We really enjoyed our entire experience at Mothership. The cocktails are the star of a visit. They are complex and very delicious. Certainly worth returning a few times so you can taste all of them. Service was top notch. The decor and theme definitely transport you to a far off place. Just as a tiki bars were designed to do. Mothership does it in an original and fun way. We will definitely return.

We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We made reservations online and arrived much earlier. We were seated right away. The interior of the restaurant is a sight to see. The service was super friendly. We shared all but maybe 3 items from the food menu and everything was great. The portions were big enough for the three of us to share and not just a nibble or tiny bite. We had to save room for dessert- soft serve vegan ice cream. Just like everything else it was delicious. I highly recommend Mothership!

Mina was our primary bartender of the night, and she was phenomenal. She was so kind and helpful and made delicious drinks. Can’t wait to return to this aliens-meet-tiki bar down the road!

Incredible bar experience. We were in early, the other 4 patrons left shortly after we got there. Part of our standard Happy Hour Hop, sip & nibble then move on. DEFINITELY IMPRESSED!! Definite rum forward, tiki-themed cocktail list (i.e. sweet & fruity). Loads of complex recipes, and truly interesting offerings. Plus, there is an innovative kitchen attached. Parking is a bit tight, but doable. Finding the door just takes some persistence, and at least there isn't a weekly password to gain entry. Ninety minute practicable limit, given crowds and how bartender friendly you might ve able to be, on your best behavior. Hit the place not long after opening on a Tuesday. Rum Tiki Bars are at the edge of our flavor preferences, but these folks knock it out of the park. They tend to run towards long drinks. Enough noise that other folks aren't following your conversation. Comfy bar seating. As mentioned, don't miss the restroom.

Cannot recommend this bar highly enough! Especially for any sci-fi fans out there the place is dripping with atmosphere the moment you walk in, the themed drinks and menu were well done too. We went as a party of 4, they got us seated right away, wait staff were all very friendly, they had an amazing selection of rum and tropical type drinks which we all enjoyed (the strength ratings are very helpful), overall this was easily one of our favorite bars ever and we're already looking forward to coming back to San Diego to visit again.

Very nice space themed restaurant the menu was so cute. I love that it’s vegan cuisine but I do wish they had some sort of meat option. Nonetheless the vegan dishes were very delicious and well seasoned. Drink was cute and delicious. I recommend a reservation as it got super busy in the evening.

This place was incredible! As soon as we walked in we were blown away by the incredible attention to detail to the space like scenery. Our server was so friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was great for a family get together. The cocktails were “out of this world”. Definitely book in advance!

My boyfriend surprised my sister and I! We had a night on the town and this was our first spot. The ambiance was everything including the tech/space sounds playing although it would be nice if they played other music there. The decor maintained that spaceship/galaxy feel. The waiters/waitresses are fully cognizant of the menu and provided great recommendations. The drinks are marked on a level of potency which is accurate so be sure to pay attention to the top of the drink page. We had the chips then tried chips and there were so many flavors! Surprisingly the food was remarkable! It’s all vegan and we are not a vegan bunch but we would definitely be back!

First of all I want to say this place is worth checking out for the enjoyment of the decor and the overall concept, it is soooo fun!!!!! I’m rating based on my personal experience. There was reservation confusion, reservations online seemed to be booked, so I had a smaller party than I had intended. I left a note asking if we could please do a reservation for 8 (since I could only do 4) and a special note that it was my birthday. I did not receive a call or a message to confirm if the 8 could be done or not, but I suppose I should have emailed to ask, as calling is not an option. When we were seated, several tables remained opened during most of our “90 minute experience”, which is the limited amount of time you get to be there. The drinks are tiki-bar-esk and the food is more like small tapas. I was happy they had non alcoholic drink choices, and my drink was very delicious. It was however, mostly ice, as well as the drinks of the people with me. They chose the strongest drinks, and strong tasting they were. They did not taste good. The food was quite tasty, but for the prices of the drinks and the food, I was expecting a little more pizzaz, a little more wow factor, garnish, etc. You can tell there was thought put into the drinks and food, but I was expecting more. There was only one bartender at the time so drinks took a while to make. Food comes out as it’s ready. We saw our drinks sitting for 10 mins before they were brought to us. It didn’t seem that busy at all, but maybe there were things going on in the kitchen that we weren’t aware of because our server had very long stints of not checking in with us. Lastly, if you make a reservation for a birthday, do remind them in person so you can receive a birthday treat, as I did not receive one even though my reservation read birthday, so I assumed they didn’t have one. Not a big deal, just a reminder. Overall it was fun and I’m glad we went, but we probably won’t go back unless we make a friend or someone comes to visit that loves space/interplanetary themes.

This place is really fun! I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. They did a great job creating an otherworldly experience. You really do forget that you are in San Diego when you’re in here. The drinks are solid, they taste delicious, and I do appreciate that they have a meter for how strong the drink is. I also appreciate their commitment to the theme, it really makes the whole experience more immersive. The food was good and worth a try, but it would not be my first choice for dinner. I’ll definitely be coming back for the drinks and experience though!

First, if you've never been to Mothership, go. No matter about any bad reviews, go check it out. It will most likely be a "One and done" place for you. Primarily because there are limited food options and the drinks are pricey for what you get. So go in with the mindset that this is for the experience. The only time we may go back is if we have out-of-town visitors and want to do something fun. The decor and atmosphere is awesome. My only complaint is the music is way too loud. It was like club-level loud. The food was really good. My only issue with the dining part is the drinks. Our drinks were 90% ice and literally just a few sips of actual drink. The place is very small. Around 10-12 tables and 6 seats at the bar. With all this said, if you haven't been before, go.

My group of four made a reservation during the month of October for the “cocooning of the mothership”. So unassuming from the outside and once you step in you’re taken to a completely different dimension. They have absolutely nailed the immersive experience. The only thing that really takes you out of the immersive experience and kills the vibe is the manner in which the servers rush the experience. There is a 90 minute allotment which is very strict. Our server came by to ask if we wanted food multiple times even though we expressed no interest and she said that she wanted to make sure we got it in before our “halfway mark” to ensure we had time to eat and get out before their next guest. And same for drinks. We only ordered one round for that reason, otherwise we would have gotten more. Drinks were great and very unique!

I went to check out Mothership and was a little disappointed with the menu; there weren't many options, and is only vegan. I ordered fries and a drink, and it took over 20 minutes to be served. The place is understaffed. As for the space itself, it looked better in the pictures online; the place is very dark. I think it's worth visiting once, but I don't plan on going back. The part I liked most about the place was the bathroom; it's quite fun. I was shocked by the 30% tip; it's excessive. I don't think I've ever seen that anywhere else. I expected more from this experience, and I left Mothership very hungry. If you go there, I recommend eating beforehand!

🛸Beautiful Space, Disappointing Experience During our trip to San Diego, this was a restaurant we were really looking forward to, and I had high expectations for the vegan menu. However, the experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting. Due to a staff mistake, we had to wait about 40 minutes, and even after being seated, I had to call the staff myself to place our order. I wanted to order sooner, but they seemed too busy attending other tables, so we had no choice but to wait. What made it even more frustrating was that my partner had gone to fetch his ID just to get us seated, yet the server, knowing this, did not inform us about the approaching kitchen closing time or whether we could still order. Even though we tried to order before 10 PM, the kitchen was already closed, which was very surprising and disappointing. In the end, all our efforts to enjoy vegan food and drinks were in vain. Having already had great experiences at Vulture and Kindred, our expectations were high, making the disappointment even heavier. While the staff were polite, the lack of basic guidance and management ruined what could have been a special experience. I will not be returning. I do not want to go through this same disappointment again.

I’ve never felt so disrespected walking into a bar. The host/bouncer was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and clearly on some kind of power trip. Instead of doing their job with basic courtesy, they talked down to us and acted like we were an inconvenience for even being there. Think twice before coming here looking for a fun time. First impressions matter, and this one was awful. If this is how guests are treated at the door, it’s very sad…. Plenty of other bars know how to treat people with basic respect—this isn’t one of them.
