This place is absolutely delicious prices are reasonable and food is amazing! If your lucky enough to catch a happy hour the prices cant be beaten! Definitely will be coming back

Love this place. Great sushi and excellent staff. Great bar for later in the evening get-togethers. The restaurant is a bit echo-prone, so it can get loud in there during happy hour. It's still worth it, though!

Well thos is a new find. And it was amazingly delicious. Wow can they do a mean sushi. I was in awwe of the flavors. It is a great place to come alone, or on a date. Even bring the family. My 11 year old son loves sushi. We are planning an evening together to chow down on some rolls. Make sure you come hungry and bring your best conversation skills. You'll be here a while. You won't be able to stop eating. Hope to see you here.

Amazing food! We ordered 5 rolls and all were distinct and very tasty, we can’t figure out which was our favorite! Excellent and fast service! Our drinks were never dry and the food was ready fast! Excellent experience at a decent price!

I have gone twice and loved it twice! Delicious super "fresh" sushi! Loved the spicy "flat" chicken wings. They even accommodated us on the steamed veggies! Less carrots, more zucchini! French Fries were none like any other -- good taste! Sorry, no pictures! It's on my phone and this review is from my laptop.

Great happy hour menu 7 days a week til 7pm! Five dollar rolls and appetizers ftw! I get Mama's chicken wings almost every time. We love this place. If you want good sushi and apps at low prices, this is a great option. If you want the best sushi in town for $20 a roll, look elsewhere.

The workers here are very friendly and helpful. The food here was also great. The $5 happy hour menu was a great choice for most people. The sake and drinks are also very good. Waiting for the food otherwise took a little longer than expected but food is great, environment, and workers are great also. Recommend

The “16th street” roll was decadent and was amazing to follow up with a “9ers” roll which was super light and fresh. Came in on a Saturday at around 9 and ordered the baked mussels as an appetizer and the golden trio and golden gate (pictured). I personally only tasted the mussels and golden trio and WOW. I’m blown away. First time trying mussels and I fell in love, so much yummy goodness in the garlic sauce. My roll was fresh and perfect. Staff was attentive at all times. Definitely recommend.

Stumbled upon this place and it did not disappoint. They have a bento box lunch special which is very affordable (a rarity these days). The food was great and even more so the service was great. The server was very friendly. I greatly appreciate a restaurant with great service and great food. I’ll be back Jensai!

We’ve taken several friends here and everyone always loves it. They also have good happy hour drinks and cheaper rolls if you go during happy hour. Try it out!! One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time, and it was all thanks to Evan and the other staff there. Our family came in 30-40 minutes before closing without realizing it, but Evan was more than happy to continue serving us well past closing, and he did an astounding job. He was very knowledgeable, very personable, and he makes some wonderful drinks. We ordered the sushi platter #3 to share with the family and it was some of the best presented and best sushi and sashimi I've ever had, and for 7 people it was almost more food than we could eat. From now on I'll make it a point to come back to this place whenever I'm in Sacramento.

Came here for Taco Tuesday - yeah I know! We had a large table with about 8 people. We had plenty of elbow room, the food was fresh and flavorful. Though not on my radar I would definitely come back.

We been at this establishment many times, each time the service was great, food was prepared and out to our table in short time, the food quality maintained at a high level. This was another place where we were too hungry to take picture. A must go place to enjoy 'happy hour food and drinks. The only bad thing I will say is the parking situation, limited space for multiple establishments, street parking nearby hard to find, only one handicapped parking space. Not sure Jensai Sushi could do anything about it.

I love that they still do oyster shooters and for a good price. They're okay, but at least they have them! Not many other sushi joints can say that right now. I've always had fresh fish here and like that h.h. goes until 7pm. It's a good neighborhood sushi restaurant.

They have a nice variety of rolls, including special vegetarian rolls. Price is okay. Service is great. Atmosphere is chill. The oyster shots are delicious.

I had 3rolls and 1 appetizer. Very delicious krokket(potato fries) with takoyaki sauce. Zigzag roll (green) has soft shell crab with cream cheese. I wish they put a little more cream cheese, though. Sexy angel roll is pretty interesting. A spicy taste kicks you with other sauce and it’s very good. Blue jinsai something roll is fun to watch. They ignite the roll but the only rice gets warm and fishes are totally still fresh. Generally pretty good. The only reason i gave 4 stars is their rice is too sticky. If the rice would better, i’m willing to try this place again.

While service was quick, I wouldn't have called it attentive given we were the only people. But like a lot of Japanese restaurants the lunch bento box is always a great deal and we got plenty of food with ours. The food and sushi were good. Parking can be tough as there are a lot of restaurants and stores here and not a lot of spots. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to stop back in and give it 4 of 5 stars.

I should of left when I walk in on a Thursday night and there is only 1 table occupied. Sushi was mediocre at best. Fish quality poor and bland. Prices reflect this, very cheap prices and cheap fish. Service was average and needless to say, I won't go back. Much better fish in town to put with average Nigiri. Note to the owner, use True World for your FIsh supplier, don't be so cheap.

The WORST raw sushi that I've tasted. The texture is like when you get some nice fish and freeze it and then thaw it for too long. They have other nice things but it just cut through the experience. I usually LOVE sushi. :c

Seafood Ramen is the worst I have ever tried. There is no seafood on it.

Waited 40 minutes for three rolls. Sushi rolls were below average and the mackerel sashimi was awful. I consider this sushi very expensive for the area and for the quality it’s way overpriced. Probably won’t be back

Let me start off with, they forgot to put my order in (they only had 4 tables occupied). The tempura sampler for our appetizer came with our rolls (instead of before the main dish) and it came on a plate with the corner broken off. The rolls were amazing! The service was mediocre. This place used to be a great place to eat. It has gone down hill except the sushi chef.
