We love Lotus Garden... Their food taste authentic and the amount of meat/shrimp they put is always good for the price! Our family favorite Pad Thai Ramen Noodle Soup Massaman Curry (spicy) Lotus Shrimp Sushi is great too and I love their slightly more soaked in the vinegar rice.
The most Awesome experience my wife and I have experienced in a very long time... after 11 years of marriage and 3 Children later (5 year old, 8 year old and a 10 year old) had gotten a night out, finally without them....Sam and his wonderful wife run an AMAZING dining experience while guiding you through the menu and explaining every question to perfection. Thank you both for the wonderful experience. Doug and Raisa Yasenovsky
Hidden gem of a place. Great food, great drink selection. Great atmosphere. Reasonably priced and really great service. Lots of reasons to check them out.
Love the food here. Sam (the owner and cook) is awesome. My favorite dish is the Choo Che and I tend to order that over and over again but my wife is always trying new stuff and is always happy.
I don't live in town, but whenever in town I must come here. The Lotus make fresh and absolutely delicious food. Some restaurants makes good food sometimes, but here I ALWAYS getting the best. Super recommended.
Food was fresh and delish, calamari, spider sushi and bulgogi(beef).....Only two staff visible a waitress/hostess and bartender...both dining rooms packed and service was efficient and excellent, a short wait after our reservation time but worth every minute..highly recommend...great job CJ
Love the Lotus Garden! Got the sweet lotus shrimp and the spicy siem reap noodles with chicken. They even have outdoor seating
Simply a great place to go. A friend had their wedding here, plus this is my third time in the last week. Great food, service, atmosphere, and price. What more can you ask for?
The best dinner we've had in a long time! So much flavor and attention to detail. If you haven't already, check them out! Our new favorite spot!
Had an awesome experience here! The food and atmosphere was wonderful. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning in the future! Their signature Sweet Lotus Chicken and Dynamite sushi roll is AMAZING!
Haven't been disappointed yet. So delicious. Eat here every time we come to town.
Great food, but glad we ordered ahead as it took longer than usual to get prepared. Was given an estimated pick up time of a half hour to forty minutes after my call. Got there late (fifty minutes after my call), but still had to wait another ten. The staff was very nice and apologetic.
What an adorable place! And the food was delicious! Service was amazing even though it was packed.
One of my all time favorite restaurants! Love the people, love the food, and love the setting. Ask them for vegan friendly menu options and they will walk you through the many delicious selections available!
Hidden gem in Utica. My mother and I were exhausted and starving after a long day of driving around with our dogs. Honestly, we sorta chose this place out of desperation and also because they had a sufficient patio for our large pack (3 dogs). Maybe it was the low expectations combined with extreme need, but both food and service blew us away. We ordered two sushi rolls (one was a spicy tuna with crunchy stuff and I think hers was a regular tuna) to start. It was fresh, made with care and really just as good as any I've had elsewhere. Then she had some type of shrimp lo mein and I had the beef bugogi. Both dishes were just terrific. Both proprietors were serving us and hanging out and they were very kind and personable. Really glad I came here. It's funky, to be sure, which matches the town (no offense). However, food and service would hold up anywhere.
If you are thinking about going just do it! What a meal!
Absolutely amazing Thai, Cambodian, and Vietnamese cuisine! Nearly everything is gluten-free also, which is helpful for many. Every dish is purchased and prepared by hand by the owner. Friendly service, beautiful atmosphere. Tasteful presentation (pun intended), authentic and delicious food, absolutely a great value.
My shrimp dinner very good. My wife’s chicken dinner was a bit off from usual. Daughters dinners were very good. The sushi platters were excellent.
Excellent food and excellent service by our server, Taylor. I had Amok which is white fish in a sauce of coconut milk, curry, and wonderful spices! My husband had Mongolian beef and it was excellent! Taylor was a breath of fresh air! Thank you!
Awesome, authentic Cambodian and Thai food. Really tasty and reasonably priced. Our meals were around $19 each, with sizable portions. Try the chef's specials for a signature dish or two. Will be back!
Wonderful restaurant. Great food and service! Cook even came out from kitchen to assure all was well! Will definitely eat there again!
First visit, and we will definitely become regular customers. Food was great, service amazing, and the prices are more than fair. Enjoy !!
Great food at a Great price ! The staff goes the extra mile to make sure you are completely satisfied. Highly recommend !
Great food and service! Looking forward to the next visit. Had sushi and veggie delight.
Food was amazing, service was great, prices were very reasonable! Large portions!
Had the “monster roll” which is huge and worth it. Came on a wooden boat serving dish with pressed wasabi shapes. Nice presentation but I’m all about taste. This thing had it all and was spectacular. Wasn’t sure about getting sushi in land-locked Utica but my gamble paid off. And they have Allagash white beer on tap; one of my favorites. I’m a big eater so I also ordered a dragon roll for dessert. Very good, but no comparison to the monster roll.
This restaurant is a hidden gem off of the main road in Utica, NY. The family is from Providence, RI and so am I, so automatically, the service and atmosphere gets a perfect rating from me!! The food is always delicious and consistent. The service is always top notch. The last time I came was three years ago and the only thing that was bad was my date. She was miserable. This place is the diamond in the rough!! Thank you for being the best restaurant in Upstate NY!!!!
The food and our server was excellent...We truly enjoyed our dinner at this Thai restaurant....Gluten Free options on the menu also which was a major plus!! I had the "Tokyo" sushi rolls and they were Delicious....so was the fried rice and the portions were good size too.
I have been to dine in once, had takeout once, and was at an event catered by them. Everything, every single time has been outstanding. Some of the best specialty rolls in the city, and great hot dishes as well. I promise…
Sushi was fantastic. The bartender was very helpful and knew her stuff.
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. The flavor, the seasonings, it just comes together perfectly. The glass noodle and drunken noodle are really good!
Amazing way to try Cambodian food for the first time. Well balanced and very flavorful, you can taste the passion in the food. Exciting and comforting at the same time. Definitely going to go back. I also like how they kept key features of the historical building and blended it with Cambodian art. The piano room was my favorite space. Had the Amok will try other dishes next time!
When we got there I wasn't expecting much.. Building was being renovated and it looked a bit run down... But once the food got there, holy cow.. The sweet lotus dish was absolutely indescribably amazing.. Such a unique flavor... Great vegetable tempura as well!!
My daughter & I just shared the Drunken Noodles, Dynamite and California rolls and it was beyond delicious. Utica is lucky to have such a great (authentic) Asian Restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
This restaurant was fantastic! The food was splendid, the service was great, and the experience was lovely. The atmosphere is so pleasant, and the staff did whatever they could to make our party of 7 comfortable. We had a great experience and the prices were incredibly reasonable given the amount of food we ordered. We'll definitely be going back!
Everything on the menu surprises me with awsome flavor. From the sushi that looks like artwork and tastes better, to more traditional dishes such as sesame chicken with a spin. This is one of the only restaurants that I will literally eat any dish served. Great relaxing atmosphere with outdoor seating available. The bar has quite a good selection .I approve 👌! This has became one of my new favorites pretty quickly. Keep up the good cooking chef.
Food was excellent. Staff were busy but friendly. Tom Kha soup was fantastic! They do not have traditional sushi rolls, but have a wide assortment of fancy rolls, including a number of tempura rolls. Teas were also very good. The Thai tea is practically a dessert (hot or iced). Thai, Cambodian and Laotian specialties like amok, larb, Khmer curry, all delicious. Ramen is two meals so plan to bring some home. They charge a 3% fee for credit cards, which is the same as many/most restaurants these days. Prices are fair, expect to pay $20-30 per person. Parking can be difficult but a new lot is being built nearby, so that's a temporary problem. One note: they put tip suggestions on the bill, but they base this off of the total after the CC fee and tax are added rather than the actual dinner price. Service may well be worth a few extra bucks, but this seems sneaky. Still, I would highly recommend them. Their flavors hit all the right notes.
Lotus Garden is Excellent!!! I had the green Thai curry last week and kept thinking about it all week until I could come back and get it again today. I also had the veggie tempura and it was stellar. I love the use of sweet potatoes in both dishes. The sauces are rich and flavorful, the vegetables are fresh and well selected. I will 100% be coming here again next time I am in Utica.
What a lovely place to have Asian fusion. From Bang bang shrimp, sushi & bulgogi rice bowl. Everything was delicious and will definitely head over again before we leave. 😋 Vanny was a great host/server. Very sweet.
Went with a large group. The servers were so friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious and the serving sizes were more than adequate! The thai tea was delicious and the sushi was really good! So many dishes to choose from can't wait to come back and try some more! They were great about changes to the dishes to appease kids and adults who've had dishes made differently elsewhere.
Best restaurant in Utica for sure. And its extremely fairly priced. Being from Queens, NY I've eaten in some of the most respected Asian restaurants and this is the most interesting and best I've ever had. I did not expect to move to Utica and find my favorite restaurant but i did. The titular Lotus Shrimp is wildly wildly good which you wouldn't expect for a dish which is basically shrimp with a sauce. Don't expect to get your normal Chinese food. Go here to pick anything on the menu, try something and have a new and delicious experience cooked to perfection. You will not regret it. Other recommended dishes Amok, Pad Thai, Drunk Noodles, Tako Yaki, Fried Zucchini blossoms (when in season), Spicy Chenda Roll. Thank you lotus garden family. Ya'll are truly a gift. edit: Also after reading other reviews just have to say the staff has been nothing but a joy in the 4 years we've eaten here. Sometimes they are busy. We hope they are always busy so they are always there for us to enjoy. THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT THE PEOPLE ARE EXCELLENT! go eat it and thank me later. thanks again lg <3
HIGHLY recommend! Show night at the Stanley so they had a limited menu but there was still a wide arrangement of choices. The service was outstanding, attentive but not too much, polite and got things out quick. The food was delicious, cooked just right and great presentation. Got the Mongolian beef and Peekin dumplings, a great light meal for 2 to split. For dessert got the fried ice cream and I'm hooked! They also have a full bar. Small place so there isn't a ton of seating but it makes it a much quieter more private dining experience. I can't wait to go back!
I love the welcome vibe of this joint it has Incredible food and a great atmosphere. Love this place! They're so accommodating and polite. They pour great drink and the sushi is to die for. I highly recommend. Tell em Derek sent you.
One of my favorite restaurants. Tasty menu of Asian rice or noodle meals. Had dinner outside on the patio on a warm summer night. It was perfect. Located right behind the Stanley Theater, which makes it convenient to grab a bite before or after a show. Selection of wine and drinks was wide. Sushi menu also offers a nice variety. I've always had great service too. Highly recommend.
I don’t live in Utica, we come home every summer to visit the family. I have to say I’ve been more and more disappointed with how businesses & restaurants operate here and how the quality of food in this town has diminished. Well, not here, Lotus is phenomenal, authentic, very good quality food. Very friendly and exceptional customer service as well. Zucchini flowers are a must try! We’re on our third visit here to eat and we will definitely be returning. 5 stars all the way!
As always, we had a wonderful time. Impeccable service in a beautiful and interesting setting but THE FOOD! OMG! You must try to believe. Our favorite when we're in town for sure!
Great food, nice atmosphere too! Service was top notch and it felt like I’d get help with any question and accommodation too!
We stumbled onto this place after our son's hockey tournament. What a great find! Linda was very friendly, the atmosphere is unique and the food is superb. Definitely try their iced tea! Philly sushi roll and Pad Thai were really good. We will be back.
Great place and awesome food. Stopped in for some bulgogi, chicken Thai curry and some sushi rolls. Everything was fantastic, and the only problem I had was I kept eating until my stomach hurt. Then I ate more. Portion sizes are great, and the drinks were tasty. Friendly servers and fantastic owner.
Great food with an inviting atmosphere. I had for the 1st time, Thai shrimp fried rice and a speciality roll made with salmon. Both were incredibly fresh and tasty. I ordered pickup, when I arrived the hostess greeted me with a smile on her face. I waited less than 2 min for the entire transaction. 10/10, I recommend
Went for first time on Friday night before show at Stanley Theater. We sat outside. Wasn't super busy. Just ordered bev + dinner. Very slow service outside.. rarely saw staff. Drinks came after 10+ mins (no glass w/ canned bev but was requested). Dinner came about 30 mins later (and the glass was finally offered.. after bev was consumed 😆). Food was fab. We had med Thai w/chicken & it was still hot! And, we had sweet lotus w/chicken, which was AMAZING (highly recommend!). Just give yourself about 90 mins to eat a simple dinner (maybe eating inside is faster service).
Absolutely phenomenal experience at Lotus Garden—a true gem! From the moment we walked in, we were treated to impeccable service that struck the perfect balance between warm hospitality and professional attentiveness. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was a work of art—beautifully plated, vibrant, and bursting with flavor. The menu showcases an incredible range of dishes, each prepared with clear attention to detail and quality ingredients. Whether you’re trying their signature mains or indulging in appetizers and desserts, every bite feels like a thoughtful, flavorful journey. Lotus Garden isn't just a place to eat—it's a full sensory experience. Full marks across the board for food, presentation, and service. Highly recommend, and can’t wait to return!
I’m no expert when it comes to Thai/SE Asian food, but I know what quality food looks and tastes like, so its origin doesn’t really matter, right? Anyway, the food…the panko batter on the bang bang shrimp is super crunchy, which I liked. The Pad Thai was delicious. I ordered it spicy and it was perfect. No complaints with the service either. The ambience was PSA…brush up on your chopstick skills if you’re rusty because they don’t give you a fork unless you ask. Speaking of which, I had an epiphany about the use of chopsticks and its correlation to the portion size of the Pad Thai. Number 1, if you use a fork to eat their Pad Thai, it’d be gone in a few minutes, but, if you use chopsticks instead, you eat more slowly, which naturally prolongs the meal and is probably better for digestion overall. Idk the whole thing just took me down a rabbit hole about how using chopsticks changes the whole dynamic of how you consume food in a way that I never thought of before. Almost to the point where it makes me think we should be using chopsticks to eat all kinds of food. That will never happen, but it probably should.
Lotus Garden was a hit! We had never eaten in Utica before and saw this came recommended and it didn’t disappoint! From the Thai iced tea to the bang bang shrimp to the Beef lo mein, everything was great! Prices were more than fair too. The service was also above average; We will definitely be back!
Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and portions were generous. Prices were very good for our weekend lunch. Drawback was the restaurant's air conditioning was set too cold.
Lot of good options from all of Asia. Beef Bulgogi and the curry with a nice spice level were both very good. Live music in the evenings.
They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food is good but I really didn't like their service. They gave us the wrong order and took too long to give us the bill. I'm hoping to try out dining here again soon to see if it was just a bad day for the staff.
Decided to eat at Lotus Garden tonight once more before I move away from Utica in a week. The Curry was absolutely amazing, chicken wasn't under or overcooked, and the veggies held the robust sauce flavors perfectly! However, I had to take away a star due to the wait time for one dish and an entree. I understand it's busy lately and like most places lately, they might be understaffed, but I waited 30 mins after arriving for my takeout order in addition to the 35-40 mins the server said on the phone... It looked like it was winding down when I arrived and took 10-15 mins to make a masaman curry when I worked in a Thai restaurant previously, so I was a bit confused about the excessive wait time. It was a mild frustration for me but I didn't have much going on so I didn't mind too much. Though, being a socially anxious person and having a phone that died made waiting extra very intimidating, but thankfully one of male servers/bartender (I forgot to ask for his name!) made my waiting exp much more enjoyable. He offered me water and friendly discussion! He even gave me some life advice! The other servers chatted a little with me too, and everyone was genuine and kind, but that one employee made my feelings while waiting go from awkward and quiet to comfortable and safe, which is a rare skill to have, so props to you sir & thank you again.
We weren't sure it was open on a Monday for lunch but it was and the food choices were excellent. And the meals were also excellent. Very quiet place on Monday, eclectic SE Asian cuisine tastefully done. A good find
Excellent service and atmosphere. They were extremely busy that night but still for me seated and served within 20 min. Pad Thai wasn't nearly as spicy as I would've liked but the noodles were cooked perfectly and sauce was delicious.
Bang bang shrimp and the sweet lotus with chicken were amazing. The shrimp were massive, cooked perfectly, and tasted great. The sweet lotus was the favorite for all of us though. The sauce is incredible (nutty, little sweet and a little heat). Pad thai was okay, but was quickly forgotten once everyone tasted the lotus. We also got the Peking ravioli (dumplings) which we ordered pan fried, but they came steamed. The dough was very very thick and there wasn't much filling. The dipping sauce was a slightly sweet soy sauce and was just okay. I wouldn't order them again. We ordered a Woke Up Like This roll and it was okay. It needed more eel sauce and I wish they were slightly smaller pieces as it was very hard to eat. Finally we ordered the thai tea, but it was lacking flavor and tasted watered down. We will definitely come back for the lotus and bang bang shrimp though.
I dined at Lotus Garden alone as I am in Utica on business. The only reason they did not receive 5 stars was service related. Here is the breakdown: I had first had the Peking dumpling app (pork filled with sweet soy sauce). They were delicious. My entree was chicken Lo mein, and it was full of flavor and really well balanced. I enjoyed it. I also tried California roll. In comparison to some of my local sushi restaurants, it was probably a bit below...the cucumber was not as crisp as I would expect. Personally, my service was fine. But I sat at the bar alone. I observed another guest come and try and find waitress and he complained about poor service to me while I was there. Another local came in and was clearly irritated that his take out order was taking so long. He told me “the food here is excellent, and worth the wait, but the service is consistently slow.” Overall, I would dine there again.
The atmosphere was nice. The seating wasn't what I expected. The table had one chair then the wall area there's this long seating like a bench. I didn't care to be sitting so close to the next patron. I ordered the lobster roll and the presentation as well as the taste was wonderful. I plan on returning but not looking forward to the seating. First time visiting with my grandaughter. She had Copperhead sushi and fried ice cream. I had Lobster Roll both were Awsome. Seating was a table for the two of us 👏👏👏👏👏 will return soon Will of Allah
Mixed bag. Have been here twice and each time the party we’ve been with has had a couple satisfied members and a couple disappointed. Service is all over the place—have waited a long time to get a seat, a long time to order, with no one checking in.
The Thai food here specifically the drunken noodles and pad Thai were not good at all. Very dry, no flavor, and just not good in general. I know Thai food doesn’t seem like their speciality but it probably shouldn’t be on the menu, it is not good!
I absolutely loved the food, however the service was kind of lacking. The waitress wasn't very attentive, we waited probably 45+ minutes for our food to come out to us. Which would be understandable if they were busy, but we were three of seven people in the whole restaurant. It should not have taken that long for our food.
Food was delicious, but a little pricey. There were only 3 of us, but the waitress refused to do separate checks
The food and atmosphere was good. Love the band that played on Saturday. Server was slow and one of the wait staff was rude.
If you weren't looking you would miss this place entirely. But hopefully you'll find it and get a good meal. Pan-Asian restaurant in the heart of Utica. We had the Peking ravioli, Pho soup, tuna blast sushi roll, and Khmer Kari meal. The Peking ravioli was is great. The dumpling sauce was a little bland so we had to add some soy sauce. The tuna blast rule was amazing, a little spicy, but that was great! Hubby ate the Khmer Kari meal which was heavy with bell peppers and Curry. The Pho soup was HUGE- very peppery, and the scallions offered a heavy onion taste, not something I would get again (onions don't like me) but not bad soup. Hubby highly recommends the honeydew boba. 👍
Nothing special at all. Certainly was overpriced, more than $50, for an appetizer, sushi, and shrimps with celantro. Bland. Special spicy tuna roll was neither spicy nor special. Waited a long time, kinda odd as I was the only person in the place, other than family.
More and more I realize how low the bar is in Utica, and I don’t want to accept it. Folks rave about this place but I’m not sure what all the hype is. The restaurant itself was quite dirty - splashes and drips on the walls, floors dirty, dusty fixtures, as some examples. The staff was inattentive, leaving finished plates from appetizers and entrees until after we closed our check…. Ordered a second drink after apps and it didn’t come until the check came… it wasn’t crazy busy either but they were just too busy killing time not paying attention to us. The food was mediocre - noodles stuck together badly seemingly I. The cooking process because there was enough sauce to coat and separate them. Vegetables and protein were very little compared to the noodle ratio, skimping cost all around. Flavor was OK - nothing recommendation worthy and we don’t really need to go back.
Worst service I’ve had in my life. My fiancée and I went for date night and as the only gay couple in there for an hour the waitress came to our table 1 time. While I was ordering the waitress asked the table behind us if they wanted another martini. She walked past our table 5-6 times and ignored us each time we tried to get her attention. Never. Again.
Chicken lomein very good. Sushi was good.stated have allergy to spicy, served me poke bowl very gritty. NOT GOOD. owner very rude. Waitress was a cold fish! Never came back or ask if needed anything. Guess u have to understand the food type. I've had amazing poke bowls elsewhere. Not here.
Would NOT recommend for vegans. Served me chicken curry when I ordered tofu. Scraped it off in the back, brought it out 90 seconds later. Tofu was cold in the middle too. I’m usually a pretty happy camper with whatever, but this kind of thing can make people sick. No thanks.
I never like writing this sort of review, but it has to be done. The good: The interior is nice. There's a lovely outdoor dining space, though it had no chair set out, so we didn't know we could sit there. The bartender did her best, though she had no front of house help whatsoever. The Cambodian fish curry- (Amok) was delicious. A bit sweet for my partner, but I loved it. The bad: sadly, pretty much everything else. The spring rolls- whoever made them was unable to roll them properly, as all of them split open and spilled everywhere, all down the top. Use bigger pieces of rice wrapping, maybe. The shrimp tasted off. It tasted old and fishy. I am honestly a little concerned that I may get sick. The XO sauce beef- Oh, this made me so sad. :( I found a few fragments of what might have been dried scallop in it, but it was mostly just a thin, watery, generic brown sauce with oddly sweet tones. The beef itself was WAY too sweet. I don't know what happened to it. I do know it wasn't tenderized in any way, however. It was incredibly tough, dry, overcooked, and grey. It's a shame. A cow died for that. The flat rice noodles (we got the Chinese style ones with shiracha, but I do not remember the menu name) seemed like they must have been really old. They're only good for about half a day after you make them. Either they were cooked and ended up dried out after spending time in a fridge, or they were just undercooked and not separated properly when being stir-fried from the start, as there was a very hard, dry chunk in the middle that seemed uncooked. Almost all the noodles were stuck together in a clump. Chow fun style noodles should be tender, not mushy, and not hard and dry. Two of the dishes we got were supposed to be Chinese food, and if you want to judge the quality of a Chinese restaurant, try their beef and try their flat, wide rice noodles. They are a bit of a challenge to get right, but if the chef cannot make them right, don't bother with anything else either. I was surprised by how good the curry was compared to the rest, but I haven't had Amok before, so I have no Cambodian dining experiences to compare it to. The menu is so incredibly eclectic that it is easy for one to get lost. I see the appeal in having a little something for everyone, and a wide variety of things to try from that you might not have access to anywhere else in central new york, which is not exactly a culinary Mecca. It's easy, however, for such a concept to fall apart in execution. So many different dishes prepared in so many different styles. I would advice refining the best dishes and letting the rest go. Make the menu smaller, and really work hard at making the things you do keep shine, as well as ensure that all the ingredients are fresh. Maybe it'll take less than an hour to prepare the food that way, too.
Really good food!!! So, you have to wonder why I gave it 1 star...lol. Well, that’s how bad the service was tonight. They forgot our appetizers, took 45 minutes to get the main courses, and another 30 mins to chase down a check. Let me say again the food was good.
I had a near death experience here... Ordered the VEGETABLE TEMPURA.. and bit into a shrimp - and I have an anaphylactic allergy to shrimp. I spit it out immediately and ran to the bathroom. The waitress was unconcerned... While I was in the bathroom purging and rinsing my mouth to try and ensure nothing got in my system, she simply asked "is he going to be ok?" Grabbed benadryl from the truck (no epi-pen since none got in me). No apologies, no real concern, no manager... She gave us the bill and said "have a nice day"... The veggie tempura was still on the bill, but I was not in the mood to argue it. Went home to take more benadryl, will NEVER eat there again!
We waited 50 minutes for 3 sushi rolls. When I complained to the waitress and management they told me that I had to wait for my turn. Although we were in the establishment before many other patrons. We were told we could leave if we didn't like it. I wish I could leave no stars.
Very low staff and very long wait
I don’t normally leave bad reviews but I just had such a bad experience here. We did go during the pandemic so I was trying to patient but it didn’t go well and the food was terrible... We were seated outside, 4 adults and 2 kids and asked for a high chair. She said ok but never brought one. We ordered right away as we were hungry and have kids, after 2 more time of asking for a high chair over the next 15 minutes my mom just went inside and got it herself. There was only one other family sitting outside so didn’t look busy. My drink came out right away. The high chair straps were broken so not helpful at all. After 30 min of no food the waitress came out to say our food would be delayed as they were short staffed on the kitchen. I asked if she could bring anything to help tie over my kids, even a cracker, something Easy she said she didn’t know ( I started to wonder if she understood English). My husband and I walked 15 min to a Stewart’s to buy snacks for our now screaming crying child. Our food still wasn’t there when we’ve returned. After nearly 90 min of waiting food came out it was bland and tasteless and every dish lacked vegetables!! Advertised with veggies and yet mine was just noodles and tofu and my moms fried rice was just rice and broccoli. It was all bad, same for the pad Thai. My husbands meal just never came when after asking so we finally just paid ate 3 bites each and brought our distraught family home. I’ll never be back. Be warned.
Went there before a show at the Stanley. Got appetizer and salad quick, entrees took over an hour. Wound up getting them to go. Good food but terrible service, I’ll never go back
In the restaurant business you are only as good as your last meal! I use to love Lotus Garden and the food is good 99% of the time but the service is terrible. I have never been turned away for service after calling 3 minutes before and been told I could order from the hot menu but the sushi menu was done for the day. So when I walked in to place my order I was told by a different employee that I couldn't! Which didn't help that she was rude about it even though I explained that I was told I could by somebody else when I called 3 minutes ago!!!! If you don't know how to deal with customer maybe you are in the wrong business. I will NEVER patronage this establishment EVER!!!!!!!
I can't in good faith give this place more than one star. The service took forever and a table of 6 that sat down after us got their meals before us. In addition, I received the wrong meal (shrimp) instead of chicken. I said I'd eat it but they should have at least apologized or taken some portion of the bill. They clearly need to work on staffing. The food was decent but how can I rate a chicken dish when I got shrimp? Then when asked to split the bill the lady said "you should have told me before sorry." No I'm sorry that I'll never be back and I'm sorry how embarrassing it must be to operate a business this way.
*Terrible Food and Unreasonable Service* I recently visited this restaurant with a group of 5 friends, and our experience was terrible. The food was the worst part - it was not worth the money we paid. However, the customer service was even more disappointing. When we asked our server to split the check by 5, they seemed hesitant and reluctant. After multiple requests, they finally told us that we would have to go to the front desk to pay, which was completely unreasonable. It's baffling that they couldn't just bring the separate checks to our table or handle the split payment there. Forcing us to walk all the way to the front desk was inconvenient and frustrating. Given our terrible experience with both the food and service, I would give this restaurant a rating of “ZERO”. It's clear that they need to work on improving their customer service and food quality. *Rating: 0/5* *Will not recommend or return.*
I came here to eat while traveling throughout upstate New York and I would not recommend going here. The service was horrible, the bartender did not even acknowledge me when I first came in but was on her phone texting saying “someone will be with me shortly” I had to wait for a waitress to sit me down at the bar side of the restaurant and then could have cared less about me getting a refill or checking in on me.. the bartender did not even try to have a conversation with me. The food was decent but it is not authentic as it says it is… the only thing I really enjoyed was the cocktails. The only time I felt acknowledged was when I was brought my food by the other waitresses and they asked me if I needed anything else. Other than that I would not waste my time going here again.
Be careful, the wait staff here eavesdrop on your private table conversations. Expect any and all remarks about the lack of courtesy from the restaurant owner, lack of accommodations for guests and generally poor quality of service to be relayed back to the egotistical owner. Don't expect the owner to ask what she can do to make sure you have a more positive experience at her restaurant. Instead, she will yell at you and cause a scene in front of all of the other patrons at the restaurant, refusing to let you leave without humiliating you and your party. Customer satisfaction is not a prioritiy over the owner's ego at Lotus Garden.
I used to go here regularly but this place and their servers have been very disappointing lately. They don't care about Hygiene at all and they are going to get your order wrong and then say “you asked for this”
Had the worst experience ever at Lotus. The minute we sat down there were ants crawling on the table, and flies flying around us the entire meal. The service was non-existent. It took 15 minutes before a server came to the table for our drink order. Food took forever and was terrible. We brought home the leftovers and our teenage daughter and dog wouldn't even eat it. We had to beg to get our check and actually try to leave. Never going back.
