Opinions de Blind Lady Ale House San Diego
we stumbled upon this gem while visiting San Diego and staying nearby — and what a find! The moment we heard Blink-182 playing as we approached, we took it as a sign we had to check it out, and it did not disappoint. The vibe was laid-back yet full of energy, with a great mix of music, ambiance, and personality that immediately drew us in. I ordered the Pisco Sour craft cocktail, and it was absolutely top-notch — perfectly balanced and so refreshing. Cody, our bartender, made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and clearly knows his way around a cocktail shaker. Being within walking distance of our Airbnb was a bonus, but this place is worth going out of your way for. It’s officially on our list of must-visit spots whenever we’re in San Diego!
Turning into one of my favorite spots for an after work drink. Cocktails always executed perfectly, bartenders always friendly (shoutout to Jasmine, Shayne & Eileen), and free popcorn to munch on. They also have a great happy hour!
Love the vibe, it's cozy and retro with well priced drinks and a good happy hour. They sometimes have live music on the weekends (website says every Thursday but we were there on a Saturday night and they had a band playing.) The patio out back is great too!
Quant little bar with an old Western flare. Friendly upgrade service and a get DJ in the house in this night. Nice patio in back and I love the wallpaper in the bathroom. Very impressed with the quality of their popcorn. A must try.
A cozy cabin with a delightful patio and signature drinks that tie it all together! Despite the rush and limited staffing, drinks still came out quickly and to the highest quality.
Updated for 2022: the pandemic didn’t touch this neighborhood gem. Still charming, old-fashioned but laid back bar. No dress code, low prices, and cheesy movies on the screen. An easy recommendation.
Fun place to go. Great drinks and service. Had fun playing music trivia bingo.
A+ bar in normal heights. Sometimes the music can get so loud it’s hard to have a conversation, but still a really fun atmosphere. Street parking only.
Great cocktails, friendly service, quality cocktails, some fun games (if that’s your thing), and super cool homey vintage vibe. Cocktails are $3 cheaper on average than, say, Polite Provisions. Give this place a go! PS— free popcorn!
Just moved in to the neighborhood Justin kp Eileen made feel home! Can’t wait to be back
The best cocktail bar in Normal Heights, hands down. Fantastic, friendly staff always make it a fun night.
Stopped by Sycamore Den for a quick drink, and I have to say, it didn’t disappoint. The vibe was laid-back with great music, and the place had just the right energy—not too loud, not too quiet. I started with a Whiskey Sour, which was perfect, and followed it up with a Wolf Ticket—smooth, easy to drink, and made just right. The bartender was on it, making sure my glass didn’t stay empty for long. It’s little touches like that that make a place stand out. If you’re looking for a spot with solid drinks and a chill atmosphere, Sycamore Den is worth a visit!
One of the few bars in SD with consistent, amazing service. Everyone is so friendly and attentive, very refreshing. Great atmosphere and drinks as well :)
I just recently moved to the area and had been to some other places on Adams. Last night was my first time at the Syc and I had a great time. Danielle was my bartender and she was polite, friendly and professional. The service was absolutely top notch and worth every bit of the $3 tip I left. Even the bartender who clocked in to relieve her was on point. She clocked in and literally turned around and asked if I needed another drink. She was ready. I will definitely be back often and see myself being a regular here. Atmosphere was very chill. I was alone so that’s what I was looking for. They had live music which was very entertaining and fun to watch. I love this place! P.S. I was kidding! I did not leave a $3 tip. Please spare me 😭
Great happy hour that runs every day from 5-7. Cold beer and fast service. When Eileen plays music it takes the bar to another level. Thank you !
It's perfect, don't come here! Great dive and cocktail bar mix. Great crowd and amazing bartenders! Order a beer on tap or an espresso martini, the range is top tier here!
I absolutely love the atmosphere here! 😍✨ The whole place has such a cozy, retro vibe that instantly makes you feel comfortable. It’s the kind of spot where you can relax, unwind, and just enjoy the moment. The drinks are reasonably priced, which is always a bonus, and their happy hour deals are definitely worth checking out. 🍹💸 They also host live music from time to time, which adds so much character to the experience. 🎶 The website mentions shows every Thursday, but when we visited on a Saturday night, there was a band playing and the energy was fantastic! It made the evening feel even more special and lively. Another highlight is the patio in the back — it’s a great space to hang out, especially when the weather is nice. 🌿🌙 Whether you’re inside soaking in the retro charm or outside enjoying the fresh air, this place has a vibe that keeps you coming back. I’d happily return again! 💛
I love that they offer vegan options! The pepperoni pizza is amazing and a really decent size. The crust is solid, pepperoni amount is generous, and it actually feels filling, not like an afterthought. They also have an awesome beer selection, and I really appreciate that they carry sour beers—those are pretty amazing too and not always easy to find. The vibe is super chill and welcoming, and there always seems to be something going on with all the weekly events. It’s the kind of place where you can come with a group of friends, but it’s just as nice to hang out solo, grab a drink, and relax for a bit. Overall, it’s an easy go-to spot that never disappoints.
My favorite pizza and beer spot in San Diego. The beer list is as good as they come, with plenty of rotation and sought after selections. The pizza menu is creative and delicious, perfected in a wood fire that oven. I’d say everyone needs to frequent this place, but I’m crowd adverse and don’t like lines…
Live love BLAH! My favorite spot in Normal Heights, its perfect for a night out with friends to catch up, share pizzas, and drink beer. Or if you're like me and prefer wine.... theres a teeny tiny corkage fee and you can bring (several) bottles of wine. It can be a bit loud because of all the people inside chatting but thats what makes the atmosphere so great.
Normal Heights's original beer bar. Amazing tap list (and not beer also). Pizza outstanding. Fries are plentiful and come with three dipping sauces. The Caesar salad is a delicious staple
We recently tried Blind Lady Ale House since it’s a great place for larger groups. We really enjoyed everything we had from the pizza to the fries to the salad. We tried one of the pizza specials, Shepards pie, and were very pleased! The staff was very friendly too.
We had a team dinner at here and tried out some different types of pizzas. I really like the atmosphere at this place, so fun and their pizzas are delicious. My favorite is the mushroom one. Their pizza crust is thin and fluffy, it’s more like a Italian style pizza, also a little bit like New York Style as well. Their beers are tasty. It’s a very cute spot for friends gathering.
We loved it. The pizza is thin crust with a fabulous smoky, fired pizza crust. All of the ingredients taste super clean and FRESH. We had a pizza with prosciutto and one with sausage and one with a pesto sauce which all three were super delicious! The salads, one Caesar and one greens were excellent, and The Belgian hand cut Fries are UNEQUALED: piping hot perfect salt perfection. Great beer to be had. Awesome team people! Order at counter, and take number to your table and food comes out quickly!! Since no waitstaff, per se, PLEASE REMEMBER TO STILL TIP AT PAYMENT! These restaurant team people well earn that tip. Very caring, patient people work there!

Only walked in to check out more options in the neighborhood. Was super busy and live music playing when I was there...which added to it's ambiance. I'm willing to give it a try.
Friend and I went in looking for a pint and some dinner. We grabbed a menu and got in line. They serve crispy flat bread pizza and a nice selection of beer. One pizza fed two with a great ale and cider combo. Great casual ambiance. Will go again. Open late.
Order & pay at the bar, take a number and seat yourself. Table sharing is the way to go in this popular crowded bar. I had the mussels and French fries. The broth that the mussels were cooked in was excellent (white wine + garlic?), but unfortunately the mussels in the shell were tiny. The French fries are not the traditional shoestring fries, but are nonetheless great, steak potato fries. Certainly plenty to share! My friends had the very popular thin crust pizza. It appears housemade with fresh ingredients. Look at that fresh green basil! Beer is mostly from Russian River, CA. I had a great lager beer. My friend has a coffee flavored stout that she said was terrific.
I come here for beer and pizza 🍕 often. They have amazing pizza. I tried almost all flavors and they were all tasty. The crust is exactly the way I wanted. I really their pesto fries as well. They also have a good selection of beer. I just found a tropical beer - Drekker Chonk- that i really liked. I’ll be returning soon.

Yum! Love the beer and pizza. Combo pizza was awesome. If you're looking for service, not the best as it's an order at the bar spot.
Cool space with live music. We didn't have food but the beers were pretty good. There was a collab going on with a couple other breweries at the time.

Great vibe, great atmosphere for a small gathering. We had live music at the time of our dinner but honestly the music was definitely too loud. I could hardly carry a conversation with the person sitting next to me. Food was good. Hazy IPA was great(forgot the name). Great spot to hang with friends, but overall food was just so so.

SHOCKINGLY BAD PIZZA. I would not recommend coming here because of the pizza. It is awful. However, the retro atmosphere is cool and it seems like a fun place to grab beers. Pizza is total crap though and I want to throw that out there for anyone looking for a good pizza place via Reddit. The margarita pizza tastes like a lunchables pizza. Overdone on the sauce and the crust has no flavor. The other pizzas also have this same taste. If you want good beer and apps, sure go here. If you want pizza … stay far away. If you want good pizza, instead go to Bronx, Sisters, etc.
I ordered a Moscow mule and then took a sip. It was bitter and contained no alcohol. I asked the bartender if she put alcohol in it and she looked me in the eye and said yes. Epic Fail
Place is terrible now compared to what it used to be. So sad. UPDATE/EDIT: The owner’s response asked for specifics, so here they are: I’ve visited this bar many times over the years and it used to be great, but the quality has shifted. One of my specific issues was being charged for a double that I personally watched the bartender free-pour, fill with mixer, and end up being weaker than a standard single. When a customer pays a premium for a double, it isn't “berating” staff to expect the basic effort of a measured pour to ensure they get what they paid for. If management’s first instinct is sarcasm rather than addressing consistency behind the bar, it confirms my original point: the place just isn't what it used to be.
