Opinions de 888 Seafood Restaurant Rosemead
Enjoyed the meal at a dinner party tonight. Especially enjoyed the shrimp salad. So refreshing! Loved the sweet chili dressing. All the courses were good and well flavored while not too salty. Had not been here for a while. Great space for a dinner, karoake and dancing! For a dinner party of 14 tables, service was really good! They even provided extra chopsticks for serving and were good about refilling the ice bucket.
D li cious. Attentive service. Fabulous ceiling n lighting.
This was the go-to restaurant for my coworkers and me when I worked for a company in Rosemead. I loved to come here for lunch on the days I didn't pack my lunch. My favorites include premium ha gow, black truffle siu mai, sparerib in black bean sauce, steamed beef ball, honey bbq bun, deep fried pork dumpling, steamed rice noodle roll with bitter melon and shredded chicken, steamed rice noodle roll with bbq pork etc. The food is tasty and the service is pretty good. I enjoy eating here in a relaxing atmosphere.
Cantonese, authentic. Was here for an insurance meeting and the dim sum served was hot. Great pan fried pork bun. Very good meat and bbq pork rice noodle. It's a athursday, no waiting in the main dining room. I could see you that you order from the menu, no carts. I also checked out the large banquet room...min6 tables easily accolades 12 tables...the gorgeous 180 degree coral fish tank is a video, which means you can upload baby pics, birthday pics, banners of happy birthday....basically personalize the room...I asked for the cost...and I believe there's no rxyra cost just a min of $600 per table. They have preset banquet menus.
We haven't been here for many years. This restaurant has been around for a long time. Very typical big Chinese banquet type restaurant. We came here for a doctor friend's office Christmas party. Don't know if the food was special ordered for the occasion but everything was first class ingredients and presentation. Absolutely delicious! There were like 10 different plates and every plate was great! BBQ pork and ginseng black chicken soup were my favorites. We has a great time!
Food is great and taste fresh, banquet sizes are huge. We had this location as our wedding reception and everyone enjoyed it, 25 tables on the left side of room (smaller size and people were able to move around comfortable, even had a few people in wheelchairs that were able to move around as well. John was very helpful and accommodating to our needs. Only complaint would be that he did give us the layout for reception, but layout day of was not the same, making it difficult to plan around day of reception. Also party on the other side of room speaker was very loud so tables that were near the partition wall was kind of hard to hear what was going on on our side.
This is our go to restaurant to get our fix. They serve this cold cilantro, onion and soy sauce chicken that we can’t find in the Torrance So Bay Area. The Peking duck was also very good. Dessert was ground taro, chestnut and lotus seeds in a clear sweet syrup. Just a FYI, This restaurant is always booked for wedding banquets on Saturdays. Sundays are better if you don’t like the celebration and music from the main event.
Great food and service. First thing you may notice are the huge LCD wall panel screens. Very unique for a Chinese restaurant and perhaps useful for event venues there. Only gripe would be the lack of soundproofing. We had to eat dinner listening to the restaurant's karaoke tables next to us. Would prefer a quieter meal.
We celebrated closing out the Lunar New Year here. It was very busy. As a larger party of 14, they served us well. The food was slow in coming out, but that was expected. When they have a full restaurant and each table has a custom order, not a banquet menu, I have to give them credit for preparing each dish properly without cutting corners.
Mixed impressions of the place. Gladly no wait when we arrived. The duck is amazing, however the chashu is salty and dry. Tried their Sichuan fish with mustard greens which is flavorful, but the noodles are dry and flavorless. It does depends on what dishes you'd order.
If you come on a weekend it will definitely be packed but on a weekday it’s very doable. You get to sit down and order tea $1.50 - charged per person. Then you order your dimsum / plus any other dishes from the paper menu and the food comes out. The dimsum is decent quality. I’ve had better and had worse as well. Most of the dimsum will start at $5.90 a plate and higher. The cheapest is $5.50. Parking in the lot shared with the other establishments in the plaza is not bad but can get really packed on weekends. Restrooms are OK and decently clean. Arrive early on weekends to get a number for a table if you have a big party. Otherwise on a weekday it’s totally doable without planning ahead as plenty of tables are open. Their fried rice was burnt :(
Delicious food, slow service. This very special Chinese restaurant is located very close to Rosemead Blvd and Valley Blvd. The parking is easy if you willing to walk further in the parking lot. The food is very specific from the Canton region in China, so you have to like it and have some special dishes in your mind. However, since I was there for a company party, so the food was on the top of the line. I certainly like all the seafood that they cook. They were very fresh, high quality and delicious! However, the service was slow when they were busy. I can imagine that the price will be high if you order lobster, scallops and the top shell. You may want to save it for special occasions. You will not be disappointed!
We were there for dim sum. The food was not quite fresh, some were barely warm. We suspect they just heat it up the when we order. It's def overpriced for the quality of food. Steam charsui bao was the worst. The place was not crowded/full but we had to stand up to get service. Not very friendly customer service either. It's ok if you don't mind paying more for mediocre and service. It's prob the only place on SGV with no wait line on Saturday.
We were invited to an event inside the restaurant, the parking lot fills up quickly because it is poorly organized, the staff hardly speaks English, the food is average, the prices are somewhat high, the atmosphere is good, fun, and very safe since they have security guards at the entrance and in the lobby (we loved that). We will consider this place for one of our future events.
Instead of picking up the dishes from moving carts, you order from the menu. It gave the impression that dishes were made upon order so would be more fresh. Not really unfortunately: the bbq pork pastry was luke warm, so was the radish cake. The only item that impressed us is the black lava bun, as you can see from the video. Two items never arrived even after we finished all the food, so we ended up cancelling. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable.
I don’t like their steamed meat, like chicken feet (tastes strange), short-rib (rice noodle roll below), spareribs (too fat). But I think the chiu chow dumplings, bean curd and beef offal are ok. Came too early and they don’t have pig blood curd and marinated tofu yet. Today is the first day of summer time so I didn’t wait at their opening time. Service is pretty good though. About 60 dollars for 7 dishes.
Went for dim sum at noon today, extremely hard to find a parking spot. Ordered classic Premium Har Gow, Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai, Sparerib in Black Bean Sauce, Steamed Chicken Feet in Brown Sauce, BBQ Pork Bun. All came out the same time, fairly fast after ordering. But unfortunately, they were all under par, in both quantity and taste. Also ordered Soybean sprouts, Custard Egg Tart, Steamed Egg Yolk Cream Bun. These three tasted okay. Not crowded during lunch time on a Saturday. Due to tough parking, and so so food, will not recommend.
