Very good food & friendly staff. Limited seating, better for takeout.
An excellent authentic Filipino restaurant with helpful staff that will help you through the traditional options if you're not familiar. Plenty of parking but small ish dining area. Best to put in your orders for dinner early else they will run low on options (fish, meats, dishes, etc). I'm driving home with a couple of bags. The car smells so good! The family will eat well for several days!
Don't let the small place fool you. They crank out GOOD food! There's not a bad dish on the menu. This is a go to place for local Filipino food in Union City.
The food are very delicious but the employees are not friendly. They don't greet the customer coming.
Great Filipino food. Try the Javanese rice with BBQ chicken or New York steak. They also serve a good size portion so you might be able to share one order for two people. The place is always busy so plan ahead and be prepared to wait.
Really delicious and homey Filipino food. It’s honestly my favorite Filipino restaurant in Union City. My families go to orders: tocino, liempo, crispy pata, sinigang, pancit bihon (in that order). One thing worth mentioning—there is a <50% chance they will pick up their phone. It’s honestly an ongoing joke with my fam that they never pick up. If you’re trying to place an order for pick up, keep trying. Godspeed
Delicious cooking. But, very small dining area. Only tables. Always a wait. Best to order take out
Filipino food that tastes just like it was cooked at home. We had a party of 8 and ordered the food a la carte. We ended up having to bring the rest home. The portions are generous and it tastes great!
Lovely little restaurant with great selection of traditional filipino food. I've been a few times and have never been disappointed. Its a kind of hole-in-the-wall place but I love it! Delicious food and friendly staff!
My favorite Filipino restaurant for Tocilog. Hands down the best Tocilog anywhere in the SF Bay and Beyond. Flavoring, texture, aroma and big portions were on point.
My favorite Filipino food spot in the Bay Area! The food here tastes like home. The food is always good whatever you order, and the prices are a great value. I always try to come here regularly. Just know that the inside seating is very limited and there are not that many tables. So, it's sometimes hard to get seating during busy hours. However, the food is prepared fairly quickly and table turn over is fast.
I ordered the steak with Java rice. Got the calamari as an appetizer. Everything was delicious. Great service. We waited about 10 minutes to get seated. Parking was easy. We parked right up front. Food portions more than enough. Left very satisfied. Will be back again for sure!!!
I wanted to grab some food after work and was in the mood for something new. I had passed by Toppings Too before when going to the old coffee shop. The interior is very small maybe sitting 6 or 7 different parties. I ordered the Adobo Chicken with Java Rice for takeout. The food was prepared in less than 20 minutes. The male cashier was very polite and quickly took care of me as I entered the restaurant. The food was very hot and delicious! He warned me to be careful not to spill the sauce. They accommodated my to go order by separating the chicken from the rice with some foil. I was very impressed with the flavor and scarfed most of the dish down quickly after receiving it. The price wasn't bad for the portion and quality of food! I will definitely come back to try some different dishes.
Filipino restaurant with big portions. One rice plate is enough for two small people. The garlic-flavored java rice is a standout. The place is small and parking is bad whenever the nearby masjid is in session, but it's great for a late lunch / early dinner whenever the masjid is not in session.
My family and I come here once a while to go here since they serve more unique Filipino dishes since most of Filipino restaurants don’t serve Java Rice for example. This is a very small restaurant and I thought today is going to be full, but surprisingly, it isn’t. People usually go through takeout orders. I remember that they write down food items at the chalkboard, but it’s empty for now. I never bothered researching what Java Rice is, but it’s supposed to be Filipino fried rice fused with turmeric as its main flavor. The BBQ Chicken is really good especially when it comes with its own gravy. I never bothered trying other menu items besides what I have today, but definitely will try others when I come back!
When my Tita is not home, this is the spot! Fresh, flavorful and well worth the wait. Natural Filipino hospitality from the moment you step in the doorway.
It's open again after 4 months of being closed due to a fire. 👏👏👏👏 This is Union City's hidden gem. A hole in the walll. Limited seating but huge menu. I tried their Sinigang na Bangus, Vegetable Lumpia, Fish Balls, and Beef Tapa. The place looks cleaner and organized. It's not good for big groups. Only 8 tables with no patio seating.
Great Filipino food, from crispy para to liempo and more in between. The fried chicken tasted like Max's and the sinigang na hipon tasted like a home-cooked meal. The place is small (4 tables with dividers) and they don't take reservations so you will wait during peak hours but it's worth the wait.
This place is no joke! They have the crispiest pata I’ve had, when they say sizzling plate it sizzling hot! Huge portion, cooked to almost perfect :). The bathroom is located outside of the premises, limited parking space and a bit cramped inside but then again I forgot all of this once I start stuffing my face with food. The food came out within fast as well.
It's good to be back! Toppings Too has not lost its touch in terms of very delicious, flavorful Filipino cuisine & hole-in-the-wall appeal. A couple of weeks ago, hubby & I visited this Union City branch two days in a row just to prove to ourselves that the great cooking was not a fluke. Service was quick & friendly. The cutlery & dishes need a bit more cleaning in spots. However, if you focus just on the great food quality & satisfying your Filipino food cravings du jour, Toppings Too is the place to go! PS Order their famous Java rice which goes with anything!
Used to come here all the time in the 2010s and was in town for the day, so i ordered the Lechon and Crispy Pata and this place still got it. Great food and good service. I was a little crestfallen they no longer serve Sisig but they never lost a step. Bravo Toppings
Toppings Too is a favorite go to spot for Filipino food. This is one of several restaurants located in other areas including Toppings Juan in South San Francisco and Toppings Three in Santa Clara. Conveniently located in a relatively quiet area of Union City, CA. Seating is limited given the size of the restaurant although don't let that stop you from enjoying what they have to offer. There are always lines out the door; must be cooking up something sarap for sure. :) Fast and friendly service. I've enjoyed practically everything on the menu between various trips and frequently revisit lechon kawali, inihaw na liempo, crispy pata and grilled tocino. Sizzling sisig will sell out fast; therefore, you may want to call in advance or just stop by to know if it's available. This was the first place in the U.S. I tried Dinuguan rice plate at and it surely didn't dissapoint for an authenitic flavor that I remember when travelling numerous times to the Philippines. Thanks to everyone at Toppings Too and the supporters for making this a great place.
Crispy pata is very crunchy. My favorite is the liempo. Java rice is a must. Mouth watering. As close to home cooked food as possible.
If you want authentic Filipino food, which is much less expensive and healthier than American fast food, and you happen to live near TTR, you're lucky! They use fresh veggies and ingredients, and the portions are large. With a humble eating area with nice chill music, they aren't pretentious and for this reason I give them five stars across the board.

When you crave for an authentic filipino dish, this is my to go place. The place may be small but it can accommodate a decent amount of people. On weekends there would be a line and waiting time would be around 15-30 minutes. They have renovated the place and the chairs and tables are new. The food is great. Prices ranges from $15-18 for combo and a la carte aeound $20-30. A la carte would be usually good for 3 people to share. Service is good. Waiting time for food to be served is aeoubd 10-20 mins depending on your orders and the number of orders.
Still the best Filipino food in the bay area. I still love the grill pork tocino and the pinakbet can go wrong with the Java rice. There a lot more to choose from the menu like the combo meals. The place is small you might have to wait to be seated but worth the wait . It's definitely a must try.

O dammm ..so authentic....great food ...for sure I'll visit again...
The food is great, cooked on demand. But that’s both a good thing and bad thing. Because it’s made as you order, it can be a while so be prepared to wait a long time. Once you have it served to you, wow.. it’s the great. Highly recommend their java rice plates and their crispy pata. Their munggo also is one of the best I’ve tasted. Finally, the restroom is outside and ‘round the back of the restaurant so just an fyi.
Love the food here, tastes and feels like an authentic home cooked Filipino meal when we eat here or order to go. Not giving them 5 stars now coz lately they’ve always been out of the grilled NY steak, which we love.
This is THE SPOT for your traditional Filipino food. Fast, friendly service. Seatting is the tricky part. Never had a bad meal. Seriously, you can taste the love in it. Place is very small, unless u get there when they open during the weekdays, good luck!
Picked up a pork sinigang for lunch. It was enough to feed three of us. The savory and tangy soup was well-balanced and super yummy. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes on their menu.
Food is perfect classic Filipino food esp. my fave sizzling Pork chop with java rice. Only reason I'm giving them a 4 star is their small and cramped space. They need to move to a bigger place. They'll actually make more money if they can accommodate more people.
Love coming to this place when in town, if you want simple good Filipino food then this place is great . They do have a small parking area and small restaurant as well. I only wished they opened earlier for breakfast , even it they opened earlier on the weekends . Other than that great food and can't wait to come back again.
My experience was a mixed bag. The food was undeniably delicious, but my interaction with a male matured server/cashier left a sour taste in my mouth. All the dishes were truly impressive. Each bite was a flavor explosion and equally scrumptious. The place knows what it's doing. However, things took a turn for the worse when this matured server/cashier came over to my table. While I appreciate enthusiasm, this owner's brand of passion crossed into intrusive territory. He dominated the conversation. The real kicker came when he started micromanaging my dining experience, insisting I order fewer dishes and serve them on plastic containers. He said I wouldn’t be able to eat them all. I order two dishes so I can take it to go. I replied to him I could’ve eaten at McDonalds, but I want to eat on real plates and use real utensils. Newsflash: if I'm capable of using a fork without guidance, let me enjoy my meal in peace! While the food was great, the server/owner's overbearing demeanor put a damper on what could have been a fantastic dining experience. If Toppings Two Union City can work on striking a balance between attentive service and respecting customers' boundaries, I'd be more than happy to give them a glowing review. Until then, I'll recommend the food, but with a caveat: be prepared for a side of attitude.
Along with a couple other people in our group, it was our first time here. There were only a few tables to dine in, but we placed our orders before getting seated. We had to wait a decent amount outside, but once we got our food it was forgotten about. The food was pretty good, it reminded me of eating at an auntie or lola's house, very home-y. We ordered so many things: Lumpia, Java Rice, Fish Balls, Bistek, Inihaw na Belly Bangus, and Ginataang Gulay. I would've taken more pictures of all the entrees we ordered but I was so hungry that I forgot. Anyways, the Inihaw na Belly Bangus tasted so good, it reminded me of something I'd have at home. We ordered the Ginataang Gulay thinking that it was just vegetables because of the name and it didn't say it included pork on the menu, but it did. I wish they were clear about what they put in their entrees specifically on the menu. I just ate the sauce with vegetables and it was still very delicious. I look forward to coming back and eating here again. Maraming salamat mga Ates at Kuyas!
What we had was good quality. Diniguan, palabok, fried tilapia with (Java rice (okay)not the best. and my fav pinakbet. Everything was good. I haven’t been there for 5 years, but still decent stuff for what we had. Not sure about others on the menu. First opened May 2004. B.TW Is there a Toppings 1? Hint, now is the best for veggie dishes as they are coming out. April… As always, post whatever your palate takes you.
Delicious food, good service, etc. This place has miniscule parking options so, if it wasn't a weird time on a Sunday afternoon we would have parked further than a block away. The place is also tiny so big groups are not ideal. No restroom either. Luckily there was just two of us and it was very good. I ordered palabok and he ordered grilled longanisa. They were out of so many things. I really wanted taho. So, this place is good and average price. All around recommend.

Came here for an early dinner on a regular Sunday. Ordered Beefsteak, Chinese noodles and Deep fried Pork, mango drink. The place was quiet, half empty. The food was great and the staff was friendly. Plenty of parking. Spent about 50 usd. Plenty of food for 2 so took the rest to go. Its a hole in the wall place but the food taste like moms cooking.
Restaurant is small with very limited seating. They didn't seem to have a number of dishes on the menu available on a Saturday evening. As far as the food goes, a little too salty for my taste. The chicken in their adobo was a little on the dry side. The pork nilaga was tasty.
My wife and I usually cook but we were too tired so we tried this place. The service was great, we ordered ahead of time so they were able to accommodate us in the specified time frame. The Crispy Pata was moist inside and skin was very crunchy and the Shanghai Lumpia was delicious. However, the Diniguan needed more flavor and the sauce was too thin. Also, the Beef Sinigan needed more patis and more vegetables, it was tasteless! The price is reasonable, we ordered 4 items, bill came to $40.
lechon kawali was a bit hard for me plus the restroom is too far for my disability, ask for code if one needs to use it.

The food servings are generous and the quality was great—definitely a highlight of our visit. However, the restaurant is not ADA compliant, which made our experience challenging. We arrived with a wheelchair and were directed all the way to the back of the restaurant. The pathway was cramped and did not allow enough space to navigate easily. Staff had to physically move tables to make way, which is not in line with ADA accessibility standards. I sincerely hope the management reconsiders the layout to better accommodate guests with mobility needs and create a more inclusive environment for everyone
We were a group of four and ordered seven different dishes. The lady who served us was kind and accommodating, but unfortunately, the male server I asked for water from was quite the opposite. He appeared irritated when I requested water and also ordered a soda. He placed the glasses and soda on the table with noticeable frustration, and when he poured the water, his expression made it clear he was displeased. While the food itself was good, the poor attitude from this staff member left a negative impression. We brought along two of our Vietnamese friends and felt embarrassed by how we were treated. It’s disappointing, especially since we weren’t expecting overly friendly service — just basic courtesy and respect. Because of this experience, I’m unsure if I would return.
NEVER AGAIN! There was a lady who was the only active server. The other one was a guy who served us with the soy sauce that my son asked for. When i saw that the lady server was very busy, i approached the male server who was at the table where they put their condiments and asked politely if i could have some fish sauce. He did not respond and i thought that he didn’t hear me, so i asked again. Still, in a polite manner. Then he snapped at me and told me in a rude tone, to wait since they were busy. I was later told by the female server that he was the owner. How unfortunate for someone to be running a business that needs customer service, but was VERY POOR at giving one. The female server apologized for him when i told her about what happened. Such manners and poor customer service should not be running a restaurant. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Ordered some food for a family lunch yesterday, which included crispy pata, beef bbq, and laing. The food tasted fine while I was eating it, but a few hours after eating, I ended up feeling very unwell and had to vomit. Throughout the night, I and all of the family members who ate the same food as I did ended up having to use the bathroom many times. We suspect it was the laing, since it contains coconut milk, which can easily spoil. I would highly recommend staying away from that dish. I don't intend on buying food from here again, as it caused me to spend the second half of my birthday heaving.
