Opinions de Panera Bread San Ramon
Panera is our go to fast food. Everyone in our family loves the bread bowls, they have branched out and added a few new items to the menu, we didn’t have great success yet with those. But I think they’re still tweaking them and getting them better.
This Panera is clean and efficient. The people are friendly. Food always good/fresh. I especially liked to hear the person putting the food in the bags (for pick-up) calling out and confirming the modifications to the orders to the food prep folks (i.e she would ask "no cheese on xyz sandwich?" and a food prep person would say "correct, no cheese on xyz sandwich". Good to know they are taking the time to get the order right. With so much 'take out' most of us have got home with the meal only to find out something is wrong with the order.
Panera has great people working for them very nice almost like the In-N-Out Burger the food's pretty good and I'm on the Sip Club so you can get one drink a day or one drink every 2 hours something like that but it's really it's really good I work out of town so whenever I need to pick me up I just get a drink and it's it's only 1299 or 12 something a month so look underwear it's on the app on the mobile app
Great experience. I enjoyed my sandwich, soup and cookie. The staff are very friendly. I would recomend to anyone who wants to indulge themselves to a nice lunch. I would definitely return if i was in the area.
Three of us went to lunch at the San Ramon Panera. Nichole was so helpful and sweet to us. I will never forget her kindness. I had the Asian chicken salad. It was delicious.
Great cafe and great people working inside!
Good quality food, decent price for the location, friendly staff. Their app is very good and I used that to offer my lunch. The order will be ready a few minutes before expected time
I went here and the staff are really nice and helpful, the food was good, and the wait for the food wasn't long at all.

Have been here four (4) times over the past three weeks and found consistent excellence. The bagels may not be "Noah's Bagels" size, but are always fresh and tasty, even into the late afternoon. I've also enjoyed two soups here, the onion (good stock as the base) and the 'creamy tomato', a personal favorite The soups are served hot...as in blow on to cool a little...and offered with chips, apple or a chunk of fresh baguette...I recommend the latter. Good coffee, outstanding service, usually clean bathrooms and an inviting place to rest for a while...oh, and wifi that can be a blessing or a bane,
Good product. They're semi automated like most other corporate coffee houses. Miss interacting with real humans ...
I order a combo lunch. Perfect sizing for one and great pricing. I love panoramic food, always fresh and tasty.
My favorite place for a coffee and bagel . The pleasure multiplies when I go here with my kid and have a WE time. He likes the red and green lemonade
Food was surprisingly great. The pick 2 deal is the way to go so you can get a sandwich and salad/soup etc... the crowd is quiet and respectful. Only complaint is cleanliness. For the most part its good, but the bathrooms could us some work.

Generally the staff is polite and helpful. Management obviously has a set pitch for the staff. When you ask for coffee in a mug, they still say for here or to go. Does the management mean for us to have a free mug to take home? Personally, I doubt it. The coffee is still marginally poor at best. Food is good and relatively quick. Would be a great place if they improved the coffee quality.
Nice place for a quick eat. Really really happy about the new kiosks. I usually just walk in, order stuff on the kiosk and find a table to sit. That is the level of convenience I like. Soups and Sandwiches are pretty good. the location is a bit hidden but that is not a con in any way.
Panera Bread is one of my favorite places to eat, especially for a quick lunch. I usually get the grilled cheese, but their menu has plenty of variety. The dessert for $0.99 when you get a meal is also very nice, and their smoothies are fantastic. There's rarely a line. But why is it always so crazy cold inside?! It makes it absolutely awful to sit there. I get goosebumps by the time I'm done eating. Sometimes the temperature makes you regret eating there in the first place.
The staff was very nice. The mac n cheese is my favorite! I am glad the cinnamon crunch latte is back. I got the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Sandwhich. It was delicious! I was bummed that the chicken was cold.
My food was good. They even reheated it for me after I got distracted and let it get cold. The crew was very pleasant and polite. And they refilled my drink with a smile. Will be returning very soon. Not to mention my freebie pastry as a member. It tasted great and not just because it was free!
I really like the food here, but don't call the service "service" . You order from the register, then you go pick up your own food, then you go find your own silverware, then you bus your own table. That is "self service" . And then the cashier stares at you while waiting to see if you are going to add a sizable tip to your order.
02.09.2024 Update: Stopped back in at this location around 7pm, while on the road for a cup of coffee & loaf of bread. They weren't busy. Fresh decaf coffee was available, which we appreciated. Almond milk was almost empty, had enough for over serving only. Tables looked clean, restaurant seemed more organized & in order this time. We'll stop by again another time & hope that the first encounter isn't the norm. Unless something is really awful with the food or service, I believe it's more fair to reassess with two or three visits and edit my rating accordingly. +1 star on atmosphere, food, & overall. Didn't see any employees this visit, so couldn't get more almond milk. 01.2024 First time we stopped in at this location in San Ramon. It was a busy time of day, we understand that. Food was prepared to go as requested. Employee at the counter where others are preparing salads, bowls, etc. was totally unhelpful. There was a stack of napkins on the counter bow within her reach. I said, "Could we please have some extra napkins?" and she said, "They're over there" pointing to the cold drink counter about 12 ft away. Not sure back why she couldn't just accommodate that simple request, but instead, I picked up a large bag, with 2 beverages, and my purse, and walked back over there to get more napkins after setting everything down. We're not lazy. It was just napkins. In front of her. Which is why we asked her in the first place. Food itself contained a large dollop of yogurt (Mediterranean bowl) though we didn't select yogurt on our bowl & have never had it with our meal in the past. We threw out a decent portion of our food because of this as we didn't have time to wait for them to remake it. Side baguette was yummy - chewy on the inside and crusty on the outside, but not too hard to chew as with prior baguettes. Sandwich with hummous was fresh, sparce on produce though we selected "extra" when ordering. Coffee was good, almond milk was available with no upcharge. Many tables needed to be cleared and wiped. Don't know why people don't take their dishes to the designated areas, but staff needs to wipe down tables, even when they're busy. Free parking lot with adequate spaces. Not far from 680 freeway.
We ordered a family feast with Mediterranean veg Sandwiches, quart of Tomato soup, Greek salad. Came with French Baguette. Separate Mediterranean veg soup as a bowl size that we ordered was very tasty. Sandwiches have just a small dab of hummus! It didn’t even taste like there’s something. They could have smeared a little more hummus. Baguette bread had some funny brown bag kind of smell. Soups and salad were yumm. It was a comfort and healthy meal for a family and not pricey. Order was nicely packed for pickup, but may be need better wrap for the baguettes. Curbside pickup option was well managed in this location.
Good service. Very clean and alot of seating inside and outside. The sandwich was ok. Maybe just little more turkey on my roasted turkey blt.
This is the first PB restaurant in which I was served soup with a plastic spoon and knife. I'm not sure that the plastic is intended for use with hot dishes. In addition, a plastic spoon terribly uncomfortable. I got only one napkin, which was under the plate. Usually they always bring 2-3. The food itself is normal, it was tasty, but quite uncomfortable to eat.

The food here is always good. Using the kiosks to order is quick and easy. Waiting in line can take awhile. Tables often have crumbs/food on them.
Just wanted someone to be aware that when you purchase food and tip, you would expect your food to look and taste good! So disappointed 2 of the sandwiches (French dip) looked like it was tossed on a piece of Ciabatta bread. One clump of meat very bland the Au Jus was like heavy French onion soup. All the hot food put in a bag and a cold salad put on top of hot food waiting for pick up. The salad should never been put on top of hot food!

I have been buying bagels here from the last 1 year. Our entire family is big fans for their bagels. I'm not sure what changed. Since the last two visits, chocolate chip bagels are very hard, like stones. Tried reaching store a couple of times to complain, but no one picked. Disappointed. I may have to find new place now... May be Noah's. any suggestions?
I actually come here semi often (maybe 2-3 times per month). This morning the cashier seemed frazzled. The man in front of me was trying to make small talk and wish her a good morning but she was acting like she was just trying to get through the couple people in line to start doing other stuff. I order a bagel, double toasted with cream cheese. Even says it on the receipt. However this doesn't look double toasted. I already got to work though and couldn't go back. The wait is pretty long when they first open. Even for something easy like a bagel. I waited 6 minutes for what I thought would be a double toasted bagel. There were only 2 other customers in the store.
Has curbside pickup during COVID. Remember to pull up to the curb directly and they will come out to deliver to you. Staff are wearing masks. 3 stars bc my sandwich was tasty, but very skimpy for Panera’s standards. The bread-to-substance ratio was probably 90-10. Usually Panera is 50-50 (lots of bread, but a fair amount of chicken/cheese, etc). Was still pretty hungry after the sandwich. Other people in my group also had similarly skimpy ratio. Maybe it was just this one Panera.

3 of us went Sunday May 5. We eat Panera once or twice a month. This particular day there was 4-5 kids working. I say kids because the eldest of the bunch had to no more than 22-23 years of age. My order was wrong, as was my mother-in-law's. Happens, right? The problem is, the employees were more interested in having fun than properly serving customers. The area where plates and bowls are returned to was stacked so high I could not sort what was left on my plate as I usually do.
Having worked in the food business I’ll share my observation for the employees and management… I arrived quite early at this Panera. I’m from out of town and will stop here each morning while I’m in town as I have on earlier trips. The staff is friendly, helpful and make a fantastic sandwich. There was a male employee sitting in a booth, likely on break, having a beverage. Unfortunately this gentleman was picking his nose quite vigorously totally unaware of what that might appear like to customers and, given the Panera logo on his cap, that he is representing Panera while wearing such. I’ll make the bold assumption that the company requires employees to wash their hands upon returning to the kitchen and/or their duties. Perhaps not every customer would do this and may, out of disgust, not return. Employees need to be kept aware of that representation and their behaviors.
2nd time eating at Panera. Would have been nice if the staff would have told the customer the drinks were self serve from an online order. Also Panera really need to take e-gift cards in stores on the registers, and not just only online. As someone with some levels of vision loss, placing the order was a pain.

Well I have Covid and am stuck in a hotel room and have to order my food as I have traveled here on business and no other resources to assist. So I ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. The food arrived hot except for the sandwich. The sandwich was $8.59 for grilled cheese but I ordered it cause I thought I could keep it down. Next was the soup. Panera Bread should really call this a cup of soup. This soup was another $8.49. The soup was mostly liquid, I think i had 3 chunks of chicken and a handfull of noodles. Should have just just ordered delivery from the story for two cans of Hearty Chicken noodle and would have had left overs and half the price. Then there was a delivery charge. Why are they charging a delivery charge when they also ask you to tip the driver? If the delivery money goes to the driver then why do I need to tip? Confused. My total order was $26 for a small cup of soup and a grilled cheese. Every time I try to give Panera Bread a new chance, I walk away with the same reasons I stopped ordering from there.
Great news menu, food was just ok, definitely slower/no service and felt overpriced dor the portion size, glad it was easy to park,
I love Panera so it was one of the first places I looked for when I moved to San Ramon, but I've been frustrated with this location. They never get my take out order right! I hate tomatoes on my salad and always have my order customized to take them out. Despite this, there are tomatoes on my salad every. time.
Generally good however the person who manages bagel production is asleep at the wheel. Several times the last few weeks they have been out of anything but plain bagels by 8am. They also give priority to online orders over people in the store which is not right. I am updating this and downgrading to two stars. The last 2 weeks they have been out of low fat cream cheese. How is it possible to be out for 2 weeks? Also their tables are very dirty and the finished rubbed off. They desperately need replaced.
Stopped by a few evenings ago to pick up dinner for my wife and in-laws after visiting my brand new nephew in the hospital. Ordered (4) of the "pick two" combos. Two of the four soups got missed, and didn't see it until we got back home. Came back to get refunded for the missed items; manager was polite and compliant, which is why this review is two stars and not one.
Good food, but my Mac and cheese bowl was barly hallowed out I ordered a large Mac and cheese and got less then the other person I was with who ordered a small!! Why!! Also last time I was here they brought a latte to the wrong table and said we could have it the person I was with took a sip and didint like it so they spit it back, then I brought it back and said we didint like it, 2 min later I see them bring the same latte to the table across from us( Ik it was the one she spit back in bc the way the napkin had been folded and spilled latte on the plate) GROSS. Good food but not very clean or well run
Bad customer service! Ok food quality. Not worth a wait though. I came in with a gift card and was never acknowledged. After a few minutes of being ignored. I finally found my way to the serve yourself computer but after three atempts to use a gift card. Which was the whole inspiration of the visit. After 10mins, No help, and no success on my own I left. Lunch break is time sensitive and I will never ever waste my time by going to Panera Bread. The morning coffee there is horrible anyhow. I want be missing much. And I’ll definitely be sending the gift card back to the donor.
Always dealing with someone new who doesn't quite seem to know what they're doing. I asked for Pepsi and got diet. I asked a second time and got diet. It came out of the regular Pepsi spot on the fountain so I guess someone loaded the wrong mixer in the back. I asked to have them check on this but got no follow up and eventually left. To their credit I did get my extra dressing on my salad. All the panera stores seem to have very poorly trained people. I just don't understand why it's such a challenge.
This was a lackluster visit. At 9am on a Saturday, they had 5 bagels left, most of which were plain.
Not well made and food was rather stale tasting.
During the pandemic, I ordered from here almost every week. Before the pandemic, I could count on my order being right every time. The location in San Ramon needs some help. The last 4-5 times I ordered, items were not as I ordered or items were missing completely. Make sure to check your order to make sure you got everything. Check for missing items or missing ingredients from your order. Sometimes they will not bother to tell you that they are out of something that you ordered and just leave it out. If I notice and go back to get it corrected, only then do they tell me and maybe offer an alternative. Picking up your food and taking it home without checking it first is a roll of the dice. I’ve resorted to ordering from the Dublin location instead and driving a few extra miles. They don’t seem to have the same issues in Dublin.
First timer. I was excited to get the strawberry chicken poppy seed salad. When we walked in we waited, unnecessarily (the were nearly empty), for almost 5 min before anyone greeted or asked us if we needed help. When I received my salad the lettuce was withered and turning brown. I approached the person who took our order to see who I would need to talk to. I was told to head towards the pick up /kitchen area. They remade a smaller version of the salad with clear less effort put into the presentation. According to the receipt, "Your order should be correct every time. If it's not, we'll fix it right away, and give you a free treat for your trouble. Just let an associate know." I did just that. Nothing was offered. Not even an apology for the quality of the food. I asked for the manager's name when I was leaving. The manager, Benjamin, was standing next to the young lady I asked. He looked up acknowledged his name, but never inquired as to what might have been happening.

The whole experience was very disappointing. The food was lower quality than microwave store bought food. The service was slow with 2 staff at one checkout (maybe they were training?), it was overpriced for what we got, and the atmosphere/decor/vibe was a bit like a Wendy's. Won't be coming back
It seems to becoming a trend that they sell out of items prior to even dinner hour. On this occasion I once again tried to purchase their new sandwiches and Panera a place known for their bread had run out by 3pm. I planned on buying all 3. I was informed they do not allow any substitutions on the bread so no sale. I was then informed that if I wanted to try I should show up in the morning for a lunch/inner sandwich. That even if I ordered on line in the morning for a afternoon pick up there would be no guarantee they wouldn't run out. If I didn't have gift cards to use I would not patron Panera's at all. The funny thing is, Panera's wonders why their stores are slowly closing. (Alamo store gone)
Mens bathroom was destroyed. Slow as can be. Food is very lack luster. Trash on the floor. Trash can overfilled. Its 830 am.. How is it this messy? Just changed my review from 2 stars to 1... They are out of mac and cheese ans cookies at 830am....
I had a corporate meeting at 3:00 PM , made sure everything thing was ordered ahead of time as planned. We even received email confirming our order was ready for pick up at 2:20PM. When we go to pick our order it was empty bag with receipt. When asked, they simply reply Ho May be they ran out of the items so they left empty bag. Seriously last minute. No proper answer and no curtesy as well to Inform ahead of time. Very disappointed 😢
Miscommunication between staff members seemed to have caused a a string of problems with the bakery running out of bread. Unable to complete several orders the team was having back track through the line to fix orders. The staff in the back were eating/drinking and texting on their phones while the manager and training cashier attempted to resolve the compounding issues. My family came in late for soup and we expected our order to be sage despite the chaos happening around us but we were wrong. Our order was missing items and the soups prepared wrong which lead us back to the counter with the exhausted manager who tossed a couple more soups into our bag and dismissed us. If the dining area was clean and on a better day I could imagine it's a nice Cafe to enjoy.
5 of us came in in the afternoon. Girl up front was nice. We ordered, payed and waited... and waited. Our buzzers never went off. When we figured out our food was ready two of the sandwiches had little to nothing in them. Our concerns didn't seem to concern them in the slightest. 50$ for 3 people with out drinks
Panera has become more of a miss lately. My recent order of two "You Pick Two" meals was disappointing. The toasted garden caprese sandwich had no greens at all—just melted cheese and two tomato slices. This is far from what I expected for $15, especially when Ike’s across the street offers a much better meal. To make matters worse, the complaint forms on Panera's website don’t work, and their customer service is unreachable. This isn’t the first time I’ve had issues with them. I’m done with this place.
