Food was incredible, being Irish influenced they brought different dishes to the menu not to be found elsewhere. Super friendly staff and Anna was a pleasure to meet, she really took the time to mingle.
One of the best tasting menus we've had. Loved the Irish theme. The food is of top quality. Half way through was slightly worried as that I might go away hungry as the food was so tasty that I felt hungrier then when I started, but by the end they richness of the desserts filled us perfectly. We opted for the wine pairings which included a large glass of champagne too start with and a glass of Irish Mist too end the meal.
Absolutely outstanding meal and service. It's not very often that you eat food which makes you shake your head in disbelief at the brilliance in every mouthful. I can't not explain how utterly delicious the whole experience was, from the cocktail, to the service, to the tasting menu, everything was perfection. We went for our 5yr wedding anniversary and the whole evening was faultless. Throughly recommend eating here, I can't wait to go back. 5*
Food was absolutely superb. Without any prior warning chefs customised starter and main to suit our dairy free family member and made her a special sorbet for dessert. Tiny little intimate restaurant over two floors with kitchen in basement. Attentive and knowledgeable, friendly staff, one went to the main road to hail our cab home. Not cheap, but worth it so save up.
Excellent food and service. Very intimate restaurant with a low number of covers. If all adds to the experience and means they achieve top service. We tried the tasting menu. Personally, I thought the chocolate dessert was a little underwhelming but every other dish was fantastic. The beef dish was my particular favourite but all of them were special. The bread is also lovely and the black pudding snack is a must try. We all felt the quality of the food and service for the price of the tasting menu was great value.
I can't write two reviews for one place so editing this one, after the previously exceptional food and service we booked Myrtle for our wedding reception, from start to finish Daniel was wonderful, everything went to plan, the guests loved it, we loved it, Daniel modified things as we were going to accommodate guests requirements. The oysters went down extremely well. We can't thank you enough Daniel and the rest of the team for making our day so special. :-) Fabulous, what a fantastic little restaurant. We went for a Saturday lunch to try food before thinking about an event hire. Everything about the meal was wonderful, the service was on point, wine recommendations excellent and the food sublime. We had 2 starters and a signature main each. It was a hard choice to choose the best , fish cake that had a fillet of monkfish running through the middle and oozy pork brawn croquette. We had the hake with oats for main and that was cooked perfectly, the beef with a little beef boxty on the side was a taste explosion. Highly recommend giving this place a go :)
I have been to several 1* restaurants and Myrtle is way better than nearly all of them. Flavours are simply sensational, neat ambient and bright venue, service is top-notch without being too formal. At lunch you will also have the chance to choose a great value fixed set menu. Fairly quiet atmosphere so it feels like you have landed on another world. A tasting menu is highly recommended for anniversaries or a meal with a very special person.
An incredible dining experience. From Ian who welcomed us, Jose our waiter and of course the amazing chef ,Anna who spent time talking to us. The flavours of the food and the presentation were exceptional. I recommend Myrtles highly.
Fantastic tasting menu, really enjoyed every course but I think the halibut was my favourite and I'm not even a huge fish fan! Excellent attentive service by really friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Had my birthday lunch as a treat from my brother and sister in law- We chose the 6 course tasting menu Ian the front of house was charming, wickedly witty and silver tongued in equal measure and really looked after us, with icing on the cake being able to meet Anna Haugh herself Service, ambience and the decor were all incredibly welcoming and in typical Irish fashion we were made to feel like part of a very close knit family The inclusion, preparation , choice of ingredients and execution were what I can describe as “elegant simplicity”, a “less is more” philosophy that translated into distinct, clean, vibrant flavours that proudly hummed out to celebrate the best of Irish ingredients used expertly to draw out their maximum flavour and taste, from the pre starter of the golden vegetable soup, through to the tender sirloin of Irish beef and finishing with the chocolate Guinness cake and a selection of petit fours All in all a fantastically memorable experience and we will come again especially to sample the delights of the changing seasonal menu
OMG, the food here is made with love and the fact that the legend that was Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy played in the background for a while has no bearing on my review! The duck and beef main courses were incredible and the waffle with the duck was so tasty! Great starters too and loved the Carlingford oysters! Service wasn’t hurried, so we had lots of time to chat between courses and just enjoy the experience. Oh and wine list was pretty good too!
Absolutely fantastic food and wonderful service. I had the tasting menu and every dish was amazing. They were also extremely accommodating with my dietary requirement. Would definitely come here again!
Wonderful dinner ! impeccable service, outstanding food (I had the beets, duck, and chocolate mousse) , this place is a rare gem. High quality ingredients and careful craft. Highly recommend
Great introduction to Irish cruise! Daniel looked after us and explained all the history of each dish. Lovely restaurant with parking in surrounding areas.
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch today as part of Amex experience. All the staff, from the sommelier to Giuseppe were incredibly attentive, warm and just delightful. It was a wonderful touch to hear Anna’s story behind every bite - educational and inspiring. You can feel, see and taste the amount of work, love and thought that is put into every meal. My favourite was beef with crispy polenta - it was so homey and comforting. Thank you for a delightful and cosy day. Looking forward to our next visit!
Amazing food, the service was exceptional. I must give a special thanks to Ian. In Myrtle you can truly taste the love and feel amazed by the details. Thank you!
We have had Myrtle on our list for quite a while but with the “loss” of most of 2020 into this year, at last we had our chance! We chose a lunch time, ahead our our trip home. Such a nice warm welcome on arrival. We were orientated around the tasting / a la carte and lunch specials. Such an incredible and imaginative menu bringing out the best of ingredients from Ireland. We opted for the tasting menu, with wine pairings. Too many highlights to mention! Fresh flavours and wonderful food. Enjoyed chatting to Ziggy and the other staff about the food and wine served and they even went to the effort to hand write the list of wines we’d had. Highly recommend for any occasion and we will be back very soon!!
Wow. Just chanced upon this place tonight after watching Belfast at the cinema. It was meant to be. It was serendipitous. Our waiter, Daniel, was fantastic and talked us through the menu and each dish as they arrived. Food was all very well presented and delicious. Great food and great service.
Wanted to go here for ages & it didn’t disappoint. Showcasing great Irish produce & fantastic wine pairings. Wish I could remember what some of them were. The front of house were exceptional & also got a chance to thank Chef Anna. Will definitely try something “inspired” by Chef when we open our bakery in Ireland later this year
Well what a great evening of food loved it had the tasting menu great choice . No rush from the staff 3 hrs of relaxed food to be honest the service was A+👏 thanks guys for a great experience Daniel your description of the courses was ACE ........ your a great part of the evenings food journey.....
World class, the sommelier and Beth were truly brilliant. The whole team made our lunch really special
My partner and I had a lovely meal here. We didn't do the tasting menu as I'm vegetarian but there was choice on the al a carte. The soda bread and butter was amazing. I started with the carrots and then the potato dish and my partner the duck then beef. We shared the chocolate mousse which was very good but the honeycomb was super sticky. Overall, it was delicious and with very friendly service. We sat downstairs and it had a great atmosphere.
Absolutely quality experience! The food was incredible and the service was first class! Daniel and Ash need a special mention, they went above and beyond! Highly recommended, especially for special occasions!
One of the best meals this year. Such delicious and comforting food. We were looked after by the staff and made to feel totally at home. We felt like we were transported to Ireland. The food was of the kind you would serve to family and friends, made with love. The food and staff, Anna, deserve a bigger and more prominent location in the city. I can't praise this enough. It was wonderful. I do hope we can eat here again. Bravo Myrtle team, amazing job.
Myrtle is a true five star restaurant. We ordered a la carte and from the starters up to desserts everything was exquisite! The service was really attentive and professional and the ambient sends vibes of a warm and refined place with rustic Celtic tones. Definitely going back for the tasting menu. Kudos to the whole team!
If you have only one night left in London, or even on Earth, entrust your evening to Myrtle; you will never forget it either. Chef Anna Haugh and her team have created an experience that combines all of the elegance, creativity, and finesse of the finest dining with the warmth and comfort of a good friend's home (if that home was gorgeous and thoughtfully appointed down to the smallest detail). We particularly enjoyed the smoked mackerel appetizer and the dingle pie, but really, every dish we ate stood out for its inventiveness, freshness, visual beauty, and execution (including our friend's sweetbreads and the green sauce on the lovely amuse bouche). The menu changes frequently, according to what's in season, so entrust yourself to the chef's taste and expertise (and let them know a couple days ahead of time if you'd like the tasting menu but need a dietary accommodation). It was particularly nice to have a savoury dessert available, of warmed bleu cheese with delicious chutney and soda bread crackers. We were thrilled to see that, on a Tuesday night just after the August bank holiday, Chef Anna herself was directing the kitchen. We've been following her work for years from far away in Vancouver, and were so grateful that she came upstairs to thank us and the other diners herself. We will never forget our evening there and wish you a similar experience.
We had such a lovely evening celebrating my husbands 50th birthday. The tasting menu was to die for… we had very full tummy’s and everything was delicious. Service was outstanding… such attention to detail and a relaxed atmosphere. We are absolutely committed to returning as often as possible.
My wife and I visited here on a Tuesday evening in Jan 26. There was only us and 1 other couple eating all evening. It is a small but well furnished, warm and clean restaurant. The service from Daniel all evening was polite, courteous, knowledgeable and informative, he talked us through all our courses and offered the option for alternatives if one of the 7 courses was not our liking. Both my wife and I selected the 7 course tasting menu, see details on menu picture. All 7 courses were tasty, well presented and plentiful. All in all we had a wonderful and gastronomic evening, the only 1 thing that would have completed the evening would have been to have met Anna Haugh. We both would like to return in the near future.
Truely exceptional experience. Firstly the hosts were lovely and explained each tasting menu course and happy to chat and have some banter (shout out to Sean). The food was divine. 8 immaculate courses of modern, Irish inspired food which were all exquisite in taste and looks. Cannot fault the place.
Myrtle is an absolute gem. They serve the best Guinness in London – perfectly poured and silky smooth. The oysters were fresh and briny, and the extraordinary carrot salad truly blew my mind with its flavor and creativity. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended!
We had such a wonderful time at Myrtle. Sean and Ian looked after us so well. Food and wine were delicious and the attention to detail was incredible! Delicious food, wonderful wine pairing and such a chilled and fun experience and atmosphere… you feel right at home! Highly recommend!! Well done Sean and Ian!! Maeve & Stephen
Exceptional experience, the best service I’ve ever seen in my life, absolutely lovely interior, wonderful food that accommodated my dietary restrictions! Only small things that I wasn’t a fan of were the drink I ordered and the loo, but absolutely one of my favourite London restaurants now!
Quite simply some of the best food we have ever eaten. We both opted for the taster of 7 courses plus we treated ourselves to some oysters. Each course was a culinary delight but out of all of them I loved the final course of chocolate mousse whilst my partners favourite was the steak. I apologise now as my simple words here do not give the dishes the elevation they truly deserve.......but trust me each dish was superb. The staff were wonderful from start to finish describing each dish as they were served. Truly NOM!
A fantastic dining experience! Delicious food, excellent wine pairings, and wonderfully friendly staff. Thank you, Daniel, for making us feel so welcome!
Unbelievable... the food is sensational, the combination of flavours trips across your tongue, and the way the food is prepared and plated is pure art. We had the taster menu, and every dish was moan-inducingly wonderful. Staff are brilliant, humour and 1st class service combined. My only carp is the wine list, which seems to be very marked up. But I'm coming back for the food, it's probably the best I've had in years.
Loved every dish on the tasting menu, there was nothing that wasn't delicious. The service was great, all the staff were warm, friendly and had a very sincere feel when talking to you. Love the touch of cards with a little history to go with courses and touches of Irish language. Had a great time, felt proudly Irish!
We spent one week in London and ate at different restaurants. It was so-so. Nothing exciting. Nothing exciting until we went to the Myrtle Restaurant. We choose it because my wife wanted to visit the Chelsea Stadium and we wanted to have lunch at a nearby restaurant. And, what a lunch! I don’t remember when I had a better meal than the one at the Myrtle. And the service? The best! Ian was courteous, fun, knowledgeable and very proud of his Irish heritage. He even convinced us that we need to visit Ireland during our next vacation. Overall, we love our experience there!
There was nothing pretentious, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing. The food was AMAZING! We had the 6 course taster menu, and each plate of food was a taste sensation. Ian and Dan were both warm, welcoming, and down to earth. My mum had a wonderful birthday, and she was made to feel very special. ❤️
Wonderful evening – would recommend! We came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday and had such a lovely experience. Our waitress, Beth (I believe that was her name), was fantastic- attentive, friendly, and made us feel really well looked after. The tasting menu was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced for the quality and variety of dishes. It was also a lovely touch that Anna Haugh came out to say hello —always nice to see the chef in person!
We do not advocate famous brands but focus on real skills. My wife and I had enjoyed an unforgettable birthday lunch yesterday! Beth ( we have known each other before) served our table friendly and professional. Please also convey our thanks and appreciation to both the service team and kitchen team as well. I do not like black puddings but I will eat the black pudding cooked by this restaurant and have an Irish coffee at the end!
The 7 course taster meal was perfection, the front of house staff were knowledgeable, friendly and made our evening. 1 member of our party is dairy intolerant and all the substitutions were great and they did not feel like they were missing out. We visited the bar next door and were welcomed with the same hospitality from Ian.
Went for Saturday lunch and was a lovely afternoon. Beth was lovely and made you feel very welcome and managed to make a bottle of wine feel like it was neverending with how it was poured! Will definitely be back again.
We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and went for the tasting menu and wine pairing. It was absolutely sensational. Delicious food, with beautiful wines, all explained by knowledgeable wait staff. Would recommend unreservedly.
I took a group of 16 customers, who we gather together on an annual basis, to Myrtle for dinner this week and it was exceptional. I’m far from a connoisseur to be able to do justice to the flavour and quality of the dishes that were served but there were others in the group who were still raving about them the following morning. The incredible food was matched by the wine list, the Guinness and the warmth of the welcome and attention from all of the staff - and especially Beth who looked after us so well. We have been fortunate to have dined in many excellent restaurants in London on an annual basis over a 10-year period. I would have no hesitation in choosing Myrtle as being the best experience so far.
Hadn’t been back to Myrtle for quite a while to our shame. We struggled to make a decision from the à la carte menu (Fomo), so we opted for 7 course tasting menu which was absolutely fantastic (start to finish) along with the wines that had been paired. Beautiful food presented beautifully and would highly recommend..
I wanted to love it but somehow the overall experience fell slightly short and not sure why! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, a couple of dishes were outstanding and truly memorable…. The poached smoked oyster and the boxty in particular, desserts were a slight let down but still good. The service was ok but not much more than that. Overall ambiance lacked, it was very quiet and none of the staff gave the impression of liking their job! Music coming up the stairs from the kitchen, it would be better if it was played in the restaurant itself and might help create atmosphere. No reasonably priced wines…. Why is this a thing with all fine dining restaurants, very frustrating. Overall though it was still a lovely special occasion meal and considering the quality of the food and location, the tasting menu is actually good value.
The food was very good - a really nice modern twist on Irish food. Everything was well thought out. The cutlery was from the midlands in Ireland, the puter water cups had depictions of various events in Irish history (e.g. Battle of the Boyne). Our waiters, Ian and Sean made the visit very memorable . They were full of stories and were really engaging.
Visited last night as Birthday meal. St Patrick Day tasting menu. Food absolutely stunning. Can not be faulted in any way. Delicious, fun, quirky. Slightly disappointed by seating arrangements, I got a great view but my husband was facing a wall looking at the air conditioning unit. This is an expensive restaurant and I'd expect a better view. Second disappointment was that the wine flight is not matched with each course and this is not mentioned on the menu nor were we told this. My husband mentioned this to our waiter who then became quite rude and aggressive. He then practically ignored us until we left. Overall, food lovely, let down by service. Shame when the bill was over £300 for 2 people.
Food was flawless, absolutely delicious. But for me, sadly, that didn’t compensate for the painfully slow service. We had the tasting menu and as I said, the food was incredible. I don’t often feel compelled to write reviews but felt tonight warranted it. The restaurant didn’t seem busy (it was a Tuesday evening) and yet we waited from 20 to 27 minutes between the first 5 of 8 courses that were each very small and took us a maximum of 5 minutes each to eat. I took photos of each plate as they arrived so I’m not exaggerating on the timings. We were both just hungry and got a bit fed up. After course 4 I did ask the waiter very politely if things could be sped up a little but not much changed and we waited almost 30 minutes for course 5. The desserts came faster but it seemed that was mainly because they could more easily have been pre-plated. Anna herself was there tonight so we were quite surprised at just how slow the meal was. I was a bit disappointed that after it had all taken so long, no money was removed from the bill. Perhaps I should’ve asked for service to be deducted but I didn’t really want to be that person, and they should’ve done the right thing and offered it as a gesture of goodwill. I’m afraid based on our experience this evening I wouldn’t return.
Thoroughly disappointed I’m afraid. Was really looking forward to going. Would urge anyone planning to go to read the several 3 star reviews before booking, they all echo the sentiment we had leaving there. Spent £200 a head on the tasting menu with pairings and left there very very hungry, the portions are TINY. The fourth course (the main, main) was a couple of slices of beef measuring 2 inch x 2 inch x 1/4 inch served with 9 (yes, 9…) kernels of corn. Chicken was exceptionally dry. First course was served on an upside down ramekin. Desert was jam on a spoon. The flavour combinations were nothing to write home about. Utterly dumbfounded. Our server was really lovely, and I feel really bad drawing attention to this because of that - there was a serious BO problem, perhaps had just cycled into work or something. Very unpleasant considering our heads are all armpit height when sat down. Venue itself was tired. I’m really trying hard for some redeeming qualities here and coming up trumps, it was nice that the menu was separated by regions of Ireland, that’s all I’ve got. I’m a resident of the area and in that location there are dozens and dozens of better options at a much lower price point, and at that price point, this restaurant doesn’t stand up at all.
