Really great vegetarian stir fry that was served fast
If you want great, authentic pho this is what you’re looking for.
This is now one of my favorite places. Large portion sizes for everything. Absolutely delicious. Atmosphere is chill as can be. Service was amazing. I’m so stoked
Best ox tail pho I have had. My wife and daughters had the rare steak, which was also very good. Nice broth and well cooked noodles. Would come again if in the area.
This is the best pho place I have ever been to, and I have been to my fair share of pho restaurants. My partner and I go at least once a week, and it never disappoints. The waiters treat you like family, the food comes out in five minutes of less, and it’s always so delicious. I’m gluten free and vegan, and it’s always such a treat when I find a place that accommodates that and has food for my meat loving partner too! Please give it a try, it’s delicious and this place deserves all the hype!!
This place can see some remodeling after a few decades but the food is always the best and I still drive an hour to check them out most weekends.
I’ve never dined in restaurant, but we frequent this place for takeout. Pho is always ready in 10 minutes or less and the quality is very consistent. We love the rare beef pho! My kids who are 3 and 6 years old also request the pho here regularly.
Since Thanh Binh came to San Clemente years ago it has always been a favorite of ours. Best of it's type in South OC. But with the state of the restaurant business the past couple years, we have been trying to spread the love around as much as possible so it had been quite a while since we were here last. We went back today for a big lunch and unlike many other places, the portions are still generous and super tasty, the prices realistic and the service friendly and attentive. We love Thanh Binh!
I came back to this place after 2 years and I’ll leave 5 stars cause the people working there right now are really kind and the food still is delicious! Thanks 🙏🏾! ——————————————————- Old review I'm leaving 2 stars because the tofu and vegetable pho was delicious, but the customer service at this place is horrible guys. There was a waiter and a waitress. The waitress was a little friendlier than the man who works as a waiter. The man does not greet, he has abrupt movements and serves better those who seem to be whiter, yes, unfortunately the man seems to be a little racist, treating each table differently. Good pho but terrible service. I don't recommend it if you want to have a good time or if you're not white enough.
I came here with my family. The food was delicious. I ordered their famous pho and calamari. Oh my goodness, it was delicious. I normally go to Than Binh II in Lake Forest and been going there since I was a kid. I finally get to check this place out. The service was great.
The pho was delicious and reasonably priced. $14 for a medium rare beef and brisket served with beans sprouts and Thai basil. Quantity was huge and I could not finish the medium even tho I was hungry.
This place seems to get better every time we go. I workout right next door and sometimes we choose to go here out of convenience but between the high value and the high level of tasty/yum I think we will be back more often! The oxtail pho is dynamite. I love the vermicelli dishes especially with the combo of pork, shrimp and egg roll. Tried it yesterday with rice instead, but stole some of my wife’s noodles :) the pho really is a winner! So tasty! Excited for my next meal there.
Needed a soup/pho fix. The price was a little higher than some places I've been to. A small-medium bowl, is hella more than enough. But nevertheless, it was a pretty good, clean, well constructed restaurant. Staff was kind and nice to us. Place definitely had some character. Conveniently located, passing through, between Orange County and San Diego. I'd recommend it for sure.
Love this place!! Food is fresh and amazing! Had spicy fried tofu and calamari appetizer. Their portions and pretty large i definitely recommend!!
Good food and service.
Very good! Quick service and everything tasted delicious. Staff were very polite and friendly. Pho was amazing!!
My place is far from here. But I will go again here soon. Calamari fried was absolutely good good good . Try this one. Everyone. And the basic pho was delicious too. Mine was curry with chicken and noodles, and....... it was best of best. Little creamy, good enough spicy, and well cooked chicken. Try this. With curry (for deep in sauce) and fried calamari. You can taste another world.

Good food, good service and fair prices. The Pho soup is delicious and the big bowl for somebody who is very hungry. Nice visit.
I like coming here good food the only thing that I don’t like is that the server’s are always in the hurry for you to order: You barley sat down and look at the menu for 5 minutes and the waiter is asking you if you’re ready to order. Like hello I just sat down give me a few minutes so I can decide what to order.
We decided to pull over to eat to wait out traffic. It’s conveniently located off the highway with great reviews. This place is very affordable for a place that’s near the beach. It did not sacrifice taste even though it’s far from the Vietnamese community. They offer 3 sizes for pho ranging from $11-$15. We got a small bowl of chicken pho ($11.50), small house combo pho ($12), side of oxtail ($8), and fried spicy chicken wings located under “side” ($15). It came with rice! The pho was decent, the oxtail was on the smaller end and not as tender but it had so much meat! It was like eating ribs. I found it odd the spicy fried chicken wings was not under appetizer but under sides. Different than the garlic wings listed under appetizer. It also came with rice! The wings were jumbo. Such a great deal. It was a wet marination and not spicy. We would definitely stop here again in the feature if we need to wait out traffic. Plenty of parking, outdoor seating possible and they have a private room for large parties.
Pho was delicious and decently priced. I am not sure what's going on but many pho places I feel are way over charging for pho. Portions and size of Fried Eggrolls were small but at least they were tasty. Didn't care much for the Shrimp Spring Rolls. They will take off-menu orders. We ordered a bowl that was tendon only. We came during regular dinner hours and didn't feel rushed. Place is kind of dated and did not seem the cleanest but was the best pho this far from Westminster and reasonably priced.

Unfriendly service, dirty tables and takeout menus used in the restaurant as the “menu”. This “Vietnamese” place is apparently run by Chinese (all of the pictures on the wall have Chinese writing and the staff are speaking Chinese to one another). That said, there was plenty of parking and the chow fun noodles were actually delicious. Great moist chicken breast on top. I was suitably impressed by this dish for a “Vietnamese” restaurant in San Clemente. Egg rolls were nothing but mushrooms inside which I immensely disliked and didn’t eat. The egg rolls are also tiny thin. I don’t recommend those. The fish sauce was mild but good. The pho was not bad but served lukewarm. Price was fair for sure.
I really didn't enjoy that literally every single employee working there had an active and persistent cough during my meal. I'll still give it three stars since the food was tasty enough and it's been a few days and I didn't get sick, but we definitely ate fast and tried to get it out asap. Not the most pleasant experience.
We moved tables after the Hoisin table sauce bottle exploded (for no apparent reason, maybe the sun or over filling) & splattered across the ceiling and on my nephews. Could have taken someone’s eye out & not even a discount or concession was offered. Even after pops jokingly asked. Never going back.
Found this restaurant from Google while shopping nearby. Ordered large pho, bbq pork and rice for our kids, and spring rolls. Was disappointed overall. Food came out within 5 minutes of ordering... convenient but certainly indicates food isn't freshly made - which is understandable for efficiency reasons. Cons: - The pork on the pork/rice plate was cold/room temp. I had to ask them to heat it up for us and just had an annoyed expression. They didn't respond when I asked but did take it back. The kids did it eat it well after and it tasted OK. - the spring rolls were dry and poorly made. Tasted like they made it yesterday or something. The peanut/brown sauce they brought out with us abnormally watery. - Pho/soup flavor didn't taste very good. - the Sriracha sauce bottle at our table was full, but unfortunately the cap was not twisted on, so I went to squeeze some, the cap and a bunch of the sauce spilled out and made a mess. - pretty unfriendly staff. Could be due to a language barrier but no smiles from any of the 3 staff we interacted with. They also don't respond when I request something - though they do follow through with it by bringing it silently. Overall, I can't say any dish tasted particularly good and the service was one of the worst I've experienced. Wouldn't recommend.
MORGUE VIBE ! My wife and I were out on our Sunday bike ride to the downtown area. LUNCH TIME ! A couple of places where we usually eat proved unsuitable on the day so we started riding home at around 2pm. AND THEN ! As we passed In-N-Out Burger near the freeway overpass I remembered this Vietnamese joint that my wife thought might be worth a try one day. I suggested we have lunch here before we ride up the big hill to home...my wife agreed ! After parking our eBikes on the vacant back patio / front patio ( hard to tell ) I headed inside for a look and a menu. NOT IDEAL ! Dark and dingy came into my mind first....and it was almost empty. I asked a server for a menu and took it outside to show my wife. We are more than familiar with Vietnamese food and the menu had the usual suspects. It was the quality I was more worried about. In the end we decided to give it a go. My wife ordered 2 x Number 50's....Grilled Shrimp, Pork Vermicelli & Eggroll. DEFINITELY NOT A CHEERY PLACE ! The staff walked around like zombies and made no effort to be friendly to us. Even though the ratings on Google Maps and Yelp were okay I would say this joint has been running on fumes for years. Our lunch order arrived pretty fast and looked okay. BELOW AVERAGE ! I ate the 2 shrimp in my bowl and most of the chewy flavorless pork belly. Surprisingly more than a few people started to show up for dine-in or pickups. GIVE THIS PLACE A MISS IF YOU WANT QUALITY FOOD !
Beef pho was tasty but soup was served bit cold. Meatball does not taste good and tripe was funky, skip this.

Food safety hazard is a very serious issue. We saw them having some okay reviews and bought some shrimp spring rolls today. After the first bite, we knew something was kind of off. Those shrimps smell like feet and taste sour. The most disgusting part is we already ate one of them. Spring rolls' peanut sauce and the wrap kind of covered up the smell a bit. After the first one, we opened it up and the horrible smells bursted out. This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. We called the owner, he just said oh ok. no solution, no apologies. I'm surprised no one sue them yet. THIS IS DISGUSTING.
An awful experience overall. I was ignored repeatedly and the food served was mediocre. Everyone working seemed to have a scowl on their face and every employee was rude to me. Take my advice and go somewhere else.
I am surprised this place has good reviews. I arrived here hungry. Entered waited about 4 minutes to get a table. It was 145 pm I guess tail end of lunch rush. Sat down table was sticky I can live with that I am hungry. Menu looked like it had been recycled several times it's it's paper menu. Waited for 10 minutes for someone to take my order. No one came decided to walk out. It is probably the best thing that happened. After felling how sticky the table and the recycled menu I started having second thoughts of the cleanliness of the place. 15 to 20 min from this dump there are 5 other pho places heading north to get food Cleaner establishments it is covid time Go eat else where alcohol wipes to clean my hands my hands were super sticky
Not at all a good restaurant. Rude staff. Frozen spring rolls..food was edible but not at all good. I will never be back. Don't waste your money or time here.
So I walk in and it seems to be a mom and a dad and possibly your uncle and aunt that worked there staring at me an odd silence for about 20 seconds and then finally one of them decided to greet me with pick up not are you here for pick up? How may I help you just pick up I said no I would like to order a sandwich pork sandwich. The gentleman responded what kind of sandwich, but decided to yell it then I repeated myself pork, please. He then went to the cash register and put out his hand did not say anything but put out his hand referring to my card. I don’t know if it’s a language barrier or they feel as if they should just treat people like scum, but I felt very insulted. He did not tell me how much the sandwich was. He just went to charge the card. I stopped him and asked him how much is the sandwich and then he told me eight dollar. I said OK. He ran the card and I sat down and waited for my sandwich. He said it would take about 10 minutes I waited for about five minutes and my sandwich arrived instead of the gentleman handing the sandwich to me. He decided to place it on the opposite side of the room and said your sandwich is over there. I felt very disrespected and I thought that was very rude that he could not just hand me the sandwich. The customer service here was very sad. I do not recommend going into this restaurant due to the customer service lacking skill
My daughter and I arrived at the restaurant where there was nobody else but us. We were provided menus and ordered, but after ordering were never checked upon again the shrimp had large dark trace amounts of poop in them and we asked the restaurant and they said that’s how it comes. I think that’s pretty gross. Super unfriendly which is unfortunate.
Well, I liked the cheese wontons. Our waiter was awful, extremely rude, and snappy. A good first impression means nothing here. He literally grumbled when we placed our order. I wouldn't rank this place high on the cleanliness scale. The more I looked around, the less I wanted to see. I'd skip out on this one.
Seeing all these 5 star reviews apparently they have not been to a better place. The waiter was super rude and rushing me to order..The food was disgusting no taste over charge for a bowl that should be a regular size. The chicken was basically non existent in the bowl and literally thin strips with no flavor. Out of the many different pho places I've been to this is by far the worst. Would give 0 stars. Men's restroom was disgustingly dirty. Buyer Beware
I really hate to do this. This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Clemente. I work in SC and I live in North County SD. I always get the Chicken Chow Fun Soft Noodles it’s delicious! I have been coming here for years. I had 1 bad experience but I let it go. Today I placed an online order (first time) .. everything went well … half way eating my food .. I found a BUG! I just couldn’t believe it.. As much as I love this place . I can’t no more. I would advice check your food.

I used to love this place - I've been going to this restaurant since I was a kid just after it was converted from being the Waffle Lady that occupied the same building. I've lived in multiple cities and happen to be back in San Clemente for personal circumstances. The food is overpriced (I ordered the $20 'rare beef' pho that we all know isn't rare, and I found 5 scraps of beef) in my bowl. Broth was fine as it should be at a Pho/Ramen/Soup, but nothing to write home about like it used to be. Irvine has better options. If $20 means "less meat" now with everything going on, I'd rather pay more to get what I was expecting. On the service end, I was told "sit anywhere" faster than I could find a table - I was being yelled at "are you sitting here?! are you sitting here?!" virtually the second I walked into the joint.... why? Despite everything I was ready to buy more (specifically another beer and some spring rolls) and I had nobody checking in. It felt like I was lucky to be there and I should be grateful for even having a seat in what was a completely empty restaurant. I don't know what happened to this spot that used to be a gem in San Clemente, maybe management? It used to be great value, good service, tried and true flavors other than subpar pizza, overpriced burritos, and self-aggrandizing culinary concepts. I will never go back which is so disappointing. I really did love this place and after my experience I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. For the reader - if you want very "eh" Pho in an sterile environment, want to be treated like you're inconvenient cattle for wanting a meal that you're paying for, and not be acknowledged despite wanting to buy more and paying for said meal, this place is for you.
Vermicelli dish with grilled shrimp. Horrible ingredients. Shrimp was dry and hard. Overcooked and stiff . Service below average. Restaurant is completely sub standard. AVOID !
