Great steakhouse! We got the filet mignon with caesar salad, mac and cheese, mashed potatos, and mushrooms! Everything was really good! The salad had a great fresh dressing! The mushrooms were also incredible and the steak was very well seasoned! For dessert we got the apple tart which was incredible! Sweet and caramelly
First time that I've been inspired to review a place I some time, but this certainly restored faith in the potential of steakhouses. Probably should have ordered from the cocktail menu rather than a standard martini given the gin choices but things improved after that. Good selection of oysters from a Mexico to PNW to the East Coast. Varied and tasty accoutrements as well. Selection of American and Japanese Wagyu available, plus standard Prime cuts and bone in dry-aged options (30, 45, 60) sold by the oz. Got my 45-day ribeye rare as usual, but there are something like 8 level of "done-ess" listed so I would assume they're pretty precise with temperature control. All steak are also finished in seasoned butter, with a sauce on the side included. While I pride myself on my own steak cooking skills, the butter and dry aging really does make itself apparent in taste and texture. Meal was finished with a large slice of key lime pie, with a remarkably delicious crust. Service was also consistently excellent!
Classic high end and full service restaurant for every taste. Full bar, great wine selection and top service! Top USDA Steaks and traditional dishes are #1. Also have more exotic Wagyu if that's your choice.
This is a solid restaurant no doubt. Didn’t have any steaks but I have the impression that steaks here are great. The halibut was ok, the Chilean sea bass was great. Service is very professional. Highly recommend this place for a pleasant lunch or dinner.
Sooooo good!!! My steak was perfect & the drinks were delicious as well. The aesthetic was very classy, old school New York. Loved every bit of it!
Top 3 steakhouses in San Diego. Greatly crafted cocktails, amazing steaks with amazing steak sauces. Do yourself a favor and try it out.
Though in the center of San Diego tourism, this restaurant is exceptional. My friend and I sat outside on the patio. Our server, Dustin, was incredible. He had great hair, a great personality and keen insight about the menu. I can not say enough good things about him. He offered wonderful suggestions of things to see in the area, places to see live music, and of course his recommendations on the menu. We measure a restaurant by its service and though the food was insanely good (steak tacos and a filet Cobb), our waiter made the whole experience. Thank you Dustin!
This was our first time trying our Lou and Mickey's and, as fans of classic steakhouses in general, this place really delivered. The prices were pretty much spot on, the drinks and wine list were both comprehensive, and the food was quite flavorful and well prepared. The only issue we had was with the Calamari, but the steaks, shrimp, and sides were all delicious. Just stick to the staples and you will walk away satisfied.
A San Diego institution that I was finally able to experience. And it is definitely an experience. The atmosphere and service is unpretentious and welcoming. The dry-aged steak was unlike any steak I've had before. The wine selection was top notch. Our server was very knowledgeable and offered suggestions upon our request.
First time eating a 90 day dry aged steak. Honestly couldn't tell it apart from 40 day. If they had a 30-, 60-, 90-day aged tasting, it would be welcomed, to discover the nuisances, *hint*hint*. Was it tender? Absolutely. Was is flavorful? Definitely. I enjoyed the goat cheese appetizer but I had to request lightly toasted bread and honey which elevated the experience. The baked potato was another solid win. Would revisit in a heartbeat if ever back in town.
The food was amazing. Ir was alittle warm and I srsted fanning myself, a server opened up doors to let in the breeze. Our server was Carlton, and he was knowledgeable and very funny. I had the swordfish. But others at the table had the steak , lobster, and crab cakes. We left there full and happy.
What a great lunch visit! Trey, our server, was awesome and spot on with our service. It was lunch so not crowded. Food was perfect. Salads, steaks, seafood all prepared well. The bread appetizer was wonderful. I highly recommend that. Overall super meal and service. Very convenient just across from convention center. We look forward to retuning for dinner.
We had an excellent business lunch here while at a conference. Very flexible with the reservation. We had eight and the service was excellent! We had a few different appetizers. They were all delicious. Crab cakes, calamari, steak tips. For my main, I had the special which was risotto and a fish. It was very tasty and well prepared. Fresh and well seasoned.
20/10 this place looks and acts fancy but it's a welcoming vibe. Not gonna lie I was NOT dressed up but they welcomed me in and were SO lovely and attentive! There was a little confusion with the front door hostess who even tho it was empty kept saying you can do "silver top". It took a little clarification to work out she was telling me to sit at the bar but I asked for a table and got it. Servers lovely , quick, attentive. Food - I came for the fish and chips and it was exactly as pictured and amazing!!!! Perfect fresh made beer batter and the fish was tender and juicy. So good! I'm an Aussie so I'm fussy about fish and chips but this was worth the walk!

Great place for a fantastic well aged steak and side dishes. The service, including bartender and waiters were very professional. Highly recommend going to this location.

Excelent food and treatment by waiter Dustin. We had shrimp, clams and Top Sirloin perfectly seasoned and cooked. We’ll be back for sure.
Camera of the Super Bowl worries looking for a fantastic meal and got just that - there were 12 of us I went out and, while expensive, it was very much the best meal we had in San Diego

This place was hopping. I was glad to have made a reservation. My server was busy, but she still made me feel special. The other servers also pitched in to help each other out, great teamwork. My drink was yummy, I don't remember the name, it was a rum drink. I ordered the American Wagyu Ribeye Cap, Oscar style, with a Baked Potato. It was delicious. My steak was undercooked, but it was still delicious. I ate it. The Oscar topping, Asparagus and Lump Crab, was perfect. I was very satisfied and definitely recommend Lou & Mickey's in San Diego.
I started off with the delicious “One by Land” cocktail as well as the crab cake which was phenomenal. Probably the best I’ve ever had honestly. The reason I came was for the Wagyu. I ordered a 12 oz. medium rare eye of ribeye Wagyu steak that was good, but did not blow me away unfortunately. The flavor was well executed but it was cooked to different temperatures throughout and was smaller than I anticipated. My steak was accompanied by a thick, single slice of tomato and some arugula which was honestly odd and unnecessary. The mashed potatoes and broccolini came in big portions and both were full of flavor. I’m sure I would give this place another try, but for the marketed quality of steaks as well as the price I paid, I was really hoping to be absolutely wowed. Service overall was an 8/10 as my server was friendly but wasn’t the most attentive.
By way of our anniversary, my wife and I spent the weekend in SD's Gaslamp District. We love ordering multiple items and sharing. I love the idea of, "family style" Lou & Mickey's offer. Our food was tasty but the "wow factor" was not present. My least favorite item on the menu was the spinach. I don't normally add seasoning to my meals at restaurants but the spinach was well deserving of a pinch of salt. We chose to eat outside but was met by an overpowering stench (I'll assume it was the ocean). The overall experience and atmosphere was great! I can't wait to try other menu items.
We grabbed a seat at the bar at Lou & Mickey’s, and honestly, that’s the move. The bartender runs the show like a pro - she was fast, friendly, and with just enough personality to keep you entertained while she’s serving up cocktails that actually tastes like they should. Service was sharp, drinks were spot-on, and the whole place has that polished yet unpretentious vibe that makes you want to linger. There’s a steady hum of Gaslamp energy flowing through the room, but not in a chaotic, tourist-trap way—more like a reminder that you’re in the heart of San Diego and this is one of the neighborhood’s staples. The food? Solid. The steaks deliver, the seafood backs it up, and even the sides pull their weight. It’s not reinventing the steakhouse wheel, but it doesn’t need to—the quality speaks for itself. Prices aren’t shy, but you’re paying for the combo: good food, strong drinks, and a lively setting that always feels like an occasion. I don’t make it to Lou & Mickey’s as often as I’d like, but every time I do, I leave thinking, “yeah, that was worth it.” Whether you’re a local escaping the usual downtown scene or a visitor looking for a legit San Diego dinner, Lou & Mickey’s earns its 4 stars with ease.
Lou & Mickey’s and it lived up to the hype. I had the 45 day dry aged bone in ribeye, cooked perfectly mid rare, easily one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Sons went for the chicken strips and had the kids burger, both cleared their plates. My wife ordered coconut shrimp and sea bass, the shrimp was the clear winner, she loved it, while the sea bass was more of a 7/10. Desserts were solid, wife had key lime pie, son got chocolate mousse, and both hit the spot. Even the bread (which you have to order separately strange, but worth it) was fantastic. We sat outside, which meant seeing a few homeless folks walk by yelling or talking to themselves. It’s the Gaslamp District, so that comes with the territory, but the overall atmosphere was still great. Definitely recommend if you want a top tier steak and a lively downtown vibe.
Five stars for sure for waiter Robert! Extremely, knowledgeable, and perfectly attentive without being bothersome. A very warm and relaxing atmosphere with a great location in the gas lamp District. Be sure to order the rolls. If you like oysters, don’t hesitate ordering them! I would drive age steak, that we shared, was very good… But I must admit that I’m parcel to a thicker cut, grilled perfectly by my husband. I have to mention our fabulous dessert!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff! The food was delicious, though a little slow to arrive. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience!
expensive steak house. Old style service. Well located in downtown San Diego. Expect to pay $100 plus per person without alcohol.
Great location if using the Marina or Convention Center. Service was great. The food was good but not great. A basic steak and seafood place with little imagination. Pricey for being decent.
