Opinions de Papi's Pies Round Rock
The saltenas are wonderful. I had never heard of them before I visited here. It was shaped like an empanada but the dough was far more flavourful. The fillings were also scrumptious - I had the beef and chicken. The chicken filling reminded me of pot pie filling while the beef was super tasty but a little bit spicy. The saltenas are the main attraction here, the strawberry-rhubarb pie wasn't note worthy.
Apparently, Papi’s Pies has only been around since 2017, but the place feels like an installment from the founding of Round Rock. My son and I had just been throwing rocks in the river and watching our sticks float over the falls before venturing north just a little ways before finding this little pie shop. All we tried was the Strawberry Rhubarb (my 9-year-old’s choice), but it hit the spot, especially with the whipped cream given to us on the side. The dishes show what I mean about having a “classic” look…not dissimilar to what you’d find in grandma’s kitchen.
We loved our experience here! This local café has an adorable garden entrance and cottage-core aesthetic. Everything from decor to tableware is eclectically "homey" in the best way. They are usually understaffed, so expect a wait when you first sit down, but sitting outside surrounded by the decorated birdhouses, hanging curtains and doors, and a slight breeze through the windchime, the wait was so pleasant that we didn't mind at all. Food came out extremely quickly once our order was taken. You can tell every staff member truly cares, especially the older man who we assume is Papi himself - he was so excited to tell us all about the delicious secret of their liège waffles! My boyfriend ordered the waffles and I ordered the croque madame croissant. The food was tasty and the entire experience was lovely. Though there was a constant flow of customers, it was not loud or overly-crowded like some other brunch places in Austin. We didn't try one of their lauded pies this time, but we will definitely be back to eat here again!
I came in to pick up some pie for my mom who was vising town. Cute little shop. I like the feel of it. I ended up getting the strawberry rhubarb and lemon meringue. I was also considering getting a slice of the tres leches but the slice was slightly smaller so he just let me have it. Even if he didn't hook it up I would have still given them 5 stars because my mom loved it. We didn't even know what rhubarb was.
First time here last week and customer service was outstanding and the food was amazing 😍 10/10. The croissant and orange juice was sooo good 😊
We stopped on a cold rainy Wednesday morning on our way to Bell County to get our COVID vaccine. Papi graciously set up the heater for us. We ordered a coconut cream and raspberry rhubarb pie slices - both moist and flavorful with flaky crust. Our quiche was excellent, and it was served with a spinach salad granished with Parmesan cheese slices.
Literally the best food we've had in a long time. We went back twice because we loved it so much! The staff are sweet and the food is AMAZING! If you're in the area, definitely stop by for brunch! You won't regret it and the atmosphere of the patio sitting area is perfect
The guava pie is the BEST! We had two of their "sandwiches". They are more like a toast but really delicious. The coffee was very strong but really good. I had to add milk to it and I enjoyed it very much with the guava pie. We wanted to take some pie home (Houston) but they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We will make sure we return when we come to Austin. Now, the problem is that I am not able to find a place with guava pie in Houston. Someone help!! 🥺😂
We were in town to visit family, I like to search locally owned places/unique places to try. So glad I came across Papi's. The reviews were fantastic, so I thought we'd give it a try and so very glad we did. Absolutely delicious food, fantastic atmosphere and the staff/ owners are delightful. Will definitely be back when we're in town Addendum: grabbed some 'snacks' for our trip home... the macaroons are AMAZING! And the hazelnut pastry🤌🫶 so incredibly light and flaky Can't wait to eat the strawberry rhubarb pie
Love Papi’s Pies! Great food, pastries and pies of course. Friendly staff and a cute, cozy location. Good prices and easy to order for takeaway or dine in. We had the quiche Florentine with salad, Huitlacoche Crêpe and a chocolate croissant (drinks hot tea and a hot coffee). Everything was tasty, hot and fresh. Can’t wait to go back and try more 😋. Note: Dine in is limited to cafe style, so some tables inside/outside, not ideal for large groups (unless call ahead). Sorry we forgot to take photos of our food because we were so excited to eat and everything looked delicious, but here is a photo of a lovely mural they added - a must see.
I knew I would love it even before I visited! My daughter and I enjoyed some tea and conversation while we waited for our food to be prepared (it is NOT fast food). I really enjoyed the prosciutto and cheese tartine. Wonderful flavors! We'll definitely be back to try the Huitlacoche crepe and desserts!
Absolutely delicioso! We love the quaint setting (both outside and in) & José and Julio provide excellent, friendly service (making you feel like family) as well as impeccable delicious food served on fine china. It brings back warm childhood memories of our Mother's homemade pies and food. ♡
I have to say in total honesty they were the best empanadas I have ever had and I am originally a New Yorker and have had empanadas from amazing locations. I also have to say my daughter turned to me during her meal and said dad this is the best crepe I have ever had. I have never been a big fan of quiche but the quiche lorraine was very good also. This location is in a beautiful quiet setting and the food is top notch. You cannot go wrong coming here. We most definitely will be returning.
Cutest most cozy and great service place in town. It's truly a hidden gem. Had my 1st chicken salteña it was so fresh and juicy. Perfectly warm and well seasoned. My friends ordered beef salteña too and they loved them. . The Jamaica water was refreshing. There's a nice selection of pies.. the decor is cute and homey. The service was good, immediately were greeted and made our party of 6 feel welcomed. Offered is a high chair for my baby They were nice and even the dad came out to say good bye to my baby . Will be coming back to try more food next visit. Btw every table had fresh flowers what a nice touch. 💐
Casual little spot in old town RR. Good for brunch and offer a good variety on their menu, yummy food!
Really nice and cozy place that was recommended by our friends. The staff were very courteous. Food was 10/10 and everything from the menu stood out. Highly recommend this place.
Neat and comfortable little place, nice views in and outside. I really enjoyed my time there while working on CE. The owner Papi is very nice and accommodating. The food and pies are amazing and their coffee is a great compliment to them. Even took a couple of pies to-go for my staff. I’ll definitely be back often.
My husband and I came here for lunch, and everything was wonderful. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We can’t wait to come back again soon!
Oh my!!! A new favorite spot. Hate that it took me soo long to find it! Every menu item was fabulous 👌 but don't sleep on the pastries. Salted brown butter chocolate chip cookies are out-of-this-world good! Tried 1 and went back to buy him out! Can't wait to try more and become a weekly regular. Thanks Papi!
Breakfast was great! Wonderful presentation. Waffles were a hit with the kids and my crepe was delicious.
Took my wife for a birthday brunch. We really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere has a homie feeling and our waiter was very helpful. He made good recommendations and knew the dishes. Would definitely recommend trying!
Loved the food: had the chile poblano and croque madame which were so delightful and expertly cooked. Also had the sangria and lavender lemonade. Enjoyed the hazelnut croissant which was not as strong as the other dishes. The beef saltena was served very hot. 2 tips: portions are on the smaller side for my appetite so i ordered more which also brought the bill higher so just plan for that. Also, like everywhere, they seemed to be understaffed so we ate inside which helped in getting served. Will come back -- great to find French and Bolivian food!
I had a delightful brunch here with a friend and loved every moment of it! We enjoyed a salmon quiche, a Nutella crepe, a fresh side salad, and a raspberry rhubarb dessert. Every dish was perfectly prepared, and we savored every bite. The café itself is charming and cozy, and the service was outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and left with a belly full of wonderful food. We loved all of the dishes we ordered! Lavender lemonade: Not too sweet and has the right touch of Lavender notes. Peach tea: unsweetened with strong peach flavor. Quiche poblano: Hands down the best quiche I've ever had. It has a potato crust instead of your regular crust and man, that quiche was bomb! The side salad with Italian dressing went really well with the quiche and was excellent. Poblano crepe: Poblano sauce was delicious and this crepe had a good kick and was gone in a few minutes. Key lime pie and coffee mousse pie were wonderful too. I could only wish that I could get more portion size for the price. Edit: Hi! I don't know how to respond to your question so I'm editing the review and hope you see it. Oh man, I'd love a bigger slice of the quiche and a larger crepe 😋
We passed by this restaurant and decided to give it a shot -- it turned out to be a fantastic experience. Their Quiche Lorraine is the best quiche I've ever had in the US. It's thick and soft, full of cheese and bacon flavor, but not too dry nor salty. It's just perfectly seasoned. The Spanish cheesecake is amazing. I could see it's made of plenty of creme cheese but strangely it doesn't taste heavy at all, plus it has a slight flavor of creme brulee. Both my partner and I were very satisfied and we will definitely come back to try their salmon quiche and waffle. Highly recommended to everyone!
First time here and we loved it! Salmon quiche and poblano quiche for breakfast and then German chocolate cake and bourbon pecan pie for dessert! Amazing little whole in the wall place. Definitely will be back. Love the setting cute little country cottage. If the people next hadn't been mowing or whatever it was making all the noise it would have been so peaceful. Loved it!!
Cute little spot in Old Town Round Rock. So full of character and great food!! I had the Croque Madame and it was the best I’ve ever had. The own took a few moments to talk about the history behind of the Huitlacoche (corn truffle crepe) and how it was developed in Mexico in the 1800s by visiting French influences. It has a butterfield selfie wall out back! Gem neighborhood gem!
Been here a few times and its always amazing! Very small so gets kinda crowded on busy days but worth it. Also great desserts! Fresh made, you can buy whole pies, the coconut cream was amazing!
My new favorite place for brunch in Round Rock! Offers a variety of options of quiche, crepe, croissant and frittatas. We ordered the strawberry rhubarb for a late celebration of pi day. It was sweet, sour and flavorful. Loved their Quiche Lorraine and Croque Monsieur - fresh ingredients and simple European style. Wanna try their lavender lemonade next time when the weather warms up.
Papi’s Pies is one of those cozy, hidden gems that makes you feel right at home. The food is made with love — from the perfectly flaky quiches to the rich, comforting pies that taste like a warm hug. The staff are welcoming, and the garden seating adds a charming touch. It’s the kind of place where you want to slow down, sip coffee, and enjoy every bite.
Can’t wait to get back to this place with my friends. It’s so quaint and reminded me a little Parisian café. The food is amazing! I had the lavender lemonade and the Quiche Florentine. You could truly taste the lavender in that lemonade and the color was to die for. The Quiche has a light crust and the cheese was stringy. I hate writing this review cause I want to keep this little hidden gem to myself!
Awesome awesome awesome. It was actually kind of hard to find a good place to have breakfast this morning for my birthday. This place reminds me of the feeling I used to get when going to Kerby back in the day. Excellent food. Croque monsieur was great! Chocolate croissant was incredible. Service was a little slow, due to low staffing, but they did have a notice up and it wasn't that long
I've had this on my list for quite some time and yesterday I finally got to try it. This place is a little hard to find If you're driving alittle slower, keeping your eyes Peeled open. Worth the search. As I made sure to get their as early as possible to try Saltenas the very first time. It takes 20 mins for them to cook it but it's definitely amazing as I got chicken and beef Saltena and as well Croque monsieur Croissant. The waiter explained how to properly eat Saltenas, it reminds me of a pasty but alittle different. The food was amazing and the place isn't large but the feel from the decor is homey, like you were invited into someone home for lunch is what I felt from the food and wonderful service.
This place does not sell anything that tastes less than amazing. Seriously, close your eyes and point at the menu. Order whatever your finger lands on and you will simply be delighted. My son ordered the waffles. They were hands down the best waffles I have ever eaten. They needed no syrup or butter. Eaten dry with fruit was perfect. My wife had one of the quiches. You can see it pictured. It was fantastic. The smell was only eclipsed by the taste. I had an open faced prosciutto sandwich. I couldn’t get over the flavor that came out of it. I will becoming back here again and again. This place is as charming as the food is amazing.
It is best ever Spanish chissecake! Delicious food and tea. They have adorable cups and plates. Outside you can eat your meal in cozy garden with little birds. I highly recommend this place and chissecake ;) I try raspberry pie and it was also very tasty. I totally agree that this place cook the best pies in Texas.
Discovered this family owned gem in Austin. Had a craving for salteñas so came to check it out. Loved eating on the patio on a breezy spring afternoon. Enjoyed the prosciutto and cheese tartine, hibiscus water, & a quiche Lorraine. Taking home a few frozen salteñas and coconut cream pie for later.
It's a small place with a small staff, so it can get a little loud inside and busy on weekends. But there's plenty of outdoor seating and tables, the atmosphere is very quaint, and the food is fresh and delicious! 😋
This is a favourite spot for my wife and I. It's small and tucked away, just as we like it. The place is ran out of a small cottage-like house, and it feels like you're around at your grand parents house for food and drink. The people are really nice, and the Saltenas are great; they remind us of Pasties from our homeland of England. Think of them as a baked empanada. You have to wait 20mins for them, as they bake them there. My current fave thing to eat is the Spanish Cheesecake; light, fluffy and creamy. So good! They also sell whole pies to go. The Chocolate and Coconut Cream pies are legit! When they're busy, it can take a long time to get served. That'd be the only downside of the place. Go. Eat. Drink.
One of my new favorite places near Austin now. The decor and setting is adorable, including the plating. The garden has a rustic and cute vibe while the indoors is cozy and homey. The food was incredible and fresh. I got the huitlacoche crepes and they were well seasoned and delicious. My friends got a quiche and tartine and loved them too. The blueberry merlot tea was yummy. 10/10 recommend this neighborhood gem for an amazing experience on all accounts!
Papi's Pies in Georgetown, TX is a hidden gem! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I couldn't have had a better experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home. But the real star of the show is the food. I tried the Saltenas, and they were absolutely amazing! Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The crust was flaky and delicious, and the filling was incredibly savory. I can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing pies and dishes. If you're looking for a delicious and unique dining experience in Georgetown, Papi's Pies is a must-try!
A very nice little place with delicious food. I'm so happy I had the time to stop in. They were very friendly and everything was so good. I got to sit down on the patio with some peppermint tea and a poblano quiche...a very popular dish for a reason. Topping of my stop with a slice of (very clearly award winning) cherry pie left me feeling full and happy. I do not know when my travels will bring me through the area again but I will be sure to come by when I do. Thank you!
Very cute little restaurant. The food was excellent. I visited this spot for a late brunch for my birthday. I had the lavender lemonade, quiche, and split the strawberry rhubarb pie and coffee with my husband. He had the waffles. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere outside was also really charming. I look forward to returning. The location is close enough to Brushy Creek trail, which made for a nice walk right after we had our meal. We also got to see the famous Round Rock, which is just a short walking distance from this gem of a restaurant. It was just perfect.
Overall rating, 5 stars being best - Overall: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - Food: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - Location: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - Service: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - Pricing : ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Fresh food, good service (although delayed a bit due to short on staff - we were advised upfront). The location/atmosphere is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. The garden area is very pleasant and we enjoyed it outdoors! We were a large party with about 8 people - we ordered Quiche Florentine Veg, Quiche Salmon Fume, Regular Croissant, Triple chocolate croissant, Saltenas, Lemonade, Coffee and Iced tea. Good food and drinks! We also ordered Tres Leches to take home with us - that was average… felt like cake with condensed milk poured over on top. Overall great experience and would love to go back!
I’ve been frequently coming to this family establishment for 6 months and they never disappoint. Family owned Papis Pies brings their own taste of Bolivian/Mexican inspired breakfast/lunch items and I’m super blessed to have found this place months ago. The owners are magnificent chefs along with son, Julio, who provides amazing service. The food is absolutely delicious and I definitely recommend that you all stop by and show these guys some love. Be sure to come hungry! Top dishes: Quiche poblano, Chilaquiles (Chipotle), liege waffle, chicken/veggie salteña more to come….
We had Quiche Lorraine and the GF Quiche. So good! Cutest little jewel in Round Rock located just off Sam Bass Rd. Sweet people run this place. We felt like we were eating with their family. Adorable inside and out.
We have gone to Papi’s Pies twice and look forward to coming again! The food, both savory and sweet, is delicious, service has always been friendly, and the place is so cute. I love the mismatched chinaware and the decor. I’ve sat both inside and outside, and service was great for both. I prefer sitting outside where there’s lots of tables that have umbrellas. The inside is a little cramped, but there’s tables for indoor seating. The only issue is parking. Their lot is small and tight, but there’s street parking right outside. Hopefully that will be easier when road construction is done. We look forward to trying the whole menu and all the pies.
I'm so very glad that this family owned and operated gem still remains after co vid. The food is amazing, always! The deserts and drinks are scrumptious and always consistently so. The quality remains very high in every delious menu item. Papi's is a Round Rock treasure that I hope will remain for generations to come! ❤️
Papi's Pies is a cozy and charming spot that serves up incredible homemade food with heart. The menu is a unique blend of Latin American and European flavors, and every dish feels like it was made with love. The quiche and empanadas are must-tries, and the desserts — especially the pies — are absolutely worth saving room for. Each bite is fresh, flavorful, and comforting. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is kind, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. A true local gem that's perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a relaxing afternoon treat. Highly recommended!
What a little gem of a place! Had brunch with some girlfriends and the food was incredible and the service friendly (albeit a bit slow but waitress said they were understaffed). The little old converted house had plenty of character with lovely unique ceramics decorating the place and you were served on pretty pieces as well. The liege waffles were to die for (crispy, not so too sweet) and the bottomless coffee very good as well. Will return for a savory brunch soon! As a bonus, take a little stroll down the park trail to the neighboring little waterfall.
If you’re looking for a little taste of Paris right here in Round Rock, this place is a gem! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the warm pastries straight out of the oven. Everything feels authentic—from the infused waffles to Nutella crepes. It’s cozy and the perfect spot for an intimate breakfast.
What a cute hidden gem! The food is wonderful, the ambience feels like I’m in a little cafe in Europe. The people working are so kind and welcoming. Everything was delicious! Quiche was seasoned beautifully and the waffle was delicious! The salmon tartine tasted fresh and bright. Will keep coming back!
This small, local gem has completely won us over! The menu might be small, but it’s so thoughtfully curated that every dish we’ve tried has been fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, like being at home, and the service is always top-notch. We’re regulars and look forward to brunch here every weekend. Even if there’s a bit of a wait sometimes, we don’t mind, it’s a small, family-owned spot, and the experience is always worth it. Our top recommendations? The Croque Madame Croissant, Tartine au Saumon Fumé, Molletes, Chilaquiles, Prosciutto and Cheese Tartine, and the Liege Waffles. Everything is absolutely delicious! We can’t recommend this place enough. We absolutely love it!
This little gem deserves a visit if you are in the area. Small but cute little setup with some tables inside and the majority outside. Don’t worry, there are fans and it’s under a roof to protect you from the sun. The food was delicious, we ordered one of the frittatas and it was great. The ham and cheese crepe was also really good. We had a great time here and you can bring your dog with you to enjoy!
This place is a hidden gem! I love the French bistro vibes of their patio. The liege waffles and baked pastries always have the perfect crispy outside along with the fluffy insides, and they're always freshly made to order. The saltenas are also a must whenever they're available. Love the people who work here too. They're always polite, friendly, and happy to answer questions. Lastly, they're dog friendly and our dog loved the crap out of this place. If you haven't been here and you live in North Austin, this place should be on your to-do list for breakfast and lunch.
This is the only place I’d give more than 5 stars to. The ambiance is incredibly charming—small, cozy, and full of character. It’s a family-run spot, with a father and son duo who are both so kind and welcoming. Just a heads-up, it’s a two-person operation, so be patient and savor the experience—they offer the kind of hospitality that truly warms your heart. We had the waffles, tartine, strawberry rhubarb pie and chilaquiles, all of which were fantastic. Every corner of the space is so thoughtfully designed, making it a joy to take in. We even picked up some of their rhubarb rum jam to take home. I wish I could visit every day—if only Dallas were a little closer! It is a bit hidden but you are at the right place.
Thoroughly blown away by Papi’s pies work ethic, spirit, atmosphere, cuisine. I got a crepe with Mexican truffles. It tasted so fresh, and whole. The flavors were through the roof yet perfectly subtle and balanced to leave me so warm and satiated. It was filling and excellent. I was so impressed with the plating and the fresh sprouts and tomatoes on the side with a sauce that was not too overwhelming but just right. The atmosphere is a rare find in the round rock area- and what I seek all round when I am choosing a place to eat. The moon was homey with abundant seating and encompassed the Texas hospitality I feel is growing to be a rarity these days. Skip kerbey lane next time and come try papis pies. You will be thoroughly impressed and satiated with an array of fresh and delicious dishes. Warm space, fresh pastries, teas, waffles, quiches, crepes, great service with abundant seating. 🌸🌼🌼🌸🫠 My only recommendation would be less cheese centered dishes.
Such an amazing little eatery! It’s hidden; don’t worry, you are in the right place! We had brunch here mid-week. My husband had the Reuben, which is hands down the best he’s ever had! The quiche Lorraine was amazingly tasty as well. This is a place that you will want to go out of your way to eat at!
First time visiting and I really enjoyed it. It was slow so there were only two people on staff which game me lots of opportunity to chat and learn more about the establishment. The chocolate croissant is dynamite. I ordered the chicken slatena because it had lots of hype and was surprised that it wasn't amazing. It was good but I wasn't blown away. The lavender lemonade is very refreshing. The single bathroom was spotless. I'll definitely revisit to try more items.
I legitimately thought about not posting about Papi’s because of how much I want this to remain a hidden gem. I have been searching for this exact flavor and texture of waffle since we had them catered at our wedding years ago, and I finally found it. I would recommend this place as maybe a light meal stop versus something to power your whole day. While the quiches are great, they’re basically the only breakfast options aside from pastries. While it’s not a huge menu, everything you have hear will be some of the best in quality you’ve ever tasted. The croissant we got on the side was one of the best I’ve ever had. Nothing here is an afterthought. If you want to sit and catch up with family or friends, this is the place to go. The staff is limited, so you can expect to wait a little longer than you would at a coffee shop or a diner. Will definitely be going back here for the waffles, and maybe some other things, too (;
I highly recommend eating at Papi's Pies! Their quiche is delicious! I never liked quiche until I ate Papi's. Also, their service was great. The house is cute but needs more TLC to give it a warm, cottage look. This restaurant would be "the perfect bistro" with a little paint and decor. It is small and quiet so easy to carry on a conversation. Its best for parties of 1-4. Again, this is definitely a "must go!"
We had to try this place because its a staple in Round Rock. We had the veggie quiche with salad and we also had the veggie chilaquiles with poblano sauce and egg -it was just ok for $18 - the chips were not greasy and crunchy so it passed the taste test. We also had the lavender lemonade that was very good. The service was ok. The server didn’t come back once and never got a water refill. And it was not busy so Im not sure why but no big issues. I will need to go back and give some of the pastries a try and see how the service is inside to avoid some of the bugs outside
The waffle was the best waffle I ever had!! However, the portions were so small both my sister and I both left hungry. We each got a dish and a side of bacon for me. Bacon was 3 pieces and so incredibly small and thin. It was $4. I’m sad because it was so good I would have liked to eat more. The server was new so the service was slow which is fine, she did not check on us, and we weren’t told that we were supposed to pay up front… so we sat there for a while waiting to pay and thankfully I got up and asked. I really wanted to like the place but I don’t want to have to spend $45 on breakfast and go home and have to make more food. I hope they can make their portions bigger!
Bought a bourbon pecan and a cherry pie for Thanksgiving. The bourbon pecan pie was kind of strange, not the typical pecan pie that we expected. The cherry pie had some very strong spices like clove, or nutmeg, or similar that just tasted odd. Nobody liked either pie. I expected more at $40 per pie.
Food was good. Wait was unbearable. We arrived at 10am on a Sunday. Waitress took our order at 10:20am, during which we asked how long food would take - 10-15min she said. Food arrived at 11:02am. They forgot my plate, so my crepe came at 11:10am, at least that was a fast fix! We finished eating at 11:15am.
