Our server Justin was great! Very attentive, helped us decide between food & drink options, & made our anniversary dinner an all around great experience! I highly recommend this restaurant & sitting in Justin’s section!

Went to Mallard’s on a whim- first time there- let me say everyone there was super super polite… Heard they had a good happy hour. THEY DID! Matt was our sever - he was fantastic, open, funny, explaining everything to us. The restaurant has a ton to offer. We were there about 4:30 on a Thursday so they were not busy. Love the corn fritters, crab cakes were amazing. Oh the KEY LIME PIE! The beer tap choices were a bit limited for me, but I think they have really good options. We will be back- highly recommend check them out. Ask for Matt.

1st time at Mallards, we had been talking about it for a while. Let me say they did not disappoint. Boudin balls, crispy, fresh, and savory. Little spice on the end and the cilantro takes it to the next level. Seafood Roll, shrimp and lobster was the freshest I've had in MN, the bread toasted perfectly and they let the seafood lead (love that). Fries were not to hard, not too soft and well seasoned but not over the top! The service prompt, friendly, asked for recommendations and was given solid information, that was not an upsell! I appreciate honesty thank you Mason for being you!

Great food. The kale and berry salad was perfect for summer. The lobster roll (their second most popular entree) was delicious. The drawn butter really made the sandwich spectacular. We have been here twice and will be back soon. Mathew was a rock star. Try the key lime pie. Update. Came back for Sunday brunch. The food was amazing (see pics). Home made maple sausage patties were incredible. Justin did a great job with a very busy restaurant. I would skip the Bloody Mary, but the food is stellar. Update 12-31. The espresso martini was fantastic. Had the steak special with lobster Mac and cheese. It was fantastic. The steak was cooked to a true medium rare. Chicken club was very good, huge portion. Salmon New Orleans was very good. Salmon was very well cooked. Also had the lobster roll. It was delightful again.

Decided to try out Mallards for our Anniversary dinner. We had Buffalo Wings and the Cajon Shrimp Boil. We were very pleased with both. Matt, our server, was social, attentive, answered our questions and got the food to us while it was still steaming hot. We both left feeling we had chosen the right place for our special occasion.

My husband and I wanted to try somewhere new for a date night and we found Mallard’s online. I booked a reservation and I’m glad we did, it was very busy on a Saturday night. The ambiance is very coastal and cute, and they even sold these little wooden sailboats for $8 that I was very tempted to buy. They have a large amount of gluten-friendly options. My husband ordered the Salmon and I ordered the Surf and Turf. My filet was done to perfection and the shrimp was covered in a buttery glaze, it was so good. We were very happy with our meals and the service overall. I also told the waitstaff I needed my meal to be gluten-free and afterwards I did not have any symptoms of cross-contamination. We’d definitely come back!

First time trying this place and it did not disappoint! We shared the lobster roll and jambalaya, pro tip:dip the roll in the jambalaya sauce 🤤. Staff and service were very friendly and fast, always checking in to see how things were and if we needed anything else. Our server was Matt, he was amazing! We live an hour away but will definitely be back again!

Excellent seafood restaurant with a ton of delicious menu options, great service, a nice rooftop patio area, and a good selection of tap beers and wines. We had the admirals platter with crab cakes and coconut shrimp. The crab cakes were just average, but the coconut shrimp was excellent. We had the crab queso dip which was phenomenal. We also had the Nashville hot chicken wings which were excellent as well. The service was fast and friendly.

This establishment offers an exceptional dining experience, making it an ideal choice for romantic dinners and family gatherings. The appetizers and boil shrimp and crab are particularly noteworthy, providing a delightful culinary experience.

This restaurant is a little gem with a nice patio and atmosphere. The drinks and food were absolutely delicious. My mahi mahi was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. Justin was an excellent server with the right amount of checking in and letting you just enjoy the experience. Thanks, Justin! We will definitely be back.

We stopped here for dinner after being at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. We had looked at the menu online beforehand and very much looked forward to eating. Upon arrival, we were well taken care of. I think our server was Juan. He was amazing. The food did not disappoint. I had the Mallards Melt and i can honestly say it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. We will definitely be back when we are in the area!

Always a good place for good food. Didn't disappoint again. Went for the last day of lobster fest. The lobster stuffed crab cake was out of this world. Also got the lobster taquitos, regular crab cakes and the shrimp & pico. **Update Had to go back and visit. Today we had Justin as a bartender and he was super awesome. He is personable, fun and made Sunday a super fun day. Good food as always!

We went on a week night because we were hoping for it to be quieter and we were happy to know that we chose right. Juan was our waiter and he was not only friendly but very knowledgeable about the menu. He was able to guide us on some options for our meal. We ended up getting the crab dip, chicken and waffles and the surf and turf. Everything was very flavorful and satisfying. We are looking forward to coming back to get some of the other things on the menu like the Gammy’s meatloaf or the harvest salad. They have outdoor seating for the better weather time with great views of the trees and the river.

This should be the number one place in Shakopee for Happy Hour Specials. The service is fantastic, the food is delicious & the atmosphere is great. The patio is still open with this great fall weather. I'd definitely recommend dining here. You won't be disappointed. They also have a craft night on Mondays, once a month. Lots of talented, fun ladies and art projects. The Peanut Buddy beer is amazing! Great dessert drink.

What a great little place. I had heard of Mallards so decided to stop in and have dinner. Pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Very clean. Great food. Service was top notch! Hannah was our server and I can’t say enough!

We ordered the lobster roll. Excellent! Every bite was absolutely delicious. Also got the jambalaya and the serving was huge, good enough to split with another person. The kids mac n cheese was amazing too! Everything we ate was great. Will definitely be going back and recommending to family and friends!

I don't typically write reviews but my husband and I had a rare date night out at Mallards and had a pretty unique experience so I thought I'd share. We were seated at a high top in the bar and were greeted pretty quickly by the bartender Mason, who was going to be our server for the evening as well. He took our drink order and had them out to us in no time. A few minutes later he took our appetizer/main course order and let us know that the kitchen was a little backed up at the moment, but that he would be sure to stay on top of things and get our food order in as soon as possible. I was seated facing the kitchen and I noticed soon after that Mason had pivoted from bartender/server to expeditor and some other helpful staff had filled in behind the bar. The entire restaurant was slammed but everyone seemed to be working together really well. The next thing I knew, our bartender/server/expeditor Mason had thrown a hat on and was on the line helping the kitchen staff dig out from beneath a pile of tickets that looked like they'd come in all at once. It seriously looked like a scene from "Kitchen Nightmares". Our food did end up taking a little bit longer than normal (understandably) but it was delicious as always. Mason ended up coming out of the kitchen after a bit to check on everyone and got back behind the bar. I told him that this was the first time we'd ever had the same person be our bartender/server/expeditor/cook when dining out (and probably our last!) All in all it was a really great coordinated effort by everyone on staff that evening and we had a great time. Mallards never disappoints, and Mason absolutely deserves to be celebrated.

We love Mallard’s! And last night was as good as ever. We introduced 2 friends to Mallard’s last night, and they loved it as well. Between the 4 of us, we had blackened fish tacos, blackened ahi tuna, shrimp and grits(a favorite of my wife), and the jambalaya(a new favorite of mine)! The only thing about the jambalaya, it could use more andouille sausage, otherwise it was perfect! Amazing flavors! And our server, Annie, is the best of the restaurant! We’ve had her wait our table before, and if she’s working, we will request her section! Highly recommend!

Annie was our server and she was FANTASTIC! As it was our first visit to Mallards (we are from Canada), she was very helpful with information and food recommendations, but best of all, her bubbly and friendly personality made our visit memorable!! The food was delicious, and if we are ever back in the area, we will be back for another dinner and visit with Annie!

We had an amazing time at the Shakopee location Mallards. Justin was our server and did an absolutely amazing job for being attentive, genuine, and also a comedian. The food was amazing with flavor and diverse options from the menu. Definitely recommend!

My husband and I got takeout tonight for our anniversary from Mallards. The food was delicious. We both got jambalaya and it was delicious. We also got the walleye bites they were okay, but next time we will try the crab queso... We will definitely be back again. And the price for the amount and quality of the food was cheap in comparison to how good it really was.

Went there for lunch. The jalapeño cornbread was phenomenal! Smasburger, sliders, and lobster bisque soup were all quite good. Atmosphere was nice.

This is a cozy place in Shakopee serving seafood. We've been here a few times and tried different dishes and have generally appreciated the variety of flavors. Portion sizes are good, but not monster. I would recommend making a reservation during peak hours.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner at Mallards. We ordered the fried walleye bites for our appetizer which were very tasty and fried to perfection. The Gammy’s meatloaf was yummy with lots of flavor and served with homemade mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Our server, Hannah, was spot on and provided us with excellent service!

Love coming here, especially on Thursdays for crab legs night! They are cooked to perfection and so delicious. I always swear I will not work for my food - except for this. It’s worth it. This time, Justin was our server and he is amazing! His sense of humor is so fun and he clearly loves what he does. The restaurant got busier after we got here and we saw Justin work so hard, yet he still took time to chat with us and have a good time. Thank you, Mallards and Justin for such a memorable night!

Annie was one of the most incredible waitresses i've ever encountered. She was kind, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the jerk chicken nachos per her recommendation, and they were phenomenal; sweet and spicy. I ordered the pistachio crusted salmon as my main, and it was the best salmon i've ever had. I eat salmon every day, and order it at every restaurant i visit. We will be back!

We stopped in on NYD at the Shakopee location and had a fabulous lunch. Great atmosphere. We can’t wait to visit in the summer as they have fun outdoor seating. Our food (Tennessee hot chicken sandwich and Mallard’s melt) was delish. So many things on the menu sound good, it was difficult to choose. And above all, the service was outstanding. Very attentive but not in an overbearing way. Asher was fantastic. We will be back. Thanks!

I saw the promotion for crab legs on Thursday and the experience was incredible. Matt was our server and made us feel at home. The food was fantastic, we were even able to enjoy some happy hour specials. Heading back tonight!

I have to say they have one of the best appetizer dip out there! Their fish dishes are delicious! Seasoning was good and the veggies amd rice were soft. Flavorful sangria too!

Mallards Restaurant offers a cozy dining experience just a quick climb up a flight of stairs. If you're planning a visit, be sure to check if it's happy hour—it's a great way to enjoy some savings on drinks and possibly appetizers. As for the food, the crab cake was just okay, not particularly memorable but decent. The highlight of the meal was definitely the seafood boil, which was nicely seasoned and full of flavor. Overall, Mallards is worth checking out if you're in the area, especially during happy hour.

The food is delicious but I ordered the salmon and was served the jambalaya. I didn’t send it back because it was on my list to try. The bartender was also our waitress so the drinks were good and quick but she was busy. The special old fashion was $13 but well made. It’s a little noisy during the evening rush but not so bad we couldn’t talk. We highly recommend.

Crab cakes for appetizers were delicious with the spicy aioli. Mains were shrimp and grits, very good, and lobster roll, tasty but a couple stray shell fragments detracted from it. Service was great and food arrived at a nice pace. We'll come back!

Nice gem of a restaurant in Shakopee. SERVICE: Great service starting with the hostess to our waitress. Our waitress was attentive and ensured we were familiar with the menu selection. FOOD: We thought our meals were good. Our food was served in what we thought was a timely manner. ATMOSPHERE: There are internal and outside dining options. We dined outside and thought it was great. Of course this sort of dining arrangement will be highly dependent on the weather We will definitely be back again

Flavor wasn’t the best had more potato’s and corn on the cob than anything else nice portion of the shrimps but very pricey and the clusters were pretty small

*Update* The very next day, on a Sunday, after I left this review the general manager reached out and had a conversation about our experience. She was so friendly and truly wanted to know what went wrong so they could give feedback and make things better. She gave us a gift card to return and try again. We haven’t had a chance yet but we will definitely give it another shot. I was blown away by the responsiveness and kindness she showed. I will update my review once we return. Unfortunately, the server was inattentive; but she’s young and we can understand that. But outside of the appetizer (corn fritters) the food was not good. My steak was blackened on the outside and the mashed potatoes and green beans were ice cold. Cooking a ribeye is tricky sometimes, the rendered fat creates flare ups; I think the cook wasn’t paying attention and it was absolutely charred. The internal temp was pretty good but the meat was very tough. The eating experience was more like a bottom tier sirloin instead of a $50 ribeye. My wife got a salad which was under seasoned and basically a bowl of cabbage. The other folks in our party got fish tacos which tasted fine but the tortillas were so soggy they had to be eaten with a fork. We had to stop at McDonalds afterwards to get some food in our bellies.

We waited over half an hour for a beer and a mixed drink, only after I stood up and searched for someone to help us with getting them. Our food was okay. The gumbo did not have a lot of flavor. The seafood roll also lacked flavor, and was not filled the entire (short) length of the roll - I left 1/4 of it on the plate as it was just bread and shredded lettuce. Our server asked us three times what we ordered…she just underwhelming did her job. Can’t say as we will be back. Great concept but just under delivered.

C
Christopher Jankowski

Our inaugural visit to this establishment was underwhelming and likely our last. Upon making our reservation, we anticipated prompt seating, but unfortunately, that was not the case. There was no hostess present to greet us, and the atmosphere seemed chaotic, with numerous patrons waiting in line without any acknowledgment from staff. After approaching an employee, we were informed that our requested table by the window was unavailable for the foreseeable future. We opted for an alternative table and were eventually attended to by our waiter, who provided water without inquiry or introduction. Throughout our dining experience, our waiter struggled to recall our orders. While the presentation of the salmon and fettuccine shrimp was impressive, the execution of my sea bass and risotto was lacking, particularly with regards to the excessive oil. Notably, the crab cakes were misshapen. No complimentary offerings or apologies were extended for the delay or table assignment issue. The absence of patio heaters diminished the enjoyment of the outdoor seating area. However, the bartender was courteous and welcoming. It would be beneficial for the owner to appoint a competent hostess to ensure a warm welcome for all guests.

We went there for Sunday Bruch last weekend. Service was excruciatingly slow. We ordered Brunch and 4 drinks. 3 of those drinks came after about 30 minutes wait time, each. one was less than 2 minutes. All where the same, orange mimosa's.( Just orange juice and champagne, pretty simple. ) I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. When I lived and travelled in the South, I ordered grits many times. Normally the consistency was like Cream of Wheat but at the day in question the grits were more like clumped meatloaf. Also I thought it was very cold in the restaurant. Ambient temp outside was about 0 degrees. I never took my coat off during our visit. The dining room is also dirty. You need to invest in "high dusting service", the HVAC ducts/pipes are covered with dust. So the reason I gave you 2 stars because of poor service, poor facility management and questionable food. PS; The waiter did apologize for the slow service, suggesting they were short staffed in the kitchen. That is not my problem. There was no sign on the door stating." Expect poor service, we are under staffed today."

A about a month ago I was there and had such a good experience and all the food for everyone in our group was so delicious. So much so that the crab and shrimp boil for two I bragged up to my husband. From the portion size the fact they served both people each butter in a cup of soup size container and even after both people ate from it, let others taste some of it they still had enough food to fill 2 to-go boxes. So over this last weekend we decided to order this close to $80.00 meal with tax included that I have been bragging about! It was one of the worst meals we ever had. Granted we got it to go and even though we are less than 2 miles the food just Luke warm if that but understand that’s chances you take doing pick up but even leaving that part out …we couldn’t see any seasoning on anything in our aluminum to-go container the amount of food for our entire order appeared to be less than what my friends had as left overs the amount of butter included for both of us to share was in an (on the side salad dressing container) less butter than cocktail sauce. The little potatoes appeared to be a few the size of an egg cut into a few pieces were still hard, the corn same way not cooked (boiled enough) shrimp bland we could NOT SEE or TASTE! Any seasoning. On corn, shrimp or potatoes (sausage had flavor) The crab leg shells so soft that we couldn’t just snap a little and pull the meat out ( this I can let slide a little more because I don’t believe the restaurant had control over that) I am thinking maybe the person that took our order forgot to put it in right away so the kitchen forced to throw something together quick not sure…. Final complaint when husband got back in car after pickup he had made the comment about cashier not speaking at ALL not hi not the price he said he was there to pickup, she took his payment handed him the bag not thank you no good bye not a word which he thought more so odd but kind of rude as well.
