Great food to dine-in, one of my go to breakfast cafes. Unfortunately they do ask for tips in drive-thru, which is absurd. Other than that, like this place a lot.

The name is misleading a little. This place is Mexican food and it's delicious. It's usually a little chilly, so I always bring a sweater if I know I'm going there. The various chilaquiles are all delicious here. Brisket tacos are juicy and tender. Everything is at least good, most things are better than good!

S

Had the Thousand Oaks breakfast plate. It was delicious and very generous portion. Server was polite and did not "hover" us which we appreciated as we visited. Food was great! Will certainly go back!

Great place and you can't go wrong here. I especially love the cheese enchiladas. The cheese is creamy and very tasty, that is covered in a sauce to die for. One word of warning: your wasteline is guaranteed to grow. 😉

Menudo was awesome on a cold day. Service is great.

Good consistent food. Hours vary but my first choice for Tex mex. Five stars based on consistency and service. Not fine dining but way better than taco cabana or many other Mexican food places especially when you consider the cost.

I feel that alot of people are not giving credit to the quality of food. Complaining about small things then giving no stars when they don't try to let them know to change the menu, or even they are too lazy to try and get it made again, everything else was delicious! I have not yet had a bad experience. Maybe the cooks could become more authentic, take some lessons. I love the food every time!

Did you know Thousand Oaks Cafe has a drive through window? And delicious breakfast tacos? This was a great discovery. Fresh tender tortillas and yummy salsa. My runner friends loved it and it must be unknown because there was no line. We had chorizo and egg, bacon and egg, egg and potato, and bacon bean and cheese. They disappeared pronto. Yum.

M

We go here once a week for breakfast and it's always great. Most of the servers are really great, but I won't lie a few aren't the best. We love the salsa there! The prices are great and the food is delicious.

Very good Mexican food. Never had a bad experience, the staff is genuinely pleasant. Corn tortillas are a true measure of a Mexican food restaurant & their’s are some of the best.

From beginning to end, from the first cup of coffee to the chips and salsa, to the entree....the taste of everything was top notch. But above all of that Claudia was one of the absolute best waitresses we have had all year. She deserves the best of recognitions, thank you for making my family and I feel very well taken care of!!

V

Fresh nicely full-filled tacos, accurate orders, and a quick enough service in drive through every weekend. I only hate that "extra" salsa costs "extra." Otherwise, expect to receive a tiny 2oz cup or two for multiple tacos.

We ordered Egg and chorizo, bean-N-cheese and papas and cheese breakfast tacos on our first visit here. I had ordered with DD in the past. So, I figured we’d try them out in person as we like to support our local community. They didn’t disappoint at all. Food was delivered quickly to our table and it was hot, fresh and tasted authentic. Service was good. Nice job Thousand Oaks cafe, we will be back.

The place is clean and the food was great. It was very busy but you couldn't tell because the waitress was fast and very kind. She made sure to keep checking on our drinks to see if we needed refills. Wonderful service.

Hey, that's Rob!

It was my first time here, and I really had a most pleasant experience. The service was great and the food was excellent!! Their menu has changed so take a look at the pictures I took of the menu. Those will be the most current choices and prices.

Absolutely love this place. Such a relaxed place to have breakfast or lunch. Staff has always been very welcoming and attentive. Been coming here for years, at least once a week with the “office clan” for lunch, and Bfast myself - post COVID, obviously that changed. But have been coming in for breakfast and lunch again lately. The food is really fantastic. It’s simple, flavorful food with a great staff. The prices are very fair! It’s really one of those go-to places. Love the Small Plate with some “add-ons” for breakfast, and the fajita taco salad for lunch in the tortilla bowl…so good. It’s pretty cool to see the same staff all the time, and the same guests on Saturday mornings. It has a great neighborhood place feel. If I could eat there every day I probably would 😊

Pepe’s had too long of a line, so we swung by the Thousand Oaks Cafe drive-thru for breakfast tacos—and I’m glad we did. I ordered a bacon and egg taco and a carnitas taco. All I can say is WOW. The carnitas taco completely blew me away. I’ve had way too many dry, flavorless carnitas around the city—but this one was different. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. And they didn’t skimp on the portion either—at under $4, it was loaded with enough carnitas to fill two tacos. The bacon and egg taco was solid too—fresh, tasty, and cooked just right. We’ll definitely be back!

I had heard about Green Chilaquiles but had never had them until meeting some very close friends at Thousand Oaks Cafe. If you love Green Chicken Enchiladas you will absolutely love the Green Chilaquiles with chicken, sour cream and the green Tomatillo sauce. It was so good I am already dreaming of the next time I go so I can enjoy them again.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. Ordered 2 beef fajitas tacos using drive thur. Service was quick, and tacos were served hot with the flour tortilla soft and fresh. The beef fajitas were tender and full of flavor. I will be back for more good eats.

Love everything, guisado is my favorite. Great as usual! We try to go here everytime we visit San Antonio. We usually get the chicken chilaquiles. (Cheel - ah- key- less) I always order carne guisada. The tortillas are very good. Homemade. The pancakes and waffle plates are good as well.

Good food, great atmosphere. This restaurant is known for they're Mexican dishes. They are abundantly amount of dishes to choose from. The location is near McAllister park and trying to find a parking in the front may be an obstacle, but do not fret, there is plenty of parking located at the back of the restaurant. It's also has a drive thru if you are in a hurry.

The food is always delicious and consistent. Hospitality is hit or miss depending on the day, but if the order is on point, there's not much conversation to be had since you'll be too busy eating. 😁

Food is really tasty.... Service is lacking, while nice, some waitresses need to be taught to occasionally check on their tables, they are busy chatting it up. 2nd visit and both times, we literally had to stand up to go ask for basics like water refills. Aside from that, the food is really good and the prices are very reasonable. It's a clean restaurant, I'll try them again and hope that their waitresses step up their waitress game a bit.

Went to the driver thru twice so far. Carne guisada tacos are excellent. Got their chiliquiles plate and omg the flavor was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back.

A friend and I went there for a quick bite since we had an hour to spare. I was only going to get coffee but I decided to get a carne guisada taco to go with my taco. My friend ordered two tacos and a Dr. Pepper. The food was good. The coffee was nice and hot. The price was a tiny bit high. The total was $14.97 (not including tip) for 3 tacos, one coffee and a soda. The service was excellent though. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. It wasn't too busy so our food arrived extremely fast. I would definitely go back.

When they first opened over here, it was one of our favorite places. Their enchiladas are insanely good. They went through a period where the service was so bad (slow and rude) that we'd have to ask ourselves if the enchiladas were worth the frustration of dealing with staff. We quit going. We decided to try it again and have been very pleasantly surprised. Service is great again and food is as delicious as always. Give em a try!

G
Gabrielle Ortega

My only complaint is that they are not open later! I would love to pick up dinner on the way home from work here or go to breakfast on a Sunday. I usually do drive through and I am always greeted with a smile. Delicious homemade tortillas make for some of the better breakfast tacos around!

A
Anthony Ortega

Staff and customer service was excellent. Food was ok. I would give the staff 5 stars and the food 3 stars. It's possible I happened to stop by on a day when the chef was going light on the seasoning and that's why the food was a little bland. I would be willing to give it one more try to see if the food is usually better or if bland food is the norm. If it wasn't for the great servers they have I probably wouldn't bother.

M

Food is good, above average. Clean and open atmosphere, could use more lighting. The waitress was friendly but disappeared after bringing our order. That usually doesn't happen. I'd return.

I had the chili relleno lunch special. It was one of the best I've had in quite a while. There's no atmosphere at all. They need to put pictures on the wall or TVs or something. Service was okay. Not great. I will go back to try other things.

I walked in the place looks very nice and clean. The waitress staff was nice courteous attentive and then I got my food my wife ordered Menudo, which was delicious. I ordered a pork chop plate. It was disgusting. The pork chops had a old smell with no taste. The eggs had no taste. The beans were good. I asked for a replacement and got country sausage and I think I made my plate worse this will definitely be the last time. I spend my money here. Yes, this was a big disappointment.

A group of 18 church members had lunch together. Some said that she could've been faster. She forgot 2 ppl's food. We had to ask for more chips. The Cheese salsa was too runny & not worth $7.99. The food was good. They had a good variety. BUT...no one was clearing our tables. So the waitress in me decluttered; empty baskets, dirty plates & trash. They should had 2 different waitresses serving us for quicker service.

Solid spot with great custome service! Love the enchiladas, just a little small and the chilaquilas were not to my partners liking but not bad! It's personal preference, but you should stop and try it because in this area it is easily the best Mexican food in the area.

Island Man
Island Man

Nice warm colors inside, a lot of wood. They do not set chips and salsa at the table while you wait as most restaurants do. I liked this as I tend to eat too many and don’t need the calories added to my meal. Ordered the brisket plate. Came with rice and beans. Service was very good. The brisket was oven cooked and did not have a smoky flavor. It was very tender and had a good flavor otherwise. I enjoyed my lunch and would recommend.

G
Gaby pruneda

Chorizo & egg with potatoes and refried beans on the side food was pretty good, didnt like was only given 2 tortillas ate them still had food & asked for to go box & if I could have some tortillas to go I declined them bc they were going to charge 50cents each idk if they wouldve charged for them had I still been eating the food there. Nice place inside vibe is odd most servers seem like they're generally annoyed. Not a good atmosphere but good food

A

The food is not consistent, some days you go in there and the food taste great you go back and the food taste different staff is friendly. But they need to do something with the decor.

D
Darrell Crowder

This version of Thousand Oaks Cafe is nothing like the others in town (bar & flat screen TVs here). Also, it is not as intimate or conversation friendly as the one in the Naco-Perrin area, because the ceiling is 15-20 feet off the floor you feel like you are talking in a drum. The service was pleasant, but not stellar. I am a chilaquiles freak. Their's (plata regulares) had too little egg & cirano chili chunks, too many tostada chips, with about the right amount of onions & cheddar cheese. The potatoes were not fried very long. I like mine golden brown outside with soft interior. Refried beans were good, not soupy. My wife had breakfast tacos. The homemade flour tortillas were good, but not toasted as requested, and the bacon was not crisp as requested. Oh, yes, and then there was the issue of limited parking. We had to park behind the restaurant where you have to dodge the drive through line of cars to get in and out of a parking slot. If the line is behind your car as you try to back out you are stuck for awhile.

I love this place when the owner is in the establishment. Otherwise it's a circus 🥸... Our waitress lost our very simple order 2 potato & egg on a toasted tortillas plus a cup of menudo. Our tacos took an hour to arrive. Then the arrival disappointed us completely the food was cold. The menudo had the God awful color. It was tasteless and worthless. Then our waitress forgot our to go tacos. She was literally LOST and confused. This review is based on the SERVICE or should I say lack of service. The other food not including the sock water they call menudo is great! I am a regular customer have never seen such unorganiztion happening💔

Some waitresses have attitude and seem like they don't want to be there. Others have a good attitude. You gotta get there early so you get a seat by the windows or else you get stuck in the dark. Even my 10 year old nephew had trouble seeing. It is just way too dark in there. Service can be slow. Food is good.

L
Lee Ann Robinson

We saw this place and thought it was going to be a great breakfast spot. We were solidly disappointed. My eggs were good as well as the bacon. My issue was the cold toast and cold butter. (Why does no one butter toast? For what you pay for it just throw cold bread at me and dont charge me if i have to do all the work) My son-in-law loved his waffle. The potatoes were bland, not cooked all through not crispy at all. But as you know they are known for their Mexican breakfast food. My daughter had it but it was very watery and she said it was bland. Might have been a bad day. Our waitress was nice but she was busy so we never got refills but oh well. Take a chance but I am not sure we would be back.

Just Average Food & Service. The pictures Below are of the Fajita Omelette. At first glance it looked great as I began to enjoy it, I finally got to the beef..the beef seemed to maybe be a couple days old or maybe been sitting in an open container in the fridge... (just speculation there of course) Even with the old meat, an average dish, not good but not terrible. Same goes with service, we had to ask for silverware, kind of an essential when you need to eat. This place would be 100 times better if service was a bit more friendly. I will come back in the near future, maybe I just came on a bad day.

b
brica stephens (bri)

the food was lackluster and the service okay. they do not serve chips and salsa before the meal and there were no margaritas. the servings are small, especially for the price. we placed a to-go order in addition to dining in and my dad responded with, "yeah don't go there again" when he got his food. a large quesadilla party costs $13 and only had 3 strips of meat..... literally. we chose this place based on the history and reputation of the original location, after our first choice was closed on a Monday and were disappointed. I do not plan on returning and would not recommend.

J

I bought breakfast tacos for my office and waited close to 10 minutes in the drive thru for 10 tacos. They put them in 5 different bags and then charge me for each bag …. In a drive thru!!!! We are all dealing with rising costs but give me a break!

r
rene ramos

I was there this morning starving. 20 min in the drive thru. Got home, my order was all wrong, it was someone else's. I live 5 min away. So long drive thru again, I got hungry and ate 1 of the tacos.... got to the guy at the window and I couldn't believe it, he charged me for the taco I ate. Am I wrong for being a little upset. I mean I wasted about 45 min of my life and gas to get breakfast, had to go back because they messed up my order. And they charged me for a taco... great food by the way. But the person at the drive thru needs to be trained for customer service. I could be over reacting, but I know i have a point

Thousand Oaks Cafe is close to the house. So this makes them an easy quick stop for "Mexican Food". In all honesty they are not that great, food is mediocre while prices are set for much higher value food. They do not offer higher value. Word to the wise when driving through they don't listen to your order it's more of a "You get what we decide you get" scenario. Out of the hundreds of times I have gone there over there years this remains true. Either they are not listing when you order or the cook doesn't care. One or the other. Either way be ready to not get your order correct. There are much better places a bit further but for convenience I will just just deal. Just an update after one year-- Nothing has changed, went through today and ordered a Chalupa plate and got a chalupa. No plate. Why? Because that is all they wanted to hear when I ordered. Silly that a year later the same problem exists. For got to add the Bean and Cheese tacos had a teaspoon serving of beans. 98% Tortilla. Got ripped off for sure. But hey they say "Dining on a budget" who thought it was them too. 6 months later- Stopped for tacos. Bought a drink 3.56$ for a small cup. That is correct I said 3.56$ the cost of three tacos. Or 4 Valero drinks. Or as of posting less than 1 gallon of gas.

J
Joel Valencia

Food is way over priced and you get small amounts. Service was great but no one greets you when you walk in. The cashier on the computer and the waitstaff talking. Also you can hear the kitchen staff and we sat way in the back. It was also dark in our area not what I've seen on line. Management needs to give this place some more attention I honestly thought it be a little busy for breakfast now I know why. And finally the parking is terrible don't go in there with a big truck trust me. Good luck to you as for me it was my first and last time.

Have been going to Thousand Oaks Cafe for decades, including the original and the one on Austin Highway. I don’t know what the deal is but the service for the last several years has been going not just down but crashing and burning. Over 10 minutes to fill 2 tea glasses and bring to the table. Then another 10 to come take the orders. Food was hot this time. Never got the check at the table. Had to go up and tell the cashier what we orders so we could pay after sitting at the table quite some time after the plates were taken up.

G
Gill Smith

It had been years since the last time we ate breakfast here, and after our visit this past week, I just remembered why. The food was a big disappointment. The flour tortillas are reheated store-bought, not homemade. The tacos were had a scant amount of filling, and tasteless. My wife didn’t take but a bite of her bean & cheese taco the beans tasted like they were spooned out of a can. My chilaquiles taco had soggy chips and no cheese, which is usually standard. Our party of 8 all agreed that we’d wait a few years again before returning.

I went to Thousand Oaks Cafe on Jones Maltsberger today for breakfast. My waitress was attentive and I had no issue with her service. I ordered a vegetable omelette, but did not want the pancakes or bean and potatoes that came with the breakfast. The waitress said I could order it a la carte. After it arrived, it was quite small and the bell pepper was cut in large pieces, not diced(I had to use a knife to cut into it). That was not the problem. The food tasted good. I asked if I could substitute ham for the other sides and was told yes. When I received the bill it was almost 15.00. They had charged me for the complete breakfast, plus the ham ( which was paper thin, similar to luncheon meat) and a cup of coffee. I asked the cashier to speak with a manager. I had seen a woman with a headset running around and I assumed it was her. A waiter came out and said that she would not remove or adjust the charge. I asked to speak with her personally and was told that the waiter was the manager. With the tip it was almost 17.00. I wrote on the check that I would not be back and told that to the waiter. His comment was " Yes sir, that's your choice!" and walked off. I want to reiterate that my waitress was excellent, the food good but not exceptional though very small portion. After leaving I called back and asked to speak with the manager and was told she was busy. I asked her to please call me and left my number. I have not heard from her or anyone from the restaurant. Customer service is important to me. Taking the time to speak to a customer, listen the them and make a gesture of good will seems to be lost on this manager. I will make sure NOT to recommend this restaurant to my friends and co-workers.

First off, 7.99 lunch special with no tea I think is a bit high. I know it's lunch, but the portions don't have to be so skimpy! Service with no kindness. Maybe you all should visit Los Robertos Tacos and get an idea what a lunch special plate looks like, pricier, but lots of food and free chips with friendly service!

:( I usually love this place but not today. I got tacos to-go and they were awful. The tortillas were store bought not fresh (unusual) and they smelled of mildew! When I took a good whiff, it was disgusting. I threw everything out and hope I don’t get sick.

K
Krystle Urrabas

My family and I come here all the time. We came yesterday morning ordered our food through the drive thru. Tea was disgusting, the carne guisada tasted fishy and the papa con chorizo was disgusting. We paid 13.00 for our whole order. Owner says she can't replace our food since no one else complained lol. So kind of service they have. Never again will we come back. If I could give it any stars I wouldn't.

M
Maria Zalam

I should have listened! It has 3 stars for a very good reason! I ordered the huevos rancheros with pork chops and my bf ordered pancakes with eggs, bacon and a barbacoa taco on the side. The food looked great until we put it in our mouths! All the food was COLD... Except for the pork chops!! Cold eggs and cold barbacoa are not yummy, let me tell you!!! The bottom pancake was raw in the middle! Yes!... it was raw (see pic)! Needless to say...we will not come back! I tried giving this place another chance but... That's twice in one year and I rather drive further for quality! Actually, tacos n salsas is next door and I can count on their quality. Hope this helps!

Went in for lunch food was not bad. Had the nachos. However the service is not what you’d expect. The servers are not friendly they are annoying. Don’t want to wait on you. They’ll serve your food and don’t bother them. Some of us can speak Spanish even if we look as if we don’t, and understand foul language. I will never be back.

They got my order wrong twice. Didn’t even get everything right when I came back to have it corrected. Food took a long time to come out even though I had a small order. Food was also bland. Would not recommend.

I have been here probably about 5 times, only twice was just ok, I have been to the other thousand oaks cafe and they are better. I will not return to this one, bad service , wait persons doesn't check the food when they bring it out. Or they just don't care, if I could give no stars I would. Prices to high for the food they serve.

This place was awful! Food cold to start. Ordered an omelet, came with mushrooms that were not an ingredient listed on the menu. Good thing I don't have a food allergy. And then they charged me for it and offered nothing to make it right.

1000 Oaks on Jones Maltsburger Caution check your credit card statement. I wrote the amount of tip which by the was a good tip on my receipt and theirs. When I left they changed the amount to what they wanted. Not a good way to do business.

L

We ordered soft tacos and were given beef in a flour tortilla, which was covered with a ranchero sauce and topped with lettuce, fresh tomato and cheese...it was swimming in liquid. We had to pay for it because that was what they call a soft taco. They claim they told us the lettuce and cheese are on the outside the tacos so we should have known they did not understand our order. We live in San Antonio and no other Mexican restaurant would call that a soft taco. And our last name is Rodriguez, we know Mexican food. I feel they have a responsibly to advise their clients they do not use the same terms as the rest of San Antonio. I think they made a mistake but because they would have had to absorb the loss, they refused to admit any misscommunication on their part. We are frequent visitors, but with the cost to eat out increasing I want to spend my money at a place where they admit to their errors. I had to buy 7 more taco.

I called in an order and asked for 3 asada with bean tacos. The lady did not confirm my order to me. When i got there to pick it up they did charge me and collect my money then handed me my paperbag. I had three fajita tacos with onions. This was not my order at all. I suppose part of it is on me since i did not check while there but they had no form of quality control. I called back inform them and they took it as feedback so i got what i didnt want and got nothing out of it. Creepy waiters stopped me from eating inside and this carry out option just destroyed the business in my eyes. Definitely lost a customer. I'd have given no stars if it was an option. Save yourself some trouble and go somewhere else.

First I was expecting more cafe-ish food not Mexican restaurant but I saw they had chicken fried steak which was closest to what I was expecting to be on the menu. When I received my plate they may as well have just given it to me in the frozen dinner tray it came in! The chicken fried steak looked as if it were frozen, down to the a shape and thinness of it, corn was cold and canned, and the mashed potatoes so bland and watery that it fell off my fork multiple times when trying to pick it up. My spouse ordered the Chile relleno and it looked as if they didnt even bother to take the seeds out. Finally we tried the tortillas and those I must say were great and actually appeared to be home made. They must be doing something right because people were regulars there, then again they were all males and the waitresses all joked with them calling them their "lovers". I will NEVER go back.

Went today for breakfast and my mother in law had a long hair in her taco. When we mentioned to server, she said a bad word in spanish and took the food to the back. Never apologize just had taco remade. Was not happy with service and food. Will not be returning to this place again. Austin hwy location is way better..especially staff.

Unfortunately one of my favorite restaurants in the area has completely lost its way. After years of eating here we have now had 5 straight orders come out wrong. Maybe if the staff taking the orders pretended to be interested we would get the correct ones. After our previous 4 experiences we went against our better judgement to give a place we used to love another shot, and guess what.? The order was wrong. I don't recommend coming back until they fix their extensive issues.

We got there and the waitress was lovely, we ordered and waited then we asked for chips and guacamole and we asked if there was a charge and to my supprises yes the chips were NOT part of their menu like most places... Then the food came, the plates were hot however the actual food luke warm. When I asked for salsa the waitress quickly quipped " there was no charge!" I was taken aback, however since she had been nice I just smiled. Then the chips came and they looked like the leftovers on the bottom of the bag! I did mention it to the waitress, however she said nothing! So for $26.00 I find this very pricey and the food was like warm and chips were so broken you could even pick up the guacamole! So patron be WARE!!!

Worst service ever with the drive thru guy. He messed up my order and we noticed it at the window when he repeated back The order. Then he continued to argue what he put in was right as we were wrong on order. So I get home after this incident and he still messed up the order. We called the restaurant and he gets on the phone and still says we ordered wrong. Unbelievable!! I would choose Taco N Salsa over this place everyday mainly bc he was rude not once but twice and then again on the phone.

Constantly screw up orders in to go line and don't honor customer service. Found bread tie in soup! "Used" to be a regular customer and the staff has always been kind, until today! I ordered a beef soup last week through the drive through. When I got home they had totally messed up my order, forgotten the rice, which comes with the order, and to make matters worse the soup had a bread tie in it. I called the restaurant and spoke with the Mgr (owners daughter) regarding the situation she sincerely apologized and said she would make a note and give me credit for the next visit. So today I called and spoke with someone who saw the note and they read it to me and said I could get the credit. I ordered tacos and said I would stop by and pick up. Upon arrival the person who took my order said the manager on duty would NOT honor my credit. After speaking with her and asking her how did the staff know about what happened, she couldn't explain anything to me, but that she still would NOT honor my credit. I told her I was a regular customer as well as some as my other friends and family and due to her poor customer service she would lose business and she said it didn't matter!

If I could put zero stars I will would. They do not clean tables properly. I had 3 different encounters with wait staff and the girls look at me with disgust. The guy who took out order forgot a Dr Pepper. The tea was horrible. Brought 2 wrong orders and enchiladas are nothing but a ton to tortilla and sharp American cheese. It was the first time we never left a tip. The guy was rude, he had us sit and then wait for a while before drink orders. He out right told us he forgot the soda. When food came, I had to ask for the soda. This place was so horrific that I started telling all my friends never to go!

Normally this place is pretty good...NORMALLY🤷‍♂️ But today was horrible. We had a group of 5 people and 2 of our orders were WRONG! One of us ordered the Carne Asada plate and was served an order of Carne Guisada🙄 huge difference. I ordered their White Enchiladas which are delicious here and was served regular Enchiladas...when I told the waiter he actually lied to me and told me they were the White Enchiladas 😳 really like I can't see that they are smothered in brown gravy instead of the white sauce. WTH🤷‍♂️

Very pricey for Mexican food and what they offer. My meal was $14.99 for 1 enchilada, one crispy taco with no meat and a bean chalupa. (Lunch special) Sorry, 1 half cup of burracho beans. No chips, no salsa. First time there, NEVER going back.

It would've been a lot better if the food had come out hot and the service hadn't been terrible. The response to the food being cold was, "We're sorry about that, that'll be $42.50." We had only eaten a couple bites so it's not like we complained after eating everything.

This place has amazing food but I just experienced them charging my card $70 for nothing. When I attempted to fix the issue the supervisor I spoke with was extremely rude and denied it. I offered to prove it with my bank statement and she responded, "what, you want me to give you the $70, I'm not doing that". And she proceeded to call me a liar. She stated this was a bank issue and I clarified with my bank that it wasn't. I'm extremely surprised at this response because we go there at least three times out of the week. If you go here, take cash. There's someone you can't trust here.

Have been there 5 times in last month and only once did they get my order correct in the drive through. Once I even had to go back twice to get my order correct which is a shame because the taste of the food is very good Today was the final straw. To keep the mistakes low I kept my order very basic and they still messed it up I ordered 2 bacon and egg tacos and 1 bean and cheese with bacon. I paid over $8 for three tacos When I got home I discovered they forgot the bacon in my bean taco and found the receipt in my bag charging me for 4 tacos all with bacon. Tried phoning the manager but just got the runaround. Guess I’ll be going back to TNS which doesn’t mess up my orders in the five years I’ve been going there but their tortillas aren’t as good as Thousand Oaks.

The food was simply bad. The chilè relleno was covered in a soggy, breaded coating and sitting in a pool of very watered-down sauce. Oh and $50 for two regular plates and two drinks. It's been more than a yr since I've eaten there and I still think about how horrible that food was and wonder if they just had a bad day or are they always serving food that gross. Either way I won't be spending $50 to find out.

I went in at 1:15 pm on Friday, March 24, 2023 and it took me almost 30 minutes to get one plate of Shrimp Enchiladas!! Waitress never came by to let me know that my order would be out soon. I had the other waitresses tell me that. Waitress never checked on me if I needed anything. Finally I get my plate and the plate was not at all what I expected, big disappointment!! I went because it came highly recommended, but I will not be going back!!! Almost $20.00 for 2 enchiladas, rice and beans!!!

I eat here every weekend. The waitresses (Lily,Lola, Marina, Stephanie, Yosephine) are attentive and work hard to get orders right. The food was fantastic, breakfast or lunch. Unfortunately, the owner has often failed to buy ingredients for my favorite plates, which include egg whites and spinach plate, guacamole salad with chicken fajita, soda. As a result, after waiting months for improvement to no avail, I have adjusted this rating down. The waitresses are stuck working with a voss who is no longer invested in pleasing customers and serving whats on the menu. I now recommend Ay Chiwawa, Las Palapas, Magnolia Pancake Haus as alternatives. Very disappointed.

I ordered on Grubhub for pickup. I was told my food would be ready when I arrived in 10-15 minutes. Showed up 15-18 minutes later and looked at the app which showed my food was ready. I entered the restaurant and found out my food order was not complete it was missing my two large drinks. The waitress assisting me told me I didn't order any drinks. She looked and then went to get me one of the two drinks. When I showed her that I had ordered two from the app. One of the other waitresses told her to give me small drinks instead as the price was different. However, when I order from the Thousand Oaks location I receive the drinks I ordered and pay for. When I told the waitress this she told me that the item was priced wrong and I was not going to get what I ordered and paid for. This was after they tried to short one drink from my order. When I said this is not a customer problem this is an issue between the restaurant and Grubhub they looked at me like I had lost my mind. This is poor customer service from the restaurant's end and needs to be resolved and not at the customer's expense. When I told Grubhub what had occurred it was made right. Do not waste your time or hard-earned money at this location. Thousand Oaks cafe on Jones Maltzberger you need to do better.

I took my sister to Blanco Cafe for enchiladas. The place was packed. I told her, no problem, we'll go to 1,000 Oaks. My enchiladas were cold, the rice was also. I was very disappointed. But, in their defense, it was the first time I wasn't happy with the food.

Ordered the beef fajitas and the meat is literally just chewy pieces of fat can’t even swallow. It hardly even tears apart. Never again.

Food here has gone downhill. We had breakfast here and both of our meals were cold. We will not eat here again. To expensive to be a non eatable meal. Not to mention the oatmeal was like water. No flavor at all.

Very bad service and manager lied of the size of the tacos, I asked him what size is it and he showed me the sign of the hand then I ordered it 4 and brought me 4 big tacos! I thought it was small and I got full with 2 tacos and still was forced to pay all of 4 tacos ! 😡😡 first time in my life giving negative on Mexican restaurant

Breakfast tacos are ok, horrible huevos rancheros had to return and get tacos. Cook can't seem to know the difference between over medium and over easy eggs. Nobody likes under cooked eggs. Service is so unfriendly. This was the last time I go there. Thought I'd give them another chance but no.
