First time visit and this will be my go-to place for Sesame chicken! Very generous portion, chicken is crispy and fried to perfection with great sauce. Casual atmosphere, servers were attentive.
Hao-Hao Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine is one of the few places left that actually does Egg Foo Young right. That dish alone puts them in a different category for me. The Egg Foo Young was excellent. Proper texture, rich gravy, and clearly made with care rather than rushed. The rest of the food was just as solid. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was fresh and flavorful, the Crab Wontons were crisp without being greasy, and even the rice was cooked properly, which is something many places overlook. Yes, it is on the pricier side. But I am more than willing to pay a higher price when the food quality justifies it, and here it absolutely does. Portions were fair, flavors were consistent, and nothing felt like a shortcut. The dining room is calm and comfortable, pickup was smooth, and the focus here is clearly on doing things right rather than pushing volume. If you care about quality over cheap, especially for classic dishes like Egg Foo Young, this place is worth it.
10/10 Smacking!!! Beef delight, Less sauce, No mushroom And cooked well done And spicy mild crushed chilis 🥵 Beyond amazing I had served Alyas I hope I got his name right but he is a homie for sure. Took such great care of my husband and I. I told him what I was craving, his recommendation and he was a true guide. Orange chicken 😋 Everything was delish
If you grew up having "east coast chinese food" ie philly / NJ/tristate areas HOA HOA makes their Chinese food the same way! I've been in texas for over 5 years, and this is the first place I've found that has GREAT food - with that same taste i grew up with in the philly/NJ area! Food was hot, fresh, and tasty! Portions were large and generous. Chicken was chicken - real meat, good quality! PLUS they offer Vietnamese food as well - vermencelli bun, pho, and more which also looked great i will have to come back again to try. Service was very good, restaurant was very clean and comfortable to dine in. This made my whole day!
I was showing the wife a video that had some fine Asian dining on it. Lo and behold. That's what she wanted to eat. Hao Hao is a restaurant we found during covid that we used to order from all the time but we've never actually come and sat down at this place. We walked in and it was empty which was a good thing as it allowed me to take these beautiful pictures. Though it was one early dinner so there is time for people to show up. Once seated the server came up with water and we ordered crab rangoon and the hot and sour soup. The crab rangoon was so delicious. It was crispy and you could taste the crab. The hot and sour soup was very thick, like a traditional soup and not watered down like a lot of restaurants. For our entrees, my wife decided to get the pork ribs and I decided to get the happy family platter. The four pork ribs for $9 for a huge. The Mrs made me eat two of her ribs so I was already halfway full before I started my food. The happy family so it was awesome. Every piece of protein that they offer chicken, beef, shrimp pork. All mixed together with a little bit of fried rice which you can choose what type of rice you want. I forgot to mention that he chose fried rice. They also offer this extra fried rice to go since we had a little bit left over a plate. Normally we get a dessert and we would have gotten the Chinese beignets but we were so full we did pass on that. Lore East. I gave four stars for the atmosphere cuz I would have liked to see more people inside cuz in the time that we were there eating dinner no one came in. But they do a lot of to go and take out. So the food's fantastic. They've been here forever. Definitely come and check it out.
Update: I have to say this is now out favorite place for Chinese! We just love it. 🤤 Thank you for the great service and food! Great experience. Waitstaff was very good. Food was fast and hot. Payment and check was fast. Egg roll was delicious and crispy. Egg drop soup tasted like corn, but it was good. For me the sesame chicken had excessive sauce… just too sweet for me and thick. My son enjoyed his Kung pao chicken. The lunch menu was reasonably priced and the atmosphere is a bit in need of an update, but I think that can add to its charm as well if you like that feel. I like supporting local.
We’ve ordered catering from Hao Hao a few times for Round Rock Honda’s Saturday lunches, everyone LOVES the food from here and gets so excited whenever we cater! We see it as a way to look forward to the end of the month and celebrating our accomplishments. Katie helps coordinate the catering orders and she’s always so sweet!! Thanks always for the delicious food and amazing service, Katie and the rest of the Hao Hao team! I highly recommend everyone to come here for catering!! :)
This has been my most favorite chinese place in Austin for years. Whenever I'm in Austin, i order from this place. This time, I went there for dinner with family, totaling 7 people. The server was extremely helpful and polite. The food was absolutely delicious as always. Had the Hunan shrimp, Peppery shrimp, Imperial chicken, Mongolian beef, and veggies delight, all with Fried rice. Everyone enjoyed the food and loved the feast and environment.
Made my first visit here in many years since moving away from Round Rock in 2009. I enjoyed it then and it is just as delicious today as I remember from back in the day. After all these years it's got staying power. Asian food restaurants are much like many Mexican restaurants I enjoy...there are a lot of good ones to choose from but only one or two that you keep going back to regularly. Hao Hao is in one of those categories for Asian food restaurants. It hits on all cylinders for menu variety (both Chinese and Vietnamese), quality ingredients, fast preparation, friendly staff, delicious taste, competitive prices.
Our waiter was timely and attentive and I enjoyed the food more than I thought I would! We wanted the crab wontons originally and were brought the wonton soup by mistake. However, my man loved it so much he didn't send it back lol.. I'm usually a bit nervous about strip mall restaurants but this place impressed me. Everything came out so hot and we'll definitely be coming back.
I lived in the Houston area before moving to Round Rock area and they had a restaurant that sold awesome combination rice. I wanted to find a place out hear and I found it. The rice had chicken, beef and shrimp and came with 5 different level of spice. I went with level 3. Me and the family loved it so much that I came back the next day to get more. The staff were great and so kind.
Absolutely impressed with my experience at Hao Hao. First and foremost the service was perfect. Hostess was friendly and my waiter was on top of everything. Very courteous. I ordered the Mongolian beef, which is my go to when trying a new restaurant. The beef could definitely be spicier, and I didn’t really care for celery in the dish itself. But these are more preferences and did not take away from the experience. The egg roll was perfection. I will be returning when I am in the area again.
I was out of town for a week and got back and was craving Chinese food. I had read some reviews on Hao Hao Vietnamese and decided to give them a try. I ordered curry with shrimp, sesame beef and something I hadn’t had in decades, egg foo young with chicken. We were very pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity of food. We ordered everything with rice and ere very pleased. The sesame beef was pretty much as expected. The curry rice was full of flavor and not too spicy. The egg foo young was really excellent and a very large portion. They gave two “omelette patties“ with chicken and a sauce that was nicely flavored. I had placed the order online, and despite being dinner time, the order was ready when I arrived. Next time, I’m going to invite friends to join us for dinner at the restaurant!
I had the chicken cashew. It was take out. I loved the people and the atmosphere. When I got home with the food it was still pipping hot and enough for two people! However, the chicken pieces were too big and when forked they strung together by the stretchy stuff in chicken you encounter when the chicken isn’t fully done. There were plenty vegetables and cashews but the vegetables weren’t done. The celery was mostly raw with that raw taste and the cashews tasted old and were dark brown as if cooked overly long in the sauce. The sauce wasn’t tasty. Very blah fried rice, no egg or bean sprouts and very few vegs. The rice was gummy. The dish just wasn’t worth going for.
Reminded me of the army. Meat from the 90s, and hot water from a kettle poured on top. Your cook is 100% from a burger restaurant. I couldn't eat that, it was disgusting !!!
So on the app when you order takeout they have a special that says BOGO. Well that’s not really a good deal, first of all, we got the Sesame Chicken for 20.00. You get the Chicken and fried rice only. After we ate( which the Sesame Chicken was mostly batter) i decided to look at the app again. If you order the Sesame Chicken by itself, it was $11.95. And you get an egg roll and soup. How is it BOGO for 20.00 when the meal is 11.95 and you get egg roll and soup?
We have been coming here for years and use to love the lunch menu and everything that came with it. When they got rid of the egg rolls on the lunch plate we were slightly disappointed but then still continued to come here. We came here again for lunch today and the wanton soup was very plain tasting, the fried rice dish was not like it use to be and on top of that my husband found a long black hair in the middle of his lunch plate. They comped the lunch meals but not the 2 appetizers we ordered, truly unbelievable. We are both extremely disappointed and will never be back here. This place has completely gone downhill. Please do better or this place will loose more patrons.
Ordered General Tso’s chicken on a Friday at 4:30pm (right when they opened for dinner) with pickup at 5:15. What I got was genuinely awful. General Tso’s is the gold standard for judging Chinese takeout: it should be tender, lightly crispy, and coated in a sticky, flavorful sauce. What they served was a chewy, soggy, over-salted mess. It looked nothing like what any sane person would expect. Seriously, Google a photo of General Tso’s and then look at what they had the nerve to box up. It’s borderline insulting. I don’t know who’s writing these positive reviews, but it’s hard to believe we ordered from the same place. Absolute garbage.
Been going here for 20 years. The last 4 years have really gone down hill. Raising the prices is bad enough but they’ve also reduced the amount of food you get. What once was enough for 2 meals is now enough for 1 & cost $14. I’ve always ordered the same thing but today was the worst. There is absolutely no flavor in my chicken vermicelli. It’s like they just cooked the chicken then cooked the noodles & put it in the box. I thought it was bad enough that it was hit & miss depending on who the chef was, some times it was great other times it was covered in some kind of hard fish flakes that made it impossible to eat but this is sadly the last time we’ll order here. I was surprised this was the first time we’ve gotten so much chicken but then I realized there’s hardly any noodles. I could have spent the same amount for 2 people to have edible dinner, what a waste.
