyal patrons. I know owner George is is so nice. Good soups and desserts too.Drinks in cans with ice and you can watch their TV with the News while you are eating... Counter spaced apart eating, tables, spaced apart and a few booths...
There is NO better clam chowder on the planet...homemade every Friday! Daily specials, homemade soups, the BEST blue cheese dressing. A wide variety of foods...everything is DELICIOUS and served just the way you want it!! Friendly staff, great service and value. My family's favorite restaurant. Comfort food for sure.
[Theme music please] Omgoodness grace 😃 The very best chicken and waffles in the world. I haven't even been around the entire world 🌍. Yet I highly most definitely think none and no other can touch this delicious meal. I think Jesus came down and shared the recipe 🤤. Awesome staff and nice and quiet. In my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice, "I'll be back". 💪🏾
First time in this place but I already in Love with. Old fashion cafe with the happy and wonderful greeting “Good Morning” friendly staff, very polite, talkative and you can tell that they are happy working there. The WAFFLE are to die for and the attention from the servers exceptional. Happy to find a place that I can have a traditional breakfast. And the Plus is they serve breakfast all day. Located inside of the Winnetka bowling alley.
I love the vibe of this quiet and friendly Cafe! It's my go-to breakfast spot for waffles and the melted butter they offer makes it 10x better. Usually I get the corned beef with eggs, their style is delicious.
This place is am amazing. The best thing that you can eat here is the waffles. The service was very nice. I would highly recommend eating here.
Great food, friendly and fast service. It was exactly what we needed on an early Sunday morning.
Great food at reasonable prices. George the owner is also the Chef and he can whip up some great tasting dishes! I had the Tino Omelette with Greek Sausage, onions, Bell Peppers and Zucchini, topped with Feta Cheese, Home Fried potatoes with onions and Bell Peppers, a toasted onion bagel and coffee. To say it was delicious would be an understatement. It was FANTASTIC as evidenced by my ultra-clean plate. I always enjoy coming to The Village Café at The Canoga Park Bowl!🤠
Yes! I finally gave five stars to a very simple but delicious Family Restaurant in Northridge. From the waitress to the manager to the atmosphere! It was very nice! And my family and I enjoyed the chicken and waffles just as much. It was super delicious super fluffy and decadent! Just loved the food here! Not to mention it has a bowling alley next to this restaurant to go have fun after and burn some calories. Definitely returning with my family again! Thank you so much for your wonderful host and food!
It's a great place to meet and talk to friends. You're typically seated fast and get water or coffee within the first minutes of being seated. Every reasonable kind of egg, burger, salad, and soft drink available is delivered to your table or counter seating. Efficiency and good manners abound. I have to say, it's the most hassle free place you can go, with great parking, great service, big menu with food designed to make you happy.
I was actually surprised by how great the food and service was here. Our waitress was super nice, and allowed us to mix and match stuff we ordered that was not on the menu.
While in Winnetka I looked up restaurants that serve breakfast all day and found this location. Its in same building as bowling alley and we couldn’t hear anything from bowling in the restaurant. I was with my daughter and she had cheeseburger and French Fries. I had Uncle Kenny’s Famous Winnetka Rock and changed biscuit to sourdough toast. I made a sandwich and added side of bacon. I thoroughly enjoyed it! The menu is big and they serve beer and wine. The prices were reasonable. The service was good and friendly.
Kelly is a great server - Thank you. They have a very large breakfast menu that is tasty home-cooked food. Wow....perfect amount of food, and I love the extra salsa. I asked for spices and I got spices. Yum. I'm planning to eat there again.
The food was REALLY good. I ate a plain cheeseburger with French fries and 4 chicken strips. THEY WERE TO DIEEE FOR. This restaurant has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever went to. The service was really good. I eat at the place and the seating is good. The waiter is very kind and the food doesn’t take long. Depends if there is a lot of people. It closes at 10pm beware. I was STUFFED after that meal.
2017: I love the all day breakfast here! The biscuits and gravy are the best around. Great portion size for the price! Updated Feb 2023: The food is still absolutely amazing! High quality and well flavored. Corn beef hash and biscuits and gravy are highly recommended!
Quick service and they are very nice and attentive. Great spot for a quick breakfast. They serve regular coffee but it’s better than most breakfast joint. So don’t expect a latte. 😎
Everything was just lovely, great service too 🩷

Hidden gem for the quality of food. Come on sundays, the eggs benedict is the best I have ever had, and I order eggs benedict everywhere I go. Immaculate vibes, so comfortable and homey, friendly and kind. Steak is perfectly seasoned and cooked, omelettes perfectly balanced. I come back to try something new and have not been disappointed. I come for the home cooking and the at-home atmosphere
Love coming here to watch the sports games. Cafe is next door to the bowling alley and bar. Georgie is one of the best. Order the chicken strip pate with crispy fresh fries or fish and chips, they never miss!!
I was in search of a good breakfast place within the general Lamorinda area to meet with my friend when she suggested this restaurant. I must say that this has to be my new favorite brunch spot! I ended up ordering the corned beef hash per the waiter's suggestion and it was my first time having it with over easy eggs and it was amazing! It is perfect for those who like hash brown but want some protein within it. Parking is very easy to find as it is conveniently located in the Orinda Village Plaza. They have both outdoor and indoor seating and the restaurant is very clean and well furnished. I was in love with the homey feel of the restaurant and I found out it is a family owned restaurant! The owner and her two daughters were so kind and patient with me when especially when taking my order because I was so indecisive with what I would order. I will 100% be visiting again and highly recommend this place! The other breakfast places in the area cannot compare to the fast service, delicious food, beautiful presentation, and the warmth emulating from this establishment. If you get either Gianna or Jessica as your server you're truly in luck because they were such a delight :)
I love this place inside the one that can bowling center. Play customer service is excellent. I've never had a bad experience with any of the staff. Mary courteous and respectful. The food is excellent.
The Café smelled super clean when we walked in for breakfast. Giselle greeted us warmly. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and had great suggestions. The food came promptly and nothing was missed. The pancakes where amazing! We will return when we are back in town.

I ordered by telephone. That was easy. I went there and ..waited.. for my order. There was only one waitress for all of these people. It didn't look that busy. Hmm.. I didn't feel that important. It wasn't worth it. I ordered the double waffles. And the special fries. The special fries were tasty. The waffles were small. Not worth it.
There is no pretense to this diner other than exactly what it is: A cozy little coffee shop tucked inside a bowling alley. Don't let the locale fool you though into thinking that it is sub-par. Everything is delicious and priced right. Breakfast is spot on with generous, tasty omelets. Lunch is well represented and I recommend the gyros they make. Staff is friendly, and owner/chef, George is always in a good mood.
This place is good for a quick bite especially if you're bowling. It's a good place to wait while there is a line. I only had the French fries, but it is a Greek restaurant. While we were waiting we saw lots of diverse plates being passed around that looked delicious. The staff was really friendly. The decor was very casual and had a old cafe charm. It's nothing fancy, but it's kind of what you'd expect for being in the bowling alley.
Its a great little diner. I've never been disappointed with their food no matter what I get. My favorite is always their salads. Their Cobb, Chef and Super Salad are fantastic. I dont even need dressing for it. Their apps are tasty too. George, the owner, is by far the most nicest person I have ever met. The food is fresh and tasty and they always have specials. I've never had a meal I didn't like and for a nice mom and pop diner, its one of my faves. You can get apps and go bowl, or get a meal and eat in the diner or at the bar. Its close and convenient and the food is worth the prices.
Nice little breakfast place. They have something for everyone. If you have ever watched The Big Lebowski, you should visit this spot. The restaurant is connected to a bowling alley that opens really early, like 8 or 9am. When you use the restroom you have to go into the bowling alley. Definitely get a Dude like feel going in.
So I have been in this establishment several times over many years. I stayed in the hotel 1 time 30 years ago. Went in the bar on Friday nights when they do karaoke..my brother likes karaoke. I don't drink either. And I've been bowling here waaaay back in tbe day. I think I ordered some food from the diner on one of my brothers karaoke..???? But I went on Saturday around noon craving bacon and eggs. All of it was decent except the bacon wasn't cooked fresh and had been sitting for awhile. It was decent food. I just had water to drink and it came to $15.31 plus a 25% tip. Total $19.00. I'd eat here again and try one of their very affordable steak dinners, rib eye or new uork, for about $25.00 includes a baked potato and corn. Maybe it was just an off day for them.
Old-school kind of breakfast diner inside a bowling alley. Food was good. Service was good. Interesting atmosphere. There were some customers playing mahjong in the corner.
Just an average café with average food. I got biscuit and gravy with eggs. Gravy was flavorless the biscuit itself was good and eggs were.....just eggs and cheese.

I didn't go in but I called and had food delivered to my room at the Best Western next door. They were fast, friendly and the food was good. I only wish I had ordered more of it.
First-timer! Service was amazing-- Maria was so kind and attentive. Food was simple but delicious. The vibe of the place was nice and cozy. Will be back!

This is one of my favorite places to go for Ribeye Steak. So juicy, tender and flavorful! I had a great salad with mixed greens with extra tomatoes. I also had a bowl of their clam chowder. Theirs is the best in LA! Extra creamy, thick, and delicious!
The French dip sandwich was average. The au jus sauce was delicious and the fries were unsalted. It was serviceable but not memorable. The bowling alley, the restrooms, the restaurant are all very clean and well cared for and my hostess/server was delightful and nice and meet at a good visit. It's probably worth another visit not compelling. Like everywhere, prices are crazy high, $5 sodas, $17 sandwich, too expensive but that's hard to get away from these days.

The food is horrible. Frozen chicken fingers, frozen fries, and canned nacho cheese. And the frozen food is like off brand frozen food from a low end grocery store. The chicken fingers were flat. I considered ordering the fish and chips. When I asked what kind of fish was served I was told, "It is a frozen square piece." I probed further with "OK but is it cod or something else. " Response "It's frozen and square. That's all I know."
Normally I enjoy breakfast here today abysmal. Everything came out cold on a cold plate hollandaise sauce not even warmed up when the waitress finally asked how everything was after the end of the meal I told her it was abysmal she smiled and walked away. Cold plates for breakfast dumbest thing possible. Worst $24 ever spent on a breakfast. It'll be a long time before I go back staff didn't care at all.
The food is good and the price is right. But unfortunately the staff isn't so great. One of the head waiters is rude and his demeanor is just horrible. It makes you uncomfortable. This wasn't the first time going to the village cafe. Due to being from out of town my husband and I thought this place would be great with it having the bowling ally, hotel, and a small cafe on site but the first time we were here I seen the waiter rudly tend to a table with guest of what seemed to be their mid 20s upon the second time being here with me being on the bad end of the wait staffs attention I over herd the main waited say to the younger waiter that was in training that I didn't need a refill on my soda due to me being 300 lbs. I'm shocked to be treated this way. Im not 300 lbs and if I was why would it matter. How he should be looking at it is at least my big a$$ is keeping his a$$ emplyeed.needless to say we won't be returning.
Monday, January 13 12:02pm and it is time for lunch. So since I was right down the street I thought it was a great idea to stop in and try this place that I keep on driving by, but actually never had the opportunity to stop in. Oh boy, was that a mistake. While there is a makeshift sign telling you where there is an entrance, there are actually two options with one of the doors leading right into the kitchen. Fix it. The place STINKS. It made me think that there must be mold everywhere. Clean it. The person at the counter didn't greet or even acknowledge my existence. Not that I need validation, but [message to the person behind the counter] when a patron comes into the cafe and you have only 5 customers sitting in the whole place then your job is to immediately acknowledge them. Customer service 101. Let me tell you what a customer actually expects from you when they walk in through the doors (write this down "Hi, welcome to Village Cafe. I'm going to give you a minute to look through the menu and I'll be right back to take your order. Thanks" Well, no thanks. Zero stars. The prices seemed ok, and the food might be awesome. Your staff, and thereby management, needs retraining.
The waitress was nice, but the wait was ridiculous. We were ther over an hour before we got our food and that was after we ordered the first time our waitress came by. The food was fair. The toast was barely toasted. Don't go unless you have a lot of time on your hands and you plan to be hungry when you leave.
I was literally bullied by the server. Guy was hostile and made fun of me everytime I tried asking for something. He would raise his hands up and look at me as if I was less or not worth his time. I asked for a pitcher and he just talk down on me. Worst experience I've had at a restaurant. Poor to non existend costumer service. I was not welcomed from the moment I stepped in.
the french dip sandwich was not very good. $18 for a sandwich and fried and the sandwich was sad slices of meat, no cheese, nothing else. absolutely a ripoff.
First glance the place looks run down and full of geriatrics. The food was another level of terrible. I'd prefer hotel breakfast than paying $25 for this. Nice waitress was about the only good quality.

Worst example of a beef kabob plate. Kabob was nothing more than a few strips of steak, bell pepper, onion, and tomato that was obviously thrown together on a hot flat top and cooked for a couple of minutes. No skewers, no grilling. And then charged $20 for a $10 plate. Ate a couple of bites and left entire plate. Another waste of hard earned money on shitty food. I had this same exact plate a few years back at a bar in Chicago. Willing to pay double per plate and keep going back to Chicago than spend another penny on this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
