Opinions de Shoreline Beach Cafe Santa Barbara
Their salmon salad, nachos with chicken and shrimp and shrimp tacos are some of our favorite menu items. Great service and nice spot with beautiful ocean views. 🌊 Our server Ella was excellent, thank you!!
We just bumped into this awesome place. We live 2 hours away, we are on a little getaway for rest and relaxation and hung out on Leadbetter beach for awhile and then ordered some Fish, Shrimp and chips. Bella served us with true enthusiasm and even took a picture of us in front of the cafe. The food was delicious and we were treated like we had been there a million times before. Thanks for a great memory to keep forever.
This was a delightful find worthy of 5 stars for the service, on beach or behind glass dining areas, and excellent food. We felt menu item prices are right in line with other restaurants. We were immediately greeted by staff. You can order at a takeout counter or be seated in the cafe. Shoreline is at the end of a public beach so I imagine there might be times when parking could be a problem.
Sat on the open air, covered deck which is very nice - sometimes the wait for 'outside' (which is on the beach/sand specifically) is a little longer. Food is typical beach faire, but quite good. Parking in the pay lot for the beach.
Tasty food on the beach! Our waitress, Layla, was on point and welcoming. The basil vinaigrette is a must try for salad dressing as well as the olive oil garlic shrimp 😋
Fantastic location right on the beach. Really good breakfast here. 9am on weekdays. Totally worth it. Friendly service.
Really enjoyable to eat at a table with our feet in the sand while watching the ocean. Kids loved it. The food was great too, and nicely sized portions.
Had a nice lunch at an outdoor table, one of 3 or maybe 4 of them that had an overhead covering. There are several more that are on sand with just the sky above. The fish & chips was a generous serving of 4 fillets, & I substituted sweet potato fries for$1.50 more- they were delicious, as was the fish. The tables (including many more inside an enclosure) were for customers serviced by wait staff, not take-out customers. The parking lot there has limited 90 min slots, and paid parking. We had lots of time for long conversations using 2 hours with of parking at a cost of $4 total. Their fish tacos looked really good, as did the chai latte. If had their tuna melt in the past (good) & almost went for the burger or clam chowder. It gets busy for lunch, but arriving at 11:30 there were lots of tables still available then.
Always a great choice for a chance to stick your toes in the SB sand and get grounded while taking in the views of yacht clubbers and catamarans, kite boarders paddlers and surfers, you can relax here. Laid back friendly service at the walk up to go counter, my fave choice for an efficient and cost effective option, especially for solo travelers or dates in a little event hurry, just grab a dinner to go for less or same as bad fast food, and enjoy way more while supporting a longtime local biz. Highly recommend the back patio and chair area, or choose the patio for windcover and good for 4 or more groups. Food is a mix of options including surf and turf and a few easy kids offerings and sides. Beer and wine on premises only and laid back small area in front to consume if you are just looking to be there in and out. Grilled cheese is crispy and buttery with super stretchy cheese. and fries are yummy and seasoned, crispy and delicious even after 20 mins chilling. Bring the kids, they can run around out back on the sand while you eat. Self Paid parking or a few spots on front that get packed always. Also picnic table area to the Left side toward Ledbetter beach. Bigger parties fill it up on eves&weekends so get ready for beach vibe crowds.
Beautiful spot on the beach away from traffic for a tasty breakfast of Huevos Rancheros. Unobtrusive but attentive service. Literally 50 yards from the ocean with people paddle boarding and combing the sand with metal detectors. My spouse had the Eggs Scramble and loved it too. Plentiful paid parking nearby. Eating on protected patio or on the sand. Recommend it.
Wonderful and kind service right on the beach. The ocean provided endless entertainment for my kids. We had breakfast. The food was tasty and filled everyone up. It was a bit chilly so they sat us on the deck right by the kitchen door and we all ordered hot chocolates. Can't wait to go back
Pretty good food for a restaurant on a public beach. Pretty views too since it’s right by the ocean. Came here with my family and we all left full since the portions are big. I got the spicy ahi and the first few bites were amazing but I wasn’t able to finish because the flavor is a bit too strong for me. They were able to make it non spicy though.
Went here for a late lunch at 2pm and it's still quite busy. We got seated less than 30 mins wait, the food choices are good, leaning towards Mexican food offerings. Ordered some tasty nachos while my in-laws ordered quesadillas and clam chowder. The atmosphere is nice Bec it has beach views with cool breeze through the dining area (which is outdoor seating only). The service was also great and did their best despite being short staffed. Will go back here again next time. And you should try it too!
Great little Cafe on the beach where you can dine in or grab it to go. Good variety to choose from. I had the seared ahi tuna with carrots and cabbage and sticky rice. They have vegetarian options, fish and chips, tacos, hot dogs, burgers, and poke. Alcohol available too. You can stick your feet on the sand and enjoy your lunch or breakfast on the beach.
The seafood burrito was really good. My sister had ahi tuna tacos. Loved them. Sitting on patio right on the beach, great setting.
I had lunch with my sister and the food service and location were perfect! Our server was the best. I mentioned that the parking meter wasn't working and asked if it's free parking and she saved me a ticket by suggesting I move my car. She also offered to take a picture of my sister and I since we were struggling with a selfish. I love this place!
Skip the board walk and head 1 mile further to this hidden gem. We went the first time 4 years ago (before I became local guide). A nice lady told us about this place. We went back and it was still better than ever. Steam little neck clams were delicious! And don't skip chicken quesadilla! Find free 90 min parking near the restaurant and chill. When done, go for a stroll on the beach and get some tan!
Very nice place. Extraordinary view on the beach. Ask to be seated outside in the sand, it's gorgeous. Food is very good too. We had breakfast and it's been very great and tasty. Service was nice and welcoming. We were very happy and spontaneously choose to stay a little bit longer and just sit there and watch the ocean.
This spot is simple with economical pricing, delicious food and and an exquisite view. We had breakfast here and everyone agreed the food was tasty. I had the veggie scramble with potatoes. By far some the best breakfast potatoes. The service was wonderful. Whenever I come back to Santa Barbara I will return again. We sat on the sand and enjoyed the view. The menu is limited but I think that is why everything we had was yummy. There is ample parking, not crowded Beach side location HAPPY CHOMPING
Last Summer while embarking on a road trip through the picturesque Santa Barbara area, my friends and I decided to make a pit stop along the beach for lunch, and Shoreline Cafe proved to be an excellent choice. Parking was conveniently located in a beachside lot adjacent to the restaurant, albeit requiring a modest fee, as is common at most beaches. The walk to the restaurant took merely a minute, making it incredibly accessible. Eager for a unique dining experience, we requested a table right on the sand. Though there was a short wait, the presence of Adirondack chairs in the sandy waiting area allowed us to enjoy the beach atmosphere while anticipating our meal. Within a brief 10 minutes, we were ushered to our table nestled in the sand. Our chosen spot offered an unparalleled view of the ocean, along with the perfect vantage point for people-watching and observing seagulls attempting to snatch unsuspecting diners' meals. The menu boasted several gluten-free options, and the server was attentive and knowledgeable in addressing our inquiries about food allergies and restrictions, instilling confidence in our dining choices. Opting for a safe and delicious option, I enjoyed a lettuce-wrapped burger patty with white rice and fresh fruit. Meanwhile, my friends indulged in the delectable fish and chips, attesting to its tastiness. The service was characterized by enthusiasm, patience, and a deep understanding of the menu. The staff even made efforts to deter seagulls, although, regrettably, a neighboring table fell victim to a seagull pilfering a sandwich. Nevertheless, the antics of the seagulls added a touch of amusement and lively conversation to our dining experience. Eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to share a meal with my friends, toes buried in the warm sand, at Shoreline Cafe.
This is our second week in Santa Barbara so we’re trying to hit all of the spots that were recommended to us before we moved here. We really enjoyed our food and the ambience and the service was great. It was a little crowded, but it’s a high traffic area, a beautiful way to spend an autumn afternoon.
The day we came we didn't realize the patio area was not yet open for dining. I have special needs children so inside restaurant sometimes can be overwhelming. The owner greeted us but did inform us that we should come through the front next time. Didn't come off as rude just wanted us to know. They accomodated us and opened the patio up for dining which then quickly filled for breakfast. Enjoyed a wonderful omelette and my kids had eggs and bacon. Afterwards they played on the beach while we finished up our food. Overall was a good place to eat right on the beach. I would give them another try.
The place was very crowded during lunch time and there was a wait time of half an hour. We decided to try out some tacos and veggie burger from their take out menu, which turned out to be a good decision. There were plenty of chairs available towards the beach side of the restaurant. We sat on one of those and enjoyed the beach view. Overall, the place is reasonably priced for the portions.
INSTANT GRATIFICATION 😍😍 literally parked right in front of the restaurant then right onto the 2nd patio which is on the BEACH. If you’re from a big city like I am you know how valuable it is to go from parking to sitting in a matter of minutes - just that alone is a 5-star experience. Once you’re seated the ocean breeze and the sound of the waves gently dance on your face like a dervish. This Santa Barbara on-beach eatery has an incredible FISH CATCH OF THE DAY delivered onto your dinner table straight from the ocean and configured into your daily ceviche and Baja tacos. Mine today was SNAPPER and my God it was it so fresh and so tasty…so delicious. Good luck peeling me from my fortress of calm gastro-Cabo vibes. Please leave me on the beach Smitten with Splendor…man i am truly at a loss for words - my God… Thank you for SHORELINE CAFE!! 🏝
This gem is seriously a must! An adorable breakfast spot that allows you to have breakfast on the beach with your toes in the sand! What could be better?! Cute environment, friendly staff, fresh delicious food and the views are to die for! This was such a fun find and will definitely be coming back, I didn't want to leave.
One of the best, most relaxing and delicious places I’ve been to. Visiting in Santa Barbara and went to Leadbetter beach to unwind. Got a little hungry and shoreline cafe was perfectly right next to us on the beach. We got the nachos to share with carne asada added. At first it seemed a bit pricey but my oh my was the portion size and taste worth it. Meat was cooked perfectly, chips were delicious, and to top it all it was a mountain of nachos. Next time I visit I will make sure to come again to subside my nacho cravings! Service was great, two people catered to our needs with quick service and the beach views from the patio were spectacular. I highly recommend it!
Very nice breakfast for me and lunch for my wife. I had two eggs with smoked bacon and crispy, fried potatoes. Tasty. My wife had the Neman ranch burger with all the fixins which she said was great but too much for her. Her dinner later? Watching the waves and the Princess Cruise ship right off the shore made for a nice brunch. Friendly staff and plenty of free parking. We will return when in town. Good job guys.
What a find!! We are from out of town and happened to pick this place. We couldn't have picked a better place! Food was great, the view is unbeatable, the prices are stellar, but the best part...the SERVICE was top notch! We arrived at 6:45 with 25 high school students and 6 chaperones. They didn't complain at all. They served us quickly and with a smile! Well done!!!
If you are looking for a quick bite or dinner/drinks with sunset views ON THE BEACH, this is the place. Friendly service, simple food and amazing views with feet in the sand. Enjoy!
Shoreline Cafe was the cherry on top of our vacation cake 🍰. A perfect spot whether you’re sitting inside with dreamy ocean views or outside, basically dining with the ocean as your tablemate. The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and everything just hit right. And then there’s Oliver, the owner—one of those rare people who clearly has hospitality running through his veins. Welcoming, warm, and genuinely passionate about what he does. You can feel the care in every detail. We came hungry and left happy (and slightly spoiled). Would absolutely come back! 🌊✨
What an amazing place! How can you beat this location? Right on the beach, and one of the best beaches in SB. It's not a fancy 5 star restaurant, but it still retains those beachy laid back vibes for casual enjoyment of an amazing location and view. The food is great too. A very robust menu gives you plenty of choices and everything we have tried has been great. The prices are excellent too. Compared to other more pricey beach locations, you can't do much better. Don't miss out on their happy hour food and drink specials. Their nacho plates are huge and a meal to themselves. Pair them with a flavorful cocktail or beer, and you are set for a great evening and hopefully a sunset view!
Nice, casual spot with good food and a good view of the water. So good, in fact, we came twice in two days — once for dinner and then again the next day for lunch. The Shoreline salad with goat cheese is yummy, so good that I had it both times. Added chicken and it was moist, unlike so many other places when you add grilled chicken to a salad. My husband enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich for dinner and a burger for lunch. Another in our party had nachos with chicken and really enjoyed them; she’s local to Santa Barbara and picked this spot because it’s a consistent favorite.
This is such a cute place with such a welcoming and friendly team! Amanda took such great care of us and the food was soooo good (we had breakfast). The location is absolutely perfect (table right on the sand?? Yes please!) and the view is beautiful. We can’t wait to come back here! Highly recommend.
We walked here from the Harbor and had a fantastic lunch experience. The service was quick and courteous, no wait, and how about that view! Our food was served hot, the flavors popped, and the portions satisfied...and our beers, cold! We sat for awhile as we tossed them back, as the view and entertainment was, well, perfect really. I highly recommend it!
A surprise stop to avoid traffic on the 101. Limited free parking up front, plenty of paid public parking at the beach. Service was good. Great view of the beach. Heaters in the sitting area. There was plenty to choose from on the menu. We went with the ahi spiced poke special and clam chowder; both were good. I ordered the bloody Mary and a pacifico. Prices are beach prices. Expect between $18-28 a person, more with drinks. They did have restrooms. One thing to note is that there are steps up into the sitting area.
What a lovely find! Visited with a friend looking for a beach view on a visit from the Mid-West and Shoreline Beach Cafe delivered! They have a breakfast and lunch menu and you have the option of eating on their patio or beach! They serve Pepsi products and we paid $7 for 2 hours parking, as we didn’t see the free 90 minute parking. Food was prepared quickly, and served warm. Service was good! There is a cute beach seating area with lounge chairs to relax. A really nice hidden gem and you can’t beat the views!
I mean, it's a Cafe on the beach. That's pretty much 5 stars on its own. But, the food was amazing! I had the scrambled bacon and egg sandwich and a pancake. The server was great, I asked for one pancake because I heard they were amazing. She went out of her way to ask if I can have just one, they usually come in 3. The sandwich was incredible. And the view was incredible too!, I sat outside and it was absolutely gorgeous. Go here if you are anywhere near!
A hidden gem in SB. It's probably the only place in SB where you can dine at a table on the beach. You get an amazing view of the sunset from here. The fish and chips wasn't that good, but I liked their grilled shrimp tacos. But the view alone is worth visiting. There are a few parking spots free for 90 minutes. Can't wait to dine here again soon.
This restaurant is right on the beach and we had an absolutely delightful dining experience. Wait time was 15 minutes. The ambiance was perfect it has a relaxing beachside view that set the tone for a great meal. The food was outstanding. we started with the clam chowder, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. We also had the fried shrimp/fries and a burger. The shrimp were perfectly fried with a crispy coating and juicy interior, and the burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, I can’t stop thinking of the burger! It was a memorable experience, and I can’t wait to come back.
I absolutely loved eating here! It’s got a great casual atmosphere and you can order drinks, soda or snacks at the window while you wait for your table. There is parking in the paid parking lot and also in front of the restaurant for 90 minutes without fees. We got a table on the sand with a few rocks, separating us from the rest of the beach and got to eat with our toes in the sand truly a great experience. They have small but good menu and the food we ordered was delicious. We had fried calamari starter and then shared the regular fish tacos. They will tell you at the front the dogs are not allowed, but if you insist you can take your dog to the back area as long as they stay on a leash and in the sand by the rocks
We were in Santa Barbara for a day trip from LA and my companion found this cafe in front of the ocean. It was a really wonderful experience. We had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table outside on the concrete floor, but it was worth it. The food was delicious for the price. But the main thing was the atmosphere, the experience of dining right in front of the water. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be at sunset. Our waitress was very friendly and professional. We had a great time and certainly would be back if we had a chance.
It was my friend's birthday and she chose the Shoreline Beach Cafe. It was the perfect Fall night, so clear and crisp. We sat on the covered patio, right on the beach. Our waitress and kitchen staff went way beyond ordinary customer service. I have some food allergies. She asked about how things were cooked, and she asked the kitchen staff if they had any suggestions on substitutes. The kitchen staff made me some special flour tortillas "chips" in a pan so I could have chips and Guacamole. Normally, this appetizer is made with corn chips in corn oil. They made mine with olive oil. I have dearly been missing regular tacos and nachos because of my corn allergy. This Cafe, kitchen staff, and our waitress made my night, and it wasn't my birthday. These people went out of their way to make our experience an excellent one. I am grateful! If you haven't tried them out, please do. Parking is mostly free if you can park in the Cafe's lot next to the restaurant. The Shoreline Beach Cafe is located on Shoreline Drive just after the Harbor turn-off, across the lower parking lots at Santa Barbara City College, or down the hill from Shoreline Park. It's a beautiful area of town, close to the Harbor, close to the beach, SB City College, and The Mesa. It's reasonably priced. Happy Hour is from 4-6 pm, with a full bar, as well as beer and wine.

The lunch was good. Sadly, they do not allow dogs on the premises, not even on the beach, on a leash.. We ordered take out and ate in the car with our pup. It was not the outing I was hoping for.
Fabulous view with good food and friendly staff. So relaxing. Fun environment and family friendly. Great way to end the day after strolling State Street for the afternoon.

This spot was perfect for a sunny day in Cali. Eat, sit, and enjoy the view of the ocean while wiggling your toes in the sand, The Ceviche is wonderful!! service was great and very accommodating.

This place is expensive but you are paying for the view. No reservations but it is a nice break from the beach if you are there all day. We had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. Just remember that you have deck, inside or beach sitting. Either way it is a nice destination provided you are aware of the price points.
I just went here for happy hour, $2 off specialty drinks. The mai tai were pretty delicious, margaritas definitely weaker in terms of alcohol content. My friend ordered a burger that looked pretty good, a little over priced. I'd say people come here more for the view and for the drinks, I got the spicy chicken tenders and felt like it was a kids meal. Definitely would like to explore the menu more but so far the drinks and beach view was amazing.
Awesome location, mediocre food- but super relaxed vibe and good coffee!
I did not know there was a restaurant in California where you could have your toes in the sand, this close to the ocean. Weird to say this was a cool experience and I'm happy I did it. Little pricy for for breakfast though.
A solid 4+ Great tasting marinated carne asada and good tortillas. Can’t give it a 5 because its stilla fast casual joint, but you can’t beat the location and service. Decent portions. Eggs were perfectly made over easy. But had trouble on the over medium style. Potatoes and fruit were fresh and great sides. Ice tea was delicious. Mimosa was also solid. Thank you for doing what you do.
Heading down to LA I did a quick stopover in St. Barbara and just checked Google-maps for a "beach-Cafe" near me. This is what turned up and it exactly met my expectations. Nothing fancy, but good and fresh produce, kind staff, excellent fish tacos! It's great for mixing with locals and tipping your toes in the sand, while watching the waves.
Here you will get deck seating as well as beach front seating and both offer great views of the Pacific Ocean. Staff was super friendly and menu had some traditional American and Seafood flare all was very tasty. The view is ultimately what makes this place stand out from others in the area. Also there was some entertaining local wildlife. Love the sounds of the waves crashing in the distance. #beachview
On a business trip I wandered down to the beach and right into the Shoreline Beach Cafe. I saw a bunch of tables on the beach so I sat down and was greeted right away. I only wanted some beers and they served em up. The view was great and I was able to catch a cool buzz whilst staring at my phone and the ocean.
The location is perfect for drinks 🍸 👌. We order ceviche (it was ok need more flavor for my taste) clam chowder was delicious and fries too.The coffee and beer was perfect for day. The staff was attentive and friendly. The place is clean and well maintained. We unfortunately sat out in the blue umbrella tables on the sand , along with lots of screaming, bad behaved kids. Next time will ask the host before we ask to be seated.

A decent place with a great view. I ordered a breakfast scramble and it was ok, though the portions are a bit small for the price. They plopped my one slice of toast on top of the eggs and cheese, making a mess. The potatoes were awesome, I believe they drop them into the deep fryer for an extra crispness. They are a bit pricey, but you're paying for the view. Service was friendly and the tables were well spaced.
The good: It’s right on the sand and water. Views are great and it’s such a nice vibe with all the kids and families. The medium: The service is decent. We didn’t have to wait too long and the waiter was friendly if not particularly attentive. The bad: The food. Truly terrible. It’s just Walmart freezer food reheated. We as a group had the fish and chips and the fish tacos. The fish and chips were dry, small portions, and almost no flavor. The fish tacos were mostly cabbage and extremely mid. It’s a good place to sit. It’s a bad place to eat.
Took 30 minutes for a hot dog that tasted like it had be sitting on the warmer for hours. Should be one or the other!
Perfect beach cafe! Nothing is spectacular except for the view! They really need a more professional host as the teenager that helped us last night (630p 8/16/24) simply wasn’t nice and a horrible first impression, especially first timers) my “fresh catch of the day mahi mahi from a neighboring fish market) was tough and dry. This place is all about the view and my wine… solid three stars, and recommended!
Awesome view. Fish tacos were great minus the ketchup cup of bland black beans that come with it. The burgers were an absolute joke. 18$ for what they claim to be a quarter pound. The burger came out looking like a sad McDonalds cheeseburger. Asked the waitress for one thing after food was dropped. Didn't see her again until we took the check. Seems like they can get away with overpriced mediocrity because of their location.
Nice place on the beach to people watch. You can sit outside or partially blocked from the wind on the patio. Food came quickly. Food was not that flavorfull. The lemon wedges that accompanied the tacos had no juice at all. Completely dried out and the little cups with sauce was not adequate. But still a nice place and I'd go back.
Great location on the beach! Sadly, the food was a huge let down. It was blah. We had Calamari and Red Snapper Ceviche both of them were just ok. Had steamed mussels and 2 of the mussels had beards still on them. "While not harmful, has a tough, stringy, and unappetizing texture that detracts from the dining experience". Yep! 2 of us had Sea bass and it was blah. The Poke and Salmon were so-so. We were all excited for the Sticky Rice but it was not true Sticky Rice. Yes, the rice stuck together, but it had no flavor. Key lime cheesecake for dessert looked like it was frozen, turned on a plate, thawed and had a swirl of something on it. It was ok. Skip the "Gelato". Even though it says it is made in Italy the only resemblance to Gelato is it is cold. It comes in and is served in a plastic container. It has a ton of unnecessary ingredients. It has a weird texture and taste. Dinner was $200 for 5 adults with no drinks. Very disappointing.
It's all about the atmosphere - right on the beach. The food is mediocre at best at very high price

If it wasn't for the amazing staff... I'd never go back. I'm devastated since the new owner Oliver has taken over. I LOVE getting my Bloody Mary 2go or Shoreline Margarita but NO MORE 2 GO ALLOWED.…
I've been here alot and I ordered fish Tacos it was honestly the worst taco ive ever had and I've had fish Tacos here many times and they were good. This time fish was over cooked and hardly any fish just burnt batter like they just put the crumbs from bottom of container inside and hid it under a bunch of lettuce and sauce. Absolutely worst.
Sad breakfast burrito. Used to be my favorite thing there and it was absolutely terrible. Iced tea was 4.75$ and never was refilled. My friend got grilled shrimp tacos and said they were bad. We agreed to just go there for drinks and the view in the future and not eat. Over priced and very low quality.
It's on line as pet friendly restaurant as stated online! Another customer before us was also complaining too same thing! we drove more than 3 miles to try the clam chowder do we did order it and a…
Beautiful atmosphere next to the beach but their cooks aren't great. I was disappointed. I got fish tacos and they brought me a drop of black beans... Literally 🤣oh man... If I'm next to a beach I want fresh seafood like never seen before not from frozen. Next time I'm trying the places further up their atmosphere made me regret this visit. I think if the food wasn't so basic and scarce I would have been happier.
The tuna melt and fries were delicious. The spicy seared ahi was flavorless, the fish texture was odd and the rice was mushy. The worst part when the umbrella almost knocked me out and all the manager said was thanks for letting me know. Won't be going back. It was one of my favorite locations
Chips were salted well but very stale and tough to chew. Guacamole was above average. Appeared to be fresh with a good tomato onion ratio. Salsa was ok. Very watery with a smoky flavor. No spice. Mojito was lower quality. Tasted watered down. Margarita was on the stronger side but likely due to poor quality tequila rather than a double serving. Margarita $14 Mojito $18 Chips $10
