Staff is well prepared to handle a busy crowd with professionalism and kindness. They knew the menu well and were very expediant. Great atmosphere. Good cuts of meat. Love this place
Definitely one of our favorite restaurants! Matt the bartender, great guy, excellent service. Restaurant has really nice vibe, family friendly and great food.
Customer service was outstanding! The food was also great. Our server Lupe was very helpful as it was our first time there. We will definitely be back.
We had a blast here! I wanted to take my mom out as a little treat, and hadn't been here in quite a while. There was a dining room they took us to, (Had a 7 yr old with us as well) and I didn't much care for the chairs and layout. Not the comfiest, but people come for the food and drinks, not the seating. It was just after they switched from lunch to dinner, so I think things were a bit disorganized, which happens. They also have tvs all over for sports. Our server didn't tell us there were holiday drinks, but I overheard another table, and got to try their maple manhattan. It was strong and delicious. The service was great for the rest of the meal. Very attentive and patient listing out the food specials and options. They also accommodated one person getting veggies instead of the pasta or potato. I was worried that they didn't have a kid's menu, but she said that she could get just a bowl of pasta. My kid devoured it! I had the special of ribeye and prawns. It was enough for 3 people, and I had delicious leftovers for breakfast and lunch the next day. The prawns were well cooked, and my steak was perfectly rare. Everything was seasoned, and delicious. Their bread and pasta are fresh made nearby and they also have their own amazing bbq sauce. The menu looks simple, but everything on it is yummy. This is some real deal comfort food. Nothing fancy or pretentious. They've been here a long time, and it's easy to see why they're still here. When we left, the bar and booths were packed. I would definitely recommend eating here if you get the chance.
Servers were attentive. Food was great - it is a steak house but I opted for seafood fettuccine. The atmosphere is old country steak house with a very active bar.
My husband and I ate dinner there on 11/05. It was absolutely delicious. The service was great. My super picky eater husband could not say enough good things about his dinner. He ordered the chili soup and the combo rib and chicken dinner. He was so happy. It was so good it almost made him cry tears of joy. 😄 I had the New York steak with a baked potato. Delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly. It was a very generous cut so I could only eat half. We highly recommend Waterloo to all.
The RIBS entree is the best! Comes with a rack of fall off the bone pork ribs, choice of pasta, (I chose pesto) & soup or salad (I chose minestrone soup) All the entrees are big portions, eat some now, take the rest home for later! Full bar, great atmosphere, ballgame on the TV!
Great restaurant, food, service, and atmosphere. We were seated promptly and water arrived quickly. The staff was friendly and attentive. The side salad had house made croutons. Restaurants have dropped croutons to my disappointment, so it was great to have them again. The dressing was house made, delicious. My wife had the NY strip and she thought it was the best steak she'd had in years. She is a keto dieter and has become a beef flavor/quality expert. The ribs were great. The sweet BBQ sauce was good with the pork. The pasta we ordered for sides was homemade from scratch pasta that was locally sourced. We asked, everything, the fresh bread, the pasta, the meats, all of the food we were served, was either made from scratch at the Waterloo or locally sourced from nearby farms and bakeries. You could tell. It was really fresh and well made. They have a full bar with a friendly crowd. The old fashioned I ordered was complete with a Luxardo cherry. Waterloo isn't the biggest town in the world but if you're here, definitely visit The Waterloo Restaurant. We came in a half hour before close on a Thursday night and it was a full house. There's an entertaining story about the battle of Waterloo, not with Napoleon, but locally with a stolen canon on the back of the menu. There is a wall that honors local military heros, and they sell some pretty neat merch, including dog toys, although it is a service dog only restaurant.
It is a five star restaurant. But there prices went up almost $10 a plate. Same amount of food. Nothing different. $ 85 for 2 people. Once a year stop for me.. Bring alot of money!! Update 3/7/24. I had fun last night celebrating my daughter's birthday. The food has stepped up.. I was impressed!! Taking more time on the plates. Thank you for the wonderful waitress she was awesome.
First time here and I love it! The atmosphere, food… the combination complimented each other. But let’s get to the food.. amazing!!! Portion sizes and taste does not disappoint!! I can’t tell you what’s a favorite as they were all so delicious! Their BBQ sauce it in point! If you have not been, it should definitely be on your priority list! I can’t wait to go back!

Boy, did we have fun at the Waterloo Restaurant and did we eat eat and eat! We were in town for a show at the Bob Hope theater and wanted to dine before the show. My wife found Waterloo and suggested it as they did BBQ. Count me in! The food was great and the portions very generous. Even better the service from the young lady who let me sample both of the soups so I could decide which I favored. We definitely came home with leftovers. Give Waterloo a shot when you’re in town!
My wife and me, finally had a chance to have lunch at the The Waterloo Restaurant. What a great Atomsphere. The people working were super friendly and always attending us kindly . the food was very good. Great job Waterloo restaurant.
Update: Sunday, July 13, 2025 dinner The chicken sounded good tonight especially after reading the description in the menu: WE SLOW-ROAST A FULL 1/2 CHICKEN IN OUR SPECIAL MESQUITE OVENS UNTIL IT IS TENDER & JUICY, THEN CHAR-BROIL IT TO ORDER WITH BETTÉ'S FAMOUS BBQ SAUCE. It's DELICIOUS! I ordered it as it comes…dark meat… a leg and thigh and white meat, a breast and wing! The dark meat was passible. You really can’t screw that up. The white meat was miserable…dry and chewy…nowhere near tender and juicy as stated in the menu‼️ To top it off my plate was microwaved before it was served. The meat was warm but the bones were boiling hot inside! They have a pretty limited menu. I’m not sure what I would order next time. If I did order chicken again it would probably be all dark meat. I’ve had the chicken breast before it was the same way…dry! My son had the salmon. The salmon here is always good! You can’t go wrong. Guadalupe… Thank you for the excellent service‼️ Come on Waterloo, you can do better! ———————— Update: Friday, July 11, 2025 lunch First time that we’ve had lunch at Waterloo in a long time. I always see their special lunch offerings on Instagram and they look so good. Well, they didn’t let us down today. We had an incredible lunch with an incredible server…ROSIE‼️ The garlic bread was awesome. Today being Friday they had clam chowder. It was very good and it was served up piping hot which I love. For my entrée I chose the calamari with potato salad. Calamari was very good. Paired well with the tartar sauce! The potato salad was OK. Nothing extra. Just standard potato salad, homemade. My son had the chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon and he said it was the best thing she had in a long time. And of course it was served on a Genova soft roll. And, for a dessert we had peanut butter pie. Oh my goodness, it was delicious. If they have it when you go there, try it! Again, thank you so much ROSIE for making this lunch very special for us‼️ —————— Update: Saturday, May 31, 2025 PM Guadalupe did an excellent job as our server tonight. She checked on us several times, took away empty dishes, kept our drinks topped off, package our to go boxes for us! All around great server. But I have to add that we missed our normal server, Rosie! She normally works on Saturdays but had the day off for some reason. We’ll be back soon. Hopefully we will either have Guadalupe again or maybe even Rosie! Everybody was happy with their dinners tonight. We had two orders of the charbroiled salmon with pesto and one order of the ribeye with pesto. And we ended with desserts…two cheesecakes and one coconut cream pie. Full tummies and went home with leftovers! If you’ve never been… Get here! ——————- UPDATE: Wednesday, May 14, 2025 PM Five stars all the way around! When you eat at a place like Waterloo, half of the experience is good food, the other half is outstanding SERVICE. Rosie, again, hit it out of the ballpark tonight. She is absolutely our favorite server and we try to sit in her section if she’s working. Thanks for the outstanding service, Rosie! My son had the salmon and pesto for the second time and he absolutely loves it. Claims it’s his favorite now. I had the H2O special which was good tonight. The ribs were moist, hot and tender. The piece of dark meat chicken was very tasty. I enjoyed the soup almost as much as my meal. Evidently, around once a month, they serve chicken with rice soup. This was outstanding. I might plan my next visit around whenever they offer that soup again! It was awesome. Good bread and butter Great fresh brewed iced tea! Yes, their prices have increased. As long as they maintain the quality of the food, I don’t mind paying a couple of dollars more. Kudos Rosie‼️
This was my first time at the Waterloo restaurant. All the food was freshly made they used fresh ingredients they have a garden in the back where they get their fresh herbs from. It was a nice atmosphere the environment was quiet enough to talk. But loud enough to wear no one would listen to your conversation. The chowder was so delicious that Geneva bread and that Betty sauce is amazing pairs well together! If you like fresh ingredients this is a place to try.
The Waterloo Restaurant – Good Food with Local Charm and a Few Surprises I recently visited The Waterloo Restaurant in Waterloo, California, to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Our group reserved a table for 12, looking forward to enjoying the evening together. However, when we arrived, the restaurant was quite busy, and we were seated at two separate round tables. We asked if the tables could be moved together so we could all sit as a group, but the staff wouldn’t allow it. Initially, it was disappointing, but given how busy the place was—and considering we did make the reservation somewhat last minute—it’s understandable that they may not have had the flexibility to rearrange things. Despite the seating arrangement, the atmosphere was lively and inviting. One charming detail that stood out was the menu design. The front page of their menu features kids’ drawings, which I was told are from local school children. It was a nice touch that gave the place a warm, community feel. Even with the crowd, the staff remained friendly and attentive, ensuring our drinks were filled and checking in regularly. One thing to note is their policy on shared meals. Two of the ladies in our group decided to share a meal, but they were surprised to see an extra charge for splitting the dish on the check. They weren’t informed about this fee beforehand, and the only notice was printed at the bottom of the menu, which was easy to overlook. It’s unclear what the fee is meant to cover—perhaps the cost of an extra plate? Either way, it was an unexpected cost that could have been communicated more clearly. For my meal, I ordered the Roasted Chicken with a baked potato and a salad. The chicken was flavorful and well-cooked, and the sides complemented the meal nicely. Overall, I was satisfied with the food, and the portion size was generous. However, it’s worth mentioning that The Waterloo Restaurant is on the pricier side. The cost felt a bit steep for what you get, but the food quality was good, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Overall, The Waterloo Restaurant delivers good food, attentive service, and a cozy ambiance with a touch of local charm. The seating arrangement wasn’t ideal, but given how busy they were and the timing of our reservation, it’s understandable. The surprise meal-splitting fee was a minor inconvenience, but the quality dishes and community-oriented atmosphere made up for it. If you’re aware of the extra charges and are okay with slightly higher prices, it’s a great place to enjoy an evening out.

A friend and I waited for two hours to get a table at the Waterloo restaurant. As soon as we entered, we had a good first impression: the salad and breads were perfect. However, the main dish, a ribeye, came excessively overdone, with darkened meat and a bitter taste. I ended up eating only half, removing the most burned parts, because I was very hungry. On the other hand, the pasta with pesto was impeccable, and the shrimps, simply delicious.

Happy New Years. Took my family to dinner which was 10 of us. Bill was over $300 only in my food after about two bites I find a black hair in my food.wasn’t mine. My hair is grey. Told my waitress and all she did was take it and I had to ask what was going to be done and she said it’s gonna be comped. Ok but what am I going to eat? She said her boss said we have enough food he could order /pay another plate.. Me and my family usually go there for dinner on some of our special occasions.. I felt another plate should have been included with the comp.. And I didn’t expect a response like that..and after that hair I wasn’t going to buy another plate.. but keep the gratuity you charged me and didn’t allow me to take any of that back.. not a good way to start off Waterloo Restaurant
I honestly can’t give this business the same high rating. We stopped there because of the high ratings, but after ordering a BLT that doesn’t come with fries but instead comes with a pesto pasta, and then it took a very long time to get the food, the BLT arrived and the bacon was totally charcoal, then I couldn’t get anyone to help me, so I called a young lady over to show her my BLT, and she apologized about it and said with great humor that it looked like coal and promptly removed the sandwich, it took another 15 minutes to get a new sandwich, which was much better! The place is very crowded and noisy and service is slow to say the least, I don’t think we’ll go back there again!
First time I went it was amazing. Went yesterday and I don't know what happend. The ribs were so tuff and had a funky taste. The spaghetti looked like it was drenched in water. I wasn't expecting spaghetti soup. The bread they give you was re heated and the edges were hard. The waiter also had an attitude. I won't be going back.
