Loved the food! We got the appetizer sampler and the quesadillas were outstanding. I got the chicken fajita burrito and my boyfriend got the mole enchiladas. Both were delicious. We shared the margarita flight and we both agreed the cucumber margarita was the best. You get a view of the airfield with the prop planes taking off. The service and excellent and we’ll be going back :)

Such an awesome place!! I was there with family to celebrate the anniversary of my grand father's life after his passing last October. He LOVED this place for many years! We had a large party of about 14 people and the staff did an excellent job. We were also perfectly timed with the Miramar airshow! And got to watch it from our tables! The portions are huge, so you WILL be leaving with a box for later ; ) Kid friendly, lots of windows on the north side to watch the small private places to land and take off UP CLOSE!. Awesome decor and ambience.

There are two entrances, one near the elevator through the private party entrance and one through the building. Make sure to check in with the hostess at the front near the bathrooms. Let's just appreciate the carrots that they bring to the table with the chips and salsa. These were delicious. We asked for more twice. We liked them more than the chips! The meatball soup came with rice and beans and a tortilla. Order the chili rejenio, it was light and made the way God intended. The bathroom was clean. The wait staff was friendly and hardworking. The reason for the lower score was the menu was brown writing on brown colored paper. It was super hard to read in the dimly lit room. It would be a good idea to have a bigger font in clear writing. The decor was eclectic, there were spacious booths and tables. Come early.

Didn’t know what to expect when the gps said we arrived and we were at one of the San Diego smaller airports. Do NOT be deceived by that. Go inside and go upstairs to a fantastic Mexican restaurant. The servers were friendly the portions were big enough that I think we all took some food home with us because we couldn’t eat it all. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely go back there!

Great place for some lunch after a flight! The service was top notch and the salsa was perfect👌! Their mole is like a dark chocolate and is no joke! Delicious, but not for the feint of heart. It's spicy and bitter. Their burritos were huge and their green sauce was delicious. Got the barria tacos as an app and they did not disappoint. 😋

Excellent lunch in Machado, a Mexican food restaurant at the airport. Unassuming at first, inside the terminal building at Montgomery airport in San Diego. Round the corner and climb the stairs to another world, full of tradition, and warmth. The restaurant has been a well known stop in for pilots flying in for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The staff are well mannered and knowledgeable about the menu. Their homemade salsas, green and red come with the tortilla chips. That's a plus in my experience. Their is a rather long menu with just about anything you can think of regarding Mexican cuisine. To keep it simple, they have a single picture page-menu by day of the week showing a daily special. I had the beef taco, cheese enchilada plate. My friend had the fish Taco plate. We both finished all of our lunch. We flew in, but I assume there is easy access for people that want to drive here.

Great spot for delicious authentic Mexican food. I've been coming here for decades, and it has remained consistently excellent. Huge menu and reasonable prices. On this visit, I tried the soup for the 1st time, and it didn't disappoint. We spent about $35 per person, including a margarita. It can be tricky to find so you see a lot of "regulars" there... it's a well-known spot for happy hour or after-work dinners with the local business people. The staff is friendly and attentive. Plenty of wait staff on hand and they all chip in, so you rarely have to wait for anything.

My family and I love Casa Muchado. The food and service is excellent. We like to sit by the window and watch the planes at Montgomery Field. Iconic and one of a kind.

Good meal. Large portions. They don't hold back on giving a filling meal. I wish I could remember the waiters name. He was awesome and very attentive. Younger man with tattoos. Eating and watching small planes land and take off was great entertainment while eating. Dessert was delicious.

The restaurant was located in an unexpected area, within the Montgomery Gibbs Executive airport. There was plenty of parking and it felt secluded which was nice. Despite having dinner on a Saturday evening, they weren’t insanely busy either. Immediately, we liked the decor and the relaxed atmosphere. Most of the staff, with the exception of our waitress, could have been friendlier. I ordered their Chile Rellenos plate with rice and beans as well as their margarita flight. I appreciated that they cleaned out the seeds in the chiles. The seeds are time consuming to remove, but it makes a huge difference in the overall quality and pleasantness of the dish. I also liked the flavor of the cheese used in the chiles. The rice and beans were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The margaritas were served on an airplane shaped board which was a cute concept given their location, but not ideal for the table. The board takes up too much space and the drinks weren’t very stable. The margaritas were unfortunately mediocre. The flavors I chose were mango, strawberry and tamarindo. The strawberry was noticeably made with just fruit juice, the mango was too sweet and the tamarindo was hardly discernible. The drinks had a nice kick though. We also ordered their chicken mole entree and it probably was the worst mole dish I’ve had. It lacked depth in flavor and it was entirely too sweet. It didn’t have any heat to contrast with the sweetness. My daughter ordered their bean and cheese burrito with a side of fries. She enjoyed her dish. The only complaint she had was that the beans overflowed out of the burrito which made it messy to eat. We paid approximately $350 (including tip) for 7 people. Their prices were reasonable and despite some misses, I would return to sample other dishes.

10/14/22: I found this place online and I wanted to be away from downtown San Diego. GPS took us to the Montgomery airport. The restaurant is actually on the 2nd floor above the terminal. Nice dining room with tables and booths. Plenty of staff serving customers here. The shrimp tacos were an 8/10 and was a good sized portion. The rancheros cheese enchilada was also up there at an 8/10. The margarita was about a 7/10. I recommend you try this place. TVs to see the Padres take on the Dodgers this post- season.

Hadn't been here in a while so I popped in for lunch yesterday. I had the Beefsteak Ranchero and a beer. The food was good, nothing exceptional but about average. The customer service was excellent!

This is a good meeting place for a casual lunch or dinner. The dining area looks out onto the neighboring small airport's tarmac. The food is reliably good. The specials are reasonably priced. Service varies depending on the fullness of the restaurant. Servers are always welcoming and knowledgeable. They strive to help you feel comfortable and taken care of. I've been eating here for 20ish years.

This place had been a go to place for my family for decades! The Sunday brunch has always been great. Last Saturday night we went for dinner. I hadn’t been here in many years for dinner. I was surprised that they close at 9:00 PM and the latest reservation they would take was at 7:00 PM! On a Saturday night…No Bueno!! I ordered my staple dish, Chile Verde, which I can usually gauge a quality of a Mexican restaurant off of. Unfortunately, the Chile Verde at this place way under-delivered! It was bland with absolutely no heat! I even tried adding their green and red salsa to it, but still couldn’t get much flavor or heat out of it. A total disappointment. I would give the place a 1, but the other dishes we ordered were between a 3-4 quality; plus I really like the location and vibe of this place. Unfortunately, because of their hours the place was mostly empty. The owners need to get their act together, clean the place up a bit and instead of just increasing their prices, which are already high, they need to increase their hours; at least on weekends.
