Opinions de Ramen Taka Santa Clara
Very solid ramen place. The food was so tempting that I started to dig in before remembering to snap a pic lol Edit: went again. Still delicious
food was soo good!! the tonkotsu was amazing and the spicy karaage was life changing; i got it twice🤤 restaurant was kinda cold tho but i didnt really care much. their taste in music was good. service was really good
Amazing place for ramen and to come and relax with your friends. It's a dim lit room that's really relaxing to your eyes. It's really easy to order whatever you want. I got the ramen. It was delicious. I enjoyed the chicken broth and the pork meat. It was all delicious, especially the noodles. They were fresh. If you enjoy spicy, you can get some chili spicy paste and mix it with the broth. It would be really enjoyable to eat it. Highly recommend. Would come again to try more ramen.
I’ve been to this ramen shop many times. They even have Jiro-style ramen, which is really tasty! The miso ramen is especially good. My child usually enjoys the shoyu ramen, and the restaurant is spacious and family-friendly. Today, I tried one of their limited-time ramen bowls!
Taka Ramen in San Jose is a true standout for Japanese comfort food. We started with the seasoned edamame—simple yet addictive—and perfectly crispy gyoza with a flavorful filling. The Tonkotsu ramen stole the show with its rich, creamy broth, tender pork, and perfectly chewy noodles. The Katsu Curry Chicken was equally impressive, featuring a crispy cutlet paired with fragrant curry over rice. On top of the incredible food, the service was second to none, with attentive servers and a warm, welcoming staff that made the experience even more enjoyable. Taka Ramen is a must-visit for any ramen lover!
I really liked this ramen spot; it was open and airy, creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, which is pretty rare for a ramen shop. I ordered Veggi-Ramen. The broth was light and clear, yet surprisingly, it had a flavor that reminded me of authentic tonkotsu soup. The limited-time "Hell Ramen" was so spicy that it's perfect if you're up for a ramen challenge. The crispy karaage and the edamame in garlic soy sauce were also good. The ramen here wasn’t overly salty, and I found it more balanced than at other ramen shops. The staff were polite and attentive too.
This was our first experience with Ramen and we absolutely loved it. We were three and order three different types of Ramen. Shio Ramen, Vegan Ramen and Tonkotsu Shoyo Ramen. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, go for Vegan Ramen which had rich soup and lot of ingredients. If you consume red meat, go for Tonkotsu Shoyo without any doubts. It's the best here. Shio Ramen is a clear chicken broth based ramen which was just okay compared to other two. Also, don't forget to ask for the spicy paste according to your preference which definitely adds up to the already amazing taste.
Service is incredibly friendly. Well portioned food and plenty of parking in the back. There are plenty of seats open for 1-2 people, but you may need to wait with 4+. As of 10/30/2021, you don't need a vaccine card. Even if you dine in, you'll need to do a mobile order. There are QR codes at each table to take you to the website to order. Noodle sizes differ. Take a look at the menu and I'd recommend choosing the ramen based off of noodle thickness or broth depending on which is a deal breaker for you.
Ramen Taka near Santa Clara University is one of those dependable ramen spots that delivers when it counts. Street parking can be tough, especially when the nearby shops are busy. There’s a small shared parking lot shaped like an “L,” but if you drive all the way in and it’s full, you’ll have to reverse your way out—so enter with caution. Once inside, though, things move smoothly. Service is quick and friendly, and more importantly, the food comes out fast. I stick with the tonkotsu ramen and karaage—both are solid favorites. The broth is rich and flavorful without being overwhelming, and the noodles have a great texture. Someone else ordered a tofu ramen, which I don’t currently see on the menu, so maybe it was a special that day. Overall, yummy all around and a reliable go-to when the ramen craving hits.
Seemed very authentic from the moment I walked in. Stumbled here while looking for soup near work and this was a very happy find. Met here with my boyfriend and he enjoyed this as well. Would definitely come back for lunch since it didn't take too long. Took a while to be seated but it was probably a lunch rush.
We ordered different kinds of ramen, and they all tasted pretty good. The prices seemed reasonable at first, but when I checked the bill, I noticed a 20% gratuity was automatically added plus a blank line for extra tips. I accidentally paid almost 40% in tips and had to go back to get it corrected. No wonder there aren’t many customers. No matter how tasty the food is, I wouldn’t come back because of that policy. Parking is also limited and usually packed, so it’s best to come early if you want a spot.
I like ramen and was craving the Tonkotsu here. I have gotten this a few times and it always hit the spot. I'm also glad it's walking distance from my work. Service has always been awesome here. The only thing i don't like is they blast their AC. It's so cold in here, I'm not sure why the AC is blowing up but i should be grateful. It's better than no AC. It does get busy on a Friday lunch so prepare to wait a few minutes but the line moves fast.
Black pepper Karaage, Katsu Curry and Taka Ramen were all good. The black pepper Karaage was drizzled with a sweet, salty, sour sauce. Curry gravy on Katsu has some sweetness to it with mild curry flavor which was great because the curry tastes is not overpowering. Katsu had crispy panko coating. The ramen has more of a soy sauce flavor compared to other ramen I've had. Small free parking lot behind the restaurant. Attentive staff. Food came out quickly.
I deduced 2 stars for two important reasons: bad Tonkatso and greedy owner. We've ordered Tonkotso ramen, takyoki, and chicken with tartare. Takyoki and chicken were good. The chicken was tasty and soft. Takyoki was also fine. I liked the flavors. The Tonkatso was undoubtedly one of the worst I've ever had. The noodle they use in it is way off (I'll just leave it for my Japanese friends to judge) and the taste was nowhere near good ramens. The egg was overcoocked too. But my biggest complaint is about the way the owner is running the business. How on earth you expect a single person to handle 10-15 tables at the same time? Taking the orders, bringing the food, cleaning the tables, bringing the check and .... The guy was literally running all over the place. The owner must be truly ashamed!
Ramen broth was flavorless! Tried the Vegan ramen, and didn't like it at all. It was average, at best. Tofu had zero seasoning -- totally bland! I read reviews here before trying the place, and most reviews spoke very well about the broth. I'm not sure if the day I visited was an exception, but no spice/seasoning on most veggies + bland broth was honestly not the combination I enjoyed. Service and ambience were amazing. Parking can be a little challenging.
I was craving some ramen but unfortunately this place missed the mark. Service was remarkable. The ambience and seating area were decent as well. The best item here was the wontons. Deliciously seared on the outside and a good amount of meat inside. There was so little of the sauce to dip it. I was disappointed in that. Water and tea were complimentary. However the tea has a pungent scent to it. I was unable to drink it. The edamame was not edible either. I did mention it to my server but nothing was done. I ate one and left the bowl completely full otherwise. Broth on the ramen didn’t have much flavor. The bamboo had a strange scent as well. I took them all out to enjoy then ramen. Large size bowl even for the regular meal. It has plenty of veggies and a few slices of pork in it. It’s very colorful and it was crispy. Ramen noodles didn’t taste fresh and were undercooked. Egg was completely unflavored and it was $1.50 extra. Ordering was thru a QR code. I think we are past that now. It does integrate with their ordering system to send tickets to the kitchen. I didn’t get asked if I wanted dessert before I was brought the bill. I think this is a bad assumption. Overall I think this place has potential but could use some refinement. Music is too loud. Time to be seated 5/5 Time to be acknowledged 5/5 Customer service 5/5 Parking 1/5 - very limited
Parking difficult. Seating is very tight and cramped making it impossible to relax or have conversation. Price is high considering portion size. They charge $1.25 just to add more hot sauce. Ramen only has one piece of pork around the size of a half stripe of bacon. Noodle broth flat in flavor. Cannot recommend this restaurant as there are a number of much better options for ramen.
The restaurant should consider changing its hours. Every time I’ve gone around 1:40, I’ve driven there only to be told that the only option was take-out. If that’s the case, why not just close at 1:30 and start cleaning from there? Just my two cents. The food is good, though. They even have a yuzu ramen option, which isn’t offered at Ramen Hajime. I think the owner might also be working in the kitchen, and I’m not sure if this situation is fully noticed.
