Opinions de La Placita Salvadorean Cocina Sherman
This is a great hole-in-the-wall type of joint! The food was amazing! Particularly, the chicken quesadillas were a must buy next time we come back! Recommend to anyone craving some authentic Mexican food! Cute mini food store inside too 🙂
The best Mexican food we’ve had in 5+ years of living in Texas. Pupusas and tacos were unreal. Amazing fresh taste!
Came here because I was homesick and really wanted some authentic pupusas and this place delivered. Delicious, plenty of variety and homemade. My homesickness is cured, I will be coming back.
So so good! Probably the best pupusa I’ve ever had. The staff was so kind, and the restaurant has little interesting educational sheets about El Salvador. There is also a decent amount of the good glass bottled sodas and beverages and other Hispanic goodies. Would 1000% recommend.
Tried this little place for the first time and was very happily pleased. Roger was awesome in explaining the menu and ingredients for us. We tried a little bit of everything. I was very grateful for his wonderful customer service skills. We highly recommend to everyone. Thank you la placiita, we'll be back soon.
Pupusa and Bistek Tacos were absolutely amazing. Tried other places which closed early, this place was on the way home so we stopped and so glad we did. We will definitely be back for more! Such good taste and price!
My husband and I absolutely adore this little spot. It is truly a hidden gem. Let me start by saying this loud and clear: this is authentic Salvadoran food, and no, it is not Mexican food. Please know the difference y’all. Every dish carries the heart and heritage of El Salvador, and you can taste the tradition in every bite. The moment we walked in, we felt at home. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, yet full of character. It feels like you have been welcomed to someone’s table rather than just a restaurant. There is a vibrancy to the space and an authenticity that you cannot fake. And the food? Incredible. From the pupusas to the sides, every flavor was rich, comforting, and unforgettable. This is the kind of food that does not just fill your stomach but wraps you in a memory. We left feeling nourished in both body and soul. La Placita is the kind of place that reminds you why food matters. It is culture, it is family, it is beauty on a plate. If you want real Salvadoran food in Sherman, this is it. A true treasure.
I've taken my girlfriend here a few times. We both love this place. Their quesadillas are good but their Tacos are even better. Idk how they make them so soft but they are perfect and full of flavor.
We celebrated my friends birthday there. I loved the food and the atmosphere. There is also a mini grocery store inside. You can get everything from authentic Salvadorean food to, bread, candy, juaritos sodas. There was a bunch of different kinds of chips, every kind of snack you could ever imagine. They have agua frescas. There was pina agua frescas, cantaloupe, even a few more flavors to choose from. As far as the food, everything was very fresh. I could tell it was all homemade. The food was served with a smile and I would recommend anyone going to give it a try.
The best pupusas in Sherman, hands down. Great service too. $1.85 cheese pupusas 🤤 2025 Update: They are still awesome! Delicious food, friendly services and did I say delicious food?! Pictured below is their Chicharrón De Pescado plate. Fish, beans, guacamole, queso, crema and corn tortilla/gordita type thing. Also, their deserts are delicious too!
This unique restaurant was quite a surprise. We saw it advertised while traveling to San Antonio and pulled off I-35. It is quite close to the interstate (about 3/4 mile). Don't let the external appearance fool you. It looks like a converted, corner gas station. Inside, it is a grocery store and restaurant. Service was great and the food was authentic Salvadoran. Worthy of stopping by and enjoying a good meal.
Delicious food! Papusas were my favorite, but everything was so good. My husband's favorite were the empanadas. (I loved those too!) We tried a LOT! They have snacks, sodas, and bakery items as well. Everyone was very friendly, and service was fast. We will look forward to going again.
What a find on our way from Austin to Fayetteville, AR. El Salvador food in a renovated gas station right off Hwy 75. We stopped for a light taco lunch and were treated to fresh, flavorful food and friendly service. If you don't know what to order, just ask, super helpful staff. Authentic food and service.
Great place! I was vegetarian today as I tried the papusa. One thing is that there was hardly any of the other ingredients in it and mostly just cheese. I thought they were made to order but they’re premade. Otherwise I wouldve got it without cheese. I loved the salsa and pickled cabbage that was on the side, so good! Highly recommend everyone in the area to check them out.
We travel often from San Antonio, TX to Oklahoma and finally stumbled upon this gem on our way back home. I'm often disappointed in the experiences I have when trying other salvadorean restaurants in the Dallas area but this was not the case here. Everything was DELICIOUS and fresh! Yes, it took a little while to get our food but it was worth it. The young lady waiting the tables was very attentive despite there being a lunch crowd. The lady at the cashier was also nice and helpful. As we all know, most salvadorean places have a bad rap for providing slow service and subpar food (at least that's been my experience every single time) but I assure you this isn't the case here. The pastelitos were my favorite but everything was delicious! Highly recommend!!
We have been here in the past and had a nice meal. Yesterday was a bit disappointing. The food was just not that tasty. Also, be warned, if you order the fried tilapia expecting a nice filet, you’ll be surprised. They serve the entire fish. OK, I get it, that’s how it’s done. I just wish there was something on the menu telling you that. I’m not a fan of the process of dissecting the fish to get little pieces of flesh. Also not a fan of waiting in line to order and then waiting in line, again, to pay.
