We had lunch and all was very good, ordering at the bar is a bit special and bred should be more Italian in a Italian restaurant,
Great service! Very attentive & respectful. You come in order first then pick where you want to sit. Oysters were DELICIOUS! They are clean and already in a salt water just add lemon & tapatio! We spent about $130 for 3 of us and shared everything to try it. We ordered... Whole crab - 8/10 came with a lot of meat on it and in a buttery sauce, so delicious, but it could have been a little more flavorful. Oysters -10/10 MUST TRY!! Calamari - 8/10 Breading was crispy & flavorful (eat it fresh) Clam chowder - 7.5/10 it was delicious, had a buttery taste Half shrimp/fish & chips - 9/10 FRIES ARE SOOO GOOD & CRISPY! Shrimp & fish was good breading was delicious & crispy! Overall it was a great experience/atmosphere & good food! Definitely recommend and would come back! 💯
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It wasn't crazy busy. Food was good. Mimosas were good. Music was great. We came here our first day on San Fransisco as well as our last day to kill time until we headed back to the airport. Give it a try.
Very family oriented welcome style... Great tasting food to your palabar... Great daily special.... Awesome drinks.. Great raw oysters
Every employee + owner was incredibly friendly, engaging and helpful. The food was great. Thanks!
Great place, my father and I supplied their produce when called Franceschi's restaurant in the 90's but we would deliver great quality to any restaurant especially cugini in San Francisco.
It had only just opened so we were first in. Barman very friendly and extremely helpful in selecting our choices of food. Food was excellent, good atmosphere, lovely locals and we felt much refreshed and ready to face the incessant rain again!! As a bonus, the barman gave us some spare muscles which went down a treat.
Great quality food and the Ciopinno seafood plate wont disappoint.great meal + glass of beer for me and wine for the wife $98. The sugo had plenty of flavor and was one of best we have experienced. We were along way from home and liked the Italian theme that made us feel right at home. The restaurant was full at 6pm on a Friday night so get in before that to avoid a wait.
We went here for a wedding reception. I was impressed with the furnishings and decor. The food that was served was excellent. The vistas from the venue were excellent, and the staff was top notch.I could not think of a better place to have a reception.
Can't fault this place. Been twice. Reasonable prices and delicious food. The red chowder is particularly good. The decor is relaxed cafe/restaurant style. The food is traditional seafood with an Italian edge. Staff are friendly and welcoming. It beats a lot of the more expensive places around Fisherman's Wharf for value and atmosphere.
I love these old establishments that can maintain relevance in the modern world. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be as busy as Applebees on a Friday night. The food and drinks were fantastic and the staff was warm and inviting. These businesses are keys to a city and need to be maintained and supported.
Experience was odd for what I thought was a high end seafood restaurant, but what I learned is Capurros was more like a European seaside shack with amazing food. You order at the counter, have a seat and they bring it to you, the choices where not extensive but every dish we had was spot on. Fish n Chips was cooked perfectly, the salmon wasn't fishy at all and had a floral favor and the grilled fish tacos was great. Chowder was very good but not the best in San Francisco, I would say the salmon and fish n chips was the best we had within 20 miles. Was cold enough you can see the steam come off the chowders.
We went here on a whim and were glad we did. I enjoyed my oysters and chowder, and my wife loved her pasta. The oysters were especially good, and I recommend getting the oysters stuffed with the Italian seasoning. The service was good, and our server was very friendly, if not bubbly. I want to return to this restaurant some day soon. It was just overall a great experience.
Absolutely loved this place, right on the water across from Ghirardelli Square area. You order upon entering the restaurant and then you find your own table and they bring out your food to you. We were there the middle of March and not busy at all. The food was quite wonderful and we would definitely go there again. Having said that, there are SO many wonderful restaurants in San Francisco and it might take a while (if I lived there) to explore them all. Highly recommend.
We got clamp chowder in a bread bowl and roasted oyster. Dad loved the oysters and I had to order a second bowl of chowder. The owner greeted us as we came in and the staff was friendly. Order prior to open seating and food is brought out in a reasonable time. Reasonable priced especially considering the location
Wow, wow, WOW!! The best choice I made to walk down Jefferson street and discover this gem of a restaurant! Eddie, the barman, is an absolute star and a fantastic host. The food was delicious! Tender fried calamari and a bowl of fresh mussels is what he recommended and I could not agree more. Great value for money! Great oldies atmosphere! Great place to dine. I can highly recommend this diner to anyone that loves quality seafood! Keep up the good work Eddie and compliments to the chef.
Atmosphere, service and the quality of food were fantastic. The dining area is loaded with 'eye catching' decor. The menu has tons of options specializing in seafood. However, you can also get a grilled burger and crispy fries or a tasty pizza as well. We ordered (2) two Crab dinners which came with a Spring Mix Salad and a delicious cup of Clam Chowder. To compliment our dining experience we ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo which really impressed us and chocolate cake for dessert. Highly recommend this place.. A bit pricey, but for a special occasion it's worth the extra buck.
Family owned business. We ordered clam chowder, fish and chips and a clam pizza. Food was good. We sat outside since we had a large group. Parking is limited in the rear, but there is a parking garage walking distance. Indoor/Outdoor seating available. Owner came out and spoke with everyone who had sat down to eat.
We had dinner at this place was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food. Despite being a random choice, it turned out to be a delightful experience. The clam pasta was a standout dish, served hot on a plate that enhanced its flavors. Each bite was a perfect blend of freshness and warmth. The sourdough was equally impressive, boasting a freshly baked taste that made it a perfect accompaniment to the meal. If you're in search of home-style pasta that delivers both comfort and quality, I highly recommend this restaurant. It truly is a hidden gem worth visiting!
First time here. Food was fresh and delicious. The patio is a great place to eat, catch sun and relax
We were intrigued by the outside, when searching we found they state they are a sustainable restaurant. We went in. I ordered a whole crab ($mk) and my husband a clam chowder. For dessert a cannoli. The crab was excellent, fresh and a good size. My husband liked the chowder very much. I will come back to try other dishes
Last Thursday night (19 Feb 25) my wife and I ate dinner here and it was delicious. The service was great but you have to order at the front counter and they bring it out to you when it’s ready. We ordered drinks and my wife’s margarita tasted great but Long Island Tea had a little too much cola and not enough sour mix for my taste. I got the blackened salmon and my wife got the red snapper. They both tasted amazing and were perfectly cooked. The sides were huge and hindsight 20/20 we should probably have shared them. The owner came around to all the tables to check on his customers and stayed with us a couple of minutes making sure we were taken care of. Wonderful care good Sir and keep up that culture of hospitality! Cheers From Chattanooga, TN.
So many items under 10$ The best restaurant in all of San Francisco. The best seafood. Like the crab arancine was loaded with crab. Oyster same-day fresh under 3$. Chowder was hearty. Mussels steamers 10$ fish and chips and so many other items under 14$. Great service, very respectful. Very clean!!! Awesome restraunt.
Capurro's is absolutely incredible! The oysters are so delicious and always the best priced in town. The owner Paul came over and had a lovely chat with us and it just made the whole experience something to remember. We can't wait to be back to visit again. We will always come back to this restaurant.
I stayed at the Argonaut across the street and decided to wander over to Cappurro's for dinner. Delightful! Nice people, great service, owner (Paul) came out to meet me. What a great guy! Warm atmosphere and great food. Clam Chowder, ravioli, fish tacos, all of it was phenomenal. As a bonus they put the Steelers game on for me at the bar!
We stopped by for lunch at this place and the food was very good. You place your order up front and then they will bring it to you. I had the special that day, which was blackened fish and the cannellini bean medley. It was light and refreshing and made for a great lunch bite. My wife had the pesto gnocchi and it was rich and flavorful. I really enjoyed the roasted oysters and wished I had ordered more of them. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching as we ate.
The owner was here and was so friendly! He’s the 4th generation owner, which you don’t see every day! The staff came over and checked in on us frequently even though it’s a self seated restaurant! I got the clam chowder bread bowl and it was phenomenal, the perfect portion of soup. Plus the bread topper was toasted with butter and such a great addition! I took a bite so fast!
Stopped in for dinner and I am so glad we did! The restaurant itself was not loud at all and had a charmingly kitsch atmosphere, exactly what we wanted after a very busy day. The food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. No pictures of the risotto arancine, which was so pretty and tasty that we devoured it immediately, but the cheesy sourdough and the pesto gnocchi were phenomenal too. Gnocchi can be a bit stodgy, but not here! These were very soft and almost fluffy. We don't usually stop at the same restaurant twice on vacation, but we may have to make an exception for this one. Thank you for a great meal!
Great atmosphere in a restaurant with history. It's well-maintained and features classic American-Italian style. Had a nice conversation with the owner/manager. Be prepared for a prepay system; you need to order all your food and drinks and take all your beers with you at once. Kids menu available as well as icecream.
5 stars! The clam chowder bread bowl was SO flavorful! And a cup of it here is cheaper than at the pier where it's crowded and there's nowhere to sit! This place is so beautiful with all the Colorful decor! The had indoor and fun outdoor patio seating. The fish and chips was great. I got the kids meal and it was plenty! And the fries were so hot and fresh we had to let them cool down! I SO appreciate some fresh hot fries! The booths were cozy and everything felt clean. Staff was friendly. ***If you liked my review or found it to be helpful give it a thumbs up. 👍 thanks!

crab and ravioli were delicious, my husband had sand dabs and his dish was tasty too! Great service, very attentive. Great Old school Italian decor. Great table and able to talk to each other.
Super good. Bread bowl of clam chowder was awesome and the chicken parmesan was worth the money for the size of it. Great environment and the staff was very attentive.

Great fresh food, super friendly service and reasonably priced, highly recommend. Clean tidy restrooms and nice stocked bar!
Had fresh snapper, blackened, with a lemon butter caper sauce over split cherry tomatoes. It was absolutely delicious! My drink was an Aperol Spritz. Both were very reasonably priced.

The wine sauce had no wine and no salt so that was a bummer for my husband. They did substitute muscles instead of clams in the dish he ordered though. The fish and chips was really good. There really was no service we paid at the bar before the meal and there were no drink refills. I don't know if that's typical or the way it works.
Basic but good restaurant, nothing wrong with basic! I got the shrimp and chips basket, which were very good! Got a glass of wine for $9 but it wasn't even half a glass, my husband got a bloody Mary that was very so so, they didn't add any garnishes or extras with it like a celery stick, olives, or pepper and that was $12. The staff were very nice and the food was good.
We had the groupon coupon for two crabs and dessert and they were delicious. So meaty. Also we purchased the calamari which were also delicious. The only think that is keeping me from giving my experience a 5 star is the customer service. We had a reservation and arrived on time and spent 15 minutes standing at the front waiting to even be acknowledged. Then they took a long time to even come to our table to refill our drinks. We got there at 7pm and didn't get our check until 9pm at that time they were not even busy there was only two tables other than ours. Food was delicious but service sucked.
We had lunch and everything was delicious. The staff kept our drinks filled and everything was clean. I had shrimp salad and it was amazing. My daughter had the gnocchi pesto and was also delicious. My son had the pepperoni pizza and he thought it was good, although he did say it was a little greasy on top, but taste good. Very nice atmosphere and service was great.
Dinner here on a tourist visit to San Francisco. Less busy here than the places on Pier 39. No waitress service at the tables... you order at the bar and they give you a number for your table then bring your food out. No wait to order, but we were on the 5pm early side. Not a long wait for the food. Clam chowder was very good. Chicken fettuccine was very good, tasty creamy cheese, and the homemade pasta was fantastic. Seating was not crowded, but some big families with loud kids was a bit annoying. Expensive like the rest of this tourist trap area.
The food was great. The garlic fries are AMAZING! I will definitely be coming back. Only wish the service was a little better. I was in need of a refill and my server was in the back on her phone. Couldn't get her attention for about 5 minutes (not exaggerating) when she finally decided to look up she came to our table and refilled our cups. Other than that everything was great.
Nice ambience with views. Good service and welcoming owner at the entrance. Lively lovely surroundings at the pier as usual. Crispy Fries with Garlic Truffle was little greasy due to the Garlic Truffle but well done. Clam Chowder can be better. Not the best of the chowders out there. Veggie Pizza tasted good. Bread was fresh and the crust wasn’t thick.
Old-established fish restaurant on Hyde Street Pier. The menu is well laid out. The prices are, as everywhere in San Francisco, above average. You order at the bar at the entrance. You are then given a number and the food is brought to your table. My fish & chips tasted good. The team was also very friendly.
Visiting San Francisco and we’re so excited for good seafood. Went on a Thursday at about 4 pm and the place was basically empty. Ordered at the counter and they delivered the food to our table. The food was good and fresh, not the very best we’ve eaten but the portions were good and we’d go back for a quick bite.

Two of us had gnocchi which was very nice, one had the meatballs that where rather average. Overall good and drinks where nice
Capurro's has a beautiful ambience and attentive staff, unfortunately their seafood offering is just not very good. We had a Groupon deal which consisted of a soup or salad ( we chose the soup - clam chowder), wood over crab, and a chocolate cake. All of the dishes fail to impress, even the signature crab which was substantial in portion but was either a little overcooked or not very fresh. Even with Groupon, the bill was expensive. Despite its beautiful decor, I would say it's overpriced for what it has to offer.
First I'll say the snapper I ordered had a ton of flavor but it didn't come w a side. My girlfriend enjoyed her bread bowl. But ordering everything at the bar including getting water and napkins isn't very accommodating. They're we're only 3 tables sitting so it wasn't necessary. But like I said food was tasty.
This restaurant stands out on the strip due to its vibrant and distinctive facade. The concept is owned by an Italian family and been there sincr 1946. They make homemade pasta which is amazing, I tried the crab cake and the salmon linguini which were not bad at all. It's a bit pricey though which i believe is the case everywhere in the city especially on that strip, we were two persons and paid $75 for 2 main dishes an appetizer and water which frankly I would only pay $45 max
The atmosphere of this place was nice. You order at the counter and they bring you your food, prices were a little steep for that and it felt like it should be a full service sit down restaurant. The food was average. I had seafood fettuccine and it wasn't bad, but it very much tasted like fettuccine with salmon added to the top after the fact. The food didn't feel like anything special.
So I gave the service 2 stars bc, we have to order at the bar before we sit down. They bring you the food and check on you once in the beginning of the meal and then never checks up on you again. Also, sandwiches or main entrée do not come with sides...The pasta I order was good because they make the pasta in house... everything was okay. But the decor of the place is cool, it's got alot history.
The restaurant used to be delicious. Unfortunately, the times have been very challenging. You had to order at the bar and the food was brought to you. I tried the Cioppino with crab. The crab…
I cannot speak for anything else on the menu as I only had a beer and oysters. DO NOT ORDER THE OYSTERS, unless you like drinking saltwater. Literally all you taste is salt. They had no horseradish, and the lemon did nothing for the state of them. Please do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant if you are craving oysters on the wharf. Service was fine.
IG: eatgosee This was somewhat of an astonishing experience. But before we get to that let’s set the scene. This is a large restaurants positions firmly on the waterfront with a view looking out into the bay. It has a very vibrant decor with a clear Fishermans, nautical theme. It is placed on a very busy thoroughfare in a touristy and popular area of San Francisco. Needless to say it is the type of area where you would expect to see a lot of people milling around, walking by and therefore for traffic coming into this restaurant. We came here once for lunch but I walked past it several times in the days following. HIGHLIGHTS: - Location as there is plenty of good atmosphere if you’re sitting outside. The inside is very bright and something closer to a Disney meets theme restaurant. DIVIDED: - Half of the group had the red snapper dish which I understand was quite good but admittedly did not try myself. The house rose that we drank was also perfectly drinkable and if you came here to only have a bottle of rosé while sitting outside and watching the world go by, you would probably have quite a good experience. LOWLIGHTS: - SERVICE. This is where the tipping culture in the United States really drives the wrong behaviour. I’ll wait I got the order wrong, the food arrived five minutes before the wind it (which is in excusable given one thing requires cooking and the other thing requires simply picking up on pouring), it took forever to get waiters to come see us. Not with standing the fact that this is a large restaurant it is also at the time that we were here only about 20% full during lunch in the middle of the week. i’m not entirely sure why as paying guests we need to pay even the minimum culturally acceptable amount of service charge for an experience that frankly was inferior to whether I got up and went to the bar and into the kitchen to retrieve the things that I ordered. - Clam chowder bowl: Admittedly this is not the kind of food that I particularly enjoy but, when in Rome, we decided to have the Klamm chowder because it felt like the right thing to do and also because it was recommended someone strongly from the waiter. The soup was floury, it arrived in a bread bowl which I know is customary but borders on pointless given that nobody eats the bread bowl (three of the tables around us did the same thing and I noticed that they did not eat at either - it seems like a waste of bread). It arrived with a side salad which is not presented in any particularly attractive way and looking through the leaves some of them appear to be old and not picked through by the kitchen. Should I come here again? Hopefully not. And then here I suspect lies the issue. As this restaurant is positioned on a popular thoroughfare, I question how many returning guests actually come back to this place. It does not seem fair to call this a tourist trap but it is not far away from that. There are a lot of very basic and elementary mistakes systematically made here that requires thoughtful attention. If there is as much effort was put into the food and service as it has into the decor then this could be a very good place with lines around the corner. After all this is a city where people do lineup around the corner to get into a good restaurant but, as mentioned, this place was only 20% full during lunchtime on a sunny day in a touristy area which makes me ask questions.
Food was ok. But service was terrible. They had us order our drinks and food at the bar and pay. They then told to select a table. They brought the food when ready but that was it as far as service…

I came here while visiting San Francisco. Huge mistake! Do not come here! The old lady who seats people is rude. And the "margarita pizza" was horrible. It was so greasy and tasted frozen. Plus it was $7! Dominos and little Caesar is better! Also there is MOLD in the cheese!!! The parmesan cheese on tables is full of mold. We told the lady and she was mad at us and snatched it out of his hand. Next time we'll be extra loud and announce it to the entire bar area! Talk about the worst place ever. Don't waste your money! Go somewhere else!!! You've been warned. Should've know since it was empty on a happy hour during a Saturday night!!! Ewwww!! Horrible!
I was trying this place with my son to see how it is. I was told 10 minutes or more waiting time. It was 33 minutes actually. Was finally sat down and waited another 10 minutes to see who our waiter was. No water, no I'll be right with you. It was busy but there was no organization at all of the waitstaff. No one seemed to have a designated station. And at one point, I noticed there a person who seemed like a waiter just walking around without a purpose. Finally, our waiter came and I immediately ordered two pizzas. That came out a little late but not too bad. The food: First, they brought out sliced day-old bread with butter. The pepperoni pizza: The crust was good but the pizza was greasy and very salty, more than normal for pepperoni. Our waiter never came back. I asked another waitstaff for check and I had to call several waiters so they could take my credit card. Finally, our waiter came back and rung us up. The decor: It is very antiquated and some of the chairs were cheap plastic patio chairs. And the restaurant had a distinct odor of stale beer. Overall: This is more of a bar with overpriced bar food. Do not expect more than that. Waitstaff is very inexperienced and the person who seemed to be the manager managed nothing. And I'm still laughing at the sliced bread they served. I was shaking my head. Caveat emptor!!!
When you walk into the restaurant looks really nice and feels good, the waiter has the option to either let you order at the bar and you pay for it right away and get your drinks yourself from the bartender and then go seat yourself with your drinks that you just got from the bartender and sit yourself at a table that you like and wait for your food that you order at the bar.The other option is the waiter has the option to sit you down like any other normal walk-in restaurant and take your order and go get your drinks for you an then take your order however it doesn't work like that here at this restaurant they get to discriminate and choose who they want to do that with and the food was cold and way overpriced. They leave hair accidentally left in your food. Terrible experience i honestly was desperate for a places to sit down and eat in that’s how ended up here.I would look somewhere else like In-N-Out Burger even if you have to wait in line that would be way better than what this restaurant had to offer or even Taco Bell.Good luck! hope this review helped you out
