This was the first time trying this Hat location out and decided to dine in for lunch. The employees were professional and friendly. We ordered the Pastrami Chili Cheese Fries. Our order came up fast, hot and fresh. It was amazingly delicious as it was a lot of fries. This dish is enough for at least a minimum of three people. There was no shortage of pastrami, chili or cheese. Every bite was delicious. The restaurant was extremely clean, floors were clean, booths and tables were clean. The windows were also clean. The management at this location definitely takes pride in their local business. We will definitely be back again for another visit. I was very impressed with this Hat location. Keep up the good work!
Best pastrami sandwiches around. Big juicy nice amount of pickles and mustard. Chili cheese fries are fire add pastrami. Don't forget the orange bang.
Every time I come here, my hands always get dirty from picking up all the pastrami that keep falling onto the wrapping paper. Drib, drib, drib! If you're not from the US, these American portions will scare you. If you can't handle that, just order, pay, then hand the food over to me as you marvel in how they can give you that much food at such a price. 🤤 Took my Dad here once. He's normally a big eater, and even he was surprised at the size of the double cheese burger. He was expecting it to be tiny like In-n-Out, so he got full halfway through. He saw my Pastrami Burger, and he got scared. Hahaha! But there will be days you don't want the giant portions, so I came here for a quick bite, and asked, "between the Grilled Cheese and the Steak Sandwich, what do you recommend?" Guy kept trying to steer me towards the Pastrami Burger, and normally I'd say yes, but I wasn't feeling it today. I settled for the Steak sandwich. From the time I placed my order to eating, it only took 8 minutes.
Bathroom was clean and smelled good despite the frequent traffic. I have never had anything but pastramis and fries from the hat but the turkey burger was recommended by my aunt. I am not a fan of turkey or turkey burgers but I tried it anyway. It was delicious and juicy. Probably the best burger I’ve had all year.
We were in the area and had to stop in for a couple of Pastramis and some chill cheese fries.
Classic pastrami dip spot that never disappoints. The sandwiches are huge and dripping with flavor. Fries come in massive portions, so one order feeds two people. It’s always busy but moves fast. Nothing fancy, just great old-school food.
Got the pastrami sandwich from The Hat and it did not disappoint! The meat was super tender, perfectly seasoned, and piled high. The bread held up great without getting soggy
I’ve heard and read about this famous Pastrami place and I happen to drive by one and decided to stop and try their Pastrami sandwich. The dining area was kept clean and roomy, nice vibe, the service was friendly and professional., I am surprised they don’t have a combo deal, you have to order the fries separately, so I ordered their Pastrami sandwich, an order of their fries and a large soda, my order was ready in about 5 minutes. The pastrami and fresh and good and tasty. The fries was a huge portion, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was worth coming in to try them out, I wish they had a branch store near my place, This place earned it’s reputation as a good pastrami place
They were open on Labor Day. Stopped in for a cheeseburger and a small order of fries which was enough to share with a buddy. And I made a cherry coke at the all you can drink soda machine.
As always, we ordered the chili cheese fries, and they never disappoint—absolutely delicious every time! Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon and was happy to find no line or wait. Great experience as usual!
Give it up for the classic. You will not be dissatisfied with the quality of your pastrami. Location is super clean and fast service. Was here for lunch on a weekday. Sandwich was not salty you could taste the spices. Fresh French fries with horseradish sauce (aioli) well call me a cab - I am done
The Hat have been around over seventy years making their world famous pastrami that everybody enjoy. My wife and I have been to the two Hats location in Monterey Park and the orginal in Alhambra both of them make awesome pastrami. I prefer my pastrami wet from pastrami and the bread and adding enough mustard to balance the juicy of the pastrami heavenly delicious. We came here the Hat in Temple city we notice the location is bigger than the Monterey Park location. The restaurant had pictures and history of Temple city and dining room is big and they have restroom inside the restaurant. The biggest surprise a self service fountain soda machine. The staff are very friendly and restaurant always clean when you step in the restaurant.
Was delicious. The portions are giant. We got a bag full of fries when ordering a medium and the burger needed to be cut in half to consume. Definitely worth a try. Inside was clean and old school looking. Overall happy with the Hat.
I was close by to this restaurant while at a work training and it was a solid choice. I ordered their pastrami dip and it was amazingly delicious. It’s tempting to get another sandwich but one was good. I got to eye hungry and also ordered the pastrami chili cheese fries. Be aware that the chili cheese pastrami fries is humongous and can probably feed three people comfortably. Get the gravy on the side because that was also really good to dip your chili cheese fries into some brown gravy. I’d definitely come back again and try their other menu items.
Ordered the Pastrami Dip. Decent portion for one person. Plenty of pastrami in the sandwich. Not too salty, not dry. Would have wanted a few more pickles in there but it was good as it is. Mustard was not fairly light so it didn't drown out anything else. Would want to try one of the fry sides sometime as they looked pretty interesting. Location is pretty convenient, plenty of space to park and sit inside or outside. The transparency of the kitchen is nice to see what's going on and service is very quick.

Food is great but avoid the drive thru at any cost. Came here on a Friday night with 3 other cars in front of me and it took me around 49 minutes from getting in line to paying for my two items. These folks must be cooking with the heat radiating off the palms of their hands. Through my experiences, ordering inside is much faster no matter how packed. The drive thru just seems to be neglected half the time. DINE IN!
We had a great first-time experience eating pastrami chili cheese fries at The Hat. I was full after 8 bites, and the three of us could only finish two-thirds of it. Taste wise, the fries and chili could use a little more salt, in my opinion. But overall, it's just a big messy combination of carb and calorie unfriendly goodness. Pastrami sandwich was great, loads of Pastrami Location in Temple City was almost deserted when we arrived at 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon. Got busier afterward.
I got a chili cheese dog and small onions ring. The Hat is known for their large portions so there was a lot of onion rings which is good for value, but too much food for me. It was a mess to eat the chili cheese dog. They drenched it in chili. The bun fell a part and my fingers were covered in chili, but it tasted good.

I went in there to purchase some pastrami chili fries and was a bit disappointed due to the fact that for one, they warm up their pastrami and then sit it in a warmer from a microwave. And then they would not allow you to grill the pastrami is concerning? Because not everyone like stair food, not well done or cooked to the way they would like their food to be cooked.Besides that the chili was amazing

The beef dip was the epitome of the old commercial "where's the beef" It was a skimpy sandwich. The fries were under cooked and tasteless. After we ate a third of them, the fries began to shine with grease and they were limp. I returned them and showed them to the manager. I then ordered a small onion ring. The manager did not apologize or offer to credit me any refund on the fries. He must have thought I wanted something for nothing. I paid for the onion rings. No problem.
