Delicious salads, bowls, and tacos. Great patio.
I really enjoyed my visit to plata thousand oaks, very good food, margaritas and excellent service. Thanks leo.
Happy hour is good. I recommend the shrimp civiche.
Thanks for your service
Great food, great service, great experience. Highly recommend.
Always great
Can be a little loud inside but it's not the restaurant's fault. Food and service is always stunning!
First time here and very impressed by the quality of food and freshness! Both short rib enchiladas and mile enchiladas were tasty and delicious! Nellie was great and attentive with her service even though it was hella busy!!! Ambiance was upbeat and full of life and good vibes! Guava Margarita was also pretty good, not overly sweet like other places, balanced! Definitely worth the $15! Guac with habanero and mint and mango, sign me up, it was fresh and absolutely delicious! Highly recommend and will be back soon!
Amazing tacos and great margaritas
Great happy hour menu and service throughout
This place is so delicious in every way!
Plata Cocina Mexicana exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, and the atmosphere was both lively and inviting. The decor is colorful and modern, making it the perfect setting for a great night out. Our server, Dennis, was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu and attention to detail were impeccable. He offered excellent recommendations and made sure our drinks were always topped off without being intrusive. Dennis’ friendly attitude made us feel like we were in great hands all night. His service was truly a highlight of our experience. We’ve been to their first location in Agoura Hills, which was fantastic, but this newer spot is just as good—if not better! The food was incredibly flavorful, with each dish bursting with authentic Mexican spices and fresh ingredients. The carne asada was cooked to perfection, and the tableside guacamole was a fun and delicious touch. And the margaritas? Absolutely amazing. They were perfectly balanced and a great complement to the food. What truly set this experience apart was how accommodating the staff was. We had a few dietary restrictions, and the team handled them flawlessly. Dennis made sure to communicate everything to the kitchen, and the chef went out of their way to ensure our meal was just right. Even the manager, Ramon, stopped by to check on us, which made the experience feel even more personal. Overall, Plata Cocina Mexicana is a gem. Between the flavorful dishes, excellent service, and warm hospitality, it’s a place we’ll definitely return to again and again. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you're in for a treat!
This place is so amazing ! I've never had better food in my entire life!! Our waiter Ivan was so amazing, he always had a happy smile on his face and should be appreciated for his fabulous work. I am for sure coming back and bringing my whole family!!
Went there right when they opened on 8/24/2024. A group of us got drinks and appetizers. Everyone enjoyed the drinks. The appetizers were good…shrimp ceviche and nachos to share. Service was great. atmosphere was awesome. We’ll be back for entrées. If the food is anything like their Agoura Hills location, it’s going to be really good!
Very nice staff and food. Their coconut mojito is to die for 😊
We loved the Agoura location and this one is as amazing. The ambience is nice and much larger than Agoura location. Always friendly waiters/waitresses. Food came fast and as always is soooo good this is my favorite sit down restaurant in all conejo valley. Good prices for good amount of food. Checks all the boxes for a top restaurant that will be very successful. 5+ stars
Katy was amazing. Great food great service for both Katy and the bussers.
I really like the food and the atmosphere. My friends and I shared a few things that were all fresh and delicious! I will definitely be going back!
The food is very delicious, with a unique and delicious flavor. The restaurant is beautiful, and the service is incredible. Fernando, the manager, is very kind and helped us choose the dishes. He was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended
Fernando and Gary helped us at the bar in the service was so friendly. Had a good time and had the best ceviche around for a good price at happy hour.
Met my ladies group for our bimonthly lunch and enjoyed a great meal with good fellowship . Food was tasty, service was nice and location was perfect. Highly recommend.
Tacos are awesome. Quality is great!
Delish reasonably priced food. Our service was excellent. I will definitely be going back soon.
Fun place with friendly service. Really cold beer and tasty margaritas. Ample parking all day.
I am glad we have a new option for modern mexican in Thousand Oaks. I love everything about this restaurant. The location, the menu, the atmosphere.
Beautiful restaurant, outstanding service and excellent food👍👍 I have been going to the location in Agoura hills for past 15 years 😍 I love both places and have been pleased with them. Great place
I stopped in here with my bestie- I was pleasantly surprised- good Mexican food at this place- the carne asada tacos were delicious- excellent service- I will definitely be back here!!!!!!!!
Great food. Beautiful restaurant with amazing staff
Rene was an amazing server! My first time here and I’m definitely coming back. I don’t know what was better the food or the service! Both were exceptional
Outstanding food, atmosphere, and service! Ivan was our server and he made the experience fantastic! We will be coming here regularly. Thanks Ivan!
My wife and I ate there on Saturday. The food was great, the service was amazing, and we loved the atmosphere with live music. I am gluten-free and our server was knowledgeable enough to know that they put flour in the enchilada sauce to thicken it. The chips and salsa were the best I’ve had in a long time. Also we were amazed at how fast our food arrived. It seemed like three minutes, but was probably more like five.
Best Restaurant in Agoura AND Thousand Oaks. Best service, best lunch, best dinner, best drinks, best ambiance, best place to meet anyone, and best community supporter. AND they cater. AND they have space for private parties. 1000 out of 10.
Love this place!! Food and margaritas are always solid and consistent. Happy hour is a must!
I have to say it was the best experience! Service was absolutely amazing. Food was fantastic! We ordered nachos with steak. The nachos were perfect, the steak was so delicious! Will definitely go back often.
My wife introduced me to Plata years ago in Agoura Hills and we both always love it. When we heard that they opened up in Thousand Oaks, we were both so excited because we live right across the freeway from the Oaks Mall where it’s located. It’s a totally different spin on Latin Food which I feel is unique. After reading the other reviews while some of them were inaccurate on those that gave bad reviews. I can only say that we love it!!! As long as we get the Tablita on the menu which is a skirt steak over Anaheim Chili’s accompanying cheese, onions, etc., you can’t go wrong. Our Server, Ivan was over the top attentive. For those that rate a business for their margaritas then all I can say is don’t order them because all margaritas are usually watered down anyway. As far as the atmosphere here at the Oaks, it is nothing different from the Agoura location. Both have parking lot views but I feel the Thousand Oaks location is better for parking than Agoura and this location in the Oaks Mall offers more to patrons that might want to see a movie or shop in the mall. We will definitely return and just ask the general public that is hesitant to give them a chance. They’re still new here and need to fine tune some things like all new businesses do.
Love Plata! I love their Agoura location, and might have liked their new Thousand Oaks location even more! The ambiance is great with fun decorations, the service was fast but not rushed (they let us take our time), and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the burrito bowl - the Al pastor was amazing! Plus, their margs are strong and quite big for $14. Convenient location too, since you don’t have to enter the mall to go to the restaurant.
Had the Dobladitas de tinga which was excellent. The rice was something I have found nowhere else. The flavors that are so good and the beans are great. The fresh fruit drinks are a plus. My girlfriend had the street tacos and loved them. Carmen did an excellent job on service. I will be coming back. It is refreshing to see something different. This restaurant gives that and decor and music are on point. No complaints great service and great food. Keep up the great work.
The restaurant is a very nice place, the food is very tasty and the waiters are very friendly. Rene who helped us in our day was very friendly. I recommend this place.
Food is 10/10. Drinks are 10/10. And Rosa the bartender is 100/10 best bartender ever!
Probably my new favorite restaurant in Thousand Oaks. Above everything the service was exceptional. So attentive and friendly. my server rosa was totally killing it. Food came out quick drinks came out quick. And everything tasted amazing. I’m definitely coming back. Make sure you try their mixed drinks!
Plata Cocina Mexicana in Thousand Oaks is a must-try! The new location at 170 W Hillcrest Dr is absolutely stunning. The food is out of this world, with every dish bursting with flavor. From the sizzling fajitas to the authentic mole, everything is a masterpiece. The service is top-notch, too – our server was attentive and friendly. If you're craving delicious Mexican cuisine in a beautiful setting, Plata Cocina Mexicana is the place to be!
Omg. So lucky to have found this place. Normally i steer away from mall food - this is AMAZING!! We have been all through Mexico and it’s difficult to find authentic Mexican food. From the chips and salsa to the guacamole to start. The mole is totally authentic. To the desert - a chocolate molten cake with chipotle that makes it a tiny bit spiced. The decor is so upscale - so different for a Mexican restaurant. Comfortable chairs. Will be back many times. Thankful to have this in the 805!!
Awesome spot! The atmosphere here is very welcoming. The staff is amazing! They made some great recommendations with the drinks. Definitely sit outside. Their chairs are extremely comfortable and make for a really homey feeling while eating. They were playing the game so that was a nice touch while we enjoyed our food.
Plata Cocina Mexicana is the finest Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles. I grew up in Los Angeles and I’ve been to every type of Mexican ,Latin restaurant in Southern Calif. been going to the original Plata on Agoura Road for many years this new location is super cool . my favorite dish here is the epic Alambre tacos so unique & tasty !and the Mole flat chicken plate is out of this world! They serve a variety of fantastic margaritas with fresh juiced fruit GM Ramon and his staff do a great job Plenty of easy, free parking in the Oaks shopping mall right next to Lazy Dog and AMC Theater Sal
Great happy hour and happy hour menu! The Tablita and borrito bowls are excellent. Our new favorite spot in TO for Mexican food.
OMG! Delicious! Freezing mug of Made West beer! Tasty chips and fresh guacamole! Got the Carnitas burrito bowl. Wow! That was awesome and HUGE! Wife got the 3 taco plate! Excellent! No room for dessert! LOL very nice place and clean! Service was very nice and friendly. Stop by! Can’t wait to return!!
Plata is a great addition to Janss. Mexican food, but with a bit of an elevated presentation. With this elevation often comes pretentiousness, but not at Plata; flavors and the comforting factor are not lost. Some of the dishes I've tried haven't been my favorite, there are some unique flavor combinations on the menu that don't always work for me. But they're always executed well. The dining area is clean, modern, and comfortable, and the service is quick and friendly. Definitely a good option if you're in the area.
As native Californian my spirits don’t lie—Plata in Thousand Oaks is enchanted. 🌙 The brunch is authentic, bold, and ancestor-approved. One bite and the veil was thin. The drinks? POTENT. Not brunch cute—ritual strength. Sip wisely. Good vibes, warm service, powerful flavors. I didn’t eat here… I completed a spell. 🌮🍹✨ Return visit already foretold.
Date night out and I really didn't want to go out to eat because it seems like the food and service at restaurants have gone downhill lately. Cooking at home has been predictable for sure but with some thought I agreed to go out if it was for Mexican food. So we decided on going to Plata. We went years ago when they first opened and loved it so we decided to give it a another go! We went early (5:00pm) to take advantage of their happy hour and to watch Monday Night Football. We ordered the happy hour beer & margarita (it was huge and strong) and 3 tacos (carne asada, carnitas & al pastor) to begin with. The tacos were $4/each and they were filled with lots of tasty, lean, tender good quality meat. They all were absolutely delicious! We ate that with freshly made and wonderfully seasoned chips with amazing salsa (AND they always replenished it without us even asking!) We did decide to order entrees also (no judging on our eating! The tacos were so delicious we HAD to try other things!) My husband ordered the Tablita and I ordered the Enchiladas De Res. My husband's steak was so tender and again, seasoned perfectly! My enchiladas were filled with braised short ribs which was so TENDER and had a wonderful sauce on the enchiladas. It was also served with a cheesy cauliflower dish which was incredible and also rice. Let me tell you, the cauliflower was worth the trip by itself! WOW! Just WOW! BUT everything we got really was worth the trip. So much food we were even able to bring some home for lunch the next day. The service was over-the-top EXCELLENT! Everyone was so friendly and anticipated our every need. They went out of their way to truly make our dining experience one that was memorable. Good job Ivan & team!!! We appreciate you all. It is going to be hard to keep me away from visiting here again. If you are craving Mexican food, this is the place to go!
This place is a gem! We love having them near our home. In our most recent visit, Katie was our server and she was truly AMAZING! Kind, fast and even made a drink recommendation that is my new favorite. The food is spectacular and so are the drinks.
Plata Cocina was an absolute delight! The modern and inviting atmosphere, coupled with the exceptional service provided by Ashlee, created a truly memorable dining experience. The food was simply divine, offering a perfect blend of flavors and textures. We began our meal with a classic Guacamole and chips. The salsa was delicious, but we requested a spicier option. They promptly brought out their spicy habanero salsa, which is highly recommended for those who enjoy a bit of heat. Among our favorite dishes, the Tablita stood out. The angus grilled steak was incredibly tender and flavorful, accompanied by tasty rice and beans. We also indulged in their tacos, choosing three different ones, but the Alambre was my absolute favorite. Highly recommended by our server Ashlee, this taco was a must-try. It was not spicy, but incredibly delicious! I wish I had ordered three of them instead. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Plata Cocina and can’t wait to return for more of their delectable cuisine.
Aside from being greeted by the hostess’s belly button (super weird outfit choice for this type of place - my husband and I were both confused at how the outfit didn’t match what we thought the vibe should be lol), we had a great time. The food was extremely delicious and we’d love to go back next time we’re in town.
Highly recommend!! This place was incredible and very accommodating. I am a very picky eater and get nervous asking for changes. But our waiter took all my swaps like a champion, and even offered to make me a new drink when I didn't like my first one. You can smell the restaurant from around the corner and it smells incredible! All the food was beautiful and very fresh. The colors are very vibrant and sitting on the patio is a must while the weather is perfect!
Delicious and tasty! This is a new upscale Mexican restaurant located behind Lazy Dog and next to the AMC theatre. They have a large bar in the center and seating all around. They also have a few outdoor space where they can host large parties. I had tried many of their appetizers such as enchilada, taquitos, Guacamole chips, and more. The chips can be a little bit salty as some of the seasonings Were congregated in the same chip. But the salsa was amazing. Their desserts were delicious. We tried the caramel flan, pistachio cake, and chocolate lava with ice cream. The chocolate lava had chipotle in it with a nice kick. This place is great to hang out with friends and socialize. Or even have a nice sit down dinner. Service was excellent! I love that this is a mom and pop which served authentic dishes from central Mexico.
Awesome new place in Thousand Oaks, next door to Lazy Dog in the Oaks Mall. Food is superior, as is the service and atmosphere. Recent opened, the site was completely remodeled and decorated...very cool vibe. Lots of outside seating and plenty of parking.

A few local friends said Plata was a bit pricey and overrated. I’m glad I didn’t listen to them and tried it for myself. I had a lunch meeting with a partner here. Upon walking in I was impressed with the warm welcome, as well as the very clean, modern vibe of the space. Is it pricier than the typical local Mexican joint? Yes. Is it far greater quality with a wonderful ambiance, and phenomenal service justifying the nominal additional cost… absolutely! This restaurant is next level, in a category of its own really for the genre. The chips: great. Homemade salsa: fire. Quality of food, amazing. Service: on-point. I look forward to my next visit. Thanks for a great experience to the staff. ✌🏻
First time visit and man can I tell you it was phenomenal! Me and my friend got so lucky to be sat in Nelly’s section. She had great recommendations for us when we asked about what she thought was the best cocktails and beverages. Was patient as we took our time chatting and completely forgetting about placing an order. Service was so prompt - like you’d think she snapped her fingers and the food was ready. Truly remarkable service. The food - you could taste the freshness! Legit so sold on why so many people have loved coming here that I regret not coming here sooner. Thank you Nelly for this amazing service, hospitality, and recommendations. Can’t wait to come back!
For a Monday it was seemed like a steady night for them. Went to see my sisters and their husband's and my niece since one sister was visiting from our of state. My other sister recommended we meet there. First off it was Monday so keep that in mind. We got seated instantly for 7 ppl, awesome. Menu was elegant good options and not too many options that you can't decide and end up playing it safe. I had whiskey and bottom bowl with shrimp as my protein. We did 3 appetizers the nacho libre the guacamole dip and the enpenadozos I might have misspelled that anyways amazing food staff totally got everything just right and they even let me adjust their vodka mule to a whiskey one it was yummy. We kept asking for to go boxes care we under requested them and no joke two employees came to give us more the seem really trans oriented which I can appreciate having been in a management position for now then a decade in the food industry. Loves it there great atmosphere small but not too tiny I'd say good in and outdoor seating they have bar seating. It's worth the few $$$ my group paid that night... Which was two days ago lol they even had coloring and crayons for my little niece she loved it

Good food and drinks
Upscale Mexican restaurant with modern charm.
Tried this Mexican restaurant located inside the mall and had an average experience. The location is convenient and easy to stop by while shopping, which is a plus. The food was okay—nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. Unfortunately, the service was pretty slow, even though the place wasn’t busy, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it’s a decent spot if you’re already at the mall, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to visit.
The food is great! The service is quick and attentive. Our wait staff was very friendly and efficient. The only drawback was the rude and unpleasant hostess - she needs a healthy dose of finishing school.
With one plate two people can eat. I think the waiters can the customers let them know about it.
Salsa and chips were the best! Short rib tacos and crispy shrimp tacos were delicious.
The tacos here are decent. They have some of the better tacos in the Conejo Valley. The alambre taco was fantastic. The crispy cheese really sets it apart from any other taco I’ve had around this area. The carne asada taco was good, as was the short rib. The carnitas, which is usually one of my favorites , was some of the most disappointing carnitas I’ve had. There was virtually no crispness to them. It was basically a big chunk of meat and fat in a tortilla.
Love this place! They have a great happy hour but the food is also very fresh and delicious. We shared the shrimp ceviche which was delicious and I also got the Al pastor taco- incredible! Not pictured was also the shredded pork taco I got which was also delicious. I haven’t had anything here I wouldn’t recommend. . . . UPDATE- are here with my family and everything we got was fantastic. We got tacos, salad, steak and it as all delicious.
Beautifully decorated restaurant with large bar. Plenty of traditional options as well as healthy salads and unique dishes. The watermelon aqua Fresca was delicious and my friend said her margarita was perfectly strong and tasty. Great spot for Sunday brunch with friends.
The food was small portions but the steak and chicken were extremely tender. The house Margarita needs improving. Chips were different. Cool restaurant though, bartender was super nice. I’d go back eventually.
Food was great. Sangria was delicious. Loud atmosphere when busy. Service was great too!
We had an excellent meal. Our meal came to us nice and hot and very Delicious. The restaurant wasn’t very busy at all. The service was very slow to get to us to take our order once seated. Over ten minutes. The food came out quickly once we placed our order.

The food is not that great, rice was hard.
I had a very unpleasant experience with one of the waiters. We ordered a double-shot Piña Colada, but it was all sugar and contained no alcohol. When I asked if anything could be done, he said it couldn’t. Later, I asked a question about a dish that includes lime and whether it was sour, and he replied rudely, saying, “It says lime, lime is lime.” His attitude was extremely unprofessional and lacked basic customer service skills. While the food at this restaurant is delicious, his behavior negatively affected our experience. And more over he is Spanish like we are , 9 of us witnesses…. Rude person …
Food is served room temperature. I got the fish taco it cane out cold and uncooked. Then i ordered the steak taco, although the meat and flavor was amazing it as well as the tortilla were at room temperature. Guacamole and service were amazing.
Food tasted good but a bit on the smaller side of portions. The beans were a bit hard. None of the salsas have any spice to them, though one had good flavor. Would've loved to have at least 1 spicy salsa. We had 1 server but many other workers to deliver our food. Our server didn't check in very much, and we would ask the other workers for missing items or for additional drinks. We always got a response along the lines of "you have to tell your server" or "I'll let your server know," but nothing ever happened. We had to ask multiple people for missing tortillas and to order additional drinks(which took a while). When ordering beer, we were asked if we wanted a pint or the bigger glass. We decided to go with a bigger glass, but then was told they didn't have any more "big" glasses. Maybe it was just a messy day, but for a first-time experience, it was not the best. Visually, it is very nice.
Food was good (served hot, didn't wait too long), and the waiter was attentive. The hostess who seated us needs to put a smile on her face. Not a good first impression when you're going to spend $ in a restaurant.
Dear chef and creative team, stop serving your soup in a pot. I expect my soup to arrive in a bowl and eat it like a normal person. Serving in a pot in the Hispanic culture is almost offensive and like you want the maid to not touch your plates and eat it standing up holding on to the pan handle. Please reconsider how you serve that dish. The Elvia's Mole is pollo asado drizzled with mole sauce over roasted potatoes served on a wooden board, and, I had to purchase the side of rice. Very disappointed bc the sauce was delicious but not the way the plate was paired. It looked like a sad charcuterie board; add to this, the tortillas were cold. The food (main dishes) arrived late (almost an hour wait time) and not as warm as we'd expect it despite telling the waiter to bring the food as it was available bc we were seated outdoors and it was cold despite the heaters on. The great part of the menu is their appetizer side. I have no complaints on their guac, their nachos and their taquitos. Mocktails were delicious. Alcoholic drinks had cheap liquor. The horchata tasted like powder milk. I felt disappointed bringing a large crowd to dine in and to not enjoy the food and drinks as we'd expected. Maybe we can try again and order less authentic Mexican dishes at this Mexican cocina.

It's a poor imitation of Mexican food to cater to the rich old people just because it's in Thousand Oaks. Food is mid, acoustics are afoul especially inside, service was terrible. It felt like the server's didn’t know what tables they were serving. It's like they are trying to be one of those fancy restaurants with the way they style and decorate the inside and the way they plate their food. It's kinda sad honestly. You walk in and think your going to get served Mediterranean food instead of Mexican.
This location just doesn't have the same warmness and cool feel that the one in Agoura does. The food is not as good either. My wife ordered the Cesars Salad, and the lettuce was browning and the whole salad was tasteless and boring and didn't have anchovies or Worcestershire sauce in the dressing. Anchovies are the key ingredient in a Cesars Salad that make it stand out. Make it the right way. If the wimps who don't like the anchovies don't want them in it, then offer to leave them out.
I have been to the location in Agoura and I remember liking a few items on the menu and I remember the margaritas being so good ao I expected the same from here but it didnt live up to the Agoura Plata reputation. The house margarita was really bad, I dont know if it was too much citrus or what their mix even was but I couldn't drink it, really unpleasant. Our food came out, I got a salad and yes I know salads are basic but this quinoa one was pathetic and I felt dumb that I just paid for that salad. My husband got the cheese enchiladas and said they were mid.
Very loud when sitting inside, difficult to have conversation. Food was substandard, enchiladas were thrown together and no cheese , burrito had very little meat
I don't like to give bad reviews but the service at this restaurant is 1 star. I have eaten here twice to give the restaurant another chance and the waiters and waitresses do not return to your table and are not consistent. The people that work here are confused and untrained. The food was also not consistent! I had a kale salad and the chicken was so tough I could not chew it. The kale was one large piece. I didn't even eat it. It's to bad because it is a beautiful restaurant. I have eaten at the Agoura location and it is a little better but the people that work there have a bad attitude and act as if they hate to work there. Hopefully management can create a better work environment so this restaurant can thrive. It definitely has potential.
We love the original restaurant in Agoura hills and my husband was really excited when this location opened up closer to home. But something always seems to happen when a restaurant that is doing everything just right tries to expand. Everything goes south and this is no exception. We tried the new location yesterday and ordered all the same things that we normally order in Agoura Hills. The margaritas tasted watered down, my enchiladas had a completely different sauce on them that was very unappealing and universally, everything was grossly under seasoned. On top of the very disappointing food, the atmosphere at this new location is lacking. I will not be back and at this point I'm really just hoping that this decline hasn't spilled over into the Agoura Hills restaurant.
Rude hottests, the manager doesn't care, what a nightmare. I would never go back. So unorganized and unprofessional.
Horrible service.
The ambiance was great, the servers were attentive and consistent. But the food… the food was HORRENDOUS, brunch was served cold and dried out, like it had been under a heat lamp or steam table for too long. The country potato’s were overly salty, and chorizo con huevo were UNDER seasoned. How someone could make chorizo con huevo bland, is truly a talent. Overall a nice spot but the food killed all views of this place.
The service was phenomenal, clean bright open. Ceviche was delicious and salad with fresh but I found a couple of hairs in my food, which is still making my stomach turn . Please be more careful..
I ordered a burrito with MOLE SAUCE INSTEAD OF RED SAUCE. Guess what I got red sauce and they wouldn't make it right. What a disgrace
The food is bad they should not name Mexican food
Service was bad, food wasn’t worth it. It took the waiter 15min to come back to our table and to ask what drinks we wanted.
DONT BELEIVE THESE LIES! Awful rubbery chicken in enchiladas. Carne asada tacos that had tortillas that ripped apart in your hand. No lime or salsa to load the tacos, just meat and 1 tortilla per taco. Horchata is powder in a cup with some water. I was drinking sand practically. No guacamole on the menu.
Where to begin… we arrived, a party of 4, at 4:48 pm - to celebrate our daughter’s 21st birthday, and even mentioned that to the server who verified by checking her ID. The restaurant was maybe a 1/3 filled with people, mostly at the bar. So they were not busy. Two tables were sat nearby after us. It took 20 minutes to get drinks. We ordered food, as did the two other tables nearby after us. The other tables receive their food, and we were served last - fine, no big deal. The other tables ate, got their checks in a timely manner and left - then all the tables around us were filled and served. The server was terrible, we saw him 4 times in the 2 hours we waited for food, drinks and our check. While the tables around us were turned over twice. Worse, despite mentioning it was my daughter’s birthday (and another table also had mentioned their own celebration), the waiter did nothing - but the other table celebrating a birthday did have the servers sing. Absolutely the most horrible service we have ever experienced in Thousand Oaks.
I was pleasantly surprised and impressed on the authenticity ,quality , presentation of the meal ! Finally! We have a great Mexican restaurant at the Oaks Mall in TO ! You’re first after me on braggin’ rights !
This place was garbage. My wife was looking forward to eating some great quality food and we got less than Taco Bell quality. Disappointed . The margaritas taste like gas. My wife was unhappy and ready to leave it was not worth what we paid.
I've been to the Agoura one and the food is always good but coming to the Oaks was not a great experience. Apparently it was comedy night? It was extremely loud and couldn't even hear my server. Never got refills on chips or drinks. The plata margarita is absolutely terrible. Might be one of the worst I've ever had for the price. We asked the server if they had churros and got a spicy chocolate instead. Really unfortunate experience because I love the food.
Very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. Arrived at 640pm and checked in with the hostess. Was told it would be about 20 minutes. At about the 20 minute marked my husband noticed that people who arrived after us were getting seated so he went to check in with the hostess. She said your next after the person who’s first in line. Perfect we were not forgotten or so we thought. At the 45 minute mark again after seeing more people get seated my husband went to check in with the hostess again. At this point she told him oh for Lupe we seated someone that arrived after you because your name was crossed off give me a sec. How on earth did Lupe get crossed off your list when 20 minutes prior you knew we were still waiting. The hostess walked away to check with the second hostess and at that point my husband and I decided this wasn’t the place for us to have dinner. I will never return here. Clearly they select who they are going to seat and when they want to seat them regardless of how long you have been waiting. Do better Plata. Train your staff to treat everyone equally as this is unacceptable.
