We came to Basta tonight for pasta and ordered the calzone — absolutely delicious. Perfectly baked, golden crust, stuffed with fresh ingredients, and full of flavor. Then we had to try dessert… and it did not disappoint. The cappuccinos were spot on — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced — and the tiramisu was outstanding. Light, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness to finish the meal. Warm, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and consistently great food from start to finish. If you’re in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Italian comfort food, this place is a must. Five stars all the way — we’ll definitely be back. 🇮🇹✨

This was a recommendation from a friend, really good pasta, really good specials. The steaks looked great as they were being wheeled by. We got the special gnocchi and another plate of pasta which was very fresh. The butter cake was very good with the fresh vanilla ice cream. Our server was fantastic.

Great food, great service, liked the vibe. We got especial appetizers three slides was really light and testy and had a pasta with vodka sauce, different and delicious. Tiramisu was good too. The price was really fair too. The only thing, no reservations and you need to wait for almost half an hour.

BASTA is easily the best Italian restaurant you’ll find in the Thousand Oaks area. From handcrafted pastas and wood-fired pizzas to classic Italian entrees made with fresh ingredients, every dish delivers rich, authentic flavor you won’t soon forget. Reviews consistently praise the quality of the food and the lively, welcoming atmosphere, and I personally concur with all of them. If you get Robert as your server, consider yourself lucky—he’s attentive, warm, and genuinely enhances the experience—but every member of the staff I’ve encountered has been excellent. The combination of outstanding service and delicious food makes Basta a standout choice for both date nights and casual dinners. Yum!

Fantastic spot in Thousand Oaks. Italian is a popular cuisine so when a new place opens up there is always an anticipation. The burrata arugula salad was fresh and tasty. The tagliatelle bolognese was a healthy portion - do ask for parmesan. Light in taste and perfectly al dente. Free bread service and prompt wait time. Dessert ended with a carrot cake and ice cream. Highly recommend! Parking lot in the back is hidden otherwise there is free street parking.

Great vibe on the cozy patio here. Their pizza dough and house made pastas are incredible. They offer classes from time to time and much of their secret is using top tier fresh ingredients- many imported from Italy. Snapped was fantastic. The truffle cream cavatelli with sausage should not be missed. Also loved the arugula burrata salad w/lemon vinaigrette. Fresh berry Whiskey Sour was well balanced and surprisingly not sweet. Can’t wait to return!

We came here twice in a week. Both times, food and service were amazing. We had Josh as our server twice this week. We had to come Back as last time we saw the delicious aged beef’s and it looked delicious! And it tasted amazing with the smoke mesquite flavor. We had ordered the ribeye and price was according to how heavy the beef was. We also ordered the zoodles pasta ( that was so so) and the Basta rustic gem (delicious!). Last time we had dinner with friends and did family style where we got to try the various dishes. We had the appetizer which had the calamari and fish (delicious), cavatelli pasta (tasty), sausage pizza, and the whole Chicken (flavorful). For dessert, we tried the caramel pudding (a bit sweet) and the the bread pudding (à la mode. Delicious) Ambiance is more on the dimmed light romantic mood. They have an open kitchen where you can see them cooking though the windows. They have both outdoor seating (with heat lamps) and indoor and bar seating.

The interior design of the restaurant was so nice to look up at when you weren't diving into the authentic yet approachable food. The service was excellent as they accommodated my party of 7 including setting up a table for the younger kids next to ours and serving them as they were paying customers. The wait staff was polite, knowledgeable and efficient. We're excited to come back and try more menu items.

For a guaranteed great experience, try their Margherita “Classica” Pizza or any other pizza on the menu. They’re made to perfection, and the authentic sauce is the key to its delicious flavor. The hummus is also very tasty, as is the spaghetti with meat sauce!

Reason for visiting: brother's birthday dinner Date/time of visit: Saturday night, ~6:00 PM Parking: Street parking, free. they offer valet too but there's plenty of parking. Not sure how much valet was. There's parking across the street for Tarantula Brewery; pretty sure you can park there and no one would know. Party size: 5 Environment/ambience: busy; there's no reservations so you have to come in person. This Basta just recently opened (there's another one in Agoura Hills) so assume it's a little easier to get in here. 5 min wait but we came early.. around 5:45 - 6:00 PM. The Agoura location is usually an hour+ wait. It was ok at the start but got really stuffy and hot at the end. Restrooms are clean. Pretty busy overall. Small bar area with the NBA playoffs on. Indoor and outdoor seating. Service: was great. He provided the specials, etc and recommended what we should order. Came around pretty often and refilled water (water was sooo good for some reason 😀). No complementary dessert for 50th birthday! 👎 Food: had the complimentary bread + vinegar and balsamic, Tagliatelle al Ragu, Fiorentine, Burrata + Beets, El Volti wine, Gnocchi, Salsiccia e Funghi Pizza, and the desserts, Lava Cake and Butter cake. Everything was good. Cost: $450 with tip Would I go back (yes/no): 70/30

Cozy, romantic, and slightly over-supervised. The patio has such a charming, European vibe that for a moment I expected someone to start playing the accordion. We ordered a simple dinner of pizza and wine — both fine, nothing to write home about. The real standout was our waiter, who seemed to have taken a personal vow never to let us finish a sentence in peace. Even after we politely asked for some privacy, he kept re-appearing like a well-meaning but overenthusiastic guardian angel of service. I'd go back to try other dishes for a hopefully less superwised evening.

Decided to try out the Thousand Oaks location with some friends on a Saturday evening and overall it was a pleasant experience, however, it seemed to be slightly lacking compared to previous experiences at the Agoura location. We arrived at 6pm to put our names in and there was already about an hour wait which was somewhat expected as they don't take reservations. Tarantula Brewing Co. is conveniently located across the street if you wanted to wait things out over a cold brew (recommend). There is valet parking, however, there is plenty of street parking and depending on how busy it is you may just have to walk a little bit. The service has always been great whenever I dine at Basta and this occasion was no different. Very attentive server and once seated we had drinks order and bread on the table. We shared a handful of things on this occasion...Basta Meatballs, Spaghettini Vongole, Tagliatelle Al Ragu & the Caprese Pizza. All were very good though the Vongole was not as good as past times and the Caprese pizza wasn't quite what we expected (cold toppings on hot pizza). The Meatball and Ragu was delicious! We finished things off with the Tirmisu (good but not my fave and have had much better) and the gluten-free carrot cake which was easily the favorite on the table. It's usually always busy inside the restaurant, so the atmosphere is lively, however, it's definitely not the place to go for a quiet evening out if that's what you're after.

Had a 7:30 reservation for a table on the patio for my friends bachelor party. 9 of us showed up at 7:15 and were told our table wasn't ready which was fine we were a bit early. At 7:30 the host told us that our table still wasn't ready and wouldn't be for a while because tables had overstayed their allotted time. We waited patiently and it wasn't until 8 that they told us they made room for us inside the restaurant. We were never spoken to by a manager. No drinks or apps were sent out for our wait or after we were seated. There was no discount on the bill. I've worked in the industry for a long time and it's alarming that this is how they treat their customer with no respect for their time and no no explanation or accommodation offered. I would not recommend this place if you want to feel valued in any way as a customer it was honestly offensive and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Overrated. Overly priced and nothing special. The staff tries to act like their dishes are more special than they actually are, that they don't need to be modified for a pickier pallette when asked. I ordered the pasta dish with clams, and half of them were either empty or closed. The place was way too loud too. The woman manager was also a bit bitchy. I asked if a window can be opened since two sparklers were lit up and it made me feel sick since it was also stifling. She came up to me saying the AC was on like that was my issue. The waitress, Mila, was a gem. Also I'm assuming the gentleman was the GM and he was helpful as well by getting me a plate of more clams to replace the ones that were missing. Both of them are the only redeeming qualities of this spot. Although it was a bit annoying in the beginning when the host sent me a text saying my table was ready, but still had me wait 15 more minutes. Average quality overall for ridiculously high price. Not worth it. UPDATE: Yeah, this food is trash. I've been stuck on the toilet for almost an hour. I feel like I can't move when I lie down or I will vomit or have raging diarrhea. I paid nearly $200 to feel this bad. Awful, awful, awful.

My boyfriend and I were seated around 4pm this Sunday and sat at our table for 20 minutes without being helped while our waiter walked around to several different tables, at least twice. Literally every table except ours. He did see us, we made eye contact, but he never came to us, nodded or let us know in any way that he'd be a moment. He even had time to roll up an umbrella and move a heater to be closer to another table directly next to us, but could not even come to take a our drink order. A nice busboy filled our water glasses at least. Another couple was seated after us and seemed to have gotten service as well. We have him the benefit of the doubt for a long as we could, then decided to walk across the way to the new sushi spot, where r received prompt welcome and had our food served to us in less time than we sat waiting for our server to acknowledge us in any way. I was very excited to try this spot and now I'm not sure I'll go back.
