I was shocked by the amount of food on my plate. The chicken sausage was the size of a bratwurst. It was seasoned to perfection. Biscuits as tall as 2 hockey pucks. The coffee was second best only to my own brew. The staff is very efficient. 💯 Recommend this place.

I had an amazing dinner experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Tony and Gen were absolutely incredible-attentive,friendly,and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. They truly went above and beyond to make our evening special. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Huge thanks to Tony and Gen for making the night so enjoyable!
I had an amazing experience thanks to our server, Jesus, and the manager, Tony Romero. Jesus was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure everything we needed was taken care of quickly and with a great attitude. The service felt welcoming from the moment we walked in. Tony was also very professional and made sure everything ran smoothly. Together, they made our visit enjoyable and memorable. I will definitely be coming back because of their excellent customer service! We were a large party of 22 so this was a very good experience for our family!
Had dinner tonight with two of my daughters. The service from the time we got there till when we left was absolutely top notch. The food was freshly cooked and well prepared. Our cobbler we had for dessert was fantastic. This is definitely my new favorite restaurant and I can hardly wait to go back. Maybe tomorrow for breakfast!!
I always come here and they have exception dining services. The servers are amazing and always keep my cup full of whatever it is I’m drinking. Today I was served by Jesus, Janet and that’s not including the manager Tony! I brought my family of 15 and made it feel like if I was at home eating with family, thank you so much for their services and amazing food!!
I was kinda stressed from community college and I kinda had a bit of an attitude while eating but everyone who worked here was really nice. It's probably not a good idea to be a grumpy bear when you eat here. Thanks guys the food and service is great 🐻♥️

My oldest boys (16) found Black Bear Diner while we were driving from San Diego back to LA. He loves breakfast for supper so this hit the spot for him. The menu is expansive. He had the Cinnamon roll french toast, yummy, and I had the Pot Roast sandwich with red skin mashed potatoes (delicious). My little had a cute pancake shaped like a bear.

My husband and I have recently started frequenting this location and have always enjoyed the service, food, and experience that the Santa Ana Black Bear diner provides. This time, we were served by Violeta, who consistently checked upon us during our dining experience; providing coffee, smiles, and plenty of half and half! Pros: Black Bear Diner quickly became one of my favorite breakfast locations because of consistency and positive experience Violet creates for every patron she serves. On any given day when I want a high protein meal, I'll order the Shasta scramble and add bacon...on special occasions I'll eat the potatoes lol. Cons: The bacon is amazing but the cost is excessive... one could buy a pack of bacon at the store for what they charge for a side order🧐.
Great option for breakfast before heading to the airport! Stopped in a for a quick bite on a Saturday morning, had a BLT and some great coffee. Service was great can't wait to comeback again!

5 across the board! I’ve been coming here since they opened, I haven’t had a single bad experience. Though the faces of the teams have changed, the warm welcome and hospitality has not. Most recently, Martha. She was so sweet and patient- and always ready for more coffee! The food is excellent (chicken fried steak breakfast is a fave). Thanks for always being amazing Black Bear!

Our waiter Victor was the best of the best!! He was very polite and friendly, he made sure our family was happy and welcomed. He also made sure we always got what we asked for in a timely manner!! So glad we found this place near our hotel in Santa Ana. Great atmosphere, great service (thanks Antonio) and the food was so fresh and delicious. Not greasy, or over salted, just perfect. Everything was bear themed, so cute. Even the plates. All the servers were clean and well presented, the kitchen and serving area as well as the eating areas were super clean too. Just loved it. Very nice. Thank you from your Australian visitors.

Hubby loves this place! If you are into Huge, Black Bear is for you. The portions are ginormous. For example, a recent breakfast included 3 eggs, hash browns, chicken fried steak, fruit and pancakes. Some folks finish the whole thing all by themselves. Not us. We split it. The quality is kind of variable. Sometimes it's quite good, other times it's pretty average. It's a folksy place and the wait staff is always friendly. Waits can be out the door, but if you like chatting with your neighbors and the wait people, you'll love the counter. The counter is also super quick. While the quantity is there and there are some interesting offerings, there isn't much in the way of seasoning - most things taste the same and the calorie count is really really high. Hubby would eat here every weekend if he could. I would need a new and much larger wardrobe if I even thought about doing that.
