Opinions de Augie's French Santa Rosa
By far one of the best restaurants in the whole Bay Area (and wine region). Very traditional dishes prepared with care. The selection of regional options is impressive and execution spectacular. I had two nights in Sonoma and went both nights. The service was equally as impressive. Whether it’s the hostess, the servers or the busboys - everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. They’re attentive, care about your thoughts on the food and are responsive. The manager lived in France (and is fluent as we spoke some). She had great recommendations and conversation. The atmosphere is modern and tasteful. Lots of tile and mosaics. Ambient lighting that turns down around 8 (but not too dark). Light fixtures down to the napkins all seem throughly thought through (#alliteration). Even the small outdoor patio has cute seating with a little gate. I couldn’t recommend Augie’s enough.
If you’re looking for a fine dining experience where you will be well taken care of and can choose anything on the menu without being disappointed, this is the place We have returned here numerous times because the service is excellent. The dining experience and quality is consistently outstanding. Always feel well cared for here and it’s nice to have a fancier place to go to dinner. The beef cheek is my go to, it is so so good. Luxurious, flavorful tender melt in your mouth! Another favorite is beef tartar, perfectly seasoned. Forgot to snap a picture of the dessert, profiteroles. They change the flavor seasonally, I hope to see the cherry one back soon!
I've been in Augie's for dinner during a short gateway with my partner in the Santa Rosa County. The place is very stylish, with an elegant ambience. The service was very professional, kind and attentive. We got a glass of Cabernet Franc that was really good. We eat the salmon, the poulet frites, cabbage salad and French fries. For dessert we got the profitteroles. Everything was very delicious and curated in detail. Strongly recommended if you are in the area!
One of the nicer places in Santa Rosa downtown. High quality food and drinks and suitable for business or personal. I had the Beef cheeks bourgignon which was melt-in-your-mouth fantastic. The apps were quite unique and tasty as well. Though I was there for a business dinner, would easily take my family or a date there (if I were still single).
One of these days I’ll have a proper dinner, but I do love coming here for the Happy Hour and small plates. The food is always amazing! Pictured are the Oeufs Mayonnaise, French Onion Dip, and the Herb and Gruyère Gougeres.
Had dinner and love the place. We came early without reservations Tuesday evening but I will recommend one as when we left at 7, the restaurant was full. Definitely order the tartar beef onion soup and beef cheeks. Endive pear walnut salad is crispy but could be better with a little more dressing. Confit duck and escargot are good but expected. The pancakes dessert is wonderful. We will probably come again if we are in Santa Rosa.
Augie’s French restaurant is the best five star restaurant in all of Sonoma county. It's true what people say about Augie's, the food is excellent, the service is great, the menu is outstanding, in the prices are reasonable. My date and I are both foodies. We sample new restaurants at least twice a week. Most often three or four times per week. We have to put Augie's restaurant in the top 10 best all time restaurants we have ever eaten at. My friend is from mainland China and has has traveled extensively. She has three full passports and is working on her fourth. She knows food from around the world. I myself have been to all western european countries and enjoyed the ethnic food in each country. France being my favorite. Without hesitation we give Augie's five stars! We had the appetizer of garlic escargo. The snails were perfectly cooked and presented. For starters we had salad. Chef Mark Mark presented Endive, Pear, Walnut & Roquefort with Banyuls vinaigrette dressing. We selected the two most difficult meals to prepare, and if done correctly, the most delicious to eat. My date ordered the Beef Cheek Bourguignon with Classic Garni and pommes puree. I had the Liberty Farms Duck Confit with upland cress salad, fondant potatoes with fig jus. For desert we shared the Classic Vanilla Crème Brûlée. This is the perfect dish to share as a dessert. The portion is large and I do not believe one person could eat the entire dish. But together we made it disappear magically. We enjoyed every spoonful. If you want to take most magical experience please try Augie's restaurant. I guarantee you will not be disappointed! The atmosphere is beautiful. The service is spot on. The menu is excellent. The food is delicious. The prices are reasonable. The wine list is expensive and exclusively french. It doesn't get any better than this. Advise you to make a reservation at least a day or two in advance. Augie's is very popular. Bon appetite!
Dear Augie’s French Team (especially Eddy!) Oh my gosh—what a night! I had the absolute best time celebrating my birthday dinner at your restaurant, and I just had to say… thank you thank you thank you! From the very first bite of the Steak Tartare to the Liberty Farms Duck Confit and that divine Steak Frites—it was like a love letter to ingredients. Every dish was so thoughtfully prepared, letting the natural flavours really shine through. Honestly, I didn’t think “must-try restaurants” were really a thing for me in the U.S., but you completely changed my mind. I would totally recommend Augie’s to anyone and everyone. It’s that good. And let’s talk about the service! Eddy, you were an absolute star. Even with a packed dining room, you made us feel seen and cared for with such grace. You noticed how much I loved the bread (guilty! carbs are my love language), and your dessert recommendation? Life-changing. I’m not even kidding—better than a Michelin dessert I had. You made my night extra special with that sweet surprise, and I’m still dreaming about it. It’s such a joy to know a restaurant like this exists in Santa Rosa. I already can’t wait to come back. Thank you for making my birthday dinner feel so magical. With love, sparkle, and serious gratitude 💖
Our lunch was fantastic. We sat outside on the cute front patio and enjoyed dining in the sun, protected from by the black and white striped umbrellas. I had a glass of Chablis which was nice along with the endive salad and the omelette. Everything was perfect. My husband had the burger which was one of the best we’d had in a while. Fries were good too. 10/10 recommend. Can’t wait to go back.
We were really pleasantly surprised by Augies. The food is absolutely Delicious. bite after bite, we are pleasantly surprised by everything we tried. We ordered oysters, escargot, scallop gratin, endive salad, onion tart, muscles, steak, chicken and heaps of frites. Ended with a stunning dessert mousse. Absolutely everything was stunning. The cocktails were also lovely. We sat at the bar and the atmosphere was great. Our bartender was very nice. We traveled from out of town, but we truly hope to visit again one day!
I order duck confit basically whenever I see it on the menu, I would rate this place’s duck confit 10/10. Absolutely amazing!!!!! And the starter bread, also extremely delicious. The snails could use a little more umami though. But overall, super super tasty food
We came for happy hour and it was great!! They had good deals for oysters, we got 1/2 dozen for $14! The drinks were also great, we loved the Kir Royale. The menu overall seems pretty pricey, and some of the descriptions are tricky to understand if you don’t know words in French, so be willing to ask your server or do some research. The ambiance in here is great. It’s such a cute small place with really great furniture and decor. Would definitely recommend for a date night, or for a good spot to try some new foods!

Amazing the Stark's really nailed it on this exceptional restaurant!! Very good and excellent atmosphere! Was my Grand Mother Fran Bemis 101st Birthday Celebration with family! 🎉🎈🎂🥳🎊🤯🎁🙏

Back in Santa Rosa at our favorite restaurant, and two years since our last review, and the staff there are still AMAZING! Apologies to the staff for being so gracious as to allow us to continue our conversation 40 minutes past closing with not one rude hint they were closed. So very European in their graciousness. Food was better than we'd remembered, staff just as great as on every visit we've made. We are back every chance we get! We feel as if we've been welcomed back into the home of good friends, thank you!
The escargot was one of the best I've had in my 40 years of fine French dining. Be sure to order a slice of their toasted bread to sop up the delicious garlic butter. Wine list, excellent. The oysters so fresh. So many more amazing items to try. Gratins, salads, soup oh yum.
My husband and I ate here on a Friday night. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmed. Service was very good. The young man waiting on us was pleasant, patient, and helpful. Ambiance was very nice with soft lighting. We did wish it wasn't so cold inside. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant with access at the back door. Dinner was great. My husband said it was probably the best sweetbreads he's ever eaten. The mussels were done perfectly and plump and fresh. The green beans wee tasty, as was the scallops and french onion soup. Would definitely recommend.
The food is exceptional. So well made and fresh. The butter is top tier. We dined here with my two children aged 6 and 1. They were very accommodating with crayons, appropriate non breakable drinkware and just overall being kind and welcoming to them. The service was top notch. Very attentive. I would come back here for the service alone even if the food wasn't great. The drinks were beautiful and delicious. It's nice to have a fine dining French restaurant that feels fresh and modern in town.
Wow, what a wonderful restaurant! Let me start by saying our party went from 7 to 11 guests on a Sunday night. The hostess went above and beyond making it work for us! The service was excellent, Ben did an awesome job accommodating everyone's concerns and was efficient and unobtrusive. He seemed to be right there when we needed him but I never felt like he was hovering. His manager (Jill) was also involved in the service and touched our table several times to make sure everything was moving along nicely. The food was on point as usual for a Stark's restaurant. They really do a nice job in all of their restaurants. I especially enjoyed the onion soup, the sweetbreads and the duck leg confit. Everyone was happy with their appetizers and I heard several "oh man that's good" around the table. We shared a few desserts and I think the creme brulee was the crowd favorite. Overall it was a great night. The food was great and the service was excellent . We are all looking forward to next visit! Thank you Augie's French for making our birthday celebrations great!
Went for dinner Friday night and the service was the best I’ve had in Sonoma county. Everyone was so kind and helpful! Our drinks were amazing and came out so fast! Obviously the food was incredible as well. Props to the whole team front and back :)

Augie’s French – Review: Augie’s French offers a refined dining experience with classic French cuisine. The dishes are elegantly prepared, featuring rich flavors and authentic techniques. The menu includes traditional favorites like coq au vin, duck confit, and a variety of delicate pastries and desserts. The ambiance is upscale yet welcoming, with attentive service that enhances the overall experience. Perfect for special occasions or a sophisticated night out. If you appreciate genuine French flavors and a cozy, elegant setting, Augie’s French is a great choice.

Augie’s is exactly what you hope for in a modern neighborhood French restaurant: warm, polished, and consistently well executed. Set in a brick-lined space with soft lighting, brass accents, and a lively bar, it feels intimate without being stuffy. We started with the Coquilles St. Jacques and Rabbit Rillettes. The scallops were delicately cooked and nicely balanced—rich without being heavy—while the rillettes were rustic, flavorful, and perfect spread generously on toast with a glass of wine. A strong opening. For mains, we ordered the burger, smoked duck sausage cassoulet, and beef cheek bourguignon. The cassoulet arrived bubbling in cast iron, delivering exactly the kind of smoky, comforting depth you want on a cool evening. The bourguignon was fork-tender and deeply flavored, served over creamy mash with a glossy, classic sauce. The burger was the one slight miss of the night. While well seasoned, the patty itself lacked a bit of body, and the brioche bun was thicker and drier than ideal, which threw off the balance. Perfectly crisp frites helped, but it didn’t quite rise to the level of the other dishes. Service, as expected from a Stark restaurant, was smooth, professional, and well paced. We brought our own wine, which was handled graciously. Overall, a solid four-star experience. Everything is thoughtfully prepared and reliably good. While it may not quite reach “unforgettable,” Augie’s delivers a refined, enjoyable evening and remains a place we’d happily return to.
We just came for lunch. We started with the French onion soup and oysters on the half shell. Absolutely amazing. I would come back just for those two things. The bread and butter was amazing as well. My boyfriend got the burger and fries, he said it was incredible. It looked good. I got the butternut squash gnocchi. Kinda disappointed with it. Some were very salty and the texture was just like eating mashed potatoes. Not the gnocchi I am used to. For dessert we got the creme brule. I think they put too much sugar on it and they served it too hot so we had to wait for it to cool down. The sugar was burnt and bitter but the custard had good flavor.
I'm giving a 4 star here, but I want to give a 3. The food was OK, I'd say above average. The atmosphere was good. But the service was terrible. I am writing it off to going there the day after New Years (thus the 4 rather than 3 stars). I asked our wait staff where the scallops were from as I prefer east coast. Never got an answer, but from the taste of them, they weren't east coast. Asked that the bill be split between the two couples at the table, we got one bill. The worst is that we looked at dirty dishes for extended periods and dirty glasses the ENTIRE meal. Shouldn't they at least ask if we want the stuff cleared? Our waitress disappeared after the first two or three interactions and we were served by others which is fine. But I asked the poor guy who was dealing with the desserts about the sauterne's and he had not a clue. I didn't bother to try to explain it to him and skipped ordering. When leaving I was waiting for my wife near the back to go to the parking lot and the cooks were loudly swearing. While that doesn't bother me all that much, that coupled with the poor service, just spoke to the overall professionalism. This is supposed to be Sonoma County fine dining, but alas...

I went in October for my 26th birthday with my grandmother. I was very excited because I had been wanting to go to this restaurant for a little bit but I don't have the money to Go out to nice places to eat. I got the sage butter gnocchi while she got the poached salmon. The sage butter gnocchi was awful and I have had sage butter pasta in the past and love it so that was not the issue. It had very little taste and what taste it had was not really that great. The salmon was decent but I was so turned off from eating after trying that gnocchi. I sent the gnocchi back and ended up drinking my dinner. I was trying to have a very nice conversation with my grandmother but would be constantly interrupted by the server. Some 20 something year-old kid just constantly interrupting our conversation. I used to be a server at a nice restaurant down the street. If people are in conversation you generally don't go over to them as much. On top of that when you do have to interrupt you say excuse me or something like that. There was nothing like that. He would just interrupt completely like he was the center of the world and would just start talking. With me having ADD I just wanted to yell at the kid for driving me crazy. I definitely don't have any need to go back. I will say they did a very good job on the actual restaurant and making it look nice. It's very beautiful inside. Very quirky with the big butterfly wallpaper and brick and metal. Super cool lights and a nice bar and wine fridge. Although admittedly that has very little to do with the actual resturant and a lot do with the great designers they must have hired.
