Went for the first time this morning and it was delicious! We were in and out in under an hour! Food was delicious and hot! Server (Sierra) was friendly and upbeat! Definitely will be back!
Went for breakfast on a Friday morning. Great service! Coffee was topped off often. Food is excellent and priced super reasonably.
Fiancee and I just went here for dinner. Didn't realize it was right before close, but the staff were very friendly and imply we should hurry or anything. The food is really quite good- she had the pot roast and I had the chichen souvlaki. Both were excellent but the souvlaki is probably the best I've had in the city! Beautiful presentation and a huge serving. Value is unbeatable- will return again in the future.
This is our "go-to" restaurant and the kids first choice. We've tried many of the menu items over the years and have not been disappointed. Many of the wait staff have been there for years, we always ask for Alyssa....
Pixleys is awesome ,especially our favorite waitress Alyssa. The food is great ,small-town feeling in a big town restraunt. Reasonable prices and large portions. I would give them ten stars if they would allow me too.
Great value food always good servers excellent
Great service. Food was excellent and served quickly. Prices are good. Definitely recommend and will go there again.
Cute diner. Food was good. I had crepes which were very good.
Been here a few times, with either friends or family, and I LOVED it. They have good food, generally friendly staff, and a comfortable atmosphere. I personally like the paninis the best. The gyros are made with lamb, which is wonderful~many restaurants substitute beef for the lamb (beef is cheaper). Prices are reasonable as well. All-in-all, one of my top places to eat!
I go there mostly for breakfast. With family and friends. It's a VERY NICE Family restaurant. The owners visit with you, the staff remembers you, the food is extremely reasonably priced. You get enough food per person for 2 meals. The staff remembers what your favorites are to order. Love this place .... 5 STARS!!!!
The food is always good. The service is usually good. The atmosphere is relaxed but nice. I loe that it is locally and family owned. You can frequently see one of the owners working when you stop in for a meal.
Nice, clean dinner, for a Sunday morning breakfast. Good food, quick friendly service.
Love this neighborhood place. Quiet, nicely lit, waitress was really nice and friendly. Food was very good, decent variety, prices very ok. My hubby and I go there 2-3 times a month. Would be more, but just too tired to go on week night after work. Will continue to go ad long as they stay open. A LONG time more, I hope!!🍔🍟🥪🍗🥗🥓🍳🥧🍛🍧🍽
Came in for lunch before a movie and I was pleasantly surprised. Quailty was top notch, portion sized was perfect, maybe even a little too much. But what blew me away was ghe mac and cheese for my sons kids meal. Homemade mac and cheese was the best I've had (aside from my moms) The quiet friendly atmosphere was great. Service was good. Very attentive servers. Will be coming back.
What can I say but always great meals. I usually have enough leftovers for two more meals. Their Lemon Chicken Soup is always good. Great hosts & servers.
Wonderful atmosphere and very pleasant staff. If you are looking for an amazing and delicious fish fry, trying this place is a must. I really enjoy my experience here everytime.
Great casual dining experience. Food was good, large menu with plenty of variety, and amazing service. Prices were very reasonable and this will definitely become a regular stop for me.
Great tasting food at affordable prices
Never been there before. My son took me there for my birthday breakfast everything was phenomenal delicious fast service great and courteous waitresses. And the restaurant is very clean.. I will return for future meals there.
This is THE standard-comfort food place. It has all the classics you're looking for, and you know exactly what you're getting. Which is why its great. No thinking is required, you want a great meal any time of day? This is the diner to go to. The prices are very fair and the quality is great. I've been going here for years and have always had great service. I can recall one time my steak wasn't cooked correctly. No problem! it was solved and I had a fresh one right away. I pass by other diners to come here.
This is a go to for my family for a quick lunch or breakfast. The food is always good and the waitresses are friendly. Not very expensive. Plus they are nice and helpful when my 10yr old orders off menu lol. This time she ordered 1 pancake, 1 egg, and mozzarella sticks lol. There were 3 of us.
Showed up on Sunday, forgetting it was Mother's Day. Despite the crowd, we were given a table right away. 3-4 coffee refills throughout the morning. A little wait for food, not surprising given the traffic of the holiday. Bottom line - the food here is fantastic. The two of us ordered an omelet, pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits - we ordered a lot and ate it over 3 meals, still didnt break the bank. what a great Gates spot
Great place for breakfast. Best eggs bennie in Rochester, by far! Really appreciate the fast & friendly service.
Great breakfast, great service, and a nice clean place. I had biscuits and gravy with eggs, hash browns, and toast. Everything came out hot, fresh, and tasty! I now have a great diner spot for breakfast.
Friendly, clean, tasty food, fast service. Typical diner fair , I am not at all upset about that. You get exactly what you expect and leave very satisfied. Will be back. Great spot for a quick or slow breakfast
Typical diner atmosphere, a little noisy. Food was good. Waitress was great. Food came in reasonable amount of time. Crepes had the jelly like fruit filling (not a fan), everything else was good. Hash browns were delicious. I recommend this place for breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Great food, atmosphere, service and value.
Staff was kind. I enjoyed the food. My son liked the art on the wall and his cheeseburger.
Great food, the servers are always nice and welcoming, definitely recommended!!
My daughter loves it here. The food is always good. I love the lemon chicken soup! They have good Greek food. My daughter loves their breakfast and milkshakes.
I've been at Pixley's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What I just found out is that there's a different menu for all three! Breakfast is served all day, if you're wondering. Food is exactly what you want diner food to be... good and decently priced for what you get. I've yet to have a "bad" server. They're always pleasant and check on you almost to the point of being annoying...🤣🤣. Overall, a great place to go and grab a bite!
Great food and great price. Services was good a little slow but that was ok. A++
The place is a amazing family diner. I have been there twice and the food has not disappointed me yet. Can be busy. And the staff can seem to be a bit overwhelmed.
It was Sunday at 1. I go because I love their southern fried steak breakfast! But our service was incredibly slow this time
Just what we were looking for at breakfast before the matinee at the Tinseltown
The restaurant had very nice decor, a warm and inviting feeling. The staff was pleasant, and they still had full menus. The food didn't take very long to get to the table. The food filled my plate and was hot! I enjoyed my trip there very much!
We hadn't been to Pixley's Restaurant in a lot of years, so we decided recently to revisit there for dinner. There was more than enough parking when we arrived. The restaurant was about 3/4 full during our visit. We were seated quickly and given menus. The atmosphere was pleasant and bright. We looked over the menu, seeing a large selection and variety of food choices, at reasonable prices. Our first visit went very well, so we've been back for dinner more than once, ordering a variety of meals, and each visit has gone without any problems. Service during our visits has been friendly, prompt, and fairly efficient. On a recent visit, we ordered a Pilgrim Panini dinner, as well as a fried chicken dinner. Both meals were good, with fairly large portions of food, at reasonable prices. Including beverages, the bill from our recent visit totaled just under $23. This place is probably best described as a family restaurant. We'll continue to explore new places to eat but, we'll also keep Pixley's in mind when we're looking for a familiar place to eat with consistent results. We have not had breakfast here, but that's definitely something we want to do. Enjoy.
We go there very often on Sunday mornings with friends. This Sunday July 26, 2015 we went as usual but had my little granddaughter with. Asked for a table or both for 4 plus high chair. The girl doing the seating was going to seat us way in back in the corner when there were tables open and booths for 4 where she could have put a highchair on the end. She very nasty insisted that was the only available place to seat us. When I pointed out other places she nastily said no. Now if another set of people of 4 came in and needed a highchair they would have had to wAit for us to finish eating, I highly doubt it. I have loved coming there an waitress' aware great. This girl is new to us but has absolutely no business dealing with people. She was fairly young with long blond pony tail, really nasty in dealing with people. I will think twice before returning.
Welcoming family run restaurant; knowledgeable, friendly and courteous waitress; food arrived super fast and was fresh and good! I had the burger, which was done perfectly. Would definitely recommend!
Okay so this review is a little different. First of all it's a nice neat place. The waitress and hostess were really nice. Very polite and accommodating. Now this is where there is a split of opinions. I had the steak and eggs, hash browns etc.. I was not pleased with my meal. To be exact it was the steak. Didn't come the way I ordered but I think that's bc it's so thin. Well it tasted like cardboard. Now mom son was with me and he ordered the Gyro. He was very pleased. Said it was delicious. So I'll go one more time and try something else and see. At the end of it the waitress did adjust the bill. I didn't even ask. As I said the staff is very nice.
It was good breakfast for only 5.99. It was quiet and calm that morning. I loved the crispy bacon and eggs. The hash brown could have stood on the flat top a little longer. The waitress was pretty and nice. Not a bad place at all.
I love this place, but charging extra for the use of your debit/credit card is unfair. Coffee is almost 3. They provide refills but the cups are at least 6oz. By the time you get a refill, you're almost done with your meal. I waited several minutes for it.. so paying for 12 ounces of coffee isn't fair. We are all going through some crisis to the point that going out to eat is getting too expensive. One another thing, I don't appreciate people cleaning and I have to smell what ever it is they're using. It kind of made feel off. I did mentioned it, but the hosted said, yes they were cleaning. As if it's alright. I don't know if I would return.
Was very bzy on a Sunday morning which we assumed indicated good food n service. We were correct! Fresh and tasty well cooked omelets and pancakes large portions and good coffee (a very important factor in my critique). Our server was so friendly and accommodating esp. as bzy as it was, I had to tip her out at 40%. HIGHLY recommend.
Great service from a friendly, experienced staff. They were able to accommodate a large party without warning and our coffee's weren't allowed to go cold. Breakfast wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was better than expected. I will definitely return for another meal.
I ordered the 10 pc buffalo wings and I was starving, by the end of it, I was full pretty much. The drinks came super fast but the food came after almost 30 minutes, which is long for me. The food was good, 5 stars, the service was 5 stars, but the waiting time was 3 stars, that why im giving this place a 4/5 stars.
A friend and I stopped by after work to get a to go order. The food was perfecto, and the service was personable and sincere and unlike any I have received at various Gates eateries. I will say while the aesthetics is less than appealing with its outdated decor; and it feels like an old, tired diner, you do get the sense that they are focused on customer service and not so much looks which is a priority for me. If the food is good and the service is up to snuff, then I am good. Unfortunately, I learned the place is up for sale and Gates could lose a good thing. Its family owned and has been a staple in the community and those are hard to replace. People should be more mindful ad grateful and less quick to slam the place that has served you and your neighbors for years. My neighbors in Spencerport love this place. Just saying.
Fast food, typical breakfast food. Ill definitely go back
I didn't like the flavor of the 1/2 chicken dinner so I didn't eat it. The service was good our waitress was attentive to our needs. The others enjoyed their meal.
Average, but doable. I went for lunch but breech fine I'll try breakfast.
Not great but not bad. Very average breakfast fare. Restaurant was clean but very dated. Service was attentive - kudos there. Kinda feels like they're just getting by though.
I went for breakfast and was alone except for two other people at a different table. One waitress took care of us. The service was slow. The food was average but the prices were high. I had an omelet, toast, sausage and home fries, drink with tip was $22. I'm not going there again.
My family really likes this restaurant but our last dining experience wasn't great. There were flies and a spider on our table, the food took awhile even though they weren't very busy, and when the food came out it was only ok. Eggs Benedict was just poorly done and the hash browns were under cooked and colored with a ton of paprika instead of getting their coloring from appropriate cook time. We may give it another try but this won't be where we bring our family when they are in town for a local meal.
Reading other reviews, must have been an off-day. Ordered the maryland crabcake sandwich. I first thought they gave me the veggie burger but no, it did have a mild crab flavor. However it no way resembled a true maryland crab cake. Fairly dry and tasteless. Otherwise coffee was good and service also. Prices reasonable for quantity.
Overpriced food, nothing special. Quick service, a varied menu, & they give you a good sized plate to make up. One of those dinners, I wouldn't go there for a dinner but as a brunch pitstop it's a solid choice.
Very good food, staff was very nice and polite, service was good however server did forgot to bring bread to our table and when our drinks were empty server did not ask or offer a refill, restaurant would have got-in 5 stars but did not for those two main reasons
The food was excellent, and the waitress was very attentive. However, I took my time to enjoy my meal, and when I stood up to leave the hostess very loudly and rudely went "oh my God, finally" and rolled her eyes at me. Will not be returning.
Went here for breakfast last week. The service was very good, the waitress kept everyone's coffee full and the food came out fairly quickly. The food itself was pretty good, but thought it was way overpriced. Pancakes, a side of bacon and an orange juice cost $12. For a diner-type restaurant, could be a bit more affordable.
Used to be a staple dining spot while Mom and Dad were alive. 10+ years. Went solo for breakfast 3+ months ago, great eggs Benedict. Tried it again solo Friday night; broiled haddock very tasty; no tarter needed. Cole slaw was lacking pineapple; waitress mentioned running out and the Chef had to make a quick batch; might have skipped the pineapple. My waitress (Valerie) very personal-able. Warm Italian Bread beats a dinner roll 100%.
I've been going to Pixley's for many years. I'm glad they survived the Pandemic. On a recent visit I had an enormous salad. I only ate maybe 1/4 of it because it was so large. I enjoyed it due to the warm, grilled chicken on top. My husband had Linguini and clams. He said it was okay but felt it was bland. I've always felt that Pixley's provided a generous portion for the money. I wish they'd make a better effort in cleaning the women's restroom. The service was fine.
The service was odd server kept coming over and leaving without us giving her an answer. Food was ok but the prices were high.
Food was just ok. Had a croissant-wich that was mostly lettuce and mayo. Got up charged for fries that came out scaldingly hot, but somehow still undercooked on the inside. Overall just a meh experience.
We were seated fairly quickly, but the food took forever to come out. The hash browns were terrible, no flavor. Server was very friendly.
I did a review a while back and gave 4 stars. But now have to change it. They recently did some sort of repairs or something like that. I came back and everything has gone down hill. They are only open till 2 now and the food quality has gone way down. The table I was at was sticky like it had a coating on it. There were flys flying around and there were some on the wall next to me. Also I like the new peeling wallpaper and holes in the wall.
The food could be better, doesn't always taste fresh. My grandmother enjoys going due to the prices and staff but the food needs some work. Typical diner experience and setting.
Food was okay. Our server wasnt too friendly...she wasn't mean or anything, but not welcoming. The lady grabbing our dirty dishes seemed more friendly. The deserts were a little over priced for the amount given.
Tried this place for the first time and right away I had my doubts from the exterior appearance to start, bushes are so overgrown they are covering the sidewalk leaving no room for customers to walk, the landscape looks like it hasn't been done in years, the windows are filthy, spiderwebs filled the corners of the entranceway door and windows, appearance of a establishment is so very important and should look inviting and this is far from the case! We arrived at 12pm and were greeted at the door and seated then realized we were given breakfast menus when asked for lunch menus she proceeded to hand us just 1 when clearly there was 2 of us, I noticed right away there was a open used creamer container sitting on my table and asked politely if the table was washed and I caught a terrible attitude from possibly the owner who stated yes it was and sometimes the servers do this when they are walking thru to serve someones coffee...SERIOUSLY?!?! Who does that?? Then we met our server who had no personality whatsoever and seemed to have a chip on her shoulder and I then noticed the owner standing right next to us watching our transaction as if we were there to cause isues and thats concerning to me since my daughter and I were only there to have lunch and be on our way. We placed our order and five min later the owner comes to my table to let me know they don't have any mac salad, mind you its 12pm and theres no mac salad? Ok whatever I ordered onion rings. We received our meals and were not impressed at all, wasn't terrible but not anything I would call home about.and the server seemed to be trying to rush us out. Needless to say I won't be returning.
Soup only warm. Gyro meat burned on one side, prices ridiculous. Tzaziki sauce flavorless. Sat us near the booth they use to sort flatware and the noise of them throwing it into sort trays made conversation difficult. Always looked forward to going here but think this was my last visit.
Was looking for a diner for a late breakfast and tried this place. One word sums it up - underwhelming. The prices are quite high, which I wouldn't have minded had the food been good - which it was not. The home fries were old, to the point that they were tasteless. The grilled hard roller that I ordered was totally flat - wasn't even an actual hard roll like anything I've ever seen before. The $ 9 Belgian waffle the I ordered was pretty much tasteless as well. When we ached for extra napkins we were given one each - the waitress actually took the other 2 back. I should have known better than to stop here - 10 AM and there was only one other customer in the place. In fact, it looked closed so I had to check the front door to see if it was locked. The entire place is quite dated including the restrooms. Like I said, I don't mind paying for decent food, but at half the price l, it still would have been too much.
I didn't see any updates from when it was Denny's . From the same equipment to the same lights. Food was poorly prepared and served like it was thrown on a plate. They canceled our check and couldn't manage to get jt to hold a new check, their card machine was down without notice. I had to write a check. The Service didn't stay on top of the table and never let us know there was a problem until we got tired of waiting for our check. Today... have after effects... will NOT go there again.
The food did not taste good and you definitely didn't get enough food for the cost. Server dropped off food and never came back. We had to ask a manager for it for a check.
i feel bad for the waitress staff; they'd get better tips if the cook or manager actually cared enough to serve even remotely good tasting food. i got a menu at lunch and even though i am not a vegetarian, i craved pasta or something without meat this specific day. i had to ask the waitress why there was nothing but salads as an entree option without meat. she went and got me the dinner menu to order from which the ONLY thing besides salads now was pasta entrees so i didn't have but a few choices. i ordered the stuffed shells. the food came at a reasonable time but at a price. my shells were not even steaming. and they looked like someone mashed them with a fork.. besides the fact they were awfully tiny. four tiny SQUASHED shells. the first shell i began to cut open was somewhat difficult. it was rubbery and then almost harder in some spots. opened them up, still zero steam. took my first bite. sure enough- i could tell right away they were not only frozen but microwaved. i don't even use my microwave at home. it's incredibly unhealthy for you and it takes the nutrients with radiation poisoning right out of your food. it's like eating cake without any flavor. empty calories. i felt bad for the waitress so i didn't complain. she didn't make it. i didn't pay (thank god), someone i was with-did. a hard roll and cole slaw came with my meal. the roll, i cut and noticed it seemed hard. i decided it couldn't be worse than the pasta but i was surely wrong. the only good aspect about it was the packaged butter. the roll was stale and rubbery. i had to quietly spit it out into my napkin. the cole slaw was good. that's sad when that's the only thing you can find that was good. my guest had a cheeseburger and fries. i tried theirs. the fries were soggy and flavorless without seasoning. (probably soggy because they were void of salt and left in their own grease). tried their burger and it tasted like a wendy's burger. now i haven't eaten fast food in almost a decade but if i wanted a cheap, (who knows where it came from and what's really in it) burger, i'd have actually gone to a fast food joint. their prices were atrocious. $13 for stuffed frozen microwaved shells. NEVER AGAIN.
Ordered 2 Turkey Club sandwiches last week. There was literally two thin slices of turkey deli meat on each sandwich for $15 dollars. Total rip-off. Will never order from here again. Horrible experience.
My family had a movie day at Tinseltown & decided to have an early dinner at Pixley's. We wanted to try somewhere we haven't been & its close by. We truly regret our decision & the $72 we paid for that decision. I really can only blame myself because when we walked in, my gut told me to turn around & make a run for it! Every entree we ordered was so disappointing. From the wedding soup, rolls, chicken parm, chicken cordon & lemon chicken!! Nothing truly even appeared to be inviting. Well, you live & learn! Thanks for the learning experience Pixley's.
$58 for 4 omelettes & coffees!!! 🙄 Undercooked potatoes, mushy canned ingredients, overcooked eggs and worse coffee. This place is for seniors who can't taste anything anymore. Head into the city for better options.
If I could give zero stars I would. I had mold on my toast and they only comped my meal , they didn’t even apologize. My waitress then came over and said I should have gotten white toast like everyone else at my table, my friend said something back to her about that and she said it was just a joke. She then went on to say “well we don’t sell italian toast that often so” and walked away. They took my meal off the bill but still made me pay for the drinks. On the way out we told the manager about the experience and she said “she’s not from here so her sense of humor is different”. my friend then said “okay well maybe you should teach her the proper way to interact with customers”. The manager then said “I don’t care” as we walked out.
If I could do no stars I would, we waited over an hour for our breakfast, they didn't even come to tell us they were running behind. If anything, super upset, the menu's were super old and sticky which should have been a clue to us, would not recommend this place to anyone!!! Mcdonald's is better!!!
Omg! Asked for a medium well steak it was over cooked and they actually served it. Cook seems to have no knowledge on steak temps, also pancakes were firm and cold. Prices needs to correlate with their food because its definitely not worth it.
Food and Service was excellent, however when I cashed out ,left $4 cash tip on the table for the waitress, wrote "cash tip" tip on the tip line. When the bill was posted on my bank statement $4 was added to my bill! Bill was $11.86, bank statement reflected 15.86. this is unacceptable.
I went there for lunch with my brother and we both ordered their All American Burger. The waitress seemed disinterested and lazy. We got our food pretty quickly but both of our burgers had soggy bottom buns which made for a terrible experience eating the burger. My hands were drenched in what seemed like burger juices and grease. The burger wasn't terrible but the sogginess meant the burger was falling apart. When asked for additional napkins, the waitress brought us only two napkins and took them off unseated tables that had unused napkins. At one point during our meal, one of the employees was vacuuming the floor around us. And towards the end of our meal when we were just eating our french fries, our waitress comes to our table, asks us if we were done with the ketchup container, takes it away from us and gives it to the table next to us. It made me wonder if they only had one ketchup container or if the waitress was just that lazy to get another one.
We ordered a to go order and they said 20 to 25 minutes. we stand there for 45 minutes . And the salad had no dressing and the burger had no pickles. Poor customer serviced
I have been eating here for about 4 years and its been going downhill. Ths main problem is there is no management. The waitstaff has to manage themselves and the kitchen. The cook in the morning seems to do whatever he wants. There is no quality control on the food.He has a foul mouth. The music and singing coming from the kitchen is foul. I am going to miss sherry my favprite seever but i just cant return here.7
Service was slow, but pleasant and they weren't busy. When I sent the food back due to mistake and stated it was due to an allergy, they only scraped the pasta off the plate. I became ill from this critical mistake.
My husband's milk was bad sour must have been out dated. His Pepsi was flat. I had eggs Benedict the holindase sauce was awful no flavor runny dark yellow. Sausage gravy had no flavor at all ,will not go back.
Came here with my daughter and husband recently and unfortunately had Brittney as our server. Service was terrible, food was cold like it had been sitting in the back for awhile, and just an overall bad experience. Our server was RUDE, unhelpful, and would only acknowledge while being very flirty with my husband. I get being flirty for tips, but in front of the man’s family? Very uncomfortable! I wanted to like this place, maybe if they had better servers.
Dirty place. I saw roaches scamper on the floor. No thanks
Grumpy hostess, grumpy waitress, old stale coffee, extremely slow service, worst breakfast I have ever had, that’s going some! Inedible. This place used to be pretty good, must have changed hands. I won’t be going back anytime soon.
Chicken on our sandwiches were frozen patties and had poor taste/texture. Sauce tasted like it came from Dollar General. Not sure if owners changed or what but it was night and day over meals we’ve had there in the past.
I came here today for breakfast and it was horrible. The restaurant wasn't busy but I waited almost 40 minutes for my breakfast. The creamer that I put in my coffee was spoiled so I had to get a whole nother cup. I ordered two eggs over medium with hash browns soft, ham and toast. The toast was burnt, the eggs were slimy, not cooked over medium as I requested, and my hash browns were dry with no flavor at all. I tasted the hash browns and there was a nasty taste that lingered in my mouth. Needless to say, I refuse to eat the meal and I told him to take it off my bill and I left. I will never come back here.
Went for breakfast and my daughter ordered Italian toast. The toast had mold on it. She told the waitress that it was moldy and she got the manager, the manager offered something else and she declined. The waitress came back and said "well you should have got the whole toast, we don't sell much Italian toast". The the manager said "Don't mind her comments she isn't from here so I don't care what she says". I would never return. Customer service is a common practice no matter where you're from!
Sherry was terrible af customer service. She was not around when we needed her to ask us how our meal was, to get us our reciept and a few other things. The crepe that I got was not fresh, it was canned jam on the inside and so I told Sherry that I was dissatisfied and she didnt offer to get me anything else or take it off the bill, she just said let me get it out of your way. We had to get help from another waiter who actually cared about how our meal was, she corrected Sherry's mistakes and felt for us. This new waiter offered us free pie because of Sherry's mistakes, helped us with our bill and made up for our experience.
