Great bar with darts, pool table, ping pong and outside seating. Cool place to hang with a group; the outside lighting was a nice touch to the atmosphere Great bar with darts, pool table, ping pong and outside seating. Great bar. Awesome staff. If you're looking to make a bar your regular spot ^^ Annette is a tried and true SF bartender with the best cocktail skills
The blood orange wheat beer here is one of the tastiest and most amazing beers you will ever have. Mimosas were pretty delicious too.
Neighbourhood bar. Great bartenders.Friendly regulars. Nice backyard. TV sports. All welcome.
Been there about a dozen times. Enjoyed a lock in, the craik with the owners and one of their brothers, the celebration of Irish folk on the walls and library, and the musicians that come play there.
Finnegans was the first bar I went to after moving to San Francisco. To say I immediately fell in love with it would be a lie--however, due to the location of where I was living Finnegans quickly became the bar my friends and I frequented. It became "our bar". After way too many evenings at Finnegans I can tell you exactly what to expect: 1. Friendly bar staff--always willing to chat, will remember you 2. Atmosphere is typical dive bar--dark and a bit grungy HOWEVER, awesome back patio for nice days 3. Ping pong 4. Pool 5. No food--but you can bring food in and they sell chips Go to Finnegans for a laid back, low key night of fun!
Nice local bar. Not a sports bar exactly, not a dive bar either. A lot of AB&B tourists too. Think the 'Winchester" in "Sean of the Dead."
Great bar. Recently updated interior is more open and bright. Newly renovated back area is nicer too with a new pong pong table.
Fun, low-key sports bar in Cole Valley. Awesome on a nice day, as they have a back yard with table tennis. Good place to watch SF sports games.
Great dive. Patio, pool, darts, and table tennis on the patio. More of a locals bar so it has a good crowd. Only really busy on game nights
the only thing constant is change. Way cool bar in Cole Valley. Fabulous back deck. Barbeque on football days. Bring in food from any restaurant in the area
Awesome bar with a small outdoor patio and pinball machines. :)
I like hanging out in their back patio, it's sunny and there is a cool mural. They also have live music some nights which is super fun.
Visited this pub while vacationing in San Fran - bartenders were super friendly and provided excellent service.
Great neighborhood bar.
Laid back local bar - pool tables, TVs, and a GREAT backyard with tables to enjoy the afternoon sunshine.
Amazing Indian food - highly suggest the Daal. The gluten free Naan is less terrible and dishes tasty overall. Will be coming back for the Saag for sure! Also a fun football game in the background and got to bring in my dog.
Highly recommended, great little divey Cole Valley bar...yes it's the name of a James Joyce book that I haven't read. Recently renovated (a year ago), it's now much nicer both inside and out. Inside, long bar w/a dozen or so beers on tap, big screen TVs usually w/sports on, jukebox, pool table, darts, pinball machines, and small tables for seating. Clean restrooms. Outdoors, back patio with benches, ping pong table (very popular), and deck area. Patio is also available for rentals for private or corporate events. Gets nicely crowded while showing bay area sports games. Very nice owners....twice a year they host a community potluck where food is served from the outside BBQ along with prepared salads and other treats. Definitely check it out each Memorial and Labor Day.
Nice neighborhood bar. My lover lives in the neighborhood so I always make sure to stop by, provided her husband is out of town

Great atmosphere with fun tv programming if on your own. The server made the perfect filthy gin martini.
Great people and a solid pool table. The area is nice too - definitely worth a visit!
What a phenomenal way to get out of my neighborhood! If there were more stars I'd give em!
The bar has a great selection of beers on tap, and a nice selection of wine. The back patio is peaceful. It gets great sun in the afternoon. Dog friendly on leash of course. Lots of different bartenders so I haven't created a rapport but all are kind and attentive.
Nikki was fabulous!! It was my first time in San Fran and we passed Finnegan’s Wake and had the best time. She was bubbly, friendly, and gave us great service!! Will definitely recommend this bar to my friends. Try the Bloody Mary!!!
One of my favorite places on Earth. The best barstaff imaginable..... Great drinks.... A pool table, ping ping table, backyard patio, and pinball machines. I used to live a few houses down on Cole Street and would be here everyday. I miss it. Someone go tell them I said hello.
A perfect neighborhood bar. Great place to watch a game. Great group of regulars. I recently had a great time watching the Women’s World Cup. Great sound system!
Finnegan's is one of my favorite local bars. The atmosphere is very easy going and the clientele is very local. It's great for grabbing a drink after work, especially with the backyard patio complete with ping pong and picnic benches. It is cash only, but ATM is easily accessible.
I was surprised I’d never been here before. Great neighborhood bar with a sunny backyard. The bartender Stephanie was attentive while being very busy on a Sunday afternoon.

This is a low key bar in Cole Valley next to Zazie's with TV screens to watch games, with a pool table inside and a ping pong table in the back patio. It's a great place to hang out while you wait in line for Zazie's and fun to hang in the patio on a sunny day. I love the murals in the patio.
DRINKS: Just regular beers and shots kinda bar :P SERVICE; good ATMOSPHERE: Awesome! one of the only places in sf w a real ping pong table! :) It's in the backyard along with few tables to drink and enjoy the outdoors. I guess it's good for smokers. The ping-pong table itself is kinda dirty, feels like playing at camp, gotta play with the wind factor too - they do provide paddles but it's all janky so I brought my own generic ones :P Anyways, it's awesome how it's a bar and it has a ping pong table perfect for a place to play and hang out n drink with friends. Also it's in Cole Valley so there's other stuff to do around, like dinner. And close walking distance to Haight area with also a lot of restaurants and stuff to do/see.
Solid neighborhood bar. Bartenders can be a little cranky sometimes, but there's a great patio in the back and they do pitchers of beer.
Great neighborhood sports bar with friendly staff. They also have outdoor space in the back which is awesome when the weather is nice!
Cozy authentic pub feel with outdoor seating, pinball and pool inside and a good selection of beers. Upbeat atmosphere.
Nice neighborhood pub. Not super divey but also not upscale…perfect middle
Great bar with a nice local vibe. Two pin ball machines but if you care about play at all you will only play Theater of Magic :)
Great (cash-only!) bar for hanging out, but not enough TVs to make it a great sports bar in my opinion.
Celebrated my birthday here with a group of friends. It was amazing, everyone had a great time playing ping pong! It's a great place to have fun with plenty of space to mingle and chat. Definitely enjoyed the cocktails, bar bites and ambience! Shoutout to Nick for going above and beyond for my large group, much appreciated!
Cool Irish pub with a nice outdoor seating area in the back. Pretty standard SF prices for drinks, lots of TVs with sportsball on, staff seemed stressed. Outdoor heaters would've been nice but somehow both were broken.

Finnegans has the best back patio to see sunshine, yet for the women’s World Cup they wouldn’t play sound OR play on all the TVs. The men’s was shown with sound… EQUAL SOUND and on all screensx. Cmon…
Neighborhood bar with a nice patio in back. Gets very loud, and doesn't have a happy hour.
Well, back in the hood after many years, and the possibility of seats at the bar on an early Friday evening was nice, but damn it was expensive: two beers and three shots for $60. One doesn’t like to be stingy and question the breakdown, but we were stunned. And the music was super run of the mill and loud.
One of the bartenders here is a total duck. Came here for the first time with a group and told him we’d order together—trying to help him out!!—and he rolled his eyes and was sullen and rude the rest of the night. I live in the neighborhood but I won’t be back. Cute patio so it’s too bad.
I’ve visited this place few times. But my last experience left me pretty annoyed. The patio’s heaters are fake and for show and they do not work. Then the bartender ( believe his name is mark ) or whoever he was rude. He gave me wrong information about by credit card and I would have left the bar without my CC. I tried to grab his attention for 5 mins during a pretty relaxed time at the bar and then he barked at me saying don’t you see an doing something!!! Like you are an absolutely misfit for hospitality industry. We might not been your regulars, but we do spend money on drinks and experience, so behave decently!
came here to spectate for the women’s world cup match and was met with harshness from the bartenders. we asked if they would put on the US match and they only agreed to two TVs and were not willing to turn on the sound. direct quote - “people pay to hear music”. when i came here for the men’s world cup every TV had the game on and the sound was high, and atmosphere was electric. there were probably about 6-7 groups in the bar with the intent to watch the game so this wasn’t just our groups ask. idk it just left us feeling sad knowing that women’s sports finally are picking up heat but don’t get equal support and excitement from sports bars and venues. it felt like we were kinda pushed off which would never have happened for the men’s matches. ironic that one of the bartenders was a women :( maybe one day we will get the same support as the men. we left and went to Kezar where most of the TVs had the world cup on and the sound was loud! glad we did.

Came for the women’s World Cup. Immediately when we walked in the one bartender was extremely rude and ignored us for several minutes. She used harsh language to several of the patrons except towards the ones she clearly knew. She made multiple excuses for her poor service and sat and talked to her friends without serving customers.
A friend and I were so excited to enjoy all the amenities of Finnegans Wake here in San Fran. I am visiting from out of town while my friend is a local. Upon entering, the bartender demanded we show our Vax cards and said it was "a city mandate that all 500 bars in San Francisco required." I asked, "since when," and he said "Thursday." After further investigation it appears he is spreading misinformation. Please be informed of this before supporting this establishment.
TLDR: rude bartender unreasonably kicked out of this place and interrupts a friend's birthday party. Would not recommend to anyone looking for friendly service or a nice environment to hang out (the heaters in the back patio DO NOT work and it's freezing) It was a Saturday night, beautiful evening in SF and we were going to this place for a surprise party for our friend's 30th birthday. The evening became a huge disappointment because of the very rude bartender (the guy was maybe 5'5', dark brown hair). We arrived early and went straight to the back patio ahead of the surprise party (no security or ID check to get in) and was chatting with mutual friends when folks decided to grab drinks at the bar. I was not planning to get a drink but went the group inside to keep chatting. The bartender ID's and serves drinks to the folks who wanted to get a beer and at one point, gestures to me for my order. I told him I'm not getting any drink and he continues to press for my ID as if he's security. I check my pockets and realize that I forgot mine at home and clarify again that I'm not getting a beer and don't need any drink service. The guy won't let it go. He points to me and points to the door and blurts out "I need you to leave" and presses on with "I already told you to leave". I quite frankly don't understand this service and attitude - there were plenty of others sitting and chatting in this place WITHOUT ID checks because there was NO ID checks at the door to enter. I've been to plenty of bars in SF where I'm just hanging out with friends and not drinking and there has been no instance where I've been pressed for ID like this and then kicked out on the spot (and with such bad attitude). I don't know how this place is an apparent "local favourite"? There are MUCH NICER bars with better service and nicer environments in SF. Would not recommend to anyone and definitely not coming back.
Most HOSTILE bar I’ve ever been to in my life. The service was horrible and rude, bartender was incredibly hostile as soon as we stepped in. The food is bad , the beer is overpriced and the crowd of people are just odd and off putting. Needless to say I do not recommend stopping here and spending your valuable time and money at a place like this.
Very disappointed with my experience here. The bartender was extremely rude and had us waiting +20 minutes to order drinks. She was very unprofessional. They refused to turn sound on for the women’s WORLD CUP for a 6pm game, yet when here last they had sound on for the men’s WC this summer. Seems very biased. MUCH better experience at Kezar.
