You will ALWAYS be greeted when walking into the restaurant, unlike most places their greeting is genuine and not bland. They won't rush you to order or huff-n-puff when you're looking at the menu. They won't talk negative about the customers while in the back. They don't have nasty attitudes like they're miserable and don't want to be at work. The food is flavorful. I've tried everything except the sushi. Stop by and give them a Konichiwa👋
Our favorite Japanese spot in the area. Food is delicious. We always get hot sake, beers, a couple appetizers, sushi and yakisoba. My husband says it's the best yakisoba and we travel all over the country. The owners are very friendly. They're in the process of building an outdoor patio that looks really nice so far.
First time trying Fuji driving to Las Vegas on the back road. Had the best service from an awesome girl who was cooking and serving tables. She was busy but friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent (spicy chicken). Support family owned businesses like this before everything turns into boring chains. To the vegans who left a one star review below because they did not have a vegan menu - businesses are not obligated to cater to your needs. Go find a vegan restaurant, get over your self - entitlement and go f yourself.
One of those little spots that doesn't look like much, but they make good food. Also, their health grade is an A, so they are serving you clean food. I like it here. The owner is super nice. He makes the sushi himself, and he knows my face now, so he gets my order out pretty quick. I appreciate that local business feel and I just really like good sushi. Tip: try the edamame! Really good.
Quiet, inexpensive restaurant on the side of the highway. Great place to eat if you're looking for something quick and delicious. The employees are all very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend if you need a quick bite, or if you're looking for an affordable yet cozy dinner date.
Stopped at Fuji after a long day of hiking in Joshua Tree. It was an excellent meal! Very glad to have stopped here for takeout, the fried rice and teriyaki beef plates were so much food. Was great to have leftovers for our second day in the park!
A quaint, cozy, hidden gem. If you like hole in the wall places - this on me is for you. The prices are reasonable and the food is prepared with care. The staff (especially the kitchen staff) are passionate about providing delicious food. One went out of his way to ensure we didn't find the sushi roll too spicy since the jalapeño was fresh and extra firey. Great for takeout but I recommend eating in. Don't sleep on this place!
Yay! They're OPEN on Mondays! You have to stop by here if you're craving sushi. Sushi was fresh and DELICIOUS. My S.O. ordered the BBQ beef ribs and they had so much flavor ( a little fatty) but as good as it gets! 😋 I definitely will be coming back. :)
Fuji restaurant is our go to spot in 29 for great sushi. The owner and staff are great, and the sushi is surprisingly good for a desert spot. Highly recommend.
I stopped here for sushi after a long trip the shift and they were very respectful. the sushi was superb I had the number eight and the fish and rice were fresh. I enjoyed eating here.
I’ve never eaten here, however I get deliveries from here very often and they are the sweetest people! Always happy to see me and friendly.
Cozy restaurant run by a very sweet couple. My chicken katsu curry was so yummy 😊 I love coming here because it feels so homey and the food is comforting.
Love this place! The food is good and the service is great they are so nice and accommodating. They have a nice selection of beers too good spot to just hang out, next month they are opening a wall and making a big outdoor seating area I can’t wait!
Great food! Always fresh ingredients and made to order in little time. Best Japanese for a small town with very reasonable prices.
Food was great! My wife had the Korean BBQ (galbi) and I had the Yakisoba. Both were perfect, highly recommend!
I have always had a great experience here. The staff are very respectful and aim to please. They also have a couple of off menu items that are each unique and great. This is a true hidden gem in twentynine palms.
The food was absolutely delicious and the staff super friendly. I would definitely recommend others coming here if you are stopping by Joshua Tree National Park

I have been coming here over 20 years and crave it when I'm gone. I drove over an hour to get here... it is that good
I had 3 different sushi rolls plus an appetizer and it was the bomb! The sushi was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend if you’re into sushi. Next time I’ll be ordering off of the traditional side of the menu. I could smell an order as it was leaving. Yum
The food here is so good! My favorite is the Udon! While this is the only place in town with Udon it is some of the BEST udon ive had. The owners are incredibly kind. The service and food are both amazing.
Food was amazing. The spicy chicken bulgogi was well prepared. I can’t wait to see how the sushi roll is later tonight!

The people that work here are very friendly and kind especially the older man and woman (the owners, I assume). The food is good. A good place to eat in Twentynine. There can be a wait sometimes. I like to call my order in ahead of time. Also, sometimes they do delivery.
Lemme say i love the food here. Not only is it a nice breath of fresh air in the desert to have seafood but the freshness is definitely tasted and appreciated. The friendly staff always makes my visit pleasant and expeditious. Also coming from being stationed in Okinawa, this is the closest it get to Japan.... enjoy!!
Just tried here again after a few years. Ordered the spicy chicken and the beef and I’m disappointed. They have changed cooks or recipes since then. The meat in both barely had any flavor. 4 stars for friendly quick service.
Been a local favorite for over 15 years. Main staff are always great and friendly. Additional hires are hit or miss as with most places. Everything I have ever ordered from here has been satisfying. Not 5 stars due to limited seating, food wait times(mostly not bad) and restrooms are in need of a touch up.
Quaint little sushi/Asian food place located in a town that is in desperate need of both cultural variety and healthy food options. Very nice hard-working staff. If they are busy, it's still worth the wait. Way better than the local/typical 'cheese burger quesadilla' option.
This place is not the best Japanese place for sure! However considering it location and everything else around this place is a welcoming addition to the town of Twentynine Palms! It tasted alright to me and no much if any other like this in area fish is farmed but still taste good!

Food was better then usual, it was lunchtime so it was fresh.
This place has been here for Decades. Though they changed owners, everything stayed the same. I would've love to give 5 stars, however, due to economy, they cut back on some ingredients on certain food, like their (still really delicious) creamed angels. All of the food is hand made, which is so rare now a days.

The food was very good, The wait staff was friendly, but we had to ask & track them down to get utensils, something to drink, and they forgot to give me my appetizer but I did not want to track them down for another thing. I believe to be a great place to call and order and pick up but not dine in.
The food is good, I enjoy it. But THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME MY DANG DUCK SAUCE LMAO. They said that the duck sauce has no use for the order and weird me likes it on my fried rice. But they kept saying no to my delivery driver :( so sad
If you like my comment please click on the ❤️ and show some love 😘 This my second time returning to this spot... I was hoping they fixed some things... They didn't. If I ever come back it will only be for the short ribs, short ribs are still kind of pricey. Other than that the chicken and beef rice dish was horrible. All the meat was DRY... The rice was not rice... They have plenty of room for improvements, they just need to actually do it... I don't recommend this spot to anyone. Sorry...
The egg rolls were soggy and the sauce was blah. The fried shrimp were just ok. The frying oil on the shrimp tasted like it was old and used many times. The atmosphere is messy and disorganized. I wouldn't eat here again.

Certainly the worst experience of service I've had in a long time. The restaurant only has six tables total and still it seemed the server forgot about us. We were at the restaurant for a about three hours and at least two of that was waiting to order after being seated and waiting for the food after we finally ordered. My wife and I ordered sushi. The food was good but when we left we were still considering getting something from Jack in the Box. The only upside to having terrible service is that we had a nice long conversation with our friends.
Corn and no egg in shrimp fried rice. Did not taste good. Sushi was okay for the middle of the desert.
Although the customer service was pleasant. The food quality was not so Much and the cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par. There’s a giant A Posted in the window but that is completely misleading. We had 2 hairs in our sushi and one of the waitresses is also a cook, who sat us down and gave us our silverware wearing the dirtiest apron. I still appreciate the waitress we had because she definitely was polite and did her best to take care of us. Unfortunately we won’t be going back.
I’ve eaten several different things several different times at this place and it was never, ever good for the price. The udon is decent, but the sushi is bad. The rice is terrible. The last time I ate here the chicken katsu curry made me sick.

$17 for 2 cali rolls. It honestly tasted like gas station sushi. No taste or flavor. The only thing that was true and tasted good was the ginger but it was warm not cold. Very disappointed in this place. What made it worse was that there was a coach roach in the restroom and only made me feel uncomfortable about this place even more. I trusted the ratings! For those who love sushi and are coming to visit Joshua tree do not go here. Better off getting Jack n the box tacos.
I would give 0 stars if possible. My friend and I came in and each ordered 2 rolls and first they messed up the orders. Then 55 minutes later I got 1 roll and my friend got one that he didn't order. Then we asked how long it would take before we got our correct order and the worker said 10 more minutes so we left. And they still charged me 15 dollars for the one roll that took them an hour to give me. Horrible place. Horrible service. Poorly staffed. Cramped. No leg room
Went in with low expectations based on the word around town in regards to this establishment. By golly gee… I should have taken others’ word for it. Absolutely terrible experience through and through. Waitress was friendly enough; however service was slow. The chef looked like he was having a bad day based on the product that was served to us. *throwing tomatoes*
overcrowded and poor service. Waited almost an hour and wasn't served my food but others who came after my group were severed there's. All I ordered was sushi and it took them an hour to make it. Then when we tried to leave we were still being ignored when trying to pay. The cashier looked right at us and then proceeded to service everyone in line but us. Took 15 min. Just to pay. The food here is good but considering both times I've ordered and actually gotten my food after a LONG wait it's never been what I ordered but I still ate it and it was decent, but not worth the shity service. The only thing that keeps this place busy is all the boot Marines that go there to drink. I hope this place gets better or just closes .
We walked in yesterday. Two employees behind the front counter. We were not greeted or acknowledged in any way. We picked up a paper menu and looked it over. Nothing vegetarian or vegan in the place but a side of plain rice. I put back the menu and before turning to leave I said to the employee that we are vegan and there is nothing here for us. The person just looked at me like I was from another planet. I wish I was! Will never be going back. Everything was very expensive so even if the food is good, their customer service and pricing is trash.
Got my order wrong. Gave me 2 of the same roll instead of one and the other. Also found PLASTIC in the middle of my roll. I will avoid eating here from now on.
Used doordash to place my delivery order. I ordered a roll, katsu chicken combo (comes with soup and salad) and shrimp tempura. All came out to $41. It's not the best to say the least. Lived out here for 5 years. Sorry to say this is the first ans last time I try this place. Don't waste your money

Bad food, awful service. All the food is too sweet and dry. 100% not recommend!
I hate to have to leave this review, but I’d feel like I’d be doing a disservice to the community if I didn’t. I’m writing this as I’m having the beef fried rice for leftovers and it is honestly, one of the saddest dishes I have ever had. Not only does it not look appetizing, it taste just like it looks. I also got the bento box that came with two rolls and veggie tempura and even that was hard to get through. This was my second attempt at trying this place and this experience solidified that I won’t be eating here again. It’s sad because 29 has limited options with food.
