A very nice place to stop for lunch. A good selection of sandwiches, salads, wraps and soups. Great service and beautiful views from the dining room. The very kind of place you hope to find in the Adirondacks.
Went for a late lunch. Decent menu and very friendly staff. Food was very good. Great prices as well. Nice views of the lake and woods. We went in Feb after snowmobiling. Not many choices in the area but this is a wonderful place.
We had the pork chops with maple carrots and baked potato. The soup of the day was a delicious creamy butternut squash soup. Generous portions, great service. Seemed as if the staff worked together to make sure we were taken care of. Sat by a window with fall foliage outside. Even saw 4 deer! Best restaurant in Speculator! We enjoyed the quietness and the amazing hikes nearby.
Food was great. Service was friendly. Prices were reasonable. Best restaurant in town.
Delicious lunch while traveling from Burlington VT to Syracuse NY. Staff and server were so pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed the buffalo chicken sandwich and Cobb salad and excellent onion rings. Highly recommend this lovely stop!
Stopped for a bite while on a motorcycle ride. The Chicken sandwich special was amazing! Sauce they should bottle! Chicken was cooked PERFECT! Such a great place, will definitely be back!
Took a trip up to the Wells area for a small vacation with friends. Stumbled across this little gem on our way. Staff were very nice, atmosphere inside was great, and the food was spectacular! I tried the Hot Roast Turkey. Would love to stop back!
The food was so amazing and the server, Mindy, was very nice and gave me 2 extra packets of cheese. Also we were going to get a dessert, we told her but then changed our minds, but later she came with the dessert so we got it for free. She was very kind, and at the end she also gave us chocolates. So I definitely recommend this place!
Had a great dinner from the inn, prices aren’t bad for the area, had to get wings because the bills were on, they were great! Philly steak wrap was awesome, could of used more fries with the kids tenders, but the did give us six tenders, so it made up for it
Absolutely phenomenal experience, I visit all the time!
The Inn at Speculator is a charming, cozy spot that truly captures the Adirondack atmosphere. We were in town visiting my fiancée’s nephew, who was lodging with a local family, and this inn made our stay incredibly comfortable and welcoming. The highlight is definitely the food. The chef/owner is a CIA-trained (Culinary Institute of America) chef, and you can taste the difference in every dish—well-executed, flavourful, and generous portions. The fact that the place is run by him and his family gives it an extra warm, personal touch that you don’t get in bigger, more commercial hotels. The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable, and the overall vibe is relaxed and friendly. It felt like a perfect base for visiting family and exploring the area. Highly recommend The Inn at Speculator to anyone visiting—whether for family, outdoor activities, or just a peaceful escape.
Just ate here and we had a delicious meal! With it being Labor Day weekend we knew it might be crowded. We were able to call ahead and make a reservation. They were able to accommodate our large group of 10. The food was delicious. They were very sweet and we will be back again!
This is a review of the restaurant. The atmosphere was good. The service was good. The caesar salad was good. The quality of steak was terrible. Out of a 14 oz. steak maybe there was 6 oz. of eatable meat, the rest was fat and grizzle. The brandy cream sauce was very good. I wanted to give 5 stars but can't for this quality of steak priced at $38. The chef should not have let this steak leave his kitchen. Some grizzle in a steak is not visible, but most of this would have been. I will go back here because the menu looked great, but I won't order steak again. I really should have given 3 stars, but I'm hoping this was a one off. 2nd Review. Had the steak and cheese, it was fantastic, super big portion, super high quality meat. Sat in the bar, extremely friendly service. Upgrading my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Will certainly be back.
Went here while in town for the 4th Annual Southern Adirondack Hamfest. A group of us got together for dinner and drinks. We met at the Bar for a couple of drinks. The bartender was pleasant, and we were served quickly. He was pretty busy, but he made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant was moderately busy, and we had about a 5-minute wait while they got our table ready. The place was nice and clean. The waitress was very nice, and she quickly took our drink orders and, was back in a flash with our drinks and took our orders. Most of us ordered the specials and while it took a bit longer than usual to get our orders, the food was very good. Everyone was very pleasant and nice. I look forward to stopping in again for another meal.
Charming place cold beer and great food.batender was nice and so were the customers.would highly recommend
My wife is in love with this quaint secluded inn. The food was good and the staff/owners were incredibly friendly. Unfortunately we were only passing through on a long drive but we are very tempted to go back to this out of the way haven for an extended stay.
I found them driving in the winter cold and snow looking for a break from driving long distance last year. Had a hot French Onion soup that hit the spot. This time, the friendly two ladies working here remembered me doing the same thing last year, what we talked about l, what I had to eat, and we were all happy to see each other. I saved my appetite this time. I had Carrot Ginger Soup and a Cheese Quesadilla which was great, fried crispy not burned and tasty. Steaks and other entrees sounded good, looked good. 5 star people and food. Review is for the restaurant. I didn't stay in the rooms so I didn't rate the hotel. Thank you ladies for two wonderful meals and warm hearted friendly service with my compliments to the owner and chefs. -Chairman Emeritus "Augustine"
Our meals were fantastic! Service was awesome! My husband had the fish fry. It was very good. The portion was large. He actually couldn't finish it. I had the blackened salmon salad which was excellent. The salmon was cooked perfectly!!!! We are definitely going back. Highly recommend.
We had a delicious dinner here on a rainy holiday Monday. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed, as if we were in a small hometown diner. The food was elegant and delicious as if we were in a fancy big city restaurant. I'm hoping to return soon to try the other options I couldn't get on this visit.
Had lunch here on a business trip. The outside is a little worse for wear, but the inside is charming. Lovely waitstaff. Food was good, especially the dessert. Can't comment on the rooms as I didn't stay.
We loved our impromptu stay while traveling through Adirondack State Park. Staf was fantastic.
Service was good, the company was better. Everyone was very friendly. Dinner was good
The service was great and they accommodated our very large group. (We did make a reservations ahead of time.) The Cobb salad was excellent. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi and did not enjoy it. The rest of us enjoyed our dishes, though!
This was the first time visiting this restaurant. I believe this is a family owned restaurant. At first when you walk in to the left is a bar sitting area but that was closed due to the restaurant had lost their liquor license. ( Not sure why 😬) To the right was the dining area. The entrance is small where you have to wait to be seated. There wasn't a hostess to greet you just who ever walked by that sees you standing there will find a table for you. Ide have to say it is very cozy in the dining area. Like a homey feel like your at your Grandmas house for dinner. The waitress we had was very nice. She understood it was our first time there so we didn't know what to order right away. ( Hopefully she wasn't cursing at us in the back for taking so long. We know we have been in the restaurant business before haha) The menu was confusing. There was a dinner menu that had some appetizers on it and then we were given a bar menu that had other appetizers on it and. The bar menu prices were reasonable. Burgers, wraps, salads, melts. The dinner menu is expensive. The dinners ranged from $26-40. They must not have a soda fountain dispenser because my kids ordered Root beer and it came in bottles so of course if you ask for another one you will get charged again. Some of us ordered steak and I was not to thrilled especially for the price of $38. The steak was a thin cut says ny strip but it was fatty and grisly. The seasoning was tasty. It came with mashed potatoes and 2 asparagus. The mashed potatoes were very luke warm and was very bland. Not creamy. Someone ordered shrimp scampi and it did not look appealing. It came on a bed of rice but since they used a plate the rice was scattered all over and looked watery. Lucky the shrimp was good. On the menu we realized that you could choose pasta or rice but the waitress didn't offer that when our friend was ordering even if she knows what she ordered she should of been asked. At the end of it all we spend almost $300 and left unhappy. Maby we will give it another try but we only visit speculator once a year so probably not. I hope someone else has a better experience.
We ate in the dining room. Service was good, the food not that great.
Waited over an hour for our food when it wasn’t even busy. Then the owner yelled at us for letting the kids play pool at their table while being supervised. Horribly unprofessional and rude.
This was our 2nd time at this restaurant. Two years ago, we went not knowing they had lost their liquor license. The food is only fair. This visit, we went assuming their license had been restored because their website indicates they have wine and beer. When we arrived, it was clear they still do not have their license. The owner/mgr said “I’m sorry, the waitress should have told you when you made the reservation.” I think it was the owner/mgr who took my reservation and she was passing the buck. She told us their license was soon to be restored if NY state gets moving. Remarkably, that is exactly what she said two years ago. We’re not big drinkers, just a beer or glass of wine with dinner. But I do not like being lied to by a restaurant misrepresenting itself. Their website is misleading. Don’t be fooled.
