My family was very pleased with this little place in Slaton. The food was homemade and the staff was very friendly. It reminds me of the restaurants we had when I was a kid. We had the specials. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes (real), and blackeyed peas for 8.50. You can't beat that deal.

GREAT FOOD!!! First timer here but let me tell you I have stopped in every time i an in Slaton. Stopped in on J.J.'s birthday, the bar was transformed in to a dessert bar. And it was free!!!! Any kind of dessert you could want and as much as you could want!!!! The best sweet tea in Texas!!!! Great food!!!! Great staff!!!!!

Awesome I just moved here from PHOENIX Az. And don't have a vehicle yet. And i needed some groceries and i live at on 20th st and decide to walk up to United grocery I'm diabetic and a bad leg.and ur waitress there was very very nice to let me use the bathroom not many places let u use the facilities and since i been here people r very hospitality like the south in PHOENIX is like Solomon and Gomorrah ur waitress name is Priscilla i thank her from the bottom of my heart i will keep her in mind. Best chicken fried steak and burgers around. No pre-breaded, frozen, or cryovaced meat. Fresh, homemade and good is what you get at JJ's. Joy and Jody (the two J's that own it) are true west Texas treasures.

I had the CFS And it was a pretty good size with real mashed potatoes and steak smothered with lots of creamy gravy👍👍👍

This is a small cafe in Slaton just off Hwy 84 on Division. Food is homemade and I especially like the frito pie. They make a great chicken fried steak, burgers and fries and more.

Nothing great...decent comfort food. The gas station east down division street, has great burgers...i would try them for a burger.

Would have been perfect but there were flies all around the salad bar and there was a dead fly in one of the salad dressing. I brought it to their attention and all they did was cover it and continued to let customers eat from it

I read the reviews before ordering and chose the steak fingers with onion rings and a salad. The onion rings and salad were good but the batter on the steak fingers was too big for the meat itself and none of it stayed on. The few peices that managed to keep batter where very bland. If I go back I definitely won't be ordering the steak fingers.

Food was good but service was horrible. Our waitress was too concerned with hanging out of the drive through window chatting and carrying on full conversations with whoever was out there than to pay attention to her tables. At one point she had a 20 min conversation with someone out there. Never asked us even once if we needed anything or if everything was ok. Needless to say we never got any refills on our drinks either.

The onion rings and tortilla chips were really good. However, everything else was just "meh". There was a significant amount of flies buzzing around, and there were people smoking, which in itself is enough to make me not go back.

Im expecting the Best rabbit fries aka French bies aka rabbits foot this Easter... ad the hair Ball is said to come out perrtty Easey and yeah... AL these paid commentators seem to be all over it.. the 3 piece set and like attractig likes 👍 1 more and a poke and a 7up to make up your own... like grabbing a bite of nachos and they re all 1 bloody good nacho.. Dirty, crass. Even menu was filthy. Crude, rude service. Thought they might be filming a truck stop comedy.

I ordered take out at 8:30 pm on Saturday night had the chicken fried steak buy 1 get 1 half price it cost me $16 and the food was horrible the toast was soggy the potatoes were cold ,dry,and hard ,the vegetables stunk,the chicken fry was tough,the salad had a big chunk of the lettuce heart and to top it off no napkins it silverware guess I had to eat with my hands will never go back unless manager/owner talks with me and makes it right oh waitress very snappy and rude

My father-in-law heard good reviews and wanted to get dinner here a couple nights ago, the food smelled great from the outside but as soon as I entered the doors I was hit with cigarette smoke and couldn't breathe and could not get out fast enough. I don't know if that is a regular occurrence since it was our first time visiting there, but I'm not going to repeat that experience.

My husband and I went in there and my husband asked for a philly and we asked the waitress if the buns were hoagies or hot dog buns. Due to an experience a month ago and they clearly said they were hoagies. Well we get our food and his philly is served with a hot dog bun. The table was dirty there were dead flies in the window sill and you could see the back of the wall in the kitchen very dirty. Health department needs to be notified due to how this place looks. We will never go back again. Filthy and disgusting

Horrible service every time! Food isn't that great and it's not very clean inside. The attitude of the workers is pretty close to how you'll find the place. We'll just give the other restaurants in town service if we're going to get bad service all the time.

Pulled in at 7:15pm and all the lights were on and fans still turning but the door was locked. No sign or notice on the door stating that they had closed early. Unfortunate because their food is generally really good.

When received my food the fries were old and burnt and my mother's hamburger steak was burnt and hard,I was told they would remake the fries and my mother's meal,well when I came back to pick up the new order I brought in my meal to show the owner how hard and burnt my fries were and she told me some people like them like that...these fries were so hard you could literally break it by just squeezing it...they need to get better cooks that know how to make a good meal and not burn the food so bad that you can't even eat or enjoy your meal..and the owner needs to learn how to be more polite and understanding when it comes to these kinds of things... definitely will NOT be coming here again !!! Total waste of time and money !!!
