A great place for an intimate, romantic date night, accompanied by great hoagies! For those who don’t know what a hoagie is - it’s just a sub sandwich! Highly recommend and when you would go ask for Dennis.

Such a cute vibe! When ever I’m in the area I will forsure return. I felt very welcomed when I walked in!

Beautiful space, great service, and a delicious sando — what’s not to like? I wasn’t sure the cauliflower sando would be good but it was delish. While a bit on the pricy side, it’s fair. The ingredients are fresh and one sandwich is plenty for two people to eat once or one person to eat twice.

Super cozy neighborhood spot. Friendly seers and a great wine/beer selection

5 stars for the Spicy Chicken Cutlet Hoagie. We love her for her depth of flavor - hot honey, pickled veg, and is that fresh cilantro? The pillow-like, hoagie bread holds all this wonder together in true Philly-form. Oh, and toss in a perfectly cooked chicken cutlet as the star. Served with a side of chard-riesling brut. We will be back for more.

Always a wonderful experience and atmosphere at Palm City! The food and wine remains unbeatable and the tables in the sun are the best way to spend a sunny afternoon in SF!

This place serves natural wine and huge hoagies and it’s walkable to the beach. If you don’t think that sounds awesome then you’re a very sad person. I’ve tried all of sandwiches on the menu but the one I keep coming back to is the Italian American. I still don’t really get what natural wine is.

Was a bit turned off by the price point at first, but wow was it worth it. HUGE sandwich, could easily be 2 meals or split it with another person. I thought the bread was chewy and amazing. This thing was stuffed to the gills. I got the au poivre and loved it. Would go back.

H

Excellent roast veggie hoagie! Love the meaty zucchini and eggplant and the bits of crunchy cheesiness. So big, basically good for 1.5 meals. Will be back to try the others!

The italian american is The hoagie of all hoagies!! Stuffed with the most delicious arugula and morty d. Super large sammy — you really only need half, so splitting is probably wise, but also eat the whole thing if ya want no one’s stopping you. wine is also superb and atmosphere is very laidback. this is the spot.

Really good, sizable sandwiches. The Roast Pork had a ton of meat, and the broccoli rabe was a great contrast to the pork.

The place was very cozy, the people also very friendly. Took an Italian-American hoagie, it was amazing: very big and delicious and it took very less for them to make it, matter of minutes. You can taste every bit of it: the bread, the mortadella, the Parmesan. I would have preferred more mozzarella and more 'nduja, but it's my personal taste. I complain for the wrapping: it was not really easy to open, cause the paper was too strong to rip and also part of what was in the sandwich, especially the arugula, was on one side, not equally distributed, just sticking outside: so when you try to unwrap, it will fall on the floor or on the clothes. But the paper it seemed not strong enough to retain some liquid from dripping from the bottom part: indeed, I noticed it when some drops fell on my clothes and shoes, with my large disappointment. Aside that, all was good. The location is very nice: actually, one can taste the hoagie in the Golden Gate Park just nearby or on the beach. Highly recommended.

Haven’t tried the wine here, we got the sandwiches. My cauliflower hoagie was quite alright, the cauliflower chunks were too big.

This spot is truly such a gem. Fantastic service, wine selection, ambiance and food. We ordered: - garlic spread: very tasty! Huge portion so we even got to take it home - prosciutto and fruit: also very tasty, comes with delicious pickles - roast pork sandwich: so much pork flavor and the bread had such great texture. The sandwiches are MASSIVE and so packed. There is a corkage fee to buy any wine by the bottle / not by the glass, but the bottles are priced well so it wasn’t so bad. More importantly I will absolutely be coming back to just pick up bottles, the selection really is impressive.

Kevin L

Pro Tip: Parking can be difficult but you can order ahead for pick up on weekdays. Follow their Instagram for news and menu updates. Oh and save room for their seasonal fruit mini pie. Update: Palm City is still an awesome place to grab a bite to eat and enjoy some wine. Currently I'm to their gem salad and BLT. Super friendly neighborhood spot with online and walk up ordering available. All the hoagies we tried are delicious. Garlic pork and the cauliflower are my go-to hoagies. The Braised Lamb Shank was also quite good as a dinner option.

The hoagies were absolutely top notch. A combination of healthy and tasty greens with fantastic, easy to digest, meats (both pork and beef) as my buddy and I shared half sandwiches.

UPDATE 01/6/2021 I returned as promised and this time the hoagie was amazing. I had the Italian American and baguette had solid crunch and sesame seeds, the meats were thinly sliced and ample, the oil and vinegar mix added a nice balance to the richness of the meats and the spread they use was really good. Unlike the first hoagie I managed to eat finish it in one sitting. I highly recommend the IA hoagie, it is definitely a great sandwich. The customer service is always on point too. The person who holds down the counter is always super nice and you can she knows her customers. Great job Palm City! ORIGINAL REVIEW I came here based on a food recommendation from a friend who lived in the area. She hyped up the place, both for their selection of natural wines and their hoagies, so I decided to check it out. I arrived a few minutes before they opened at 12:30p and luckily no one was in line. Normally the line fills up quick and their online orders are usually pretty backed up. They save half of their hoagies for online orders and half for onsite walk ins. I was happily greeted by the employee and she was super nice and took my order. I ordered the garlic roasted pork hoagie and was excited to try it based on the amazing aroma permeating from the place when they opened the doors. It took about 10-15 min to have it ready and I was on my way. This hoagie is serious in that it’s packed to the brim and has some weight to it, definitely a “eat half now and eat half later” sandwich. To be fair, it took about 25 minutes to get to my office and this may have impacted some of the flavors and textures. First, I was hoping that the bread would have been toasted (it may have been but couldn’t tell for sure) and also wish the hoagie was cut in half. I didn’t half a sharp knife readily available and I had to rip it in half with my hands. The sauce they put on it is VERY rich and it overpowered the hoagie. This may have been done on purpose as the roasted pork lacked flavor. I found it very bland. They don’t have chips yet but are getting some in the near future. I’d never had this mineral water and it quickly has become a favorite of mine, very crisp. I will be giving PCW another shot with the Italian American hoagie. I want to really love this spot as the people are super friendly, the place looks cool and I want to continue to support local businesses. I will be writing a follow up on my next hulk hoagie. I’m rooting for you guys “Don’t let me down brother”(insert hulk hogan voice)

Palm City is an amazing wine bar & cafe. Street parking is the only option. Our party had a Rose with Speck & Fruit to start and the Shrimp salad hoagie was crisp, crunchy and creamy deliciousness. The Italian hoagie was like a salad and a sandwich all in one. The parmesan cheese and garlicky arugula paired with mortadella were amazing. Just go and you will not be disappointed!

N
Nicholas Barisone

Great vibes, friendly staff, awesome music, fantastic beer and wine selection - the $20 sandwich had me squinting - but overall I'm more than happy to pay for a great sando + the whole experience. I lived in this neighborhood when it was opening during covid and I finally got a chance to eat inside a couple weeks ago. The staff seemed to encourage lingering around and drinking more beer. As soon as I was 7/8 finished with my drink I was being offered another. I'll definitely be back and recommend this to anyone visiting the 'hood. I wish there were more places like this, everything in SF is pricey, but this place seems to deliver value through attentive staff and a sense of community.

M
Matt Laroche

Palm City has a limited menu, but what it has is great. Their beer selection from some of the best breweries in the region (Humble Sea, Alvarado, Moonlight, and sometimes Cellarmaker). They'll happily recommend a wine for what you're cooking at home. The food is delicious, and you'll immediately feel welcome. A gem.

R
Rexlor Graymond

Friends, San Franciscans, connoisseurs of the vine and grain... lend me your eyeballs and read my words! One visit is all it takes for you to become a frequent patron of Palm City Wines. In spite of our current predicaments, the shop keeps chugging along, providing a diverse selection of beer and wine. ...and the food. THE FOOD. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. The Italian American hoagie is what got me hooked and believe me, once you take a bite you'll be hard pressed to share what's left of the sandwich with any company present. I absolutely recommend Palm City Wines, it's practically a local treasure.

Oh my. I ordered the Hoagie au Poivre. It was honestly the best hoagie I have ever had. It was so delicious. Staff is being very covid safe. You cannot enter the building and instead order and pick up takeout at a door in the doorway. Staff are super kind and I appreciate everyone being safe and wearing masks. Thank you for a delicious meal and a great selection of wines!

G
Graham Willcox

This place is special. The hoagies are high art. The wines are always a happy surprise. The people who work here are cool and kind. Keep an eye on their instagram for their current dine in vs take out instructions: they are navigating the shifting covid terrain just like the rest of us. Off prime hours are usually a better time to hit up the staff for wine wisdom. Monica & Dennis are the the couple who own the business and their recommendations are always on point for me.

J

A great sandwich. I’m from the suburbs of Philly and have never had a favorite sandwich in SF. This was as close to home as I’ve had. I appreciate the seeded roll, while a little softer than East Coast bread, it does the job and does it well.

R

Awesome spot to grab a drink, a sandwich, and a cookie. The Italian American was delicious!

R
Ryan Freeman

Hard to find anything not to love about this place. The owners and staff are absolutely lovely, the wine selection is well curated and reasonable, and the sandwiches are world class. Honestly, the cauliflower sandwich was the standout for me because it was so unexpected - great blend of rich, earthy flavor with bright, herbal notes and some acid, a bit reminiscent of a banh mi. The Italian American is perfect and really put over the top by the n’duja mayo. The green apple with the roast beef is a brilliant little detail that added some crisp sweetness. The potato salad was brilliant in its simplicity and balance. Cant wait to try everything else. Yes it’s gotten a lot of hype and the online orders sell out, but it seems like walk up orders are still pretty easy to come by and the wait time was like 15 minutes and more than worth it. Don’t come for the press and the hype, come for great food made by good people who invested into their neighborhood and made a business work during a pandemic. You’ll be very happy you did.

Most excellent food, drink, service and staff! We were vibing and lost track of time. Place got busy and when it does, don’t be too shy to share a table. Vibrant community, you got a lot in common with SOCAL in a good way! Peace and love Palm City in the Sunset District, I am looking forward to visiting again.

We had the gabagool and spicy cheese spread. Absolutely exquisite! The wine was so great too. 5 stars ⭐️

M

Palm City is so good. It has an especially electric scene on sunny Saturdays in the Sunset when the waves are pumping and everyone is having a good time. The hoagies are the lunch highlight. We sampled a few, and my favorite was the cauliflower banh mi. The sandwiches are creative, fresh and a little indulgent. This place is just fun. Friendly staff, beautifully-designed wood tables, music, outdoor seating. Easy 5/5 stars. (I didn't get any photos of lunch, so added a photo here of Ocean Beach a couple blocks away)

D
Dyanna Volek

The BEST hoagies in San Francisco hands-down. They opened during the pandemic and immediately transitioned into a to-go spot famous for their mile-long sandwiches. My favorite is the ROASTED CAULIFLOWER. Yes, there are plenty of meat-filled sandwiches to choose from but trust me on this. The cauliflower mixed with the special sauce is heaven. It is extremely messy to eat but completely worth it. Just bring a lot of napkins. They are now open for dine-in and to-go. Either way you choose, get a couple of sandwiches, pick up some beer or wine (both are excellently curated), and enjoy!

S
Steve Engle

First visit and I didn't quite even know what a hoagie was. But with a concise menu including some friendly starters, it didn't matter. Nice choices in wine by the glass and a good selection of beers. Will definitely be back.

J
Jonathon Paul

Easily the best (non-traditional Italian, non-Vietnamese) hoagies in SF. You’ll pay twice as much as Arguello or Gus's but it’s ten times better. Slow service depending on hipster traffic. Highly recommend ordering to-go; their dining area is way too loud and poorly laid out. Outdoor dining options aren’t good either.

D
Dixon Lu

I had home made garlic pork (not processed meat) and grilled spinach (not lettuce), so way better than and different from a Philly hoagie. Just too big for a normal person. Pickled vegetables were also crispy and tasty. Relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff.

M
Mohit Bhoite

Amazing (and very messy) Hoagies! They also have a good selection of beer and wine.

L
Louis Delgado (Louis D.)

One of my favorite places in the Bay Area. Unpretentious, snob free, fantastic natty wine selection and the sandwiches are perfect. Love this place. Great casual date spot.

C
Christopher Salcedo

If you don’t like this place, you are probably a bad person. Some of the best sandwiches ever. No joke. No lie. No gimmicks, the food smacks and it smacks hard. Spend your (or someone else’s)money here. They also have a dope natural wine selection which I haven’t messed with because I don’t really drink wine, but all the friends that do love it. You will not be disappointed. If you are, you don’t understand their greatness. K bye.

K
Kenna Clawson

Great wine selection and such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The service is really good too! I would skip the sandwiches and go for the wine and appetizers :)

l

My husband kept wanting to try the sandwiches from here because his colleagues kept raving about them. The hoagies look great in pics but I'm like " At $17 a sandwich how much better can these be compared to other local shops?" I got the Italian and my husband the Roast Pork Consider my mind blown. They're freakin' heavy for one thing because they're stuffed full of meat and the greens....arugula with parmesan cheese? These were some classy sandwiches. In short, it's definitely worth the rave.

V
Victoria Ku

Had the hoagie Au poivre and it was really good. They use fresh raw peppers and every time you bite into one, in combo with the meat and juicy bread, it’s like a quick transport back to Europe. Great beach snack- can’t wait to try the Italian American but I don’t like lines. Thankfully you can order online !

B

Really enjoyed my visit here (through a friend’s recommendation). The subs are huge and so delicious!!! 😋 The white bean salad is also very tasty. Bubbles were nice!

M
Matt Platoff

I love palm city, their subs and wine are both great but please please please add the ability to remove ingredients from subs when ordering online due to allergy restrictions. I have an allergy and it’s super limiting to only be able to order in person instead of getting subs to go because I can’t remove the cheese from some subs unless I go in person an wait.

Small but cozy place serving delicious food. The Spicy Garlic Cheese Spread is a must. We had the roast pork sandwich and the au poivre sandwich, both amazing although the roast pork came with brocholini, not my favorite. Great place!

This place is a hidden gem. The service is amazing and staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food is great. Their pork hoagie is amazing. Get the spicy garlic spread with crostini and the speck. Wine selection is wonderful. We loved the wines we tried so much we bought home a few bottles. Love the decor. It’s chill and cozy with a ton of lush green plants. Loved the music they were playing. Perfect spot for a drink and a bite. Will definitely be back.

Definitely a new type of restaurant for the outer sunset district.. I'd have to admit I was a little skeptical once I saw the menu and the prices? But I'm ate my words along with a great sandwich! In fact my wife and I have been back four more times! I'll just say this, every sandwich eats like a meal, like a full plate meal! Roast beef, arugula and sliced apples, come on you could plate that with a glass of wine on a Saturday night! Bravo 👏🏻 keep it up

M
Mark Rahmani

I've been leaving some bad reviews for businesses that deserve it lately, so I think I need to balance it out with good reviews for those doing things right. This place was born during covid, and might have been partially funded by near-daily cookie purchase by my family. (yes their cookies are that good! try them - we still randomly stop by just to buy cookies). But now in a post-covid world, they're a great place to hang out (always busy but not too busy), and their hero sandwiches are awesome (especially the beef one). Great place to hang out and grab a glass of wine, or for ordering takeout for lunch.

F
Field Check

Love their shrimp salad and cauliflower sandwiches. So Yammy! Good atmosphere too!

L
Luke Guevara

The place is great. The food is top notch. Honestly I'm not sure how the sunset was able to pull this off. Not the typical vibe down in this neighborhood. The natural wines are also very well curated and should be tasted and trusted. Beer selection is darn good with a few misses here and there. Less in touch then their wine. Here's the deal. The staff can be a bit pretentious and scene based. I'm sure they are dealing will all kinds of douches because of the caliber of food, but read the room. It people are nice to you in the first few interaction don't keep up the bit. I'd give it 4 1/2 starts because the service is often a bit poor but sometimes the service is also AMAZING. Stop reading, just go. You'll like it.

C

The sandwiches are incredible - you will literally need to come up for air. Lean into the typical misty weather and definitely come through for a snack and some wine. Particularly fond of the shrimp sandwich.

B

The bread was a perfect blend of firm but not too hard. I tried the shrimp salad sandwich and was not disappointed. It was a delicious sandwich with big pieces of shrimp and texture from the potato chips.

The cauliflower hoagie is an amazing vegan option! Just let the server know you want it vegan and they can also remove the honey. It was absolutely delicious and very filling! The salad and squash dish also pictured are gluten free but not vegan and were also outstanding! Service was great! Waster was so attentive and helpful in working with dietary restrictions and made excellent wine recommendations. Great vibe overall inside as well - will be back!

I had ordered sandwiches to go from Palm City, but I finally got to visit in person for a dine in experience and had a wonderful time. My friend and I went on a Friday evening. It was not as a crowded as we thought it would be for a Friday so we were luckily able to snag a table inside. The interior is bright and airy with big windows that let in a lot of natural light. We each started with a glass of wine. I got the Skin contact (orange wine) and my friend got the Picpoul white wine. Both were yummy! We split the chopped salad and the Italian American hoagie. Both were delicious! Everything comes out in a reasonable amount of time and the service we had was great. Their portions are quite large so I definitely recommend splitting if you want to try multiple sandwiches or dishes. Lastly, we ordered two brown butter chocolate chip cookies. Pro tip: take them home and microwave to make the chocolate a little bit melty 😋 Side note: I am a dog mom so I always like to make note of this in reviews — they do not appear to be dog friendly inside, but they do have small line of tables outside that you could sit at with your dog

I couldn’t even be bothered to make these pictures look good, that’s how fast I needed to eat this thing. I learned about Palm City yesterday, a tale of west and east coast individuals coming together to dish out perfection. My god were they right. As a native Philadelphian this bread is the best I’ve ever had on the west coast. Hands down, no questions asked, sell my kidney for this bread. Shrimp salad was phenomenal. Pastrami was even better. I might need to go back for the rest of the menu tomorrow. Cancel your weekend plans, and go get a damn sandwhich. 🦅

4-24-21: I've heard a lot about this place and was so excited to try their sandwiches. I was not disappointed at all. Both hoagies were delicious and I would come back again for more! Ordered a mortadella hoagie and a cauliflower hoagie to go. Bread was perfect. I'm a big fan of sesame seed buns and was delighted to see sesame seed bread. I thought the cauliflower hoagie was exceptional. I thought the sauce was tasty with the avocado and I would order this again. The mortadella was good but I will try one of the other meat hoagies next time. Prices are not inexpensive but the hoagies are BIG! Definitely a great sandwich!

This place was recommended to me a couple times but I didn’t love it as much as everyone else. I got the Italian hoagie which was good, but not mind blowing - mine definitely had too much sauce which kind of ruined it but I could tell the other fillings and the healthy amount of greens were quite tasty. The music was also really loud (I am saying this as a 23yo) which maybe I could have enjoyed if I was sipping on some beer/wine but it was honestly too loud to talk easily. I would definitely give this place a second try but so far prefer the sandwiches at deli board for sure.

Good hoagies but they are way too fancy & expensive. Also they have a good wine selection

Checked out Palm City after reading the review in the Chronicle. First, growing up on the east coast in Boston and having family in Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore I’ve had my fair share of subs and hoagies (and the occasional grinder). I *love* a good east coast style sub/hoagie. And an Italian cold cut is my go-to to judge a shop. Like many others have noted, these are not inexpensive sandwiches. $20 for the Italian-American hoagie is pretty steep. And while decent-sized, I didn’t find it to be the “belly buster” many folks have commented on. The meats are high quality and sliced super-thin - a good indication of a good hoagie. But, the arugula-Parmesan salad was a bit of a curve ball for me. But, it did come together quite well. Between the price, the arugla-Parmesan salad, and the artisan bread, these are less of a “Philadelphia-style” hoagie and more what I would call a “San Frandelphia-style” hoagie. Some may be surprised in the “No Mods. No Substitutions” signage. The restaurant is bright and clean in design, with a nice craft beer tap selection and wine list as well. I look forward to returning and trying another sandwich. Keep and eye out for their second location in the works!

This is my second trip and I'm glad I came by again! Loved the first trip and the second was good too. That said, I have some limited feedback that I hope management at least looks at as I think they should keep on being a top sandwich spot in the Bay Area! I ordered two sandwiches (Italian and Pork) and thought the following: 1) There was a bit too much arugula on the Italian, but don't cut it by too much. I love it on the sandwich but just a little less please 2) More acidity on both sandwiches would be great! Pickles, relish, hot peppers, etc. The pork needed some contrast IMO beyond bitter from the broccolini 3) Just a little more seasoning. The pork was very juicy and tastes good, but it was a little bland. I added some blackened seasoning at home and that woke everything up IMO. Again, just my thoughts but I plan on coming back again soon either way!

Say yes to the hoagie. We watched a bayarea review on this spot and tried it out. I initially thought the cauliflower hoagie would be my choice. However, the forwardness of the seasoning was too much curry for me Like a champ I pivoted to the Italian. Mighty glad I did. The dressing, greens, fresh parmesan the meat and the bread are sublime everything is in balance on this hoagie. So fresh, so simple. I am /have never been a "cold cut" kinda guy. This hoagie sent me a letter and I opened it, read it and now cherishing the contents. My wife really enjoys the shrimp hoagie. Dress warmly, it's cold, there is no parking bring a friend possibly split a hoagie. I might also suggest you have a know before you go...small shop serving a popular product. *things have changed! My last 3 purchases were very different. The bread has been burnt see photo below.

Delish! Super cute! ~elevated~ wine and sandwich! A little pricey, but the sandwiches are huge so you can def split one.

Excited to have a wine bar in the outer sunset. Perfect place to meet up with a friend after work and yap. I know they are known for their hoagies but we already had food beforehand. The vibe is cute, staff was friendly. They have a good selection of wine but $15 corkage fee if you wanted to buy a bottle and share. I had the chardonnay which was light and not overly sweet. The boquerones was fresh as well, the bread that accompanied was on drier side though. Parking can be difficult on Irving, I was lucky enough to snag someone leaving 2 streets down. But cute place for locals and the beach is nearby.

more than just a tasty and hip sandwich spot, palm city also serves a variety of natural wines in a bright and welcoming atmosphere. great place to meet up with friends after the beach and make sure to share the hoagies since the portions are massive. overall, would come back to try the other dishes and wines. little gem lettuce salad: high quality ingredients, refreshing, well seasoned. would recommend. orange house wine: refreshing and enjoyable. italian american hoagie: personally not a fan but it is a well made dish and those who like deli meats would enjoy. roast pork hoagie: highly recommend. pork was juicy and well seasoned. broccoli cut through the bitterness

Delicious sandwiches and nice service. I just wish the sandwich fillings could be rotated 90 degrees so you could get all the fillings in a single bite. I also wish there were more of the supporting ingredients; there was so much of the main ingredient (cauliflower or pork) it could become one-note, especially with the sandwich construction. Would totally come back and recommend though! This place gets busy and loud, at 6pm on Friday there was a line.

Palm city has a very cute and quiet aesthetic. The selection of wine is alright and the Garlic Roasted Pork hoagie is very good.

Great sandwiches that can easily be split by 2 people, they are huge! The wine selection is good but the corkage fee sucks ($15) - instead pack a blanket and head to the park to save some money

I was surprised by the taste, size, and flavor. The hoagies are delicious and with ginger kombucha from health aide...it goes down well. If I walk there, I want to try their salads and 🍷.

Had the white wine and the Gabagool — it was a treat!! If you can, try to sit the corner where the sun hits you. Service and vibes are similar any other bougie wine bar, with excellent waiter recommendations on food options. Will go again!!

I would say most people would really enjoy this place. I know I have for years. I did just have my last experience though. Terribly rude wait staff, could not get a water refill to save my life. My salad greens were old and wilted, broccoli rabe on my roast pork was cooked TO DEATH and was crazy bitter. I have had that sandwich dozens of times and used crave it… but not anymore. Guess we all have off days

The atmosphere and aesthetic are nice. The service staff is nice. And the drinks are good. But the hoagies are very bland and overpriced. Would not recommend the food. Nice place for a drink though. Just be prepared to pay a lot.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Came to eat since working, so no alcohol. Had appetizer with figs & prosciutto, split cauliflower hoagie and roast pork hoagie. Appetizer was very good, and hoagies very tasteful, but hard to get my small mouth around. Should try their wines next time I go.

Got takeout but looks cool inside. Roast beef sandwich was comically huge and not cut in half so kinda messy to eat. Lots of gristle in the meat. Didn’t get napkins or a bag

Palm City Wines in San Francisco's Outer Sunset neighborhood is a delightful spot for indulging in generously portioned hoagies and a curated selection of wines. Their Italian American hoagie is a standout, piled high with mortadella, salami, arugula, and a zesty nduja sauce on a sturdy hoagie roll. The sandwiches are incredibly filling, with a single hoagie easily satisfying two people. One must arrive early to secure the popular shrimp salad sandwich, as it often sells out quickly. The bright and airy space with a neighborhood vibe makes for a pleasant dining experience. While the hoagies take center stage, the well-curated wine list and locally-sourced ingredients elevate Palm City beyond a typical.

I firmly believe Palm City has some of the best sandwiches in town. As someone who grew up eating hoagies on the east coast, the Italian American really hits the spot. Palm City takes the best of Philly-style hoagies and embraces the west coast ethos of fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can’t go wrong with any sandwich on the menu. So you’re probably asking why just 3 stars? Shrinkflation. At least for the Italian American specifically, they have gradually decreased the amount of meat in the sandwich while increasing the amount of the arugula salad. Don’t get me wrong - the salad is great - but I had a look at photos from 2-3+ years ago and my suspicion was confirmed. Oh, and the loaves have also become smaller (but no less delicious). I understand that economic factors are hard to overcome, especially for small businesses. But seeing a $17 damn-near-footlong sandwich become a 9-ish” $20 half arugula sandwich makes me a little sad. Nonetheless, I’ll be returning because the sandwich is still delicious.

A nice spot out towards the coast that serves salads, a sandwiches and more. I had a BLT which was tasty and fresh, but the large size and use of basically uncut whole (but small-ish) tomatoes made it quite challenging to eat and pretty messy. Easily enough for two people. And we felt it was pretty pricey. But good service and a fine lunch option in the area.

I’ve been before so I could not wait to go back. I brought a friend with me this time and he was a little less enthused than I anticipated. What’s wrong, I asked? He said, “Peter, the bread. It’s a day old.” And that’s when I realized the hoagie was served on day old bread. I didn’t have the guts to say something to the waitress. They were ecstatic to tell me where the bread was from and it was a relatively new bakery for them. Now the bread looked fantastic….But it was a day old. That kinda hits low for a $20 hoagie.

Came in for a sandwich after surfing on a busy weekend. Had gone a couple of times before and felt they had solid food, but the sandwich I got on this particular day was awful. Felt like they cut up two soggy tomatoes and put it alongside two stripes of overcooked bacon…sad sandwich

This place has been on radar for a while, with friends recommending it, and it showing up on multiple articles for sandwich spots. I came in with high expectations and was left fairly disappointed. We ordered the Italian. The bread tasted like toasted cracked wheat and had these burnt sesame seeds on top. The bread detracted from the whole sandwich, which is hard to do. The meat was good and had slight spicy kick to it but was masked by the arugula + whatever sauce/vinaigrette the arugula was tossed in. The cheese was good, but didn’t stand out. My friend mentioned they didn’t even know there was cheese on it. Trendy spot, high prices, disappointing sandwich.

Ambiance is nice, but I did not feel welcomed by the staff. It took 20 minutes to make a cold sandwich, and I felt very pressured to stand outside even though there were plenty of open seats inside. Sandwich was aight but I’m petty sure it didn’t include the salami it was supposed to have.

Wine bar and hoagies is a classic “coastal city millennial cute” idea but this place is overrated and the vibes were straight up bad. The hoagies weren’t that good and pretty expensive. But the biggest issue was the service. We ordered ahead of time and originally planned to eat our hoagies at the beach. We asked when getting our food at the counter if we could order a glass of wine and sit outside and eat our to-go food there, and the person working said that was totally fine. We get seated, and as we’re eating, a staff member comes up to tell us that in the future, we really shouldn’t eat the to-go sandwiches at the outdoor tables. That’s fine if that is your policy, but don’t sell me a 16 dollar glass of wine and say it’s ok to enjoy it with the food outside, then interrupt us mid-meal to tell us what we’re doing is a nuisance to the “people on the waitlist” for a table (there was no one waiting inside or outside). This does not suit the laid back energy of the sunset and doesn’t feel like a welcoming neighborhood spot. Wouldn’t recommend.

Sandwich’s were ok. Got the BLT and the bread was dry and it had no flavor. Service was good and ambiance was nice. But overpriced and not tasty at all. Much better places to get lunch around Irving St.

A

Anyone who says the hoagies are good has either drank a whole bottle of wine, or is too embarrassed to admit they spent $20 on a terrible sandwich. The bread is rolled in sesame seeds and cooked to a crisp, making the flavor clash with the ingredients and the consistency too difficult to eat. We tried the pork and the shrimp and couldn’t get more than 3 bites in to either. You know you’re doomed when the sandwich comes with a fork.

Came here because of the good reviews but I'm not sure why this place is so busy. The hoagies are overpriced and overstuffed with ingredients. I tried the shrimp salad hoagie. It was a hot mess, overly coated with vinegar and dressing. Some of the staff were friendly, others saw us standing around for a while and didn't say anything. If they cut down the ingredients it would be better, but then they wouldn't be able to charge so much. I definitely don't plan on returning to this place. Save your money, there are better sandwiches elsewhere.

B

The place looks cool but the staff has bad attitude. the sandwiches are way over priced and didn’t even include the meat as described on the menu and it took them 20+ minutes to make a cold sandwich. Overall one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had in San Francisco.

S
Sarah N

Went there on Saturday around 1pm. Unbelievably and unnecessarily rude staff. My sister asked very nicely if her sandwich halves could be wrapped separately (it's a reasonable request since the sandwiches are messy and they slice them in half anyway) and was answered with a sharp "No." No explanation, no kindness. AFTER we tipped 22% for takeout. I've never left a bad review because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. But this was just too much. Aside from the despicable service, the sandwiches are fine but nothing special. The 'nduja sauce on the Italian American was overly salty and the cookie was awful both in terms of taste and texture.

Love Palm City! It can get busy but they do a great job of managing the crowd and seating. Amazing sandwiches and small but delicious selection of natural wines and on tap beers.
