GREAT VALUE... DINER FOOD, LARGE PORTIONS, QUALITY FOOD COOKED WELL ALL FOR THE PRICE OF A FAST FOOD MEAL apprx $15... the turnkey, "blue plate" meals for each day has best value... and the Turkey and Dressing with sides are food items I buy regularly
My friend and I love this place. The service is great starting with a older colored gentleman in the front. The food is great and the biscuits are big and taste out of this world.!
Avalon Diner is a true old-school gem that never disappoints. From the classic diner vibe to the consistently great service, it always feels like home when you walk in. I had the Frito Pie today, and let me tell you—it was absolutely perfect for a cold, dreary day. Hot, hearty, and packed with flavor. This is comfort food done right. If you’re craving classic diner food with friendly service and a cozy atmosphere, Avalon Diner is always a solid choice.
I go here once a week for breakfast, usually on Saturday. The first thing I get when I walk in the door is a friendly smile and a hearty handshake from Darryl. He then shows me to my table. No more than a minute after sitting down, I will be greeted by my server, usually Jocelyn. She comes back quickly with my drinks and takes my food order. The food typically arrives about 5 minutes later. It is almost always perfectly prepared. It’s a good meal and not too expensive. I recommend the Big Breakfast and the omelettes. They have good coffee, also.
My first time here Stafford location Have heard of it for years and was interested because coy Ramsey and i were in school together 12 years Nice expansive but simple menu to get around Good service Quickly provided requested comdiments Staff was friendly even those not serving my table Had cfs with eggs and hashbrowns Now anyone can tell you i am not a breed eater AT ALL but their homemade biscuits are indescribable Melt in your mouth Highly recommended
First time here & Such a cute vibe here. Def old classic. Chocolate milk was yummy, chilaquiles w chicken were tasty & cheesy, loaded w protein. The pancakes were my fave, love a homemade taste. The big breakfast came w 2 biscuits w gravy, super big portion! Everything was great & large portions. I can’t wait to try the lunch/dinner menu for burgers & hotdogs
Homestyle Cooking that satisfies the heart and the belly! Avalon Diner is a staple in the Stafford/Sugar Land community. We hadn’t visited this Diner in several years but popped in for breakfast on a Saturday. Although busy, we were greeted so warmly by the host and manager. They were truly welcoming and pleasant! We ordered breakfast staples - The Mega Meat Omelette and the Corn Hash plus a kid’s meal. We didn’t wait long for the food, maybe 10-13 minutes. The food was warm and exactly what we expected! Our server, kept our coffee mugs filled (the coffee is plain black coffee but so good!). The biscuits were a little piece of dough heaven. The menu here is extensive—something for everyone to enjoy and they serve breakfast all day! Highly recommend! We will be back very soon!
This is our 2nd time here. The first was not a great experience given we arrived 20 minutes before closing it felt as though we were being rushed out, not even a welcoming during our entry was given. It was difficult to enjoy the food and atmosphere when the staff was more worried about closing than quality service. We decided to give this place a 2nd try today, months later and we're pleased with the experience. Our waitress Adrian was very welcoming and attentive. She truly made this 2nd visit a great experience worthy of me making the time for this review. The food was great although the grits were a bit too watery. Overall a great nostalgic diner vibe with some good old fashion homestyle cooking. A true gem in the heart of Sugar Land worth the visit.
I've been coming here for awhile and thought I'm so use to the place I haven't left a review. This is a straight up diner, it's clean, the people are so friendly, there are so many choices on the menu. The gentleman in the pic is one of the kindest, most helpful person every time I come in. I hardly change my go to which is the fried catfish grits and eggs, toast for breakfast. Few places will do that. Everything comes out quick, and hot. If you are a breakfast foodie, this is a great spot. One of my top 3 to go to places.
Good food, love the atmosphere, and great service.
I had the French toast and some smoked sausage. Overall, the food was great. I would't make it an every weekend bruch spot, but I would go back if nothing else comes to mind. My husband had the biscuts and gravey. They could have had more salt and pepper for sure. It was somewhere between IHOP and Dennys overall. The diner itself is pretty cool. The staff weren't very attentive. Overall, good food.
Really nice atmosphere and service. It totally had that diner feel with the cute booths and hanger rack attached at the end. Every server was very nice and prompt, even the host in the front. The food arrived fast and it was really tasty. I definitely would like to come back again for lunch/dinner.
We arrived at about 11:30 on a Monday morning. Parking was fairly easy and the restaurant was about half full. They have an extensive menu of breakfast items and lunch items. Breakfast is served all day. I chose the chili dog and french fries. The french fries were crispy and the chili dog was good . I also got as a treat the vanilla malt. My vanilla malt tasted more like a milkshake and was missing a lot of the malt flavor. They give you the glass full and then whatever is left over they give it to you in the tin that it is mixed in. As I was finishing up my malt that was left in the bottom of the tin mixing cup I discovered why my malt was lacking in flavor as most of the malt was in the very bottom and clumped up. That is my only complaint for this visit. We enjoyed the restaurant and there are many more things on the menu that we look forward to trying.
Wanted to smell some tasty food as we entered but just smelled cleaner very strong and was a little warm in there. No one at front to greet just a seat yourself sign. Anyway good came pretty fast and you get an extra metal shake cup with your lemonade. Everything was pricey in my opinion, food was pretty tasty.
I went early Sunday morning, there was a good crowd. Having been around for a while I was anxious to try this restaurant. I was a bit disappointed with the food. Although, the prices were reasonable, the food was just bland. However, very good when you add a bunch of salt and pepper.
Another disappointing lunch. Avalon Diner was in the area I was working and thought I’d give it a whirl. Upon entering the diner is all that of what a diner should feel like. The place was really clean with an old time comfy spirit. My waitress Adrian was super sweet and extremely attentive. (Even though she forgot a few things I mentioned I couldn’t be upset with her because she was so nice)😊 The only bad review (which is essential) is the food. 🥘 I tried ordering two things off the menu and both had been unavailable. I finally settled on the turkey/dressing which was really bad. The turkey tasted old and extremely salty. Although the coffee is top-notch👍 I don’t enjoy saying restaurants serve bad food but lets hope you have a better meal than me if you stop by. Happy Eating!
Do not order from their website. Apparently they are not “affiliated”. We ordered food, paid for the food, and when we go to pick it up, we are told, “we are not affiliated with the website that has our name, address, and phone number. Miguel Sanchez refused any type of refund, nor would just not fulfill the order. Although he has “managed” this establishment for 20 years, he was too worried about losing a few cents of profit, and was too scared to call his supervisor. Honestly, any type of good management would have rectified the website issue. He did say we could call the number on the website, but when we did, the number didn’t work. This is fraud and terrible management. In food service, it would not have been anything to show goodwill and simply APOLOGIZE and fulfill the order. Unacceptable!
I've been here a couple of times. The food is pretty regular, sometimes bland, sometimes decent. Prices are fair for the amount of food you get, but expensive when compared to the actual flavor. We keep getting the same waiter, and while the first time he was okay, on the rest of our visits he kept getting more and more intrusive, making comments that were simply inappropriate for a waiter to make, especially when he doesn't even know us. Despite making it seem like he's joking, he just makes us uncomfortable. We thought it would be a one-time thing, but it repeated with him making "jokes" that shouldn't be made to practically strangers, constantly picking on one of my friends. And as if that wasn't enough, we just felt observed the whole time, making our whole experience even more uncomfortable.
The food was bland and wasn’t seasoned well enough. The owner (he wears a baseball cap) was very creepy, i saw him stare at me and my friends while we were eating our breakfast over there. He was specifically picking on my friend, and she will also give a review as well. He gave me uncomfortable and uneasy vibes. Food is okay but I wouldn’t go there again.
