Asian Pearl is a large, popular dim sum restaurant known for its 80s Hong Kong style dim sum and Cantonese dishes. It's often packed, especially during lunch, which can lead to slower service. Favorites include dim sum from rolling carts, roast duck, and Peking duck.

Got dim sum here on a weekend. The vibe is very lively and busy, service can be a little slow. However, the food is pretty decent. Their rice roll has a char siu variety that I've never seen elsewhere. They offered pig ear and even specially made some tofu skin wraps for us when they didn't have any in the rotating carts. I like that the restaurant is bright and lots of light. Tea charge is $1/person.
Wow really good dimsum. I like the hargow. Service was only okay but that's to be expected. I will be back.
Update 6/16/25: Come back here for dim sum more often. Service is getting better & better. Haven't eaten dim sum for a long time. Their dim sum good as usual & the price is reasonable. Love the roast pork, the skin is so crispy and tender.
The best dimsum in Sacramento! Fresh, delicious, and high quality.
Dim Sum is my favorite because you can get a little bit of all different kinds of food!
incredible cuisine the atmosphere wonderful, our Hostess Denver was very helpful and sweet she treated our party very well. I highly recommend Asia Pearl Restaurant
We had a banquet there. The food was delicious. Service was OK with so many tables.
05.01.24 11:30am On the way to South Lake Tahoe we stopped by for lunch at this awesome restaurant find! It's definitely more of a Dim Sum place for lunch as the HUGE restaurant's packed (all Chinese) patrons were mostly eating/choosing dim sum from the ladies serving them in the rolling carts. We had 2x Mongolian Beef dishes + Beef with String Beans plus we requested this dish to be made with the addition of black bean sauce (mom's fave) and which they made perfectly! We also ordered the Seafood & Chive Dim Sum in Egg Wrapper ($7.19=4ct=large, super filled w.plump shrimp=super delicious!) & beef tendon in broth (this was good but we probably wouldn't order it again due to wanting to eat all of their tastier dishes). Hot Tea was fresh and delicious too, came out in a clean large silver pot! All food was exceptionally delicious, clean, fresh, hot, very low oil, not salty, in fact perfectly salted, just a perfect restaurant, though they were PACKED on a Wednesday and so service could use some help though they were quite friendly. Mom asked how long the restaurant has been here and the gentleman in front said 11 years. Mom wishes this restaurant was in San Jose :(. We will be back!!! 05.03.24 Dined here again, ordered same items plus 2x orders of the seafood & chive dim sum & 2x orders of the shrimp & chives dim sum = dim sum is exceptional! We love the food here!
Came here on a Wednesday night. I hadn't been here in like 10 years. Prices are pretty decent considering serving sizes (which are pretty decent). Apparently they have really good roasted squab here, which my grandparents like, but I personally didn't try it. The roast duck was good. Green beans with xo sauce and roast pork, chow mein had good wok hay. Overall was pleasantly surprised. It's a little run down. And it was like 79° in there. Service is good though. They even offered to switch out plates on a normal meal. No soup or dessert included if ordering for the normal menu.

Even here twice, second time with a large group of 13. We ordered almost everything on the dim sum menu and also Peking duck an fu jian fried rice (the best kind of fried rice, it comes with a gravy, scallops chicken, mushrooms etc). Everything was actually very good. We came early to make sure everything was fresh. The consensus was asian pearl is great and we would all love to return. The Peking duck did not require ordering ahead and was about 41 or 42 dollars for the entire duck. Good Price the quality of the duck was ok, a lot of the skin was crispy and the meat was tender enough, 42 dollars I’d say it was a good deal and worth it. I would not specify this place as highly skilled at Peking duck but I do recommended ordering it because it’s delicious and in expensive. I’d paid much more for terrible Peking duck and this was decent and good price, very reasonable. I remand asian pearl for dim sum and also dinner menu. I cannot wait to return. Come early for dim sum or just order dinner menu if you’re late.
HUGE restaurant with really delicious Chinese food, both dim sum, which the restaurant is obviously famous for, and their rice plate dishes, which mom loves. Service was very good given how absolutely packed the restaurant is always and the limited staff vs patrons so when we needed anything we just flagged down a server and they very expeditiously complied with every request. Hot, steaming dim sum is rolled around in carts. Pork feet isn't recommended as that didn't have the best flavor (it was like too much 5 spice) but the rest we tried on our 3 visits here were all really delicious.
As a Sacramento native, I've spent years trying out different Chinese restaurants around town. While there are a few decent spots here and there, to a large extent, it's been a bit hit-or-miss...until now. After being invited to brunch at Asian Pearl Restaurant, I was simply blown away. From the very first bite, I could tell this place is something special. The dim sum and buns were absolutely phenomenal, and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, we ordered the Peking Duck - easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and clearly made with care, skill, and attention to detail. You can feel the pride this restaurant takes in its food and service. From the chefs to the servers, it’s clear they are passionate about delivering authentic, top-tier Chinese cuisine. The experience was not only delicious but also memorable in every way. Asian Pearl has officially earned the title of my favorite Chinese restaurant in Sacramento. If you’ve been on the hunt for truly amazing Chinese food in Sacramento, you must give this place a try. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Got Dim Sum with the in-law. The food is good but the service was bad.
Great Food. Service was ok. Too loud, but open spacing. The restrooms are at the far back end of the restaurant. Lots of parking.
The dim sum here is fantastic. The only problem is that the place is so big that it can get quite noisy with everyone talking. They have enough seating for hundreds of people. Have been here multiple times.
This place serve traditional Cantonese dishes. Overall the dishes are overly seasoned with excess MSG. Otherwise all dishes are pretty good. Dining area is spacious and comfortable. Parking is very easy.
I've been here several times already, and I like their dimsum buffet lunch and regular menu at dinner both. This place is huge, good for birthday or get together party. I wish I could name all the dimsums, but can't 😅 We always get Shui mai, Scallop dumplings, Har gow tho. For dinner, Pecking duck was okay, and their fried rice was good!
Asian Pearl Restaurant is one of the biggest Chinese restaurants in the Sacramento area. I am sure most of the Chinese and Vietnamese will have their meals here at least a few times, either dim sum brunch, dinner, or attend banquet parties. I have attended banquet dinners at Asian Pearl a few times. It was pretty good compared to other places in Sacramento. The dinners are excellent too. However, dim sum is getting worse like most Chinese restaurants in the Sacramento area. That is a bummer. I love dim sum brunch on the weekends! The service at Asian Pearl is still outstanding! The waitpersons are very attentive. They’ll pick up the empty plates and refill the tea and water. Come back to check if you want anything else at a regular time. The dining room is a little dated, but it is very clean and comfortable. The parking lot is jam packed on the weekend morning to about 1-2 pm. Otherwise, there is no problem with parking.
I had tea lunch with a friend at the Asian Pearl. It is 11am - 230pm. Stockton blvd. near 65th Street. We were not asked what tea we wanted. We were served jasmine. It was fine, although there is usually a choice: black, green, mum, jasmine, etc. The dim sum was good. We ordered a variety and ended with egg custards for dessert. I took photos for your perusal. Tea lunch is usually for socializing or business, with slow eating and lots of talking!😬 Lunch at the Asian Pearl was authentic, tasty, and reasonably priced.$$ My friend was not Asian, and I would have liked to try the chicken feet(brown), seaweed, jellyfish, or pork belly.😋 It sounds exotic. Most people would like the neutral flavor and the different textures. However, he was able to try some different textured tofu skin, and a variety of different flavors. The egg custards were light flakey and to die for (a great dessert)! Mango pudding or red bean sticky balls could also be a good choices. We did not try those desserts today😕. The entry is flat for wheelchair or baby carriage access. There is plenty of free parking. The restaurant can accommodate lots of people! This restaurant was unfairly given a 3 1/2 star rating on Yelp. It is serving authentic chinese food (not americanized) in Sacramento's little Saigon area. Unfortunately, it is a drive from the north area. Yu Huang in Natomas is probably a bit closer, for those in north Sacramento. *Check out the photos. We had left overs to take home.
Excellent Dim Sum, one of the better places I've been. Pushcarts are abundant but if you need a particular item, just ask and someone will bring it. All the Dim Dum staples are here: chicken feet, shumai, hargow, soup dumplings & taro puffs are particularly good. My favorites were the pork steamed buns and egg custard buns.
Having grown up in Hong Kong where you get the best dim sum, I'm grateful to have found a place that does it somewhat decently. Is the quality on par with authentic dimsum? Obviously not. But it was close enough to still be an enjoyable experience, on top of the old school cart serving style which is hard to find these days. My only complaint would be the bbq pork in the baked buns and flat noodle rolls. They were prepared very differently from the usual kind. The flavour and texture were not great. Edible but strange. Similar with the Siu mai, it was fine but just tasted different to what you'd expect (if you've had the authentic kind). The best dishes from the meal were the wrapped lotus leaf sticky chicken rice, pan-fried turnip cake and steamed shrimp dumplings (har gao). We also ordered 乾炒牛河beef noodles and 蒜蓉炒豆苗garlic sautéed pea shoots to share with the group. They were pretty good. The egg tart was fine but there wasn't much flavour in the custard. Otherwise service and atmosphere was great. We got a table right away on a Saturday around 11am. Plenty of seating at that time. Parking was a little tricky as it was busy. Overall an enjoyable experience (this is coming from a Chinese!). Would come back to order the dishes we liked and try some other new ones.
Great dim sum place to take your family and friends. I just wish they bring food out more often and in a fashion orderly manner.....the food and dim sum are amazing and always exceed my expectations, however the wait on the food is almost not worth it any more. About 1.5 hr into the services, they finally brought out the main dishes like pork belly, chicken, veggies etc...that is when my crew and I already tired of waiting and left before getting the dishes we initially came for... overall not bad
Went during lunch time so it was pack. Took awhile to get seat and get our food. Overall, food was delicious as always.
I arrived at 11 right after they open . EveryThing is ready . I love their dim sum it's old school and tastes is good , I recommend their tarp bread bun , and steam sea bass it was with rice or porridge. Not recommended beef meat ball tho .

Dim sum was okay. It's crowded at weekend lunchtime with dim sum carts around you, they will ask if you would like some dim sum. Since I came for dinner menu, that became annoying after I repeatedly said no I don't want dim sum many times. Oh and remember to order some hot tea, they charge you for tea per person even if you don't order any tea. Kind of culture thing I get, but still not getting used to.
My family and I were underwhelmed by this place’s dim sum. Not enough servers going around meant it was hard to get the items you wanted. Portions were small and expensive. 4 adults managed to spend $145 after tip and none of us felt really full. Taste was okay, not bad not memorable.. but portion size for the price was a huge letdown. Source: I’m Cantonese
I want to give it 3 stars, but I can’t. The food was good. It was our first time there. My daughter was taking me there for my birthday. The pricing on the menu was confusing. One male waiter was very friendly and explained the alphabetic pricing. I thought I understood it so when we got the bill it was different than expected. Also, part of the bill was written in Chinese, so we politely asked an older female waiter to show us what dish the language was referring to. She became offended like we weren’t going to pay. Again, I politely let her know we just wanted to know what the item was and help us understand the prices. We finally understood and paid the bill with a very reluctant tip. I would go back if I knew all the waiters would be more understanding and patient with new customers. I felt like they just wanted us to hurry up and eat, pay and get out of there. Not very hospitable. We decided we will not be returning.
This used to be our absolute favorite place to come for dim sum when we came in from Reno. We were there yesterday, admittedly near 3:00, when they were finishing up dim sum and they were out of BBQ pork buns and custard tarts. We were served 1 plate of chive shrimp dumplings, that were on the last cart with all the other leftovers from the earlier diners. We ordered 2 orders of sesame balls, our favorite, and 2 orders to take back to Reno. When I bit into mine, there was all white rice flour and I asked my Chinese mom and uncle what that was because usually black bean paste fills the sesame ball. My uncle tried his and said it was uncooked dough. We sent our 2 orders back and said the middle was uncooked and when it returned, it was exactly the same, uncooked innerds. We said we did not want any of those sesame balls and removed the 2 orders from the to-go order. I surmised the price of black bean paste has gone up, so the balls are mostly sweet rice, but too thick to fry without the sesames becoming overcooked. The dim sum pork ribs were all bone and gristle but we didn't even complain about that. The $5.40 for hot tea was quite a surprise, but the worst was the bill. Everything we ordered was written in English, except one item, and when I asked the cashier what it was, she said the 4 orders of sesame balls. When I told her we returned them, she said, "You ate two of them, didn't you?" I was stunned because we bit into the sit down order and the to-go order to see if they were the same inedible sesame balls. She reluctantly removed the 4 orders, but how sneaky can you get? Unfortunately, this was the second bad experience here and have written it off. Perhaps they had a regular menu, but was never offered that.
I came here January 2nd, Monday, around 11:30am. The service was bad, they never came to refill our water or tea. We had to wait over 20-30 mins to actually get food(dim sum). They had more carts with bread and desserts going around. We spent too much time waiting, which I really disliked. It wasn’t that busy yet when we were there. We were sitting in the middle of the room, I’m not sure if they had any effect of getting the food faster. This was my second time here and probably the worst experience I had. When they first opened, I had a great experience with getting the food faster and it tasting great. This time around, everything was just bad. I Would also like to mention that the price is pretty high for dim sum. They really need to work on better service and consistency for what people pay here.

My husband and I paid the bill and when writing the tip, she refused the tip written, ask my husband to change the tip. I did not like her service and when I refused to give a tip, she told me to never come back again. I refused to come to this restaurant again.
Probably you don’t care about mi review I was there today and we go there often The dim sum was close and the servers was seat down non caring worst food and service no good and very bad attitude Never go back
The smell of urine in the men’s restroom is GROSS! I was there early during the opening hour. None of these employees or the owner bother to spend a couple of bucks on Lysol or multi purpose cleaner!
I heard about this restaurant from a friend, but unfortunately, I was very disappointed. First of all, let me clarify that the reason I’m writing this review is to let the restaurant owner know that running a restaurant means you must ensure the food served is safe and properly cooked. At the very least, the dishes brought to the table should be fully cooked. There were just two of us dining, and the server seemed unhappy that we ordered only a few items. It was our first time here, so of course, we wanted to try a few things first and wait for the dim sum carts to come around before ordering more. In the end, after being pressured several times by the server, we ended up ordering five or six kinds of dim sum. One of them was the pineapple bun—the dough inside was still raw, but I didn’t say anything. Then came the chive and shrimp dumplings—the vegetables were hot, but the shrimp was cold, clearly undercooked. I was honestly speechless. I really wonder—was it just bad luck with the chef today? Or is this a common issue? How can things be this unprofessional? I hope the owner can provide an explanation. Thank you.
This restaurant offers chef’s special price from Monday to Friday, and when we came here for lobster special price on Thursday, they said they did not provide special price on holiday, which is not mentioned in their policy. If this restaurant cannot afford to offer the special price, then do not provide this special price, ok? I feel very angry and won’t come to this restaurant again!

We came here for dinner, placed dinner order at 5:04pm. For two dish. 5:41pm food still not out yet, we asked the waiter to see what's going on? They checked with the kitchen and came back told us that they will cook the food now. Instead of the manager admitting that they must have forgotten to place our order, she asked if we want to proceed with the cooking or cancel?? Bad management!! We will not be coming back here!
