Sip Saam Thai is highly praised for its authentic and flavorful Thai cuisine, especially the Tom Yum soup and curries. Customers appreciate the attentive service, pleasant atmosphere, and convenient location near the River Walk. Some found inconsistencies in flavor, with some dishes being too sweet or sour.

Opinions de Thai Restaurant San Antonio
I tried the pad Thai as a baseline and it was way better than under previous ownership. It was not dry and it was very flavorful. It came with a soup and wonton as a lunch special. More affordable than the last place as well... Better service too. Be careful on the spice! I think of myself as someone who can handle it but the medium spice had me crying 😂
We had the red and yellow curry. My husband loved the Red curry! The yellow curry had amazing flavor and super creamy my only complaint was the potatoes were not even cooked as if they just tossed them in the curry as is lol Still 5 stars though because they both had amazing flavor and great service 🥘
Visited tonight, a simple walk from my hotel. I ordered the fresh spring rolls and Pad Thai, combination. The spring rolls were great. Presentation was nice. The Pad Thai was tasty, on point with flavor and desired heat. The meat wasn’t as hot as the rest of the noodles, like they mixed in precooked meat. Had they cooked it longer with the noodles wouldn’t have noticed that it wasn’t freshly cooked meats. All in all, it was good, and I would get again. I ordered hot tea. But the tea was like warm and tasted like bad water was used. The super nice server brought out more tea in a mug, piping hot, but now I could really smell the bad water used. I would pass on that. Plus it seemed like a powder mix tea and not a bag tea. It was the lemon ginger tea. The atmosphere was nice, service was great. They have only been open a few weeks so they are still dialing things in. She gladly comped the tea and thanked me for the feedback. I gave my feedback with a smile and was a nice customer back to her. I will likely visit again before I leave town. I want to try another dish!
Very yummy Thai restaurant in downtown. Probably the best Tom Kha soup I’ve had in a long time. There were nice big chunks of onions and mushrooms and the broth was not overly coconut milk, it had a nice tomato element as well. The steak salad had some juicy ribeye that was cooked perfectly, only suggestion might be to make it a little less salty, but overall a really nice meal with friendly staff
Unexpectedly Impressed! I’ll admit, I was skeptical walking in—but this place totally won me over. I had the moo ping and the lunch special pad see ew, and both were outstanding. I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants, and this easily ranks among the best. The flavors were spot on, everything was fresh, and I left genuinely impressed. Definitely planning to come back!
This is a corner restaurant which is just walking distance away from our hotel Kimpton Santo (about 3-4min walk). It is a corner restaurant with large windows who the ambiance is bright and welcoming. The restaurant has a bar too, coz my husband ordered a bloody mary. When we go in we were immediately seated. The place has a casual vibe but nicely decorated. I ordered the curry with pineapple in it (I forgot what my husband ordered), and we also ordered the Tom Yum soup with shrimp; and man it was so good! The soup has a sweetness to it (not too much) and it also has coconut milk which made the flavor more rich and delicious. My curry was 5x better than the other Thai place I had it with. My stepdaughter and her boyfriend are vegan, and they have vegan options for them. So this is really a great place to bond with family and friends. You have to really try it out.
Food was absolutely delicious. Everyone at the table bragged they ordered the best dish. Was truly difficult to choose a favorite between Tom Kha, Tom Yum, and Yellow Curry. Service was also excellent.
Lovely food, very affordable, very large portions we tried two starters and shared a main course the springrolls are delicious and pad se Ew noodles. Both very nice. Good friends staff and affordable prices
So good!!!!! Friendly staff, very helpful with recommendations! Advised they could make almost anything gluten-free free! Had the house pad packed with chicken. Yum!!! Great flavors! I like it spicy but did a 5 out of 10. It had a nice kick. Probably could have done a 7, but not 10. Very flavorful and yet light. Huge serving. Would definitely visit again if in the area!
It was amazing food . Our team attended the conference in San Antonio last month and we found this place for a dinner and I definitely recommend everyone to try their food.
My husband and I loved this place! Cute Cozy and some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Service was fast and friendly! We’ll be back!
The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the convenient location is perfect for downtown living and visitors. I highly recommend the spring rolls and dumplings. Ask for Joe. He’s the best waiter.
Sip saam Thai is absolutely delicious! By far the best Thai food I’ve had in San Antonio and maybe the best Thai food I’ve ever had. This is my second visit in two weeks both times I’ve ordered green curry and my husband Penang. The lunch special soup changes last time we had Tom Yum and this time it’s hot and sour. Both were absolutely delicious. The food is fresh hot and anything fried is fried to perfection. Highly recommend this place if you like Thai food!
The restaurant is average size with quiet music playing. Service is fast and the staff is professional and friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. I had pad woon sen and hubby had Thai pork spare ribs. They were so good but we will each try another dish when we come back.
The food here is outstanding. Everything is fresh and flavorful. The spice levels range from 1-10. I tried level 2 and it wasn't bad. The service here is great and the staff all speak Thai. They always checked up on us to make sure everything was going well. Went again. The food here is so delicious. And I'm glad they provide a little spice rack so you can up the level on your food. The place is awesome. It is very clean and I love the decor. There is quite a bit of space and they also have a bar. I definitely recommend this place.
Great Thai food at this restaurant in San Antonio, Texas. Quantity, price & flavor was 5 stars each, not to mention the staff (Joe & Kay) who gave us great service and fast delivery of food. Highly recommend. Also easy walk distance to beautiful River Walk area.
Service was great and the food was amazing. I got the Thai pork with sticky rice. It was the best I have had in a long time. The eggs rolls were crispy with good taste. The thai iced tea was perfect!
We loved our visit so much that we order extra for the road. We enjoyed the tofu spring rolls, fried dumplings and chicken satay to start. We also ate green curry, chicken larb, pad woo sen, pineapple fried rice, and drunken noodles as our entrees. For desert we drooled over and then demolished the fried banana and sticky rice and coconut ice cream.
I had a wonderful time here! The customer service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was so peaceful. Our meals were delicious—everything was amazing.
Went through a name change recently (Thai Lucky before). Everything about this was fantastic. The food, service, atmosphere, ambiance, location, etc. I was seated immediately and the food came out decently fast. It tasted great, full of flavors and authentic. The restaurant is located just south of downtown. The Riverwalk has an extensive list of choices but I would recommend to stop at Sip Saam Thai.
Visiting from Austin and easily comparable to the best Thai restaurants I’ve had there. Asked for medium spice. Spice level was perfect and the curry was very flavorful. Highly recommend!
Foood was amazing, my curry was 10000/10 they have level of spicy I loved that, everything was fresh and tasty, services was good and quick recommended for sure, my people tried pad Thai and stir chicken they loved food too.
We had a group of 13 people visiting from MSP (Minneapolis-SaintPaul, MN), as someone born in Thailand and growing up in Thai cuisine everyday, this is by far the best and most authentic thai restaurant food wise outside of Minnesota that I've had. That's saying a lot because I've been to many places outside of MN, of you ask for thai spicy, just be prepared.
We tumbled across this cute little gem when searching for Thai food that’s close to the river walk. Apparently the restaurant was just opened for a week by the time we visited. Food was definitely on point for most of the dishes we ordered. We love the crab fried rice which is incredibly moist and flavorful. The duck curry was very unique and delicious. Few members of my family are actually living in Bangkok and they confirmed that the food was very authentic and flavorful. Some other dishes that we ordered including sizzling spare ribs with sticky rice, papaya salad, pad see aw, Tom yum soup and fried Pompano fish were all worth a try! We also want to give credit to their sweet service. They were all very nice and welcoming. We will definitely come back if we’re back in the area. We heard they have a sister restaurant in Austin and just hope they would open one in Houston in the future since we’re from H!
Sip Saam Thai was a great experience topped of with great service. Conveniently located near to the river walk. The Tom Yum soup was bursting with flavor—spicy, tangy, and perfectly balanced with lemongrass and herbs. It was the perfect way to kick off the meal. For the main course, we had the fried fish fillet, and it was a standout—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Finished with the mango sticky rice, and it was the perfect ending: sweet, creamy, and fresh with ripe mango. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed yet vibrant. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Thai food done right!
Got it delivered. DELICIOUS! Got four items, pat se eew, phat thai, chicken thai rice, and mango sticky rice. EVERYTHING was amazing!
It was a great find. This restaurant was very close to our hotel. We decided to give it a try and we were very happy we did. We had tam-yum soup, green papaya salad, lamb shanks, and green apple pompano fish. Everyone was raving about the quality of their food. Service was very attentive and prompt. I am very happy with experience and planning to visit them again
I had an amazing dining experience at Sip Sam Thai in San Antonio! Everything was beautifully presented, packed with authentic flavors, and absolutely delicious. • Main Course: The Tom Yum soup was served in a traditional hot pot, the broth had the perfect balance of spicy, sour, and aromatic flavors. It was packed with fresh herbs, seafood, and vegetables—comforting and flavorful. • Basil Pork: This dish was bursting with umami! The stir-fried minced pork was rich, savory, and had just the right amount of spice, complemented by the fragrant Thai basil. Served with rice and sunny side up, it was a well-balanced and satisfying dish. • Desserts: We had fried banana and coconut ice cream, both of which were amazing! The fried banana was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and lightly drizzled with honey and black sesame seeds. The coconut ice cream was rich, creamy, and topped with crushed peanuts, adding a lovely crunch and is not too sweet. Both desserts were the perfect sweet ending to the meal! The restaurant had a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, with tables decorated with fresh flowers, adding a nice welcoming touch. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Parking was easy, which made the experience even more convenient. What truly sets Sip Sam Thai apart is that their food is cooked by Thai chefs, ensuring an authentic and flavorful experience. If you’re looking for real Thai food in San Antonio, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

VERY good food. It’s nice to have a restaurant that can accommodate vegans. I got a stir fry with tofu and no animal byproducts. They also graciously accommodate those who don’t want any spice in their food. Definitely recommend!!

We are very happy to find such delicious Thai food in San Antonio, finally. We've tried so many that have good food. This one is the best & became our immediate favorite. I had Pad See Ew & it had the right, mild heat & an abundance of beef & broccoli; enough that there was plenty of beef for leftovers the next day. My wife had the Lamb Shank. Oh, the lamb was so tender she could fork it off the bone. The veggies were cooked just right, soft but not mush. The sauce is part of what makes this dish a star. Full of flavor & warmth & just takes the dish over the moon. So good! Atmosphere was softly lit w/soft, easy to talk in music. The restaurant is nicely decorated. Service was polite, easy going, and paying enough attention that I didn't have to ask for drink refills nor wait for help with a question.

This place was so cute! It’s right on the corner with a bunch of windows and a quick walk from the hotel. We got the cream cheese wontons, shrimp spring rolls, and the shrimp pad tai. I’d recommend the shrimp pad tai and the wontons. The spring rolls did not have enough shrimp in them. We actually ripped all the shrimp out of 2 rolls and stuffed them in the other 2 rolls to have a shrimp spring roll. The cream cheese wontons were good though! We would come back here.
Food was great. Hard to get to on account of the construction going on.Just wished the hostess was a lot friendlier. I had never been there before and decided to try something new. I wanted help with the menu and she just pointed and said choose. She just wasn't undressing my questions. I just ordered a mix and match and I guessed right. The food was good. Besides getting no cooperation, my evening turned out ok
I loved the Pad Thai. As for Tom Yum Noodle, the soup and fish balls were good, but I don't like the pork. Too bad they don't have other protein options for the Tom Yum Noodle.
Was craving some good Thai Food in San Antonio. This place was in walking distance from our hotel and it was a hidden gem. I ordered the drunken noodles and my husband had the pad Thai. My dish was probably some of the best Thai food I’ve had. The service was great and there was no wait time to get the food. My only reason for not giving five stars is that my shrimp was very spongy and slightly overcooked. Other than that this place was phenomenal!!

Ordered online and pickup was great. Food looked great but was highly disappointed to find the Chicken Tom Yum Soup heavily flavored with fish sauce, which is not something I expected based on the description and on prior experiences of the dish elsewhere. Additionally, the Chicken Fried Rice also had an undertone of fish sauce but felt more like an accidental cross contamination rather than an intentional add. Was really hoping to like this place, but undertones of fish sauce in all ordered dishes is a no go for me.
We were excited to try Sip Sam, and the presentation of the food was fantastic. However, the flavors were inconsistent. Many dishes were overly sweet, and the Tom Kha soup was far too sour. The spicy fish tasted more like sweet fish, missing the expected heat. The mango sticky rice was decent, but the mangoes themselves were subpar and lacked flavor. On the bright side, the yellow and green curries were absolutely delicious rich, flavorful, and satisfying. My only complaint with the curries is they had too many veggies and not enough actual curry sauce. Overall, some standout dishes, but inconsistent seasoning keeps me from giving a higher rating.

I went in with my wife and was waiting for family to arrive. The male waiter did not seemed interested in serving us. Dropped off water, never came back. We wanted to order an appetizer, never got the chance because he never came back to our table. I attempted to raise my hand for attention and was over looked. Made eye contact with the server multiple times and he did not take that as a signal that we needed help. A table that came in after us, even got their food served to them before our waiter even came back. A third table came in and got their drinks served and order taken and our waiter STILL never returned. This establishment is TOO SLOW with business to be having suck a lack of customer service. My family got up and left. We won't be coming back either.
The male waiter tonight was terrible. The only time he came to our table was to drop off our waters. He never returned. Also, this place is very pricey $15 for a Jim Bean???? We left and went to Yardhouse and got mixed drinks for $11 (regular menu price). $17.98 for a bowl of rice?? We always walk by this place and business is always slow... those prices definitely aren't gonna get people to come in. Despite the prices, we were still willing to give this place business... but after the experience with the server, we will not be returning.
I would give 0 star if that’s an option. Very disappointing experience. The food is overpriced (fried rice starts at $18), yet the quality was poor. We were a group of five and ordered yellow and green curries and few other noodle dishes; requested spice levels of 5 and 7 on a 1–10 scale, but neither curries had any heat at all. Both were overly salty and unpleasant. Service was essentially nonexistent. After our orders were taken, there were no check-ins or follow-up, and we eventually had to get up and find someone just to pay, as it was hard to even make eye contact with staff. Despite this, an 18% gratuity was automatically added without being disclosed anywhere on the menu or before payment. We were only told after paying that the tip had already been included. Poor food, no service, and hidden fees made this a frustrating and misleading experience.
