I tried the Thalassery mutton biryani, Kerala parotta and mutton fry and absolutely loved them! The biryani and fry were bursting with rich flavor, and the meat in both dishes was tender, well-cooked, and delicious. I also appreciated that each dish had generous portions with whole meaty pieces rather than mostly bony ones. This definitely won’t be my last visit and I’m excited to try more items from their menu next time!
One of my favorite restaurants now. We love the chicken ulathu and chicken Varutharachatu. We also order the Kerala parottas which are not as thick/soft as some other places, but still decent and go well with the chicken dishes.
I love mutton, and their mutton fry is delicious. With rice this dish is amazing. I will be going back to try the anchovies!
I found the food to be quite authentic. The chicken roast in particular was a cut above anything I've had in the bay area so far. The parotta though was not all that great but definitely decent. The server was nice and helpful with his suggestions. The ambience was pleasant and I found the decor to be quite elegant. All in all it was a pleasant surprise as I had been disappointed previously with their delivered food.
Here from Orlando looking for authentic Kerala food and this hit the spot. Delicious appam and Porotta with vegetable stew and Chicken Roast and Ulavacharu Paneer Biryani. Attentive service in a no frills restaurant and very reasonably priced. Definitely on a repeat list.

Was at this place to pick up our order and found this place to be a decent place with Indian taste food. The place has ample parking and it was convenient to pick up our order. One of the items which I liked was corn chilly and the quantity was good enough. Would certainly try more veggies item next time.
Malabar Coast is my absolute go-to spot for authentic Kerala cuisine in the Bay Area, consistently delivering on tradition and flavor. The main reason for my loyalty is their incredible Thalassery Biriyani; cooked with distinctive Kaima rice, it is incredibly fragrant, light, and perfectly layered with spices, making it easily the best version available
Amazing food. Parotta and chicken ghee roast were the best. All the food was so fresh and tasty. The ada payasam was amazing. Highly recommend the restaurant.
If you crave authentic Kerala food, this is the place definitely worth going to. Their Chicken Varutharachatu is absolutely delicious ! The restaurant owner was very kind to recommend and help us.
Malabar Coast truly exceeded our expectations and satisfied our Kerala food cravings perfectly. Every dish was packed with authentic flavors and tasted absolutely amazing. A special shoutout to the restaurant owner, who was incredibly kind and helpful in guiding us through the menu and making sure we ordered exactly what we were craving — especially the fried fish, which was simply outstanding and cooked to perfection. The warm hospitality combined with unforgettable food made our experience truly memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for real Kerala flavors and a welcoming atmosphere!

I honestly can't believe this restaurant has been around since 2019 and I just tried it in 2025 after all these years. We're total suckers for Kerala cuisine, and Malabar Coast hit all the right notes for me and my family. It's near the Santa Clara DMV, tucked into the corner of an arcade complex, so it's easy to miss. The inside has decent seating and felt clean. Service was a bit slow and our server didn't seem too familiar with the menu, but it was Veteran's Day so maybe they were short-staffed. One of the owners, Nagendra, jumped in right away to help us with recommendations, which was nice. The menu was packed with dishes I hadn't even heard of before (Chicken Mappas? Chicken Varuthacharathu? Chicken Ulathu?). I hope they trim down the menu a bit or add some descriptions to make ordering easier. Now to the stuff that really matters - the food! We ordered a bunch: Shrimp Tawa Fry and Chicken 65 for apps, then Chicken Curry with a Kerala Porotta, a couple of aappams, and a Mutton Biryani. Portions are generous, so plan accordingly. We ordered extra on purpose to try more and didn't mind leftovers for the next day. The Shrimp Tawa Fry was fantastic. The Porotta and appams were freshly made, flavorful, and hot. Just spot on! The Chicken Curry was tasty but could use a touch more seasoning. The Mutton Biryani had great flavor but the goat pieces were a little tough and could've used some more time in the pressure cooker. Still, the portion and prep were solid. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this place. If they can tighten up the service and get the word out better, I think they'll build a strong following. The food quality really stands out compared to other spots, and I hope they keep that up.
Nice Kerala curries! We had biryani, fish mango curry, beef masala, and the anchovy fry with a couple paratha breads. All tasty and well made. The shop is running on low staffing as orders is made thru the online clover system. Reasonably fast in serving.
An amazing new place for Malabari cuisine from India’s southern state of Kerala. Quick and friendly service. We had the beef fry, appam, porotta and chicken curry. Every dish was well cooked, well spiced and fresh. The appams were soft and fluffy with that slight tang. The porottas were crispy and flaky. The chicken curry was the true winner. The beef fry was delicious too but we were a little underwhelmed by the spice. Maybe we were expecting more spice. The place was clean and they had malayali songs playing in the background which added a nice authentic touch. My only peeve was that the cost of the appam and paratta was slightly more for the quantity. They should have given two for the price they were charging for one. Also, rice should have been served with the curry as is practice in most desi restaurants. Nevertheless I’m excited to go back and try more of their items.
Pretty good food if you’re looking for kerala cuisine. The porotta and beef roast were particularly good. The place was a little run down.
The service was good and the place was clean, we ordered fish curry and veggie fried rice. The fresh Curry was cream-based and delicious and fried rice it was also really good but little spicy.
You get good Kerala food. I tried their parrota and beef roast with pallada payasam and sharbat. It was really good but I think they could be a little pricey. Nevertheless, decent ambiance and good service I must say!

Really good parotta. The Malabar fish curry was good, though it would be better with a light, flakier fish like talapia or cod, though I'm sure the fish they use is traditional. The curry went great with the Kerala rice, which I never had before and liked a lot.
With a place named Malabar Coast I expected it to lead with Kerala dishes like puttu, thoran, avial. Instead I got a random mishmash of some Kerala and the usual suspects from the North. The prices were extremely reasonable in this time and age that we are living in and so I decided to order. The ambiance was annoying. There was a youtube video of a crackling fireplace. Idk what the intended mood was, but the place did not look like a ski lodge cabin that needed a skeuomorphic fireplace. In the background, the Uber Eats chime went off constantly, like every 5s. I felt like an extra in a scifi movie given that I was all alone in the restaurant. The parotta was dry and crumbled as I handled it. This left me sad. The mushroom stew was passable, but I wasn't going to Whatsapp call my mom and show her how good the food was "here in the US" with it. As a vegetarian, the biriyani choices were commendable - veg, egg, paneer, gongura, but also, why so many choices? What was ulavacharu biriyani doing hiding in this mix? Was there rasam in the biriyani or a collab with the namesake restaurant nearby? Confused, I ordered the gongura biriyani. The portions were generous. A small African nation could come out of famine with it. But it was heaped so much with the gongura masala at the bottom that I ended up dumping the regular unspiced rice onto my pate and then had to add the masala to make it what the menu claimed it to be. Sadly, the tangy gongura was at odds with the other spices and left me incomplete and with a to-go box filled with my dinner and lunch.
Ordered parotta with chicken varutharachadhu, beef ularthiyadhu and garlic shrimp. Beef was good but chicken tasted stale and bad. Parotta was hard and chewy. Garlic shrimp was spicy with raw masala. This place used to be good pre COVID. Now the quality had come down. We went on a week day and it was just us in the restaurant. There are not many Kerala restaurants in the bay so I really wish they maintain quality.
The atmosphere and the service of the place was a bit disappointing. We decided to dine-it at the restaurant and were served the entrees in plastic bowls. The chairs were stacked up even at peak dinner time. The vibe and ambience of the place was quite dull. I would not recommend to dine in at the restaurant. The place is fine for pickup if you’re looking to try some Kerala cuisine. The pricing of the food was reasonable. Chicken Roast: 3.5/5 Beef Fry: 3/5

Ordered chicken biriyani, the portion size was more than decent however lacked taste, felt random flavours throughout the meal to be honest. Biriyani had boiled egg which was cold. Cutlet was good, good taste. Service was decent and quick.

While the food tastes good, the hygiene standards are seriously lacking. One of the male staff members was serving plates by holding the inside surface — the part we’re supposed to eat from — with his bare hands. That’s completely unhygienic. The same thing happened with the takeout boxes. He was handling them by touching the inside, showing no understanding of basic food safety. If this is how they operate in front of customers, I don't want to imagine what happens behind the scenes. Hygiene should be a priority, not an afterthought.
