Dog friendly, outdoor garden seating, on site parking, friendly staff and great food to name the few of amazing things from this establishment. We had the garlic shrimp, chips and salsa, the tacos (replaced carnita with fish), and some horchata & beer with our food. Food was outstanding, sea food or as they write it Si Food was fresh! 🔥 🔥 I have plans of becoming a regular here! ❤️
I went there for lunch. It was my first time there. The place is so beautiful and the food was so delicious. I had the enchiladas with cheese and rice. The employees were so very nice. The place was so clean. I will be going back soon. I would give you 10 stars ✨ if I could. Thank you for such a delicious meal. My name is MARY Omnes.
So this was my second time here. This time I went with a coworker for a quick bite before our next meeting!! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and exceptional service. The gentleman that took our order was wearing all black today 11/14/24!! This guy is super awesome as he was the only one in the kitchen and he was doing a great job cooking and didn't even look at me weird when I asked for cheese on my tacos!! The food was great the ambiance was great the service was above grade all done by one dude!! Well done sir!! Last but not least they have Raider tables on the outdoor Patio!!!! Off top this a a 5star restaurant in my book!!
We've been going there for 8 years and the food, drinks, service and atmosphere are consistently amazing. The food is truly excellent, they use really good tortillas and the fish is always fresh and perfectly seasoned. They put a lot of work making the atmosphere of the outdoor patio so relaxing. It gives us a break from the world. Thanks to all the people working there, you folks are incredible!
Excellent Mexican seafood with a nouvelle touch in a quirky environment. Al fresco dining or take out, the food is what counts. There are two buildings here, one is the kitchen (to the right), the other is for pick up or indoor dining but everyone was eating outdoors. Service was quick and efficient, the staff really nice. Prices very reasonable. Whatever your favorite seafood is, try their take on it. This is not your father's Mexican food.
I have been to this place several times the past few months and will continue coming back. The taco plate special is delicious and I get posole and salad. The posole is loaded with tasty chunks of meat and the red chili sauce is wonderful. The salad has tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and is fresh and crispy. The tacos are wonderful too. The plate is colorful, healthy and delicious. A great place to eat with great atmosphere. You will not be disappointed!
Great Mexican seafood inspired restaurant. While seafood is their specialty, they have plenty of traditional Mexican dishes on the menu. We had the 7 Mares seafood stew. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to receive because it's made from scratch. The stew was excellent with shrimp, mussels, fish and octopus in a tomato broth. Served with tortillas and onion/cilantro on the side. Very filling and fantastic taste.
Super friendly, casual and very tasty! Ahi, halibut and salmon tacos were excellent. Indoor or outdoor seating - all good. Price is right. Easy parking. Outstanding. Can't wait to go again - in theory to try some other dishes... but those tacos are so good... decisions, decisions.. :)
For a seafood restaurant in the middle of San jose, this place actually does hit the mark on great Seafood tacos. I got the trio sampler which consisted of chorizo, halibut, and salmon, and all of it was terrific. The Halibut was fried batter on it and it tasted amazingly crisp. Service was alright, I can tell the main cashier was short stand and going back and forth, but I would give him the benefit of the doubt for trying. I definitely will be coming back for more great Mexican seafood.
I love their fish tacos. The place has a fun quirky vibe. My friend ordered a vegetarian dish and she was very happy with it too.
I got lucky to find this place on my business visit to San Jose. You never know what you are going to get when trying a new restaurant. Dia de Pesca did not disappoint. Tostadas de ceviche were amazing! And the camarones al mojo were divine! I definitely recommend this place if you are craving some delicious Mexican food! I wish I would’ve taken moré photos before I was done with my meal!
I've been on a lucky roll lately for picking good places where I've never been before. Our dentist moved, and they're now near here, so me and my kids had lunch here today. Fantastic! Ok, I decided to get the salad and pazole to be different. The guy said the pazole was like Mexican soup. Nope. The way that they make it here, is more like a beef stew. 😁 The salad wasn't just an excuse of a salad as a side dish, but had real green lettuce, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Another nice surprise. I also got the 3 taco special, and that was really good too. Very tasty all around. The food came quick, and the service was great. Hopefully we can make it back before our next dentist appointment. 👍👍👍
If you're thinking about it, GO HERE. We came during a street taco special with 1 halibut, 1 asada, 1 tilapia taco, rice, and Pizole. My partner got chicken street tacos. Everything was delicious, the margs were excellent, their patio atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff were friendly and delivered excellent service! If there were 6 stars to give, they'd get them all.
These are some of the best tacos in the South Bay. I forgot how large they are, and 4 was too many! This last visit I had salmon, octopus, carnitas and chorizo tacos. The carnitas was pretty dry, but the other 3 were on point. I love the variety, the flavors, and the only complaint is that occasionally certain meats are too dry. Depends on the day. But I always leave satisfied.
If you’re looking for the best sí food, this is your place! We’ve been coming here for five years and the food has anyways been fresh and exploding with flavor. There’s a wide range of amazing margaritas and the guacamole is made fresh daily. My favorite is the grilled halibut chimichanga (pictured) and I highly recommend it. Indoor/outdoor seating and when’s there’s big games on, you can enjoy great food along with that game.
I was kind of confused where to go to order/pay, but got very good service from the gentleman who took my order. I went with the crab burrito and thought it was a good value and had plenty of flavor! I was very tempted to try their signature option of chicken with a special sauce but my first time here, with a name alluding to fishing, I had to go with seafood. No regrets!
I used to come here a lot between 2015 and 2017, and now in 2023 I’m happy to know Dia de Pesca is still as good. Always a fan of the halibut tacos and burritos, specially the breaded halibut burrito. Tilapia tacos were also great. Also tried the salmon tacos for the first time and they weren’t as good as the other tacos but still pretty descent.
I've been eating here since they opened almost 20 years ago and it's just a good now as it was the day they opened. They use high quality ingredients and som to please. While everything in the menu is sure to please, I always get a seafood burrito ranging from prawn, crab, octopus and scallops to tilapia or the delicious breaded halibut. Eat it, enjoy it, love it..... go now!
What a great place. We enjoyed both seafood dishes we ordered. The ingredients tasted fresh and the cooking and sauces respected those ingredients. For example, the shrimp/prawns dish with a red pepper sauce had tender prawns and a wonderful complex spicy flavor. The tacos with crab had both a pico de gallo sauce and a creamy spicy sauce that blended together and yet you could still taste the lump crab. It was a very light tasting dish. Most Mexican style restaurants have so much salt in their food that is all you can taste, except peppers. Here, the dishes really pull all the flavors together in a tasty way. We will be back.
If you love seafood tacos and Mexican style shrimp/seafood cocktails this is the place to go when in San Jose. The outside dining area is casual and very welcoming with lots of palms, flowers and shade. The specials are very good. I recommend the taco plate specials. My favorites are snapper, salmon or halibut. We are never disappointed.
Enjoy the yummy fish tacos with family, friends, and co-workers at Dia de Pesca. They have Italian sodas, fresh fruit drinks, beer, and other sodas. They have a decent selection of seafood. Taco sizes are large and filling. Outside seating is nice with tiled mosaic tables and chairs beautifully decorated or you can eat inside. Food and drinks are not cheap here but the food is good. They accept cards and cash.
We ate here on a whim while waiting to check in to our hotel, and we were not disappointed! The staff was incredibly friendly, taking time to explain the menu and even gave us a drink sample. We ended up getting a few of their tacos which were delicious and very filling. My favorite was the coconut prawns. The drinks were also very fresh, and the atmosphere on the patio was delightful. If we end up near San Jose again, we would definitely go back!
The food was delicious and fresh, and the portions were generous. We ordered The breaded halibut taco, octopus taco, and the taco sampler with breaded salmon, fried coconut shrimp, and chicken chorizo. The breaded halibut was SO crispy even after being smothered in sauce and covered with lettuce and salsa--would definitely recommend! Loved the salmon, shrimp and octopus tacos as well--the chicken taco was great but we came for the seafood 😋 there is a patio area and the tiled tables were very pretty!
So cute!! Has a nice outdoor patio like space in their large parking lot that's decorated well and authentic like. Really creates a good vibe and felt so chill. You order the food inside and wait outside for them to bring it out to you. The margaritas are amazing, cold brew horchata was good, and their taco sampler was great. Would 100% come back for the awesome environment and food!
We saw this on check please tv show. Wow did not disappoint. The food was amazing and very fresh I have to say best calamari we have ever had. Great tacos as well my husband had the coconut prawns he said fantastic. This we’ll be our New Mexican food place to go. Loved the patio dinning. Service was also great.
The food is always fresh and made to order. Lots of fish options, and they have a selection of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Dia de Pesca is one of our favorite spots. The seafood chimichangas with shrimp and crab are so good, crispy and full of flavor. The quesadillas are super cheesy and always hit the spot. The vibe there is really chill and perfect for relaxing. We keep coming back and always leave happy 🦀❤️😋
I met some sisters here. We sat inside. It was quiet and on a Monday. The food was tasty. I ordered a grilled hali taco and that was gooood. We drank chavelas rimmed just right. Chips n salsa and prawns were on the table. Prawns were served to perfection. The service was to our liking such as picking up the dirty dishes and cups and not interrupting our girl talk. We ordered and paid for our food and drinks at the counter and they were brought to our table. I highly recommend and I will definitely return.
Amazing food service and atmosphere I love that it's mostly outdoor seating and absolutely everything I've ordered is always fresh and delicious! This is one of my go to spots where I bring friends esp if someone says sea food :) and hey don't sleep on those margaritas either!!
Omg I have passed by this place many times. Thought nothing of it. While dashing in the area I've also picked up orders here. Once again Thought it looked OK. But today I was wrong. Its is a great place to eat. From adult drinks 🍸 to Mexican drinks just tasty. There are no fountain drinks but offer Pepsi products in bottles or can and I believe but could be wrong they had Mexican coke. The prices are very reasonable. You don't feel ripped off. There is a wait time it took 15 to 20 min to receive our food but the chips and salsa kept us satisfied. Now there chips and salsa mmmm chefs 👩🍳 👨🍳 kiss. Perfectly fried and also had that toasted flavor 😋 with the fresh salsa dices and mixed just right. Not hot at all so every one can enjoy it. If u want it hotter u can always add hot sauce to it that are on the table. The portions u get are perfect just enough to have left overs . They know how to make Mexican food. Must be the reason why they are packed every day. So please come to this little humble Mexican restaurant you'll be glad u did.
Five stars all the way! Based on the decor, food choices and quality. Service was with a smile... you order at the counter, get a number, and they bring the food to you. They have inside and covered outside seating. The music was kind of loud outside. And a parking lot that holds maybe 8 cars or so. The fish tacos and burritos are awesome! I personally like grilled fish, not battered like most taquerias make them, and Dia de Pesca makes them both ways! Also the carne asada taco was delicious. I didn't see any salsa bar, but I didn't ask. They do have a set of hot sauce on each table if you want some spice. Definitely going to try more food here.
Dia De Pesca is a fantastic Mexican restaurant, and their outdoor seating is a major highlight. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny day and have a nice conversation while savoring their delicious food. I’m especially a fan of their vegetarian burrito—packed with flavor and always fresh. The restaurant is just three minutes from my work, making it my go-to lunch spot. Their hot sauce is another standout; it’s the perfect complement to any dish. If you’re looking for great food and a relaxing atmosphere, I highly recommend checking out Dia De Pesca!
Awesome place, awesome vibe, awesome food We really loved the street tacos, the people were super nice as well! Place has nice and happy Mexican vibes! Nice menu many options too! It is very close to the valley fair as well! Beautiful outdoor area! Cleanness: clean Seating: indoor and patio Menu: many options Price: super fair People: very nice Food: very good Noise: unless there are a gang of brats sitting there does not seem like a noisy place! Parking: about 8ish spots in think and on street parking too!
Been hearing good things, finally got to try it out. Had a three taco special, two breaded fish and one carnitas. The largest juiciest pork taco ever! Sauce and cabbage was fresh. Restaurant has a great vibe, nice outdoor eating and clean bathroom. Also has a full bar and coffee menu, I didn’t sample.
Solid margaritas Great fish tacos Wonderful staff. Will be back Outdoor area is great to unwind at the end of the day.
The trailer that served as kitchen for many years is gone. In its place are heavy cement benches and tables that are placed in the outside patio. Although visually appealing, this furniture made of concrete and reebar does not make for the most comfortable of seating. Service is nice and easy. You can have a tequila, beer or espresso with your order of fish tacos. The outside music is a bit too loud for having a relaxing lunchtime conversation. The inside seating is clean and up to date. Great place to take your classic ride or motorcycle as the patio is next to their parking lot, which makes keeping an eye on your wheels easy as flan.
Good food and helpful staff. Service was fast. Very nice patio area gives a sense of coziness even though the restaurant is facing a busy street I had the halibut taco, and it was a decent size The drinks look good but unfortunately I didn't have the occasion to try Update: we had some vegetarian fare this time round. The veggie chimichanga was nice and huge! Maybe shareable. The veggie quesadilla was also above average.
The decorations are charming, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that transports you straight to the heart of Mexico. The menu is a seafood lover's dream, offering a great variety of fresh options. We have tried three tacos-sea bass, tilapia, and octopus. The portion size of the tacos is definitely generous, making it a great value for the price. All of them are amazing, especially the octopus! It was cooked just right. We also had a small chicken quesadilla. The chicken is perfectly charred and complemented by a side of deliciously creamy guacamole and zesty salsa. Together, they create a perfect balance of textures and tastes.
How have I not written a review for you his place?! I've been coming to Dia de Pesca for ages... This place is a local legend. It's always in the conversation for top five places to get seafood in San Jose. I've seen this place progressively evolved from the little mobile food stand with makeshift outdoor seating to a full-fledged restaurant. Good for them! The layout is still very quirky, I'm just glad the food is still good. I haven't gotten anything bad here, and I hope it continues to stay that way. #Sifood: ~ Enchiladas w/ SiFood (Pulpo) - 4.5/5 Basically a perfect plate of Enchiladas. I think I picked the wrong SiFood tho... I should have gotten Shrimp instead. Nothing wrong with the Octopus, it just needs more of it. ~ SiFOOD Grande Burrito (Scallops) - 4/5 The Burrito was very good, I just feel like Scallops was the wrong choice. It would have been perfect if the scallops were cut into smaller pieces and distributed evenly throughout the burrito. But as it was, I'd get one bite with a bunch of Scallop meat and then several other bites without any Scallops. ~ Chips & Salsa - 4/5 Tasty. Just a solid Chips & Salsa. ~ Agua Fresca: Cucumber & Lime - 4/5 Not a common flavor. refreshing during these toasty summer days. So glad it's not too far from me...
The flavors of the food served here have been developed well. I would definitely recommend the taco sampler, and the fried whole tilapia. The deep fried tilapia was seasoned well, and a lot of love went into the tacos. The drinks were blended well, and the setting was cozy. There were quite a few condiments on the table. The staff were friendly, but they could improve the speed of their service.
We went here for Lunch and the place is very neat, It has different plants and outside seating. We ordered the veggie tacos and a carnie burrito. The veggie taco was very good , but the burrito had hardly any meat or other items , It was full of rice . The portions are very big but the quality was not that good. Perhaps next time I will order something else.
Authentic (as far as I can tell) tacos and burritos served in a very relaxed atmosphere. I am a big fan of their fish tacos which are never enough. My son tried the super burrito with beef and he swears it is one of the best he’s ever had. Try their Guacamole with chips. Currently they only offer takeout and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking is available in their parking and on the street
Interesting decor, with separate food truck kitchen, not a lot of indoor seating, but nice outdoor seating area. Limited parking. Service was good, friendly. The dishes in general were pretty good, fresh ingredients. The shrimps had good flavors and quality. The fish in the taco, though tasted ok, was kind of cold. The beans were too salty and the seafood in the soup was overcooked. The mengo margarita was light on the alcohol.
It's the first time I've visited this place. Nothing spectacular is a good place to have a quick/easy breakfast or lunch, without complications, and good food. I had the breakfast burrito without cream or meat (came with a tasty tomatillo sauce) just eggs, homemade potatoes & cheddar cheese, and guava agua fresca (not as good as I expected, it's made of concentrate, not homemade, and the taste is a little weird, definitely not guava. My friend had Copa de camaron y pulpo (prawn & octopus coctel in a tasty tomato garlic broth) and the tasty and traditional "SANGRIA SENORIAL" soda (trust me, try this soda, is the best!)
Came on a Friday mid afternoon. 1st time here. Service was welcoming and friendly. Wasn’t super hungry so order 2 tacos a la carte . Unfortunately both came drowning in sauce - taste of the fillings were masked. Was looking forward to tasting the freshness if the fish since seafood is suppose to be their specialty. Unfortunately the overdose of sauce made it impossible to taste the crunch or the fish. All I taste is the sauce. Oh well at least the service was good. The food - not so much. PS the outdoor patio is a nice touch.
They use to have this lavender lemonade 🍋 it was so delicious. I got shrimp tacos, I wish it had more flavor. Sauce was good
Bad service here today. I ordered my food online and then they called me to tell me what I ordered online is unavailable. So then I go in to pick up my online order after I changed it over the phone with them.I spoke to the lady after arriving to the restaurant and gave her my name., she said it wasn't ready. So then she comes out with food and it's sitting there for ten minutes. Looks at me places it down on the counter and doesn't tell me.It's mine. I then get up to go look because I have been waiting there for a while. And it has my name on it. So I just grabbed my food and left. Extremely unprofessional.
Really nice staff and the restaurant was cute and super clean. Ordered 3 different types of fish tacos and was bummed because there was far more cabbage than fish and it overwhelmed the flavors of the seafood. The guacamole was good and th salsa was pretty standard. The search for a great fish tacos continues.
The inside is tiny the outside is nice. I went around 10:30 am on a week day. There was 1 person eating when I arrived an 2 more by the time I left. The services was okay. I ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito. Personally I don’t like the yellow shredded cheese in my burritos. The salsa an my over all experience was just okay. Don’t think I’ll be back
The chips are good. Outdoor seating is amazing. Based on these two early signs we were really excited for food. Food was shockingly bad. So terrible, none of it had any taste. We ordered veggie tacos and seafood soup and both had zero taste. Must be some kind of preserved post apocalyptic food. Very disappointing. Go here to have a drink and chips on their outdoor patio, dont get any food!
Carnita and asada taco was not great, the meat was dry and not very flavorful. Frijoles was cold and dry. Credit cards are charged an extra 4%. And they forgot to make the margarita we ordered. And when it did show up, it looked too clear, and tasted like watered down margarita mix and tequila. None of it was worth the price, could get better Mexican food for lot lot less.
Not much to say, really. Bland food (ceviche tostadas and fish tacos), mediocre service. The prices they charge are not admissible when the tortillas are clearly supermarket bought, and not a good brand. They'll even charge for totopos that are directly taken from a large family sized bag. Any hole in the wall place can do better than this.
Not sure how it got 4 stars. This place is a rip-off. Prices are expensive. They charge 4% if you pay with a card and don't have a sign that says so, so you have no choice when you're in front. No free chips and salsa as with usual Mexican places. Water is lukewarm. Ordered two tacos and shrimp in buttery sauce. Meats don't taste good. Shrimp is okay but not worth $17.25. Ordered margarita but they forgot the first time. Doesn't taste good, disgusting actually. We only had 1/5 of the way and couldn't finish it.
I was so excited for this place, but unfortunately, it was not as good as I thought. The food had no taste, and the service was bad. one of our friends couldn't continue eating her taco after just one bite due to its overwhelming spiciness. The spiciness of the food was not mentioned on the menu or told to us by the server. Adding to the disappointment, the server accidentally spilled water on the table, but she didn't even apologize, and it took her a long time to come and clean it. By the time she arrived, we had already cleaned everything ourselves. Overall, considering the high prices, I believe there are better seafood Mexican options available elsewhere.
I had high hopes for this place. Called to reserve for a party of 8. The waitress was very distracted, our order came out at different times. Some of us were almost done w our food by the time others got theirs. Also, the burritos come w a free drink but they don't tell you that when you get there. So, we ordered drinks, and them she said you get drinks w your burritos but NOT the kinda we were already drinking. So unorganized and chaotic. One of the servers, came to ask us what our table # was!? Idk, I don't work here 😕 ... will never be back. Food was too spicy , even after asking for no chile.
We were the only customers of two guests. First the cashier lady charged me double plates and she had to give me back refund. My plate of chilaquiles came out dry, they brought the egg out after I was halfway done eating and my side never came out and I asked the waitress three times. She didn’t came out with it till the plate was done. N when she brought the side she FINALLY brought out the drinks. This place slow on set and food is low quality. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t come back. Worst $90 I spent to eat.
The food is always good. This review is for the customer service. I write this to share safety concerns in hopes the establishment will make changes to ensure the safety of their guests. Today, while waiting for my family’s food, I wanted to get situated by making room for my daughter’s high chair in the patio seating area. Since they had children’s high chairs, I assumed that the tables and chairs might be movable to accommodate the high chair-despite them being cement. Within seconds of attempting to move the bench, it had completely fallen apart. I didn’t think it would have abruptly collapsed the way it did being cement benches. If anything, they would have been very difficult to move but with one nudge, the seating collapsed. When we reported the incident to the woman at the front counter, she accused us of breaking it on purpose and trying to cover it up. I expected a different response to a situation that could have potentially caused injury to my family. A bench abruptly collapsing with a nudge should not happen at any restaurant establishment. It was a very rude interaction. I would have expected a manger to come out and check on its customers and show some kind of concern. Instead we were completely ignored. Feeling dissatisfied with her lack of response and rudeness, I went back in to express my concern once again. The woman at the front acted like we didn’t exist. She sat there with her colleague eating food as I stood there waiting to get help. Luckily, a very nice staff member listened to my concern and mentioned that other guests had attempted to move seating in the past and had an incident far worse than mine. In moving forward, I was advised to never attempt to move seating as they will collapse. That was evidence for me to understand that customer safety is not a concern. Other evidence of this was a broken bench placed off to the side in the patio area in plain view. Maybe it’s common sense to not move seating with that type of material. In that moment, I was only thinking of caring for my family and their needs-not potential dangers as I assume the restaurant is in compliant with safety standards. If the restaurant has been aware that guests have attempted to move seating and unsafe incidents occur as a result of it, it is the responsibility of the establishment to take prevented measures for those of us who don’t have common sense-maybe a sign saying “Don’t attempt to move seating, it may collapse on you causing bodily injury.” I hope the owners/manager see this review and is encouraged to make changes that will ensure the safety of its customers. Also, it would be nice if the woman at the counter provided costumer service that matched the quality of the food.
