Opinions de EMC Seafood & Raw Bar San Jose
I really liked the food. The salmon fried rice was simple but well prepared, and the creme brulee had a really nice vanilla kick. Good portion sizes and nice atmosphere, especially for the outdoor seating in the heart of Santana Row.
Situated in the very cool Santana Row, this experience has much to offer for seafood lovers of raw and cooked items. The sides are excellent as well. The service is great with very attentive staff. The Happy Hour offers great discounts on their very tasty food and fun beverages. Affordable parking is available in the nearby Winchester Garage. Get There Soon!!
Happy hour was really worth it here. Prices are very good and it is every day starting at 3PM. We didn’t have to wait for a table on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered food, and things came out very quickly. We ordered many items, and I enjoyed the truffle salmon roll, chicken wings, and garlic noodle the most. Garlic noodle serving was bigger than I expected. It fed the two of us, and we took some home. Salmon roll had quality salmon, and the truffle oil was nice touch. The chicken wings were the salt and pepper style wings. Can never go wrong with ordering these. Hot sake is $9 as well. The glass poured about 6 shots of sake. Well worth it.
The food is top 5 sushi spots I’ve been to but it’s the lychee martini that sells it for me. I have travelled across the USA three!!! Times so that I could have that drink. It is fantastic & hard to beat. I also love the traditional sake bombs & they have accommodated me every time even though they’re not on the menu. Service is incredible.
We popped into EMC (yep—Eat More Clams, if you didn’t know) for Sunday lunch, and wow, it delivered. The clam chowder was so rich and savory. It's the best we ever had! Garlic grilled oysters? Charred just right with that buttery punch. And the seafood pasta? We tried both sauces—sweet basil and creamy white wine—and couldn’t pick a favorite. Both were loaded with flavor and fresh seafood. Service was fast and friendly. We're definitely coming back for round two.
I tried EMC Sushi in Santana Row and had such a great experience! The sushi was extremely fresh and flavorful — you could tell the ingredients were top quality, and each roll was beautifully presented. The chefs clearly put care into both the taste and the presentation. The atmosphere at Santana Row is always so lively and vibrant, and EMC fits perfectly into that scene. It’s a great place to sit back, enjoy good food, and soak up the energy around you. We also ordered the garlic French fries, and they were honestly some of the best I’ve had — crispy, golden, and bursting with garlicky goodness. To end the meal, we went for the crème brûlée, and it was the perfect finishing touch. The custard was smooth and creamy, and the caramelized top had just the right crunch. It’s rare to find a place that does both sushi and dessert so well! Overall, EMC Sushi is a spot I’d definitely recommend for anyone visiting Santana Row — great food, great service, and a fun, relaxing atmosphere that makes you want to come back again soon.
Wow! I came here for the happy hour and our table was never empty. We kept ordering more and more food like we had a “hollow leg”. I loved the dishes that had truffle as fries and truffle salmon roll. There is plenty to choose from their happy hour menu. All staff members were very accommodating. Chris, our server, made our birthday celebration very special. We went on a Saturday, so there was a lot to see and hear when walking around The Row. Check out the all day happy hour on Monday and Thursday.
we came and grabbed $200 worth of appetizers and everything was good except the oysters. Got 2 or 3 bad ones which was disgusting. everything else tasted great.
Oyster were good. Small but still tasted fresh. Service was acceptable. Outdoor seating is nice and pleasant.
The food was good overall and the portions were pretty big. The service was ok, initially our server seemed annoyed later he was better but never felt friendly but more curt. I saw the server for the next table was friendly. We got a lobster roll which was ok, the lobster tasted ok and but very fresh but still enjoyable. I got a truffle, crab garlic noodle which was good. The garlic bread was ok.
Went here for happy hour and had great drinks that were super reasonably priced, especially for Santana Row, and had some good bites. The food was pretty good, but the oysters weren't cleaned super well, but otherwise we enjoyed the food. We will definitely be back to try other food items and drinks because they have happy hour every day which is rare.
We stopped by EMC for happy hour, planning to have dinner, but our friend was running pretty late, so we just enjoyed some mocktails and a few cold appetizers. Everything was fresh and tasty, but the friendly service really stood out. The team was cheerful and polite—a great crew working together. The vibe is super chill and relaxed, great place for a group of friends after work. It had been a while since I’d been here, and this visit reminded me to come back more often.
I had walked past EMC Seafood numerous times and finally decided to give it a try. The food exceeded my expectations, and their guava margarita pitcher was generously portioned, easily serving the three of us. The salmon fried rice was also exceptional. Overall, the food and service were decent for the price. If you're unsure where to eat in Santana Row, consider giving this place a try.
Nice seafood restaurant with cooked and raw seafood options. Others have complained about the quality of the food and service, but we had no issues. Fried oysters were crispy and not oily. The crab and truffle noodles are a better option than the uni pasta, in my opinion. Seafood pasta portion was on the small side, but pretty good none Prices are on the higher side, but it's Santana Row, so don't expect budget dining. EMC seafood is a nice upscale restaurant to take your significant other. You'll have a nice time there.
"Eat More Clams" is a very fusion restaurant offering fresh seafood. We came during"happy hour" and ordered lots items from that menu. The "happy hour" oysters were very fresh and tasty, definitely the best deal in the whole menu. The steams clams and mussels were cooked just right and came out juicy with great flavors. Fish tacos and fried calamari were okay. We were all happy with the "happy hour" orders. We then ordered the two popular pasta dishes, uni and crab. Unfortunately, they were both very disappointing, the noodles were way too soft. With the kind of prices they charged, the pasta also had no substance, definitely not worth it. Services were great! If you can, come during "happy hours"!
Excited for a later happy hour (shout out for having it til 6pm), but the experience was meh overall. The service is always a struggle, having to ask for our drink (singular) multiple times as well as one of our dishes that took ages to come out. The drink itself was great (a spicy Bloody Mary), and the food was mixed. The sushi rolls were fine - not great, not terrible. Generally, a good amount of meat and didn’t overdo it on the rice amount, but nothing overly fancy or flavorful. The show stopper was the dry rub wings. Six wings, and they were massive. SO flavorful, juicy, super crunchy, and totally worth the double fry. Some of the happy hour items are a good deal, while others aren’t, it’s a mix. Just go in with minimal expectations and you’ll be fine.
I recommend going elsewhere on Santana Row. I had oysters and the branzino; my friend had the salmon. Oysters were good. But our main dishes, we agreed, were quite flavorless. We left disappointed. The price is also pretty outrageous for what we got. It came to ~$90 per person. Overall this is not a place I'd recommend. To make matters worse, we both fell ill a few days later. While I can't say for sure it was from our dinner at EMC, I suspect it was.
Uni Pasta It is creamy with house-made pasta that had a great texture. Definitely a standout dish! Manila Clams It cooked with white wine, butter, and bacon. I couldn’t taste the wine and felt like they added a bit too many herbs. It wasn’t my favorite dish. Food was on point, but unfortunately, the service didn’t quite live up to the quality of the dishes. It wasn’t bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
We went there on a Thursday for lunch right when they were opening. Outside table was perfect with the sun and cool weather recently. Both of us got a couple of cocktails which were decent. Food were decent for the price and good flavors. Unfortunately our service was missing during our whole meal. Other than when they dropped off our items we did not see anyone. No one refilled our water or asked if we wanted another drink. Also it is cheap for them to use Chinese take out chopsticks. They could class it up with some nice chopsticks. Probably won't go back to this place.
Updated (Oct 2022) I used to like this place but my recent visits were disappointing and I don’t think I’ll come back. -Food: 3 out of 5. ordered ten raw oysters (4 different kinds) and they weren’t fresh and there’s too many small oyster shell bits and I had to spit out. (see the photo). Uni pasta was still good. -Service: 1 out of 5. After ordering and waiting for 15 min, we ended up walking inside the restaurant to find our server to ask if he can at least get our drinks out first. Restaurant wasn’t busy and he was counting his tips at the moment (seriously?). He just nodded and that was all. When he finally served beer, he didn’t even try to explain why things were so delayed or apologize, just left right away. All the other tables outside were also trying to find the waiter. - overall: not worth $130. Food is mediocre and overpriced just because it’s on santana row and servers are far from being professional. ———— Loved their uni pasta: creamy, and right amount of salt! Goes well with seaweed as always. Smoked oysters were good too.
We had a reservation, but after being seated we waited about 10 minutes with no server coming by to greet us or explain the menu. We eventually had to order from another server, and only then did our assigned server finally show up. The food was very disappointing. We ordered the uni pasta, and it tasted extremely fishy. The uni was clearly not fresh and was honestly inedible. Service timing was also a major issue. We ordered cocktails and sushi and waited over 40 minutes. It turned out that our first server probably missed ordering those two items. During that time, I noticed a sushi plate sitting on the counter for at least 10 minutes. I only took photos after realizing how long it had been sitting there. A server briefly took the plate away and then brought it back, which was very concerning. They later attempted to serve that same sushi to us, but we refused because I had already seen it sitting out for more than 20 minutes. When we left the restaurant, the sushi plate was still there. I have no idea what eventually happened to it, but the situation raised serious concerns about food safety and handling. Overall, between the poor service, long waits, and questionable food quality, this was a very disappointing experience.
1 star – Hostess behavior ruined a family birthday dinner This review is specifically about the hostess, Irene, whose behavior completely ruined my mother-in-law’s birthday dinner and left my two young children upset and afraid. Most importantly, she attempted to take my wife’s cell phone out of her hands while my wife was seated at the table. That should never happen to a customer. We brought our family (my wife and I, our two children under 7, and my mother-in-law, who is over 75) to EMC Seafood to celebrate her birthday, which we noted in our Resy reservation. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were told to return at our reservation time, despite an empty table being available. When we returned, we were seated at that same table—meaning our kids and elderly family member waited outside in the cold unnecessarily. We were placed at a table directly by the entrance with constant foot traffic and cold air from the door. Not ideal for small children or a senior. I later noticed a cushioned booth farther back and politely asked whether we could move. Irene said it was reserved for seven people. A few minutes later, she seated a party of four there. The most serious incident occurred shortly after. My wife took a photo near the entrance. Irene appeared to believe she was in the photo and, without warning, approached from behind and attempted to take my wife’s iPhone out of her hands while she was seated. Irene then demanded that the photo be deleted and threatened to call the police. This all happened in front of our two children (ages 5 and 7), who became visibly upset and frightened. Threatening police involvement over a photo and attempting to take a customer’s personal property—especially in front of young children—is completely unacceptable. I asked to speak with a manager, and Irene stated that she was the manager on duty. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm and should be visible on security footage. To be fair, the food was good, which makes the experience even more disappointing. We ordered the Hokkaido scallop, grilled shrimp tacos, fries with truffle and mushroom aioli, baked scallop roll, shrimp tempura roll, garlic noodles, and a whole charred branzino. Everything tasted good, and we especially enjoyed the fries and the branzino. The servers were professional and kind, including promptly helping when a drink was accidentally spilled. Unfortunately, the hostess’s conduct overshadowed everything else. We left remembering the confrontation, not the meal. EMC Seafood could be a good restaurant, but no guest should ever experience this kind of behavior during a family celebration. Management and ownership should take this incident seriously.
Tables are empty but the host Marisa refuses to give a table when we showed up early for our reservation. When I questioned why she is not letting us sit if the table has been available for the last 25 minutes, she decided to seat two people on a table of 4 when there were 2-3 two people tables were open. Mind you this is when it was actually the time of our reservation. She then said you have to sit outside as we have no table inside. We had to take it to the manager and he got us a table inside. Never again!
