Wonderful restaurant, staff and owner! Drinks were great and dinner was delicious!! Perfect spot for a date night or for a small outing. Will be returning very soon.

This is a very cozy and romantic restaurant. The food is really good and the owner, very friendly, gentle and attentive to the customers, used to be the president of the Italian Major League Lazio soccer team in the 80's and 90's. I recommend this place.

A wonderful place with great food. Thought it a little quirky they don't take walk ins at all but I have to say, I felt very special and will definitely be back!

Il Portico is a boutique restaurant experience, quiet and cozy yet formal with a hands on staff experienced in fine dining. The food is consistently 5 stars.

Just found a new favorite spot. This was my first visit to this restaurant and Peppe, the owner, made my wife and I feel as if we were loyal customers for years. Service was excellent and the food was even better. Reservation required.

We were treated with exceptional service from the moment we walked through the door. Very cozy and warm environment and the food was exceptional. Be sure to make reservations otherwise you will not be seated. You will not be disappointed!

We need to get here more often - fantastic Caprese salad special w prosciutto, a classy chicken parmigiano w roasted brussels and potatoes. Good wine selection. Service was attentive. Friendly owner - thank you!

I've been dining here quite a long time with my special friends especially. It's like a private club atmosphere. Clean and quiet. Foods are made like homemade. The boss is kind and friendly. I recommend it for special occasions or meetings particularly.

Our dinner was great! The service was outstanding. The young lady that serviced was very professional and diligent. The owner always came to our table to make sure we were doing fine with our dinner. The place is very clean and cozy. The ambiance is very comfortable and relaxing. I surely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Make sure you call for reservations.

Went here with my girlfriend, very cozy atmosphere , right near the fireplace. Tables were spread out where you didn't feel like you were on top of other guests. Service was very attentive. the owner himself came to our table and greeted us. The food was very unique , in a good way. I had the short ribs with risotto. The short ribs literally melted in my mouth, and the aju was very rich and flavorful. The risotto was very creamy and light. My partner had the scallops. They were cooked to perfection. The only aspect of this establishment that could use a brush up is their dessert department. Very lacking, in my opinion. Certainly not something that would stop me from visiting again.

Yesterday I celebrated my 80th birthday at Il Portico. This is by far the best restaurant in Rockland County. Peppe worked with us for several months to create a wonderful and varied menu and a seating plan. He’s great to work with and caring about your needs. The final product was an outstanding menu We had had over 20 people and Peppe created a terrific set up where people could enjoy the party and have good conversation. As always the food and service were outstanding. Everyone commented on how excellent the food was and the fact that there such a varied menu. Best of all the cost was unbelievably fair for what he gave us. If you have a special occasion or just for a wonderful dinner experience, Il Portico is where you should go.

The owner and the waitress were absolutely amazing and hospitable. They made the evening for my date and I, unforgettable. The ambience was very romantic, and the food was absolutely delicious. The entire establishment felt very elegant, clean and beautiful. Hands down, this was the best place I've reserved, in years! Can't wait to come back again!

As always, the food at Il Portico has been excellent. The staff went above and beyond with our order. We ordered two pasta appetizers, a salad, and chicken parm. It was a perfect balance of food and we were able to pick it up and take it home and enjoy. Everything was packaged with great care and my friend told me that he wanted to go back in the near future to eat at the restaurant. I have not had anything at the restaurant that I did not enjoy.

The culinary experience at Il Portico was spectacular from start to finish. We shared a clam appetizer and ordered shrimp risotto, chicken scarpariello and pork loin. All dishes were absolutely delicious. We finished with tartufo for dessert. Pepe and Paige provided excellent service and the atmosphere was so inviting.

Another excellent experience at IL Portico. Really enjoy the quiet and personal setting intentionally created by the owner. Brought other family members who loved it and are excited to go back again. Our waitress (Paige) was extremely attentive and accommodating. Had the special of Manilla clams recommended by the owner (Peppe). Loved it! Wonderful ambiance, excellent service and food. I recently ate at IL Portico with my wife, and was so impressed, I wanted to introduce my adult children, who were visiting from out of town, to this restaurant. Very personalized experience that makes one feel the owner and staff are doing all they can to make it an unforgettable experience. Homemade spaghetti Cacio e Pepe is fabulous.

My wife and I were there for a political function combo meeting and Christmas luncheon. This establishment is super clean, bright, and cozy. The food and wine were delicious. I had chicken parm. Was fantastic. Was batted down thin and breaded and seasoned to perfection. VERY tender, I only had to use my folk to cut. The marinara was fresh semi chunky lite delicious and perfect. The fresh bread came in handy to clean up my plate. My wife has a fresh pasta marinara dish and NO complaints there. The waiter and waitress were professional, non obtrusive, thoughtful and caring about their service to us. Thank you iL Portico for having us and making us feel welcomed! Merry Christmas! Peppe and his staff were wonderful!!! We were celebrating my mom’s 100th birthday and they made it a very special event. Every single dish was prepared deliciously and we enjoyed every minute of the special evening!!! Would highly recommend this restaurant…great for intimate or family gatherings!!!

Ordered dinner from here today. The owner is so nice. The food is delicious. I had Caesar salad, pasta, meatballs, and short ribs. Everything was perfect.

My husband and I had an excellent experience at Il Portico. Our meals were delicious, we were never rushed, and our server was lovely. This was our first time here and looking forward to returning.

We had dinner there on Saturday night. I called ahead and made a reservation for 5 people, arrived 10 mins early to be told by the owner that he had just given our table away. He seemed flustered. After some rearranging of tables, we were seated. We had not been there in years, and were looking forward to it. The menu was extremely limited - 2 salads, 3 appetizers and a handful of pasta and entree dishes. VERY different than prior years...and the entrees were nothing special. Chicken parmesan, lasagna, pasta bolognese...pretty much dishes one can get at any basic Italian restaurant. My lasagna was cold in the middle, and after taking it back to the kitchen, it came out a hot mess...slopped with extra sauce and clearly microwaved. 5 entrees, 3 sodas, one glass of wine & one whiskey. $175. Not going back. 3 stars because while nothing exciting, the food was good.

We came to Il Portico for a party this past weekend. Food was delicious, staff was courteous and professional. Then there is the owner, which is the reason I am only giving 2 stars. The entire restaurant was reserved for the party, so there were no outside guests. Apparently, when the number of guests that would be attending the party was called in, seating for four was set at each table to accommodate every person. As not every family had 4 to sit, there were empty seats at some tables, therefore not enough seating to accommodate every family, so some were moving tables and place settings. This is when the owner went nuts, yelling at guests that he had the settings the way they were to be, and would it be expected that he goes to someones house and rearrange the seating to please him. Personally, I would not recommend this restaurant because of the owners childish behavior and explosive demeanor towards the guests.

Peppe, the owner. Is rude and obnoxious. Two weeks ago I walked in as a single diner who only sits at the bar while dining and he read me the riot act for not making a reservation. The restaurant was empty and nobody was seated at the bar. Today was very much the same, there was only one table dining and Peppe was again very rude as he wouldn't let me in to dine solo at the bar. If you can tolerate a rude and obnoxious owner, enjoy your visit. Otherwise, stay away!

Went there for my husbands birthday dinner, the owner has an attitude, completely ruined our night !! the place gives off an uncomfortable vibe, the dishes were mediocre, going out suppose to be enjoyable , obviously would never return or recommend this place to anyone. Not sure how this place got 2 stars or above !! ??

I was having dinner with my husband last week, when the owner went crazy and berserk on a couple that were waiting to be served. Very unprofessional as the owner was yelling and cursing. Don't know what happened with the couple, but it appeared they were waiting for 20-30 minutes without menus. Never go there again. Oh, and poor service

The owner is a disturbed individual who is prone fits of rudeness. The moment I met him I got a bad vibe. He yelled at me in the parking lot. He said the place was closed but was talking to someone just two minutes prior to my being there. But why yell at someone, especially a potential customer? He didn't hear anything I was saying. Disrespectful. He doesn't deserve my business.

ZERO STARS!! Waited 20 minutes for the bartender to come over & take our drink order. After 40 minutes with no menus (or even bread on the table) my husband asked the owner nicely for menus & the owner told him “stop being anxious”. That’s when we decided to pay for our drinks & go elsewhere. The bartender told the owner that we were leaving and he said “tell them to sit down & relax they’re acting like children”. A good owner would’ve come over to the table to apologize & make things right. Absolutely a horrible experience!

Horrible! The owner was rude and made us feel uncomfortable the moment we walked it. We arrived 10 minutes early of our reservation and was scolded for coming in early and we were not allowed to sit at the bar to wait for the rest of our friends joining for dinner. The place was empty! After 40 minutes, no menu was provided for us and after, politely asking for menus, was told, “stop being so anxious “. Needless to say, we left the restaurant and enjoyed dinner at Giulios Restaurant that night.

DO NOT waste your time or money here. The owner was extremely rude. I made reservations in advance for a Saturday evening seating. My reservations were changed from 7 to 7:15 without me initiating it. When we arrived "early", we were scolded and were told that we were NOT ALLOWED to sit at the bar. The place was EMPTY. Once we were finally seated, we waited over 20 minutes for the bartender to come to our table to take drink orders. After waiting over 40 minutes, we still hadn't been introduced to our waiter/waitress nor were given menus. After patiently waiting, someone asked for the menus and again was rudely spoked to by the owner and was told to "stop being anxious". We decided to pay for our drinks (which by the way weren't even made correctly) .... and leave. As we were leaving, the owner disappeared but not before he uttered under his breathe F-bombs & childish remarks. In all my experiences, I have never had service like this. I should have read the poor reviews of this place prior to making a reservation. Lesson learned on my end as I like to give a place a chance... but not in this case. I have never had such an AWFUL experience. The vibe was unnerving & unwelcoming. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE TAKEN OVER BY NEW WELCOMING MANGEMENT. An owner should have proper customer service ESPECIALLY in this industry.
