Service was great! Burgers were awesome and the turtle cheesecake spiked my sugar levels off the charts! We ate inside this because it was too hot outside. We usually eat on the back patio so we can bring our dog.

6/20/18 We went rafting on the Stanislaus River a couple weekends ago and after several hours of fun and sun, we found ourselves in the small town of Knights Ferry. Everyone was ready for a bite in town before setting up our campsite on nearby Lake Tulloch. The River's Edge Restaurant surprised us as we walked in. It's very pretty inside and opens up to a great back patio and even a beachfront area on the river. The portions were great; even the kids menu sized plate was huge. We had lots of drinks and tons of drink refills. Receipt said Chandler was our server - she did a great job! Their house-made Bloody Mary mix was delicious. Strangely, their menu boasts of house-made mustard too, but when we asked for it a bottle of store-bought was brought out with no explanation. That was actually pretty disappointing. My chicken strips were still good though, as were the fries. My boyfriend and his boys all ordered the Reuben, and I enjoyed some of their leftover sandwiches the next day at the lake! Restrooms were clean and it was nice and cool on the patio in the shade - and crazy hot a few feet away in the sun! We really enjoyed the restful, peaceful atmosphere and good food and service.

9/2/23 = Sage was our waitress, there were 3 of us and our dogs. We all loved Sage, she was great. The hostess was awesome too and kept bringing water to the dogs. We had tuna melts and veggie burger, all awesome. The bread pudding with bourbonsauce is to die for. Sage had recommended it. We have had it previously, and it was amazing. Good prices for quality food. Tuna melts were amazing. homemade thousand island dressing and a great little side salad with my tuna melt that was awesome and healthy. We will be back. Great view on the patio overlooking the river. 9/22 = awesome food and service. Trudy was our waitress, she was amazing!!! Michelle the manager kept checking on us and helping the waitresses when it was crowded. great view of the river. we sat outside on the patio. I cannot say enough good things about this place. been there twice and cannot wait to go back.

Rode down on a motorcycle ride to check this place out. Was very impressed with the service and food. Great place and will be back real soon.

The patio dining areas are gorgeous.. It's relaxing, and the sight and sounds of the river made it a very pleasant evening, and the food was very, very good. But somebody brought a huge dog onto the grass area and it ran loose through the Diming area, I thought our table was going to be toppled over. But I will definitely be going back.

A laid back, casual and friendly place overlooking the Stanislaus River. Decent food, fair (but not cheap) prices. Our waitress was wonderful. Good selection of local beers and fair drink prices. This was our first visit and we will return many times.

It's been awhile since I last visited. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfy it is. Big restaurant, with outdoor seating, lower deck patio with campfire tables and a nice area to enjoy the flowing river. The food was wonderful and the service friendly and cheerful. Menu prices are comparable. A nice place to go after spending the morning hiking at Knights Ferry.

A hidden gem. Our New York steaks were perfectly cooked with high quality local beef. We sat outside where the lawn goes to the river. Lovely and relaxing. Our entire dinner was perfect. We will be back. New update I had dinner again with my nephew last Thursday and the dinner was so fantastic I have to say everything is perfect at the rivers edge. Service, salads, dinner and desserts. The specials are changed daily and not printed on the menu. I have always ordered the specials. The steaks were perfectly charred and cooked temperature correct. We met Dave the owner and he is a very nice man. Thanks again.

It took a while to get our food and drinks, but they got busy on a Sunday lunch rush. i had a perfectly crispy, thick cut pastrami Ruben sandwich that didn't get soggy due to overly wet sauerkraut. I had an overall good experience and will be making future visits to rest up after a long motorcycle ride.

Wow!! Got the privilege of going on st Patty's day this last weekend and let me tell you !!! Such a beautiful time and great food ! Fiance ordered wildfire burger and he said it was great !!! Perfectly cooked and the brioche buns were SO good ! I took a chance on the salmon burger !!! Wowowowow !! Perfectly made , not too fishy , perfectly seasoned & the fries were so crispy !!! Not to mention the green beers ( we got El machos , one beer each) and they were delicious! Overall the service was amazing as well , it was jam packed and we still managed to get taken real good care of !... NOW THE VIEW ! wow the view is almost so good that you might just want to go there for that alone . It was beautiful and the seating allows you to sit right aside the river . So beautiful! Definitely retiring ! Not too pricy ! Two burgers with fried and two sodas (beers were paid separate) and some 6 pcs wings that were so crispy !! Came out too 60$ ! Real nice spot !

Excellent food. At first when we walked up the power was out, a waitress came out and told us to wait just a minute and we could be seated as the power was just restored. That was the best decision we made as the food was amazing! Excellent view of the river. What a spectacular little gem this is. Right on your way up to Gold country you can take a little pit stop in knights ferry. And trust me when I say this place is a brilliantly unexpected surprise. They have a wide range of foods and a full bar. We had the most exquisitely delectable Burger and a afternoon view of the river that will make you feel like you have found Paradise... I highly recommend this place for anyone that just wants to get away but not have to go too far. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The prices are right inside any travelers budget. And once again the outdoor seating is just fabulous. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great “wait” staff! Love this place but growing a bit tired of two + hours (3 by end of dinner) for dinner! Increase your kitchen or figure something out! Hope y’all do! Cuz we won’t put our little ones through this again!! Empty tables for over 30 minutes. Not enough wait staff. Not big enough kitchen! We strive to support this place all year long. Disappointed. Edited: Great place, vibe, food better when not busy. It’s a love hate relationship with this local favorite! But they try! Post pandemic, all one can ask for. Serve kids quick if kitchen is slow.

I stopped here recently after decades of just driving by. What a find. Sit by the clear clean flowing waters of the Stanislaus River and have lunch. Springtime greenery, quiet, and very nice staff.

We went for lunch today...Friday and Molly was our waitress...she was friendly and very helpful. We had the special BBQ Brisket sandwiches with fries. The food was excellent and the view and sound from the creek an added bonus. They were busy, and the wait time was minimal. We will definitely be back!

Honestly it has been awhile since ive been here. They recently changed their hours back to normal type hours which was great. Before it was hit or miss so I never went. I recently cameback and I was more than impressed with the customer service and the incredible food! The views outside are incredible. Its a beautiful property! They have great adult beverages as well! Im excited on dining here more often now!Thank you for all the effort you have put back into The River's Edge!

Wonderful experience! We’ve been itching to go to Big Sur River Inn but didn’t want to make the drive, and we found this place to be a great alternative. It has a very similar vibe — although you can’t put your feet in the water, there’s a pergola where you can sit and listen to the tranquil sounds of the river while enjoying a drink. The food was great, the staff were friendly, and the bread pudding was delish! We’ll absolutely be visiting this place again!

What a wonderful, scenic way to enjoy the countryside of California's Sierra Nevada foothills. Eat at a classic, riverside diner along the beautiful Stanislaus River. Pub style dining while mixing in some great salads, wraps with local fish and meats. Let's do t forget the old mill town that this restaurant resides in and take in a dip of ice cream at the local store just a few steps down the street. Feel a little of the history of this area with museums, wineries, train roundhouse, an old town preserved from the hey days of gold rush of 1850. This restaurant is your jump off for that. Enjoy!

Enjoying lunch at The River’s Edge this weekend was the perfect way to relax and recharge. The weather was beautiful—warm with a gentle breeze—and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better. It's the most naturally beautiful indoor,outdoor restaurant around. The owners are so welcoming and helpful when planning an event. They make it a breeze. Came here on a spur-of-the-moment adventure. It was a Saturday night inside the location was fairly full. It has a nice rustic Miner Town type feel. We decided to sit outside it was a bit chilly. The waiter was so nice he brought us the heater. The Ambiance and the outside seating was fantastic. The waiter who served us our drinks was very patient kind and friendly.

It was a Great visit! Dallas was our waitress and she went above & beyond to make us feel comfortable. It was a little hot , we were sweating. They may consider upgrading the ac unit or getting ceiling fans through out. Otherwise the food was amazing & the service was exceptional.

We spend a lovely afternoon on the patio celebrating 🍾 my friends 50th birthday 🎂. It was just the four of us but everyone was very accommodating, from the host to our waitress. I had the most delicious cocktail called the River's Edge Spritz , it is light and crisp, perfect for warm weather. I had the sirloin dinner special, and everything was perfect. The steak was cooked perfectly and the asparagus were so good, so fresh. The rest of my party enjoyed their food also. Both the men ordered the fish and chips, and the other lady ordered the the Cobb Salad. We all enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere.

Stopped off to grab a bite w/the wife... Very pleasant & peaceful. Good food; hidden gem of the foothills for sure. Lots of history & a great place to step out into nature & history.

My second trip to Rivers Edge and had high expectations after my first visit. Super long wait times, was served cold soup, service was good once seated, beautiful view of the river and green grassy hill, and happy people.

Unfortunately we were there at an off time, 4:15 pm, which was a bit too early for dinner service or to really judge the atmosphere. Food was pretty good, fries were tasty and warm. We were hoping for a menu that had some vegetarian options. They had none. Our server was very understanding and respectful of my wife not eating meat. They accommodated and offered several suggestions that they could put together and it all worked out fine. Nice draft beer selections.

Love coming here for a Bloody Mary and a relaxing view of the river. Food is always great, and the staff is friendly and fast. If it's crowded, you're gonna wait a bit for your food, but it's worth the wait. Besides, nothing rushed is good anyways.

We are going to give it another try soon. Our group was very large and we heard a lot of great remarks about the food. It might have just been an off day for the brisket sandwiches. I ordered the ahi tuna salad. It was not bad. I wasn't quite a fan of how the tuna was prepared and I think I would have enjoyed the tuna more if it had been marinated. I did love the bread pudding. It tasted great and definitely worth coming in for again

We decided to have lunch here after hiking the Knight's Ferry Recreation Area. We got there as soon as they open at 1130 so we were able to get the table closest to the river. By the time we left, they were full and very busy. We had the burger, the portobello sandwich and a few drinks. The portobello sandwich is pretty good so as the burger. The fries are the bomb! We also had some local beers (all were good), and the cherry mule cocktail. Service was ok. Our waitress was attentive enough.

Due to covid we were separated put from other guests but the deck was so massive they could still seat a good amount of people. Price right for the type and quality of food. We ate out on the patio and despite the heat, enjoyed the sounds of the Stanislaus River. I had the ahi tuna salad special and my husband, the salmon dinner. We shared pretzel pieces for appetizer and took home bread pudding for dessert. Everything was tasty and I especially like the tuna slices with avocado between.

If you're looking for a good place to stop with good food, great selection of beers on tap and some really nice ambiance, this is the place. I showed up with a group of 15 people and they were very accommodating, staff was kind and helpful and everyone had a great time! Also, it's awesome because it's not a rush. They have a cool area on the river to chill out and breath the fresh air. I look forward to my next visit!

May be under new management. I've been here in the past and waitresses were always tentative. Today I was the only customer inside and my waitress was slow at refilling my water after I had informed her I drink a lot of water. She was laughing and talking with staff instead. It was also about 89° and humid inside. Outside sitting would have been better. Too many flies inside too, they need ceiling fans INSIDE to help clear out the flies. Food was good.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch a few weeks ago. We both ordered a cheeseburger and potato salad came with it. The burger was a good quality beef but was lacking in seasonings. The bun was just so so nothing special. The potato salad was uneatable. Someone there needs to learn how to make a good potato salad. It's not difficult and when your serving the public the food should be quality. The biggest negative that we found was the paper products that the food was served on . Very flimsy . I understand that this might be a less expensive way to serve the customers but it's not working. Having said that ...we would try the place again. The place has nice decor , dated and in need of paint. I am interested in there dinner meals to see if they step it up a bit.

Our server was great...the menu needs a bit of improvement. Choices a bit limited and a 25oz piece of meat is to me overkill. No chicken offered and it should be as not everyone likes beef. Not sure if I would go back for dinner. The outdoor dining is nice

This is a difficult review. I think the menu is on point and the grounds are beautiful. Unfortunately my food was served cold. I don't know if it was a timing issue in the kitchen or a service issue. Unfortunately my service was lacking but I am a failed waitress so no hard feelings. With cringe worthy service, it would be easy to lay blame, but my husbands fish n chips were hot and my grilled cheese was cold. There is hope though and I will give it a second chance.

heard lots of great things about this place, so we tried it on Mother's Day with the family. Not a good experience! Extremely slow, way under-staffed.Eexcuses about not enough cooks in the kitchen. Sadly, quite a disappointment. Half our family never got their food and then there was an 18% surcharge for more than 6. Needless to say, we will not be back and would not recommend to anyone. The food was luke warm and mediocre at best. Save your money and go into Oakdale. The charm does not outweigh the poor service and so-so food.

Atmosphere was very nice by the river. Server was nice. Food was a completely different story. Fish and chips was a little mushy and chewy. Definitely not fresh. The fries were good. Coleslaw had a a little bit of refrigerator taste. Lava cake tasted like it’s been heated in the microwave too long. Cheesecake crust was soft. Too bad because the location is a gem.

Our waitress was great . Tried the bloody Mary’s pretty damm good . Ordered food wife and I had the river burger with cheese and all mom wanted was some calamari and a bowl of clam chowder. Hamburgers weren’t bad just really not much flavor certainly no seasoning just ok. However the clam chowder was a different story mom said it was pretty bad no flavor and wasn’t to sure it was even what it was supposed to be . Pretty bad . The calamari wasn’t to bad but NO SEASONING AND NO SALT OR PEPPER ON THE TABLE ? Don’t think we will be going back for prime rib . To bad such a great location

We went to Rivers Edge today. It's the first time I had been here in decades, literally! We wanted to sit outside but they had a problem with meat bees. They gave us our choice to sit in or out; we sat inside. I was disappointed that the hostess didn't ask us if we would like to sit at the bar to see the river. She put us all the way in the back of the restaurant. I noticed that the restaurant floor was really dirty, the tables felt dirty, and they used old paper menus. I know I sound picky but we're in the middle of a pandemic and my mom had restaurants. She wouldn't have allowed any of this. To me, in a restaurant like this, they should use real glass dishes; not paper. I had a Cobb salad in a paper bowl. Really? I had a butter knife to cut my chicken. It was a good salad. As you can see, I was not impressed. The last time I went I ate outside with a beautiful view on real glass plates. It was really a nice experience. I'm not sure if I'll go back. Also, the prices were high, I thought. I paid $14 for a Cobb salad, in a paper bowl. At these prices I think they can afford glass. Rivers Edge needs to do better!!!

Food below average ,service slow and not to welcoming, food was on the cold side and tasted like yesterday's heated in a microwave . Truly expected more for what was payed . Won't be returning .

The atmosphere is cool with a location right on the river, but food is 2 star at best. Ordered some pork belly for an appetizer and it was dry and crispy. Def not how pork belly should be. The wait for food was longer than expected.

The service wasn’t very good. We waited an hour and a half for our food and they didn’t even come back to ask us if we wanted a drink or anything. It was pretty atrocious. I had the salmon salad. The salad dressing was delicious, but the little piece of salmon was so tiny it was just sad really

I hadn't been here for a few years. My daughter has been in cancer treatment for about three years. I wanted to take her here because of the experience I had before. I was horribly disappointed. The menu had changed from fine dining to just basic foods. We ordered iced tea and it was old and soured. We sat on the patio and had to smell propane the whole time. So my food tasted like propane, and I had that smell in my nose for 2 days. It broke my heart because I wanted to celebrate with her that she got her first clear scan. The service was awesome. Those two young ladies were absolutely enjoyable and efficient. I had food left over, and they had no to go box. Our waitress was adorable, and she made a box out of tinfoil. We walked down to the river's edge after we ate. That part was absolutely enjoyable. I won't be going back any time soon.

Beautiful outdoor space! Friendly people. I only wish there were more food options the day we went. We ended up going on a Saturday afternoon and I had really wanted what I saw on the menu online and they only offered a few selections, none of which were vegan or vegetarian friendly. My boyfriend was the only one who could eat. We did enjoy the view however. I hope to see more options in the future.

If you are looking for great food and service, don't come here. This place has SO much potential but it is poorly managed, at least this is the conclusion I came to during my recent experience. They under quoted the wait which is understandable because you don't know how long it will take people to finish up. We went to the bar to have drinks while we waited and it took 15 mins just to get a beer, I didn't order the cocktail I wanted because I didn't want to wait for it. The bar area wasn't busy and there weren't a lot of drinks printing up for her to make, so there was no excuse to why it took so long to get a drink. Then we get to the table outside which was a beautiful location in the far corner with a view of the rushing waters but being surrounded by spider webs made me a bit uncomfortable. Do you not have employees staffed to keep the place looking clean and nice? The server took another 15 minutes plus to greet us. If we didn't drive 20 minutes to get there, we would have got up and left. While waiting I made some observations about the staff and how unprofessional you allow them to be. One is wearing sandals that are open toed with no back to the shoe, you can't have employees at a restaurant wear shoes like that, that's a accident waiting to happen. And I don't want to see young girls' butt cheeks hanging out of inappropriate shorts while they bus tables in front of families and young children and teenage boys . The calamari we ordered was chewy and some pieces even under cooked and flavorless besides the taste of cracked pepper. The philly melt I had also had chewy beef and the sandwich didn't have as much flavor as I was anticipating due to the description on the menu. Fries were tasty but that won't bring return customers. Do better River's Edge. It was very disappointing.

The atmosphere is really lovely. However my boyfriends chicken parmesan was raw. Not just a little but the entire middle was raw. Our waitress was really great and felt terrible. We had to wait for his new dish to come out and we waited so long we ended up just getting it to go. We expected a discount on our meal, but got a brownie instead. It’s too bad, it’s really a gorgeous spot.

I’ve been here a few times and it has always been pleasant. Unfortunately this past weekend (Sunday) I ordered the Wildfire burger, ate half and ended up having food poisoning.

The restaurant setting is really nice. But the food and service were so so.

On January 2nd my son and I ate lunch at the restaurant. The bun was cold on the hamburgers. We actually had to put salt on The burgers to give it flavo. I cannot believe how the bill rang up to $80. Only one glass of wine is included in that dinner house wine at that. Had to wait 45 minutes for this disappointing lunch. This is the second time in a short time I've been to river's edge and the quality of food is not as good as it used to be

If you want to pay nice restraunt prices, and get snack shack quality food, this is the place to be... if you'd like to sit outside next to a stagnant green river, with bees landing in your food, this is the place for you! The food was awful, soaked in grease and had no flavor. The service was terrible, waited almost 20 minutes to get our drinks, and refills were out of the question, no one came to check on us. When our food arrived, (mine incorrectly )the waitress was serving me food in flip flops and tank top! WTH !!!We also ordered drinks that never arrived...A terrible experience. Not to mention they have a patio to sit on with literally hundreds of bees, and flies...and not one single trap or bait of some kind, just our good was their bait!.. no thanks. Will not be returning.
