One of the rare places serving late-night snacks that aren’t tacos or fast food. I’ve come here a few times with friends and always had a good time. A-choy is a real hit 😄 I didn’t expect grilled lettuce to taste that good. The tofu with century egg, however, is not recommended. There are a lot of warning signs at the front of the shop 😂 It feels a bit serious at first, but I guess it’s good to make everything clear in advance. One funny note, my husband got a little dizzy from looking at the spinning wall.
Great food and atmosphere. Must visit on the weekend to get full experience.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Xinjiang BBQ, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere that set the tone for the evening. The menu offers an impressive variety of dishes, each bursting with authentic flavors and spices that transport you straight to Xinjiang. What truly sets Xinjiang BBQ apart is their commitment to quality and authenticity. Every dish is prepared with care, using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods that honor the rich culinary heritage of the region. The service was impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend Xinjiang BBQ to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. It’s a gem that brings the vibrant and diverse flavors of Xinjiang to life. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their delicious offerings!
Food was great, service was great and it was a fun dining experience. Would recommend.
Very interesting place, that particular location has gone through quite a few restaurants. This restaurant complete redone the inside, so it looks VERY sleep. The pricing is good, the meats (Beef tongue, chicken, and beef) were amazing. Service was quick and simple. I'm definitely coming back here, and recommend you give it a try!
Cool atmosphere, tasty food and good service. We are a family of 5. You order your food from your phone and they serve it to you. They have a variety of skewers. Such as beef, chicken, lamb, vegetables and seafood. They offer combo if you are having a hard time deciding. The $88 value combo serves 2-3 people. It comes with 2 rice, 2 sodas, spicy grilled fish, choice of appetizer, 2 signature skewers, choice of 4 bbq skewers, and dessert. We ordered 2 more skewers, and ordered more rice. It more than satisfied us and we had leftovers. We requested that they items were not spicy. The fish was soft, seasoned well, and had a good amount of vegetables. The signature skewers are beef and lamb. For the bbq skewers we choose intestine, pork belly, chicken and chicken skin. Everything tasted great! Inside: There is a projection all across the walls of different scenery. They have a screen with music videos. Tables have benches and some have pillows. Parking: Tons of free parking! Overall we will continue to dine here!
9:50 pm it's got a nice mood. Nice and mellow. Beautiful projected backgrounds on the walls which cycle. Delicious foods! The lamb skewers and beef skewers are great but the mushroom enoki skewers stole the show! Added a correction plate to split with my wife and it made a nice night out. Also the tentacle always were great!
We're thrilled to have discovered an incredible BBQ joint in SD! We indulged in mouth-watering beef kabab, lamb kabab, chicken Gristle, Quail eggs, and more - all of which were expertly prepared and generously portioned. While the service could use some refinement during their soft opening, the ambiance is a standout feature, thanks to a stunning LED projector wall. We wholeheartedly recommend this spot and can't wait to return for another meaty feast. You won't want to miss out on this true meat paradise!
I recently visited Xinjiang BBQ, and it was a fantastic experience! The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a casual night out with friends or family. The staff was friendly and attentive, offering great recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed. Food: The menu offers a wide selection of skewers, from classic lamb and chicken to more unique options like grilled prawns and vegetables. The skewers were all grilled to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. The highlight for me was the lamb skewers, which were seasoned just right and had that authentic smoky taste that’s hard to beat. The restaurant also serves some great side dishes, like refreshing cucumber salad and crispy flatbread, which complemented the BBQ perfectly. Their homemade dipping sauces were excellent and added an extra layer of flavor to the skewers. If you’re a fan of spicy food, definitely
DELICIOUS! I’ve spent lots of time in Beijing, and have been looking for some 羊肉串儿 - loved this spot and really strong showing. We got a couple items: lamb, beef tongue, beef, mushroom, fried chicken skin, and mushrooms. Also, got oysters and eggplant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the beef, lamb, and fried chicken skin. The beef is cooked beautifully, the fried chicken skin is an absolute snack; the lamb was less fatty than the streets of Beijing, but the taste otherwise was on point (especially with cumin available on the side)! Atmosphere is like a karaoke bar, screens everywhere, and Mandarin songs playing. Totally a vibe and a fun + unique vibe! Would really recommend for groups, especially if you’re looking for a fun meal, good vibes, drinks, and - of course - great food!
Loved Xinjiang BBQ! The ambiance is lively with wall projections and great tunes, setting the perfect scene for indulging in their incredible Chinese skewer BBQ. The skewers were flavorful and expertly cooked. Plus, the service was welcoming and efficient. A must-try spot for a memorable dining experience. Can't wait to go back!
When I saw this place, I was hoping it was related to the restaurant of the same name in Monterey Park. Im so happy it ended up being the same restaurant, and turned out to even be the same great employees working there from when I used to go to the Monterey Park location in 2019-2021 The food is just as I remembered it, maybe even better than I remember it to be. I used to order take out very often at the other location, and it's nice to see it in SD. The service was great as usual, and I wish I lived closer, I'd go all the time. Open a location in Vegas if you can please, it sucks living so far away :( I've been to many skewer places that serve it in a similar style, but nowhere else has it been as tasty, consistent, and affordable as Xinjiang BBQ. I dont know how but their chicken skin is always perfect
My 2nd time dining in, (3rd if you count a delivery). Skewers are great not only in price but in quality and amount of meat. I didn't know they have a special on Saturday lamb skewer for $1.50 each! My friend her first time here she said 12/10 and she wants to come back. The scenery is beautiful and yes I said scenery, the vibes are great and staff is awesome!
This place opens late night, but to my surprise, it is actually perfect for kids due to all their projectors on the walls and the floors. My little ones had so much fun! The music is not super loud. The food was not bad. We got a bunch of skewers. Our kids shared some steamed buns and the lamb noodles. Service was awesome. I 100% approved. I really enjoyed their oysters and steam buns. My husband liked their spicy clams.
The vibes are amazing. I’m so glad this exist. Wonderful lighting. Great music and delicious food. The tongue is tender and juicy. The lamb is tender and cooked with a nice spice. The oysters are a garlic dream with a hint of spice. Everything I tasted was amazing and appreciate its more natural flavors and spices than a sauce.
It's so refreshing to see an almost authentic northern Chinese BBQ place. Granted I spent most of my American life in the Midwest so it's not that difficult to impress me. Still, after a long day of museum hopping my family stumbled upon this gem thanks to some random Google suggestion (I was not searching for Chinese or BBQ at all). My family, 2 real Chinese and 2 ABCs absolutely chowed down everything we ordered, ranging from the lamb skewers (mind you my kids rarely liked lamb before this), grilled eggplant, "tiny crispy pork", to chow mien. We also had chicken gizzards and meat-n-bone skewers. All to almost perfection! The only nitpick I can give is that some of the meats are on the (too) sweet side for my taste bud. Oh the decor is pretty trippy here. I absolutely love it! Reminds me of some of those karaoke places in Asia.
10/10. I’m so glad I finally found a chinese skewers place in San Diego with just the right food, right vibe, and right price!! The atmosphere is like a chill lounge/karaoke club. The variety of food is great, the drinks are good. The waiters are so so friendly, and they are very patience with you even though there is a slight language barrier. 100% recommend for a late night out.
It is amazing that we still have something open this late. The food is amazing and very affordable. Must order the lamb skewers during their happy hours! Its fatty and it tastes good. Table is big and wide and it's very crowded on a Friday night because people drink here. It is definitely worth the try.
Definitely best Chinese grill in San Diego. The prices are lovely. Be aware of the spicy level. I love spicy food so it amazed me. Been told that they will have drinks available by next month. I will bring some friends to come back!
Ordered sweet and sour dee fried potato fries, lamb congee, golden pancakes, fried milk dessert, and lots of various skewers. Funny enough, the BBQ stuff is quite average and not the standout (certain skewers like the chicken wings and chives were great). The golden pancakes turned out to be deep fried potatoes with sugar spread on top. Was a massive hit with everybody. The sweet and sour potatoes were cooked the same way so that was an unwelcome overlap. The congee was great as well.
Chinese bbq skewer place, Mala seasoning IYKYK. This is a soft opening review. Food came out in a timely manner. Food was delicious I like the lamb skewers. They don't have beer yet, the server told us that they will have the license next month. But beer will be good with this type of cuisine. Inside is nice, the atmosphere is like a karaoke lounge. I will return to try this place again.
Highly recommend this location for all your late night cravings. They are opened till past mid night! Hardly any sit down restaurant is even open past 10 pm. Best part is that they have discounts past 8 pm on lamb skewers!? Plenty of seating and very cool projectors with a light show on the walls
A Xinjiang barbecue spot that my friends have been recommending is located to the right of Shunfa Supermarket. The interior is uniquely decorated, resembling both a KTV and an immersive light-dining restaurant. The ceiling is adorned with colorful light fixtures, and the walls feature various scenes projected by projectors. Combined with popular Chinese music playing in the background, enjoying skewers dipped in their special sauce brings an instant wave of happiness—it truly feels like having barbecue on a night out back in China. Ordering is convenient, as you can simply scan a QR code to place your order. Recently, they’ve been running a promotion where lamb skewers are only $1.25 each for orders settled after 10 pm, offering great value for money. The staff also provide excellent service. I’m already planning to go back next time to try their grilled fish!
Karaoke restaurant vibe but apparently they stopped doing karaoke. Food was decent. Skewer meats were tasty from the sauce but meat quality was so so. Fried tofu was good but lacking salt. Sesame cucumber was also good but pretty ordinary dish. Overall, I was there because there was no wait at 6pm on a Friday night. Service was great!
Newly opened Xinjiang BBQ is located in Linda Vista next to the Thuan Phat Supermarket. I was very pleased with my experience here during their soft opening! Ambiance: Our party of 4 got seated right away at 7pm on a Sunday and there’s a lot of parking available. There are several 4-6 person tables and one big circle table that seems to fit 10ish people, so good for 1 large group. Every table has a TV that plays music. I love the ambiance and decoration in this place! Lots of animations on the walls surrounding the tables. The entrance is pretty cool! Service: You scan the QR code which leads you to where you order for the whole table. Food came out in waves and came out pretty quickly. Our servers, Yao and Aaron, were fantastic! It was our friend’s birthday and they served her a plate of sliced oranges with a candle and sang— very cute! Food: We ordered a lot and truthfully, there wasn’t anything that I didn’t like! I would say the *must orders* are: -Beef Kabab ($6.99): 4 skewers -Chicken Skin Crispy ($5.99): 4 skewers -Chow Mein ($9.99): size was good enough to share with our party -Scallop with Garlic Sauce ($13.99): 5 pieces -Beef Rolls ($9.99)- 2 rolls cut in 8 total pieces *Ask for their spicy dry powder to dip the food in! Overall: It’s still during their soft opening so they’re still trying to work out some kinks like waiting for their liquor license. We had such a great experience and I cannot wait for the grand opening! This place has a lot of potential for some fun nights as they close at 3am. We will definitely be back!
The vibe is cool. I just didn't want to eat anything more. bad- scallop, gizzard, chicken skin, and especially the chow mein. good- beef and lamb. Okay - cucumber salad, pork belly
The food price and selection was great. Vaste menu and good costs. The main issue with the food was EVERYTHING TASTED THE SAME. I ordered shrimp, chicken, veggies, mushrooms, pork belly ect, bunch of stuff. All of it tasted like Cumin, no flavor varieties. Also no sauce? Everything was this Cumin dry rub. It also took an hour when ETA originally was 20 min but they gave 10% because. Atmosphere was awesome though it was cool inside. Prob go again but just for chow mein and chicken wings.
It was definitely different… still not sure how I feel about it. My husband enjoyed the food more than I did. We ordered the chicken, beef, and lamb, but I personally wasn’t a fan of the meats. However, me and my kids really liked the chow mein—it was a hit! Honestly, we should’ve just ordered two plates of that and shared. The vibe of the place was cute, and I liked how they played music videos on a projector, giving the whole spot a fun, energetic feel. Ordering is done through your phone, which was convenient. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I don’t think I’d go back.
The food was bad. The beef tripe was 10/10 numbing, not edible. Lamb skewer? Is it really lamb. I eat lamb regularly and these tasted off. The spicy clams? Omg so bad the seasoning. The old fashion American Chinese seasoning. Cajun seafood seasoning or real Chinese seasoning would be so much better. I spent $40 for dinner take out and ended up having to order ramen after this. First and last. This is the first restaurant with such high rating at 4.9, but it’s actually generous for it to have more than 3.0
Was really excited to try this spot out, but was disappointed. You must scan a qr code and enter a code on a TV at your table to begin your order. Your entire order will be completed on your cell phone. Zero interaction with the server unless you ask for anything.Food came in a reasonable time, but each skewer was overly salted and tasted oily/greasy almost as if the oil wasn't to toAhot enough for fried items, and also charr in the grilled dishes, which also tasted oily. Enjoyeyed the cucumber and garlic salad despite the poor chopping of the cucumber which wasn't cut all the way through. Pitcher of beer was served with a 12oz plastic cup. My first time, Who knows maybe it was just the Monday shift...
Too confusing. Menu is accessed by QR code. Drinks were served in small plastic picnic cups; water served from a plastic food container/ no pitcher. Very dark lighting. Food was mediocre...I will not return.
This restaurant is terrible! I ordered the lamb noodle soup here and was very disappointed. The meat was clearly not fresh – it contained a lot of fatty pieces, and it seemed like heavy seasoning (such as huge volume of sesame oil) was used to cover up the lack of freshness. After eating, I experienced stomach upset/diarrhea. This was not acceptable food quality and raised serious food safety concerns. I will definitely report this to San Diego food safety and other related government departments!
