December 2017 update: Been coming here frequently since my original post. Still amazing Vietnamese food. 2012 post: Great traditional Vietnamese food. They have good pho, dry vermicelli dishes with pork/chicken/egg rolls, stir fry house crab, meatball mixed plate, catfish clay pot, 3 color drinks...
We don't get out to the avenues much but popped in for a quick bite. I wish I'd had more of an appetite because the few items we did order were all excellent and the menu is long. Super friendly, mostly local place. The staff seemed to know all the regulars and their kids. The storefront might look forgettable but you'll remember the experience.
I was so hungry going in, and I left happy and full with such delicious and homey food. I had clams, pho with rare steak, and bahn xeo. I was almost slurping these food because I was famished. They were yummy yummy (pun intended) and the staffs were friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again and try some other food as well.
As their name suggests, food was yummy yummy! Had the crab dish, grilled prawns, Chinese broccoli and steamed rice. Clean place, attentive and friendly staff. Got there when they opened for dinner and the place quickly filled up with people waiting and a steady stream of food to go orders. No doubt others already know the quality of the place.
TLDR: high quality flavorful pho, must return! Let’s get the “negatives” out of the way, it’s a little pricier and the atmosphere is a normal restaurant. That’s it. Amazingly tasty food with high quality meat (they use ribeye and not regular cuts of beef), the tendon and tripe are so tasty and tender, and the pho soup is flavorful but not too oily not too salty. Highly recommend you try out this establishment that has been here for a long time!!
4.7 stars is an understatement. The service was great. The food was impeccable. I got the butter, chicken wings, the chicken noodle soup, and fried rice noodles. Everything was so good and I would recommend this to anyone.
I love this place so much. It’s quickly become a neighborhood staple and my favorite Vietnamese in the city (I used to live near Turtle Tower in Little Saigon so my bar is high)! Things I love - - The classic beef pho broth is flavorful, savory - not overly sweet or spiced, and not watered down. It’s just perfect. They don’t skimp on portions for meat or noodles. - You can sub fresh rice noodles for classic pho noodles, which I personally love. Less chewy but soft and comforting. - they have greater variety than typical of a pho spot. You can get classic beef pho but they also have Bun Rieu (a tomato and shrimp/crab paste noodle soup that’s delish). - everything’s incredibly fresh. Not a wilty herb in sight. - finally, they service!! They are insanely kind. The owners are warm and friendly. My three year old daughter was sad that I ate her noodles 😅 and the owner packed her extra to go. This will be our go-to spot for years to come.
WOW! Amazing Vietnamese restaurant!! Every dish was so good and we had many :) We were a party of 10 and we shared everything. The owner was very friendly and had great recommendations. We really enjoyed it, can’t wait to come back again. Highlights were fresh spring rolls with shrimps, beef on sticks & vegetables in a DIY version of lettuce wrap and of course - PHO beef. Prices are amazingly affordable. Highly recommended!
I was recommended by a friend to visit this place, we had the spring rolls which was freshly made and the meat was very tender with a crunchy layer, Shacha beef with a little bit of spicy and the taste of peanut with noodle was so good and tender and finally the crab was to die for. The owner was really nice and friendly to everybody and service was excellent!
Been delicious every time. Simple surroundings, have eaten in and taken out. The peanut beef noodle soup is delicious as is the seafood noodle soup. Fresh and tasty.
Amazing pho, quality food and fast service! The owner is so warm and friendly, always goes out of his way to say hi whenever we stop in. The pho broth is complex. You can tell they stew the broth with real ingredients for hours unlike most other places that rely on bouillon cubes. We also really enjoy the salt and pepper calamari. Highly recommend!
Easily one of my favorite places in SF. Pho, five spice chicken, bun, etc. so much good food and the staff is so welcoming and warm.
I've gone here with my mom since I was a kid. The staff always recognize us, give us generous portions, recommendations, and take care of us. This business deserves all of the love, and is one of the best Vietnamese spots in the city! Vietnamese approved.
It’s my favorite meal in this trip. The food is great! The people there are very nice. Really appreciated
If you are debating whether you should try this place, stop right there. Try it and don't think twice. And shall I add, you must, and I mean YOU MUST, try the salt & pepper Dungeness crab!!!! It's heavenly and simply the best crab l've ever had. No.8 Sate beef noodle soup is also a favorite and never disappoints. We’ve been coming for 4 years and will keep coming back.
I was on my way to try seafood at another local restaurant and I saw this place. There clam looks amazing so I wanted to try it out, which was a very yummy dish. The salad was nice. The soup was also good. They also have whole dungeon crab for abt 50 but we were too full to try anything else. Overal, food is quite good, the owner and servers were very nice to us, price is okay. They also accepted cards although there was a cash only sign at the front.
The food here is amazing and flavorful and the portion is so good for the price. Everybody was also very welcoming. I would love to come back someday.
Lives up to its name! We had the BBQ pork summer rolls, XL pho, bun rieu, and shaking beef. Everything was delicious. Pho broth was clean. Bun rieu broth was slightly sweet. Lots of toppings (meat, etc) for both. Service was efficient, and food came out relatively quickly! Loved the atmosphere -- we went for dinner on a Saturday, and it was bustling. The front of house was lively and joking with customers. Felt like a popular local spot.
Excellent Dungeness crab! The house special is a little spicy, and served with onions and scallions. The Bò Lúc Lắc (shaking beef) is great, very tender and heavy on the fresh crushed black pepper, but I wish a spicy version was available. Fast and friendly service. Always very welcoming.
My favorite Vietnamese place in the area. The pho is great, and the spring rolls are some of the best I’ve had. If the place is too crowded though, there are a few other Vietnamese places very close by, and I wouldn’t feel bad at all about going to those instead.
Very attentive staff, there almost every other table had customers but the moment I walked in I was greeted and lucky enough to grab a seat for myself. Ordered the salt and pepper squid, beef pho, and 3 color drink with the total coming out to about $45.
After 63 visits to Yummy Yummy and 24 to its sister restaurant, Y&Y, Yummy Yummy remains my favorite restaurant in San Francisco. I enthusiastically submit this recommendation without the slightest reservation. Growing up, my mother prepared multiple Vietnamese dishes for my family on a daily basis, often visiting multiple markets and grocery stores each day in search of the highest quality ingredients. Yummy Yummy’s dishes are most similar to my mothers of the over 100 Vietnamese restaurants I have tried in the U.S. and abroad. The food is prepared with high-quality ingredients and meticulous care. My favorite dishes are: Bún riêu, Cua rang muối, Bánh xèo, Cháo gà, Bún thịt nướng, Bánh cuốn, and Chả giò. Portions are generous at extremely reasonable prices. The staff are wonderful. They are friendly and helpful in English, Vietnamese, and Cantonese. This is a must-visit restaurant in San Francisco—even if a bit out of the way! (I usually frequent the restaurant several times per week, and it is 41 minutes from my home in Mission Bay.) A special thank you to Joy and Mr. Luc for helping make my experience so lovely and for putting a smile on my face.
Amazing! We got the yummy yummy fried rice, 5 spice chicken, the fried shrimp rolls, clams and pork chop rice. Everything was incredible. Definitely authentic Vietnamese and worth visiting with friends/family!
With its friendly atmosphere, great food, and its gracious portions Yummy Yummy is a hidden gem of SF's Sunset district. Despite not having the fame of its neighbors this family owned phó spot will always be my go to for a nice warm meal, and great company. My wife and I have been coming here for years and not once have we ever had a bad meal. Upon entering you're greeted with a smile and the lovely aroma of home-cooked Vietnamese comfort food. Monday and Tuesday they are closed but please stop by for the best Pho in the city. I always recommend the #1 ( a beef broth Pho) and the #8 ( a beef and peanut broth Pho) and if you need a pick-me-up the Vietnamese iced coffee will keep you going for hours. If you have a peanut allergy this place is not for you.
Some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve had outside of Vietnam. The salt & pep crab was absolutely sensational - I went in with both hands, knuckles deep, without a care in the world. The bánh xèo was the perfect appetizer. Perfectly cooked noodles in the pho/BBH. Service was friendly and attentive. A most memorable meal and certainly will come back next time I visit SF!
Pardon my photo quality, I got excited and only remembered to take one after digging in. This might be the best bun bo hue I’ve had. The broth was perfectly balanced with just a touch of sweetness that created the most savory umami flavor bomb. It’s a very rich broth that’s meaty in flavor but not overwhelming. There was so much tender beef shank in this bowl. I kept finding more and more. The noodles were perfectly soft yet chewy. Service was quick but still polite. I loved the miniature collection at the front door. My boyfriend’s pho was also a huge and satisfying portion full of tasty flavor. Can’t wait to come back!!
We ordered a salad with chicken, beef, squid, and vegetables, along with regular pho and spicy beef pho. Everything was delicious and unique. The spicy pho had a tomato-based broth. The restaurant was very busy on Friday evening, but the service was very friendly. A lovely family-owned restaurant!
The food here is really good especially the pho for a chilly day and the yummy yummy was my favorite perfectly fried and was served with an egg on top the owners was really nice and funny he has a great characteristic and we Loved it here and will come here again!!
I had an excellent dining experience at an authentic and delicious Vietnamese restaurant. The food was incredibly flavorful and genuine, transporting me directly to Vietnam with every bite. The staff was efficient and friendly, ensuring all our needs were promptly met. Additionally, the atmosphere was nice and comfortable, perfect for a relaxed meal. I will definitely be returning soon.

Yummy yummy yummy yummy. Perfect start to the new year! Delicious noodle soups.

Omg this is best vegan/veggie pho in the city, such flavorful broth! the owner and staff here are so incredibly friendly and have amazing service. So glad I found this place
I recommend yummy yummy the food is very good. They need to work on their take out orders. They didn't provide with utensils (fork, spoon, chopsticks and napkins) I ordered yummy yummy last week the food was good but there was no utensils. How you going to eat soup with no utensils.

Came here early-ish on a Tuesday for dinner with a group of 6. Had to wait a little bit so we could all sit together. Modest interior with some funky mirror placements, but the food is good, the waiter was friendly. Decent food, decent price. Would go back for a casual easy going dinner.
Solid Vietnamese food and friendly fast service. Their pho is solid, if you're looking for your Vietnamese beef broth fix, this is your place. We ordered the #1 which is their extra large with meat on the side. They only gave three slices of meat -.- which was a bit of a bummer, but the pho was still delicious. We also ordered the BBQ pork rice plate, solid. Prices were OK I guess, but other places would toss in an egg roll or what not on their rice plate for their price of about $9/plate. The food came fairly quickly and the sides of bean sprouts, lime, etc was pretty generous. Overall a solid location to get you pho on.
The servers were attentive and kind, no complaints there. The (6) eggrolls were fresh and piping hot—definitely a standout! The Vietnamese coffee was spot on: bold, strong, and just how I like it. The big portion of combination pho had a rich, clean broth that didn’t even need hoisin sauce, which says a lot. As for the bun bo hue and bun rieu, they leaned a bit too sweet for my taste, but a touch of shrimp paste helped balance things out. If I come back, I’d absolutely order the eggrolls, Viet coffee, and pho again. The BBH and bun rieu? I’ve had better in the South Bay—whole different league, to be honest.
They have variety, and they are different from other vietnamese restaurants. The price and food quality are fair, and one last thing, the bowls are not plastic, which is a positive with hot soups.

Apparently people love this place, but my five spice chicken came cold, as if it had been sitting out or prepared for someone else. The "pot stickers" were different from the ones I had at other establishments, but they were still ok.
We went to Chinatown in SF specifically for true authentic Asian cuisine. What we got instead was acute and sever food poisoning. This place was recommended so went decided to give it a try. It was not very clean, it was dark and loud inside. We had our meal and honestly have had much better at home in SC. Later that night I had to take my wife to the emergency room for food poisoning. Ruined part of our vacation. I would avoid this place at all cost
