Opinions de MacDuff's Pub South Lake Tahoe
Great restaurant and beautiful. Plenty of parking space! Great tasty menu and affordable. The staff were amazing and was able to make my experience dining with them memorable. I brought a fish for the chef to cook and they cooked up 3 dish for me as one standard price! And my dish taste amazing! I would recommend you to give it a shot if you haven’t already. Oh and that salad was delicious with my fish as well!
It was a very uk themed pub. The food was fantastic. Pub style food like burgers fish n chips, and shepherds pie. In the bottom half the have a wood style pizza oven setup. Full bar with local beers and ale's. Looks sketchy from the outside, but the atmosphere inside is fantastic. Its a little cramped when it gets busy tho so be aware if you don't like tight spaces.
So happy that I checked out this pub on a whim! Fun atmosphere, excellent service (even during a busy time). I was pretty pleased with the tap list and the food was excellent. We had the French onion soup and chicken nuggets (with tons of fun dipping options!) from the appetizer menu. I plan on returning soon to check out entrees!
This place is a Gem! Great pub atmosphere in the bar area, great food and great service! Maui onion rings have that perfect light batter...not greasy and an ample serving for 2. Need some comfort, have the Shepards pie with lamb. Amazing. Fried fish sandwich was lightly battered, cooked perfectly and tasted Great! All the servers were helpful and accommodating!
A warm pub featuring some classics like Sheppards pie and cottage pie. I got the Shepards pie and was impressed with how tasty the lamb and gravy was. They have Guinness on draught which added to the authentic vibe it was going for. We also got the clam chowder bread bowl which was delicious and a hefty portion
We love it here! So much that we had our wedding reception at MacDuffs!!! The owners are amazingly accommodating, kind and generous. They set us up with Ayden, who coordinated and managed our event. They went above and beyond to make our vision come to life and then some! I highly, highly, highly recommend stopping by for the delicious, elevated pub fare, incredible beer and drink menus and warm/friendly atmosphere, but would also suggest holding your event here. It was perfect!
Al fresco and inside seating. British pub fare. They will also cook YOUR catch of the day. Best fish meal I've had in a long time. Fish is prepared three ways - blackened, fried, and grilled with a dill sauce. Served with French fries, veggies, and a salad. Drop off your catch at least 2 hours before you plan on dining. They open at 11 AM for dropoff and lunch.
A great Irish style pub serving some very good hearty food cooked by what appears to be a Latin staff that knows how to cook the good stuff. Kudos to these chefs / cooks. The bars below and above on two floors provide an enthusiastic and energetic fun atmosphere! Must try if you have not been here. A plus to Lake Tahoe.
This restaurant is spectacular. I have been here several times for several occasions. Most recently my trip with a few friends who have disabilities stood out to us. The opened the bottom floor for us because my friend can't go upstairs even though it was not previously open. They offered, we didn't ask- and this doesn't go unnoticed. Very kind and in tune with my special needs group. The food is beautiful, the best French onion soup I've ever had! And getting into thr more British dishes, they are homemade and on point. The best British style pub in tahoe i have been to 5+ times and will return
First the fact that this place was pet friendly was a major reason we chose this place. They even bring out a dog bowl of water for your baby. But also the food looked amazing. And they did not disappoint. It was great we sat outside on the patio. The servers where always around asking if we needed anything. Would highly recommend.
Sure, here's a review of MacDuff's Public House in Tahoe based on the dishes you ordered: --- I recently had the pleasure of dining at MacDuff's Public House in Tahoe, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The outdoor seating provided a perfect ambiance to enjoy a summer evening meal. Here’s a bit about what I ordered and why I’m already planning my next visit. First up was their classic French Onion Soup. Served in a charming bread bowl and topped with a generous layer of melted cheese and fresh green onions, this dish was a comforting masterpiece. The soup itself was rich and savory, with the perfect balance of sweetness from the caramelized onions and a touch of tang from the broth. The cheese crust was crispy and golden, adding a delightful texture contrast. It’s the kind of dish that warms you from the inside out – a true comfort food staple done right. Next, I indulged in their Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. This vibrant dish was as visually stunning as it was delicious. The salad featured fresh arugula, sweet roasted beets, creamy goat cheese, and juicy mandarin orange segments, all topped with crunchy candied walnuts. The combination of flavors and textures was exquisite – the earthiness of the beets paired beautifully with the tangy goat cheese, while the sweetness of the oranges and walnuts added a delightful contrast. The salad was accompanied by two dressings: a tangy balsamic vinaigrette and a bright, pink beet dressing. Both complemented the salad perfectly, allowing you to tailor each bite to your taste. The service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. MacDuff's Public House is definitely a gem in Tahoe, offering hearty, flavorful dishes that make you feel right at home. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming setting.
Hipster bar with hearty food. Clockwork White Ale: deliciously sweet. Darwin Series Sour beer: refreshing; perfect for hot days/nights. Guinness beef stew: warm, hearty with loads of veggies and chunky beef drenched over sourdough. Fish and chips pieces were perfectly seasoned dipped in house-made batter; comes with 3 big pieces. I wanted to try the wood oven pizza but we were stuffed. A must stop especially if you are staying at the Hotel Azure next door (15% discount for hotel guests).
Such an amazing place! A lot of people when we went (means it's popular) but seated quickly. People are fantastic! You don't just get one person helping you, they just bounce around helping everyone. Really cool! Food was really good. I got the Mac N Cheese (they allow you to add pizza toppings if you want!) Fun atmosphere!
Fair prices, generous portions, attentive & friendly staff. We always patronize this location whenever we are in the area.

Food was yummy, and the service was good.\nThe room was a little chilly, even though they have thick heavy velvet curtains, it felt cold.

Old world pub atmosphere. The Shepherd's pie was really good. My husband's fish and chips were a little bit mushy. The appetizer of huge onion rings was really good. It was particularly cold temperature in there.
We were so excited that this place would prepare and serve our fresh catch of fish, and they did a great job, however, our food came and our drink order never came, until we reminded another server and also, I personally felt the wait person we had as well as other waitstaff were quite improperly dressed to serve food. Low, low cut top, armpits showing, and short, short skirts, not attractive. The manager was kind enough to comp our drinks, after we were charged for a margarita we never received so, that was cool. Anyway, the food was great.
We were turned onto this place by our guide who mentioned that if we caught fish, we could bring it here and have it cooked. Note that you must drop off your fish and make a reservation for at least 2 hours later. Pros: awesome atmosphere - good music and environment. Well seasoned and cooked fish, they cooked our fish in three different ways. The fries are solid (crispy & properly salted). Cons: Lots of alcohol options, however not really any options for mocktails which is kinda disappointing for our non alcohol members. Staff was attentive however seemed to forget one member of our party when it came to ordering food and drinks. Despite this we would return again. Seeing all the positive reviews its very likely our experience is not what the average experience is. I recommend trying this restaurant for yourself and make your own judgements.
So we went there based on a reccomendation from hotel and some that live in the area. We had an assortment of things, cottage pie, shepards pie GF option, a sausage pizza, fish n chips, bacon mac n cheese, and a burger. So the cottage and shepards pie they enjoyed thoroughly, mac n cheese enjoyed, pizza, was enjoyed. However, fish n chips well heres where it went a little off. Fish was good the fries were dreadfully soggy and greasy. They were mealy mushy texture and just gross. Did not eat and just left them. Then theres the burger....burger was very underwhelming. There was no seasoning on it, it was just bland. Salt and pepper goes a very long way....then the mealy mushy grease sogged down fries...absolutely not good. Left half of burger and all the fries. I had a better burger at 5 guys to be honest. In photos it looks great. Maybe stick to the irish fare and get a better experience? As for the atmosphere, it was noisy, and we felt we had to speak to one another louder than you'd expect over a dinner table. I've been to allot of restaurants in my travels, I feel there are better experiences to be had elsewhere.
We ordered clam chowder chicken wings and pizza... and it didn't disappoint me and my family.. good food! (Winter Season)

Kids screaming in the dining room and cussing really killed the entire mood. They are cussing and using foul language really is not good for the business
Great spot with a cozy atmosphere. Most of the food was delicious, and staff was welcoming. A minor delay with drinks, but overall very enjoyable. I'd definitely come back again.

Could be better but ok for a pub what’s not ok is $28 Burger $29 fish and chips or $15 side of French fries for a shocking Bidenomic inflation price of $15 - um nearly $30 dollars for pub fare not even in Vail or Aspen have I seen a rundown local pub charge $30 for pub fare food. Never. I only had a few pints of beer but had I know I could have gone to the bowling alley across the street and had a beer for $4.50 I would have gone there first. Atmosphere was depressing no sexy barmaid or friendly bartender just a couple just there guys in sweats. My mate ate an order of $15 fries and $12 French onion soup. That’s correct $15 for French Fries - even at Governor Newsome’s favorite restaurant - 5 star French Laundry - fries are $13 and there they come with fancy ketchup truffle salt and Dijon dipping sauce sauce, at Mcduffs you get 10oz of fries that’s it. Disgusting price to charge- no excuse for it it’s just greed. My mate said food sucked and I asked a couple how their food was they said ok ! But $157 with tax and tip for 2 beers each 2 Shepard pies and a shared salad at a pub - well that’s just robbery. Beer is cold as is the atmosphere My suggestion is go somewhere else. A pint of beer is between $9 to $13 need we say more. They were friendly to us lgbtq queens so they are gay and lesbian friendly like most restaurants in Tahoe. Overall not impressed and won’t recommend or go back. The $15 side of fries is memorable

The food was mediocre at best. We received our food late and the server kept ignoring us. We do not recommend this place unless you want to have a bad experience. Not sure how it is rated so high.
