Excellent food! I am always impressed about their attention to cleanliness too. This “hole in the wall” is truly a gem and it’s a staple of the downtown food scene.
I got the suadero tacos and they were really good, the man at the counter was super nice and 3 tacos for less than 9 bucks was a great deal
Awesome food. Friendly staff. Came out piping hot. No complaints.
Easily one of the best taquerias in the area. Not a blingin, trendy vibe, but solid for flavor, size, and freshness. I've made the rounds of the gas lamp district, as I live here regularly for work. This is the best bang for buck.
Happy they’re back open again after the building finished its construction. Been coming here for the last 2 years and it’s always been a good experience with great food and the gentleman doing the cooking has ALWAYS been very friendly and expedient with getting your food to you.
Compact Mexican place with great tacos and burritos and quesadillas. We ordered a lot of food and the guy (owner) had it ready in like 10 minutes.
We were looking for a quick eats place by the Civic theater for pre show dinner, and wanted something within easy walking distance and quick. This place fit the bill. Not much of a sit down restaurant (maybe 10 seats) but food was great. Small salsa bar and reasonably priced for downtown.
You are not going to find 3 tacos this good for $7.99 anywhere else in san Diego. Very tasty deal!!
Definitely a hidden gem with an Amazing authentic menu selection. I ordered the fish tacos which were served fresh and hot off the grill and were truly some of the best I've ever eaten. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Check it out you'll be glad you did I promise.
We were staying at a hotel by the bay. I decided to walk out of my way to get a burrito and am glad I did! This is the type of place a person could easily walk by without even noticing it was there. I have a special place in my heart for Machaca burritos! This was one of the best Machaca burritos I have had hands down. The place is super small inside for a family with a stroller. I just got it to go and enjoyed it back at the hotel. Definitely recommend stopping here for breakfast, lunch and or dinner!
Best North of the border my opinion keep up the great support in San Diego for food service
Awesome spot for tacos. I don’t have a lot of taco experience but this place was amazing. Other spots had line ups out the door and this is just slightly off the beaten track so was able to get in right away. Small inside but the food was very fresh with good value.
Absolutely fire carnitas burrito. Thank you for the excellent service!
Small shop that’s easy to walk by, but don’t miss it. We had carnitas tacos, a California burrito, and my favorite machaca breakfast burrito. Outstanding flavors and don’t miss out on the pickled carrots. If you’re down town this is a cost efficient and super tasty meal. Note: no bathrooms so get extra napkins for your hands, the salsas are juicy and delicious.
Best taco I’ve ever tried, I got the carne asada one and it was gorgeous. Way better than Tacos El Gordo and the main chains.
Small hole in the wall, blink and you’ll miss it. But the staff was kind, the Breakfast burritos were big! Salsas were delicious. The place was a little warm due to the grill being by the seating area, but early morning wasn’t too much of an issue.
If you know, you know. Señor Taquero is that perfect little hole-in-the-wall spot with unreal food and prices that make you double check the receipt. Everything is packed with flavor. Service is no-frills, but that’s part of the charm. You’re here for the food — and it’s flawless.
Great little hole in the wall restaurant. Fresh, quick, made to order, the corn tortillas melt in your mouth yet don’t break apart while eating. Hot sauce and add ons tray has everything you need, mild or spicy hot. Great daily specials, three tacos $8. Very filling.
I tried this small taco place when the famous taco shop in the Gaslamp Quarter had a line going out the door on a Saturday night. I ordered adobada, carne asada and carnitas tacos and they were all delicious. This place was so good I ate here again a couple of days later and had the saudero taco special along with a adobada taco (my favorite). This place looks like it's been here a while and I can see why, definitely worth checking out
The best Mexican food I’ve ever had. I had the asada nachos and pollo tacos with a pineapple drink and it was PERFECT. The meat is cooked and seasoned perfectly, the salsas are super fresh and flavorful, and the tortillas and chips were perfect. A great little place and the staff is super awesome. I came here on the first day of my San Diego visit and I had to come back on the last day of my trip. Amazing place all around.
I highly recommend it! Awesome food and great service! I was a little unsure what to pick and asked for some help on three tacos. I did not regret it in the slightest. I am not 100% sure which one I got but the pork (I think it was the “carnitas”) definitely outplaying the other two with the shredded meat (birria?) coming in last (was still delicious as hell though). If you are in the area you definitely need to visit!
Terrific breakfast burrito — savoury with great salsas.
Super friendly service! Ordered quesadillas, fish tacos and breakfast bowl, everything was fresh and tasty. Portions are huge. Very glad that found this small place!
Simple, delicious tacos in downtown San Diego. Inexpensive, double tortilla-wrapped ingredients meant I could sample a variety of different flavors. Don't let the almost literal hole-in-the-wall feel fool you. Take out was prepared fresh and fast. Looking forward to going back.

Carnitas taco and fish taco were AMAZING!
Amazing tacos and fast service. We ordered so many different items and the service got everything right and the food was hot and delicious. If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant for a good price, this is where you want to go.
Tacos (adobado & carne asada) were SO good and do not miss the fresh salsas - cherry on top! It is a tiny spot with limited seating so take that into consideration when you visit, but you will NOT be disappointed. The carne asada sandwich was also *chef’s kiss* according to my husband
3 tacos $7.99, each one with double tortilla con carne jugosa y salsas casera. Eat in or take away. My favourite in SD. Finally real,Mexican tacos!
Fantastic Mexican food! It's not as fancy as other taco shop offering in the neighborhood, but it is a hidden gem. The carnival and asada tacos are bursting with flavor and served in a more traditional style. The menu is actually quite large - beyond tacos. There isn't a lot of room inside and it ain't fancy but it's great where it counts. Oh, and the prices can't be beat.
Excellent food. Soda machine was broken but I'm still going to give it five stars. Will come again next time I'm downtown.
Great food great price. My go-to hole in the wall authentic Mexican place.
Delicious! I visited around 10am there was a line of about 4-5 people but the orders moved quickly. I ordered the veggie burrito but forgot to specify I wanted the veggie breakfast burrito. My first bite I was suprised to find no eggs...but realized my communication error, i got a regular/lunch veggie burrito. None the less, the burrito was delicious and I ate it all. The fresh salsa bar is great. I didnt know which was which so I tried them all. The green is fresh and bright with a light kick. The darker red is slightly smokey with a bit of spice to it. The lighter red a yummy traditional salsa. the only thing I needed was a few extra napkins. Definitely more of a takeout only place. There are a few tables in a small space at the back, but everyone who ordered takeout were loitering around the tables, so it would be pretty uncomfortable to sit down and eat there.

quick service, very reasonable prices. not too much seating but there is some available. i got the steak taco special (3 for $5!) it was a little salty, but was delicious nonetheless. this little shop is perfect for a quick bite before a concert at the house of blues!
My wife and I were visiting the area and were walking around looking for something to eat and we stumbled upon this place. It's very small inside and there's a fan blowing so that's where the moderate noise comes from. We got the 2 taco plate - any 2 tacos with rice and beans. We got 3 fish tacos and 1 shrimp taco. The tacos were great. The beans were good. The rice was unimpressive. We'd eat there again and again to try all the different menu items they offer. I do recommend this place.
California Burrito Rating (15) Embarking on a quest to rank San Diego's California Burritos! Stop #15: Señor Taquero The Product: A large burrito with crispy potatoes. The crunch and flavor of the potatoes might be thanks to the cheese coating them—absolutely delicious. Adding sour cream to the filling was a nice touch, and the marinated meat was cooked well. I'd call this a California Burrito for your everyday lunch—nothing overly creative. They offer a selection of chilled sauces, which were surprisingly tasty. The cost is around $14, which is about average for the city. 08 out of 10 Service: Minimal but friendly interaction. 06 out of 10 Atmosphere: The interior features some elements of Mexican culture, but they don’t quite create a cohesive vibe. With just six people in the dining area, it already felt cramped. 06 out of 10
Rating 4 stars for value but food is 3 star without value perspective. This no-frills taco shop does the job for a quick, cheap, easy taco. One of the better values if cost/value is focus. I had the Carnitas taco and added some verde with pico. Carnitas was well done but average for the style.

I wish there was consistency. The first time I came, the food was really good so I decided to come back. Then I was disappointed. It wasn't as good anymore. It was really sad. I was expecting the same good taste. My visits were about a month apart so I expected the same consistency on the food. Price is pretty reasonable at least.
Solid (& borderline authentic) downtown SD taco place. Had lengua, tripa, and suadero. Salsa is not very spicy, though. The place can accommodate ~8 people for dining in.

Usually I like this place but this last time I went I got carne asada fries with french fries that were obviously fried more then once. Every single fry could crumble like in my photo. No fry had any moisture at all. Places that cut corners like that for something as cheap as potatoes make me wonder what kind of corners they are cutting for ingredients more expensive.
