We had a delicious dinner tonight and felt perfectly safe. The service was great, the chips and salsa tasty, and everyone in our group of four enjoyed their food very much. The margaritas on the rocks were delicious too!
Always great service, good and awesome margaritas. Asked about a red drink in a small glass. Our waiter brought us each one. He called it "Mexican Candy" with a smile! As always we had plenty of leftovers to take him home.
Delicious. The service was great. Guacamole was freshly made at the table. Tried the menudo and enchiladas. Very cozy little restaurant. A bit dark but as you look around you will notice the cute decor. There is also a small bar off to the side.
1st time here for a family function. Staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. I ordered the enchiladas ranchera w/shredded beef. The sauce was very tasty, meat was tender and flavorful, beans and rice on the plate as well. Beans reminded me of Grandma's house. Salsa and chips were fresh, salsa had a little zing to it.
Always busy, great food, great atmosphere great music! I go for the pozole, in my opinion it's the best I've had! Chips and salsa are good as well! All the food I've tried has been yummy!
We showed up after having just left a stuffy restaurant because of rude service... Our hurt feelings and bad mood left trigger away. The smiling welcome was a balm to our hearts. We were seated immediately with delicious home made salsa and chips, got coffee, and menus before we could blink. The food was brought quickly and was superb. The loving friendly atmosphere could with excellent food rebuffed us why we love this place. Everything is top notch. They are a small family owned business so if you want to support a local business while eating the best mexican food this side of the border, then this place is for you:
The place is awesome! The food is great and very consistent. Large plates and great food. What more do you want. Staff is super friendly and they go over and beyond to make your visit a good one. A must try even if your not in the neighborhood. I live in redlands and it's very worth the drive.
Plenty of food per plate, price very reasonable, waitress polite & on top of refilling drinks.
Came here in a small group and we all loved it. Staff is awesome and I always enjoy supporting family businesses so it’s good to see how well they’re doing. I highly recommend the margaritas. Food is awesome, I had their Chile verde and was not disappointed.
Great service and excellent food.
The food was outstanding and the Cadillac Margarita off the charts! Awesome server Arlene, took great care of us. Can't wait to patronize El Perico Ranchero soon. Highly recommend this place.
Can't give enough compliments to El Perico. From the time we walked in the door till we left, everybody treated us like royalty. The food was absolutely fabulous. It was the first time here for my friend and she was so impressed she's bringing her family back. Absolutely every person working in your restaurant seemed very happy to be there. Ambience was super and the service was out of this world. Thank you
The food portions here are big, even a meal for one is big enough for two to share and still be full. Their Cadillac margaritas are delicious. I have never had a bad meal here yet and always get to take the extra food home for lunch the next day!
Excellent spot for Mexican food. Restaurant seems to be family owned and operated. They are friendly and helpful and make you feel at home. The food is great and everything I have ordered here has been very good. This will be my go to spot from now on. Give it a try!
Goodness!! This is hands down the Absolute very best place to have Mexican food!! We drive down here after church from the Beaumont area to enjoy some excellent eats. The rice and beans are above par. My wife gets the carnitas plate and I usually brouse the wet burritos. The portions are large and the price is very reasoable. The restaurant just had a recent update and it looks great. The service here is excellent and the food comes out very fast. You must give this place a try....It won't disappoint. Cheers!! GOD Bless!!
I love this place. We try to make it a weekly stop after work on Fridays. They have the best al pastor I have ever tried. Their service is really friendly and attentive. Food is usually served in fashionable timing. They also have few flat screen tv's throughout the restaurant and a full bar. ENJOY!!
Greeted with a smile and seated quickly. Like that there are banquet rooms and plenty of tables. Beer is cold, food is great. Jose made us feel like Familia.
Absolutely tasty food! Great atmosphere. The guacamole is very much worth getting!!! Made to order at your table, it was spicy and flavorful. I had the Shrimp Soup, it was amazing and a huge serving size. It also didn't skimp on the shrimp! I will be going back, next time I'm in town!
The food was so tasty and one plate can feed two people, prices very fair, service fast friendly,a must try, just AWSEME
When there for mothers day are daughter took us there, great food beans great carne sasda with egg rice 20 dollars plate. So good you would be disappoint.
Delicious food. Have had almost everything on the menu. Never disappointed. The watermelon shots are good. It's a family business they're all very nice. We get seated very quickly. Very friendly staff Arlene is usually our waitress she's a sweetheart.
We've been going here for years. I recently moved to a different state, but am looking forward to eating here again when I come down to visit. The food and service are amazing. The El Perico burrito is superb. I highly recommend. The chips and salsa are beyond amazing.
We have been coming here for over 10 years. The atmosphere is calm, clean and chill. There is plenty of room for large parties or perfect for date night. You can never go wrong with a margarita and chips and guacamole. The menu has a wide variety of options. You can not make a wrong choice. From Tacos, large wet burritos or a chicken tostada. I can eat it all 😊💯
Was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere. Wasn't expecting much based on the website pictures. The inside was very comfortable and what you'd expect to find in high-end Mexican restaurants. The food was excellent. I had a chile relleno and chile verde burrito. Chips & salsa were fresh and just spicy enough. Excellent service. Never needed anything as staff was on top of everything.
I love their chips and salsa, to begin. Very fresh, tasty. Margaritas truly are the bomb here; be careful as a large one will make you tipsy but happy! Many, many food choices, all I’ve enjoyed. The new redo on the inside, especially that cool bar, makes this place even more inviting. This place is a winner.
I called 5 local Mexican restaurants for tamales for Christmas and only El Perico could accommodate. I ordered 2 dozen and they were amazing! I got beef, chicken, and pork and all were filled with meat and were huge abd delicious. Their dinners are delicious, too. Wonderful service.
My friend and I went to lunch Sunday after church. Found a parking spot right in front. My friend had the two tacos plate an I had the Chile Verde plate. Both were excellent. This chili verde was best I ever had. The chips and salsa were also excellent. El Perico on Foothill near Grove is a hidden Gem. Go there!
Good food, good music and chip n salsa to go with it. Our waiter was nice, kept our drinks full. Also it feels nice and cool with good a/c thank you.
Love this restaurant! Servers are friendly and attentive. Food is delicious. My last visit they accommodated our party of 13 without any problems within half an hour. Granted it wasn’t quite dinner rush yet, but we appreciated it.
Great Mexican food restaurant. They do table side guacamole, which is super yummy and fresh! They have a huge Cadillac margarita, which is always a good time. The service is what truly sets them apart. They have great staff they are friendly, helpful, and attentive.
El Perico has been a go to place for Mexican food for over 10 years. Their food is fresh and tasty. They have great Cadillac Margaritas too. Because we've been going for years, and there hasn't been much turnover in staff, they know us and treat us well. My favorite dish is the "Camarones El Perico" which is Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. The restaurant isn't very large so sometimes the wait can be a little longer than expected, but it's worth the wait. They did extend the front bar area to allow for drinks before dinner. Overall, this place is a nice little gem.
My favorite dine-in Mexican restaurant for the last 8 or 9 years. Hubby always gets the same plate, which is machaca . They serve fresh salsa and chips while you wait. The beans and rice are excellent, as well as table side guacamole. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious.
I thought it was going to be a small sit-down restaurant, but once you're inside it's a pretty big place. Which was great as we had a big party for a bday dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great! They also sinh you HB upon your request.
Went to el perico to have dinner today. Group of eight. great service good food reasonable price great family environment and Mexican music playing not too loud. The molcajete guacamole made at your table is the Bomb. Excellent service from waiter Rayo. We are definitely coming back to this place.
I have dined here multiple times and I am always impressed. The service is always top notch and very attentive. The food is very consistent & flavorful, with gracious servings. The Cadillac margaritas are generous and smooth. My favorite and most recommended dish is definitely the carnitas.
This is our favorite Mexican restaurant! My husband and I come here all the time (for 15+ years), with our friends and /or kids as well—the food is always hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Their Cadillac margaritas are the best, and chili rellenos are so delicious. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is always clean and cozy.. We always leave full and happy.. this place never disappoints.
All staff very friendly great service they make you feel like family
I used to live in Upland as a kid and would come here all the time with my family. I remember thinking that the margaritas look so good! Now that I was able to come back and visit much older, I can confirm that the margaritas are AMAZING! The food is just as good as I remember. I got a plate with an enchilada and a shredded beef taco and have never devoured food so fast in my life. Until next time, El Perico! I miss you guys every day!
Great food. Great employees, serene and wonderful atmosphere.
Great service and massive plates of food. Get ready for leftovers.
It is one of the best restaurants in town. I grew up out here, and I've been around town a bit. I missed when they opened as I was living in Las Vegas, but I am familiar with the family going to school and seeing them at various school things. Bottomline, food amazing, atmosphere is cute and classic throwback without being too much and overly cluttered. Staff and service are the best. They care about the people and they enjoy what they do. I've had the Taco's both styles. They have a classic street style (cilantro and onions) and a classic hardshell style (cheese, lettuce, tomato). Enchilada, Chile relleno, beens and rice. All delicious. No complaints. I spend about $40 for myself when I go. I get a signature margarita and a combo plate, and the tip. Most dishes are $10 to $16, and I believe the margarita is $16. I never pay attention. Lol the employees and guests are all pleasant. I enjoy going here once a week whenever I am in town.
Waitress very knowledgeable about food, menu and liquids. We were seated right away for a table of 8. Our drink orders taken right away and served also right away. When our party was ready to order it was taken accurately. The order was served in a short period of time and accurately. Every one expressed how good the food was. I had the fried fish I enjoyed it as I don't have very often. I would have liked with a little seasoning but still enjoyed it. Thank you to our waitress and the staff. This dinner was a gift to our family and hope there was a nice tio.
The prices are usual prices of restaurant served foods. The atmosphere festive, dress is casual. The waiters are prompt, service is excellent. Place is clean, food is good and large portions.
Really needed chilaquiles on this Wednesday morning. So I make sure I was there when they opened at 10 AM. “Kayla” , The only server this morning greeted us with a smile. She was working alone tending to the bar, greeting people and seeing them as they came in, serving the food and cashiering all at the same time! Excellent service. Loving the salsa by the way. So fresh and authentic,
I came here since I was in the area and was craving Mexican food. I saw that they had mole on the menu which I have been wanting to try. Their menu has a large selection. Seating area is large and darkly lit. The guy who took my order was attentive and quickly gave me a free chip and salsa with my water. The mole is a good portion and seasoned nicely. The red rice and refried beans were seasoned nicely. The chicken was moist and the mole had a good flavor balance of sweet, salty, and slightly spicy. The staff is nice and the place is clean.
I have been to so many Mexican restaurants in my life I didn't know what to order so I asked the waitress to surprise me she brought something called moteca I don't know how to spell it but it was huge and awesome and worth every penny
The Chile Relleno was outstanding! My brother had the Pozole, and he said it's top notch! We will come back!
This is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. I have three favorite dishes. That’ll Perico Burrito, the steak Picado, And the beef soup. The chips and salsa are absolutely amazing. You cannot go wrong with any margarita here. The service is perfect along with the atmosphere. This is my go to restaurant.
Would like to thank El Perico, our waitress Kaela and the whole of the service and kitchen staff for hosting our impromptu post funeral Mass lunch yesterday. What was originally supposed to be a one table/one family affair turned up being a back room 25-30 people lunch. Through out it all, the wait staff were professional, calm & engaging. The food was hot, the drinks refilled and the mood was warm. Thank you El Perico. I will make sure to have one meal at your fine establishment whenever I visit my hometown.
This place is awesome Generous portions one plate can easily feed 2 people. The Carnitas is the best I have ever had. Posole and Menudo are also very good. Highly recommend El Perico Ranchero. Prices are fair considering the amount of food per plate.
My friends and I dined at El Perico Ranchero in Upland last night. I ordered the Steak Ranchero. It was very flavorful. I was surprised by how much food that I had on my plate for such a reasonable price. I was quite full when I was done. I've had this dish at the Rancho Cucamonga location multiple times. It's a little different there. One probably isn't necessarily better than the other... they're just... a little different. The rice and beans were good too. Other dishes ordered included a chili relleno / taco combo plate and a couple of orders of what I believe is called Milanesa (it looked like chicken fried steak). Everyone else seemed to enjoy what they had as well. The chips were awesome. The corn torillas were great too. My one "complaint" was that the salsa was a bit on the bland side. Perhaps it was an off night, but I like the salsa at the Rancho Cucamonga location better. It's more "tomato-y" there. The service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and very attentive, especially our server. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I would not hesitate to go back.
No frills, amazing homey vibes, authentic delicious Mexican food. When that food is so fresh, piping hot, flavorful, juicy, tender, and delicious…you can’t beat that feeling of joy and comfort. Hits the spot everytime! This little hole-in-the-wall is one of the best out there! I love their Steak Picado, Carnitas, Spicy Margarita, and Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo. Their margaritas are a good size and taste just right. This place will soothe your craving and soul…feels like Mexiacn Soul food.
I’ve lived in Upland most of my entire life and just ran into this Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is very authentically decorated as a Mexican restaurant. The menu is like many other nice Mexican restaurants. I went with the chili verde burrito. It comes wet with melted cheese on top and a side of guacamole and sour cream. You can order this burrito as a meal, including the typical rice and beans. I went with just the entrée. Very good; not the very best I’ve ever had. Maybe a little light on the quality of chunks of pork, but the flavor was there. It was $16 and the portion was well worth the price. It was a huge burrito. This is a place I will come back to when I want to take a group of people out to a Mexican restaurant in my area. The waitress was very friendly, and the background music was pleasant to listen to while taking these photos with my iPhone 13, the only camera I had with me today.
The salsa is a little watery, but the flavor is very good. The guacamole was prepared at the table so it was perfectly fresh, but lacked citrus and salt. The chicken enchiladas were make with red sauce (not my preference) but we're lacking. Not up to scratch for the $15 price of admission. Rice and beans were a mixed bag: the rice was just average but the beans were slightly better. Neither were anything about which to write home. Service was on target. Will I go again? I honestly don't know. The ambiance reminds me a bit of Don Jose's in Montclair, which I liked before it was renamed. If I go again, I'll try their chicken fajitas. It's a bit pricey, honestly, for the flavors. I'll give it a 4/5 because enchiladas tend to be garbage at restaurants and I should've known better. If they nail the chicken fajitas (assuming I do give them another shot), I'll uphold this rating and comment accordingly.
I am a big frijolera! Every Mexican restaurant I go to I have to try the beans & hope they taste authentic. I have to say these are the best beans in my area. Chips & salsa were good. I also had the enchiladas suizas & they were ok. I probably wouldn't order them next time I go. Chicken mole with rice was good too. Overall great restaurant & food.
The food here was great, always hot, it taste authentic, and delicious. I have recommended this place for authentic Mexican food and I have also brought friends that agree with the flavors. The atmosphere is classic Mexican restaurant, the staff is always friendly and eager to please. 👍
Good food, been here a few times, has been good. This last time we got seated and floor was really dirty where we were seated, we got chips, warm and great but salsa wasn't as good as before, tasted like tomatoes went bad. Got our food quick and use the chips for the meal. Server was good kept our drinks topped off. It was the just the few issues that would have given a 5. Maybe the next time.
We do not judge a place by the decor, but by the food and service, and we have never had a bad meal here. Food is great, margaritas are also good. The service is usually good with an occasional not so good. For the past 5-6 years we have been coming here, then we try somewhere else for comparison, thinking we will find something better, and we are still looking. The tortilla soup is the best around
We ordered the Chile Colrado, 2 taquitos and enchilada plate and the freshly made Perico guacamole. In both dishes, the meat was tender and favorable. The cheese enchilada was very big and very good. The plates were very big and plentiful. I gave 4 stars for the food because the salsa that comes with the chips was very runny, but it still had good flavor. I just prefer a thicker salsa and that's just nitpicking. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Multiple staff came around to ask if we needed anything. The atmosphere was festive with banda music playing overhead. There was plenty of space and wasn't crowded around the 4 o'clock timeframe. The crowd started coming in around 5. I definitely would come back again and recommend it to anyone.
Went to dinner here a couple of nights ago. I ordered the carne asada. It was flavorful and cooked to perfection! The rice and beans were delicious as well. The two other ladies that I was with both enjoyed their meals also. We all agreed this was the first time in a long time that we not only got everything we ordered (no mistakes), everything was delicious and the service was awesome. The only minor complaint is that we ordered the flan for dessert and it was a little overcooked. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. We will definitely be going back!
I forgot to take pictures, but i ordered the crispy taco combo, and my mom ordered 1 carne asada taco. First, I'll say the rice was good, but a bit salty. The refried beams were pretty good. My crispy tacos were full of meat, and we're delicious. My complaint is that the tortilla is very thin, so it's not very crispy. Unfortunately, my mom's ala cart taco was not good. It wasn't really what I consider carne asada, meaning, ranchers, skirt or flap meat. It seems like it was boiled or steamed meat, so it was tough and a strange consistency. The service was great. The atmosphere was quirky and fun. Big parrots, not real, hung everywhere. Porcelain Mexican dolls, super pretty, on the walls. It's a place I'd love to hang out with my girlfriends and ja e margaritas.
Great food. My fried taco was HUGE. I got the combination plate. Chile Relleno, Cheese enchilada, and the "Huge Taco". It also came with rice & beans, all fantastic. And this place has a full bar.
The food was good, and the price was not bad. Service was a little questionable. We waited more than 15 min to order. Then, getting refills on chips, salsa, and drinks was also a waiting game. Otherwise, nice place. They definitely need to definitely expand their restrooms, they seem very small for a place of this size and capacity.
Not real Mexican food, a bit washed down, most plates come with "yellow cheese", FYI, real Mexican food is not served with American cheese... The food was okay, the service was outstanding and the place was very busy... I probably won't be coming back, I should try other Mexican restaurants, hopefully those are more authentic... Thank you for reading my review.
One of our favorite places to get some good Mexican food and drink. The Cadillac is where its at and I could drink theirs every single day. Also the table side guacamole is a cool touch and super delicious. Overall the food is good - above average, but the Cadillac keeps us coming back.
We went because we heard the margaritas were really good. "Only need one". That is true. We thought they had Happy Hour. That's not true. The margarita was very tasty and true, you only need one and make sure you have a designated driver who doesn't drink! We ordered the appetizer combo platter. The quesadillas were missing from the plate. The fresh guacamole was very good. The service was fairly quick.
It is fine. Service is pleasant. The environment is inviting for dining even with all the television screens. But the food is meh. The chips are bland, the salsa is soupy and the vegetables are old or cheap. The refried beans, which are tasty at the better restaurants, is bland. In short, the food isn't bad, it is just the case there are better options, including Elvira's which is less than a mile to the west. (However, El Perico does have a full bar license, which Elvira does not. For much of the clientele, the full bar is a necessity. ) The coffee is surprising good, better than some "fancy" breakfast places in the area. Recommendation - try both here and Elvira's and choose which best suits your desires.
Tried this place for the first time. Service was good but, the food was cold and salty. And not just my food but, everyone in our party! There were 23 of us and everyone was saying their food was salty. Drinks were very good; especially the margaritas!
Another restaurant that seems they cater more to white folks. Not Mexican enough for me.
I've been to this location about 5 times and their Rancho location once. The food is good. The service is okay, depending on you who you get. My biggest complaint is the prices and the lack of customer service? I don't even know what to call it. There's been two instances where my meal or drink was upgraded without being asked, tacking on an extra $10-$15 on the check. And with their sodas being FIVE DOLLARS, every dollar counts. I recently went for fajitas and I needed more tortillas and was charged $3. If they were made in-house, fine, but for the most basic corn tortilla? I would have at least appreciate being told it was extra. I was really excited when I first found this place but I probably won't be back because of the prices and underhanded ways.
Not terrific. Extremely loud. Got a headache from being there.
My wife was craving menudo, so we decided to try El Perico Ranchero for our first time. Menudo was good and my wife's craving was satisfied. I ordered nopales, rice, and beans. The nopales were a little too salty. Rice and beans were good and I was served good portion. Service was good but was a little too dim in the dining area for me.
The evening started off great . The staff was real friendly and quick about getting things we ordered. The only down fall was, I found a cockroach in either my beans or rice . I believe it was the rice. Giving a 3 star based off the customer service I received prior to this experience. Was not charged and me and my family left
Moved to this part of town 2 years ago. My first few times going here the food was real good. But recently it seems like the quality of the food has gone down big time. And what's with the $5 sodas that just way too expensive for soda
Went to this restaurant for the first time on 8/27 for a families birthday lunch. Food was decent and the service was ok. Had to ask for utensils multiple times and was disgusted once I seen roaches crawling on the walls in the back room. For being the first time here I’ll never come back, when we alerted the staff the acted like it was a normal thing.
This place has 4.9 stars but not sure how(by the way we only went for that reason) We ordered the chili relleno which was some how cold (the inside of the burrito was cold). The beans on the nacho tasted old and dried. The service was disappointing and the server only checked on us a total of 3 times throughout our time, that included the time he took our drinks and food order. HOWEVER! The margarita and Pina colada were delicious. 5 star is for the bartender. 👏🍹
This was my family’s favorite 💔 we never mind driving in hour to Tapatias love bringing my family. I always order a plain cheese burger 🍔 for my kid. Unfortunately Not on Sunday July 13 Cashier and server told me they don’t serve plain burgers so unsatisfied after that day. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
I was there this morning the service was not great, very mediocre the coffee wasn’t hot, we got a sopa de tortillas it was okay, I got the chilaquiles plate with the carne the meat was over cooked couldn’t eating the chilaquiles were okay not good and my eggs I asked for them cooked well and the were cooked over easy the best thing on my plate were the rice and beans. Maybe I went on a bad day.
Idk if they even care about food restrictions or they just don’t like black women? I asked for several burritos with no onions, for food restrictions and kid preference. Out of the seven I ordered only 1 came as requested. The best part was finding a piece of paper in my burrito. If I wasn’t dying of hunger I wouldn’t have ate this and asked for my money back. Food was also mid. 10/10 don’t recommend
I don’t really like to eat at Mexican food restaurants very rarely do I eat out but my husband loves Mexican soups “CALDOS” de res de pollo vegetables etc. Well, today I went to this place the first time I purchase any food from this place and well it was a nasty dissatisfaction Whatever they gave me they cooked two days ago probably froze it put it in the microwave and sold it to me $17 for soup for nasty rubbery vegetables. You can smell the rice how old it is. It was dangerous to even allow him to eat any. The meat has a gray greenish color
