Hands down the best Mexican food spot in Normal Heights. It's a nice clean place where you can dine in but it's very bare bones. You go there for the food, not the atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and try the Chicken Milanesa 👌🏽

Best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. The Machaca is a hit at this spot. So much was packed into it.

Ordered the machaca breakfast plate with the agua de piña. Good looked delicious upon arrival. Eggs and machaca were cooked good. The peopers had a slight crisp. Potatoes were slightly crispy, cooked good and not greasy. Beans were good also.In liked the corn tortillas as well. Green sauce was flavorful with a little spice. Only wish there were more salsas than offered

Our go to taco shop! The absolute best carne Asada burritos and beans are top notch. Limited parking in front with a few around back. Service is awesome!

Mauricio’s is a great joint. The menu items are all standard, straight forward items, but don’t pass this place by- super solid flavors, salsas, and size that makes Mauricio’s a great buy. Atmosphere is only 4 stars as it really is just your average corner store, but Mauricio’s packs a ton of flavor in every bite so do your stomach a favor and stop in. The small but convenient parking lot out front is also super helpful.

OMG, the food was amazing! Reminded me so much of my grandmother's cooking. Place is really super small, has outdoor seating combined pretty decent but plan accordingly. Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes that you get. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back!

Can early in the morning for a breakfast burrito. Super tasty and yum. Quick and easy and the burrito is a great size. Left very happy.

The Asada Plate is my usual, and by the photo attached, you can see they are generous with their portions. Great flavor, made to order with little wait time, and always clean in house.

We are back in town for a little bit and we had to get good Mexican food. We were in the area running errands and stopped by to get Burritos. My husband opted for a breakfast burrito and I went with a Carne asada. They offer green or red hot sauce. It's not really spicy but it adds good flavor. We sat inside but there is an outdoor patio area. She even brought our order to the table. Definitely would come back again. Portion sizing is very generous.

I spend about half of my life outside of the US in places that have nothing even close to a burrito, so when I got back in a few days ago, the first thing my wife and I did was come here. 5 stars every time.

Found this by searching shrimp taco and while I ended up going with a burrito I have NO regrets. I asked for the ingredients: cheese, peppers, onions, rice, and shrimp. I asked for no tartar sauce..and I asked to add beans but they only have beans cooked with lard so that's a no go. I got the burrito and could immediately tell this was a quality tortilla. Cut it in half and was surprised to see cheddar cheese, green peppers, and rice that looked oddly white/lime. But I took a bite and wow. This burrito was SO good. Squeezed some lime in it and ate the whole thing. Would absolutely go back again.

And I know it was basic, but it was good. It still is good! I haven't finished it yet! I also added on the potato rolled tacos as a last minute decision while ordering, and. Well. Those didn't last long. It was quick and painless, my order was 100% correct, and I got way more food than I expected for my money.

Mauricio's was our last stop on our Tuesday Taco Tour. We shared 5 mini tacos (2 chicken & 3 carnitas) and sat outside to enjoy them. We both ranked it 1st for their delicious mini tacos & awesome service.

Visited once, I got the ranchero burrito and it was very filling. It had a mix of veggies along with carne asada. Parking might be a bit difficult depending on how busy it is but it's worth a visit.

Really good California burrito. Although the wait to get it after we ordered was long. Ordered one and cut it in 1/2 for two people. One burrito, a bottle of coke and a medium horchata, $19.

Last minute decision to come here for takeout- first impressions. The service was good, I appreciated that the staff was bilingual, the wait time wasn’t too bad, especially considering there were many others also ordering takeout before me and it was near closing time, and of course the food was good as well. Wouldn’t be my first choice for Mexican food in San Diego but if I’m in the area it’s definitely what I’ll go with.

Clean, friendly, delicious, and very reasonably priced dishes are always available when you're in tbe mood for Mexican cuisine. In this "You get what you pay for" world, you are in for a treat with these well seasoned and prepared delights from south of the border. Very generous portions as well. You wont be disappointed.

I've tried the Cali burrito , carne asada burrito & carne asada chips they were all delicious, and the burritos are heavy lol. Parking lot is small ,but since ppl are always in and out of the lot your usually able to find parking. Saw they had a carne asada chimichanga , it was good, would I get it again I would probably stick to my regular grabs. So it's a chill a taco shop with good food.

This is a pretty average taco shop. There's some indoor seating, and a menu that's pretty standard. There's breakfast stuff, but only in the morning. Prices are average, staff is okay, place is clean. Most people did phone/take out. I only got a bean/rice/cheese burrito....it was a good size, pretty filling, but the ingredients are just okay flavor-wise. I got a chunky house salsa with some chips since I ate there, but there's also a red & green salsa too.

A bit too overpriced than other taco shop places around the area. Place does have seating area inside. Sign that says restrooms are only for customers. Your get a bowl of chips and salsa while you wait for your order.

I personally did not like the phone at all. It was not worth the prices. The fries were probably the only thing that was alright. The horchata was really watery, there was a good amount of sauce. But it lacked seasoning in the asada burrito, and asada fries. The young girl was really nice though.

Not bad, but nothing special, especially for what it used to be. Been going here for 10+ years, and after coming back after a year or so away, a lot seems to have changed, and not for the better. The flavor is gone and the portions are smaller, the two things that were the reasons I kept travelling the few miles past a couple other local gems. It's now just super-basic Calimex food. With a disappointing lack of salt and char that I loved them for.

Stopped by because their website mentioned plenty of vegetarian options. Their menu is wall to wall, but I was able to spot 2 total vegetarian options. Major disappointment. Burrito was hefty and tasty, I’ll give them that. But customer service was atrocious (or they’re a lil discrimmy against white folx. Hard to say ).

If you are in the mood for caldo de rez, do not order from Mauricio's. This soup had more fat than meat, poor tasting potatoes and was overall not taste worthy, very disappointing 😟☹. Mauricios's may be known for other tasteful food, but the caldo de rez is definitely not one of them.

While ordering an order of 12 roll tacos tonight for dinner, I asked if 3 could be beef and rest potatoe tacos🌮, reason being is that our youngest is autistic and very picky if he doesn't like it he won't eat, he will go hungry if not made like he likes it (will only eat beef ones). We have been coming to this taco shop for over 10 years and they know us & my son. I was even willing to pay extra 💲 if need be so that my son could be accommodated. The owner refused which was really disappointing. 😟 They already have the tacos pre-rolled all they have to do is fry them, I wasn't asking for anything extravagant. I'm so disappointed they couldn't accommodate my SPECIAL needs Child!!

My dog sat quietly the whole time and when I went to get my food, the hostess said " good bye, have a nice day" in that monotone voice that implies, get out. I almost laughed because it was petty for no reason. The transaction itself was simple and non eventful. Well anyways, there's no salt in these beans on this tostada. So I put some on myself...
