First time going to Tangie's Kitchen, picked up some food for my son, He ate everything and said the food was great. Also note that service was on point and they have excellent customer service. Will be going back very soon.

Just an amazing throw back to all my favorite child hood foods. So worth the 10 pounds I packed on last time I was visiting Rochester. Believe it or not, they don't do it like this in Richmond Virginia! 😯

GREAT "FOOD" excellent (customer service) and the food is worth sitting in your car inline waiting for, maybe want to leave kids home line gets long sometime. I miss going inside to eat and seeing "Mrs.Tangie" Big Beautiful comforting smile even as she works continuously through out the Day on Her feet in that Hott kitchen putting Love into her dishes for "Us" all. We visited Tangie’s for the first time today, and the food was excellent. I have seen posts of people complaining about the lack of availability of the full menu, but they had plenty to pick from anyway. We would definitely go back.

Simply the best food in Rochester. Been going there for several years now and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the meatloaf, smothered pork chops, T-bone steak. Last visit I had the best pot roast ever.

I had been looking for a good Oxtail place and i think i found it. The food was fantastic!!!! the Mac & Cheese was outstanding! I had been hearing about Tangie's for a while. I was served by Melody and she was very courteous and patient. I am originally from Harlem, New York and i think Tangie's has got Sylvia's beat by a land slide.

Each time that I've been to Tangie's Kitchen I have been totally satisfied with my food. I always get the oxtails, and they are as tender as tender can be, in a beautifully seasoned, rich, dark, delicious gravy/sauce. I love that their vegetables, including the string beans, mixed beans, cabbage and collard greens, have chunks of meat in them, plus other goodies, like chunks of white potato in the string beans. Yummy. I am not a big mac and cheese person, but today I got the mac and cheese, which was fresh out of the oven and looked seriously good, and it was great. I moved to Rochester from New York City, where you can get good soul food from many different places, but I would put Tangie's Kitchen up there with the very best of them, no doubt! I am so glad there is a Tangie's Kitchen!

Food was excellent. Employees was nice. There was no menu provided. They explained that they've been out of them for a long time. I like to have a menu so I can take my time to see what's being offered. This saves me time when I get to the window.

My lady never had Tangys' before, she had a bad review of this restaurant from Facebook posts. I said baby try it for yourself, and its definitely changed her mind. We've had fried pork chops, turkey wings, and drums, also turkey necks. Mac and cheese and cabbage, greens. There's not many Soul food restaurants in Rochester, she's one of the best.. I'm from the south, and this is real stick-to-your-ribs soul food. The price is worth the portions and flavor you get. You can't be picky, because what's on offer varies from day to day. Staff is always friendly, but I think they only offer drive thru right now.

I don't have an issue with this place. The food was great. Each meal is enough for two normal sized people. It's probably enough for two large people like myself but I can't share my plate from Tan. Each meal includes rice and a cornbread muffin and your choice of two sides.

I enjoyed my visit, the staff when you arrive, very pleasant, but it seemef the greeter was being rushed, by who I assume was the boss. Fussing at the staff in front of the customers was not professional. My food was awrsome otherwise. I only mention this bc it happened before when I visited.

I love the food. They just need to update the hours online. I came there one day going based off the online hours, got all the way inside just for them to tell me they were closed for another hour or so.

They have very very good food which I've only been there once. The food is home cooked and the place be so crowded because I think their open for like three days out of the week. They have a different variety of foods and meat. It's that down home food but it is very good

Today was out first visit to Tangie's. The woman who took my order was so pleasant and directed me how to place my order. The food looked delicious. When it came to cash out the lady at the register I think may have been tired she wasn't pleasant like the first lady , she wasn't rude either but she lacked personality. As for the food looking good I was hoping it tasted just as good.... Yes it most definitely did. We will be back. I feel extra let down after eating the food because they didn't have any peach cobbler and that would have took the meal over the top. Great Job Tangie's.

The food was okay I ordered Fried Porkchops, Lima Beans, White Rice, Macaroni & Cheese, and a Corn Muffin. The pork chops were fried too hard and the lime beans were dry it didnt have enough juice over the rice. Maybe next time I'll tell them to put more gravy from the beans on the rice. Overall it was doable. Will try again to see how the other food will taste.

I ordered a beef rib plate/combo with mac n' cheese, and collard greens. The bbq sauce was too sweet for me, but the ribs were tender, I didn't really like the rice. Overall the greens and mac n' cheese and beef ribs were delicious.

Awesome food. Great service. Sometimes they may run out of something you're craving but will have something just as good to replace it. My only complaint is the size of the ordering area.

After a not so good experience my first time going there and getting home to eat the food, i called and explained and they really turned the experience into a better one. Food is great. Owner is very nice! Would highly recommend!

I went on a Sunday, for the first time. It was super busy! The wait time wasn't bad for how busy they were. The selections are plentiful, the quality & quantity of food is perfect! I'll be back(in Arnold's voice) lol

Going here is a weird experience but if you stick through the discomfort or no menu, no instruction and no listed prices you will be rewarded with a HUGE meal for about $15 and really delicious home made food. Mac and cheese was incredible. Dining area could use some cleaning and repairs. Will definitely be back to split this meal with someone next time.

This must be “The” spot for soul food because no lie every time I’ve tried to go while in Rochester it’s crowd. Through all of crowd the service is still good. The menu is not overwhelming and the most of the food is laid out in front of you to see. I had the yams which were amazing, the strings beans and chicken were both good as well. Prices are not that bad either, definitely get a decent bang for your buck.

The prices continue to go up and the portions are still the same. The mac and cheese does not taste the same. The meatloaf is still great. Customer service has gotten better

The beef ribs was thin cut: small serving every little meat on the bone. The vegetables was good. The yams not homemade, they was from the can.

The food is getting worse and worse. 3 stars only because I like the crew and Tangie has always been nice. For the prices they need to get back to what made that name synonymous with Soul food in Rochester

I have been going to Tangies since they were located on Lake. The food is still good, very wide selection. My one issue now is how they skimp on the sides. They put less in the dinners and individual side price has gone up slightly, while the portion size has been cut in half. When you purchase just a small side, they now put a side in a cup the side of an ice cream scooper and charge you $3+ dollars!! A large is $7+!! It’s also now hard to track their pricing, because the monitors maybe showing something different than the menu with prices. I hope you don’t continue down this path Tangie’s, you have established yourself as a good take-out spot for Soul Food in Rochester.

I came here to order food a few times. Throughout my pregnancy I have craved soul food.. I waited a hour for overly sweet yams. There's a guy in there that stares at just about every woman that comes in... not cool other than that I live the meats seasoned to perfection

Went yesterday, excited due to review's....place was semi-crowded, which I thought was good. Staff was very nice and friendly. I ordered the beef tips, greens and sweet potatoes. Beef sauce was good but, meat was not tender. Greens and sweet potatoes were pretty good, they neglected to give me a muffin. Rice needed more sauce. I will try the oxtails and give them another chance. Hopefully I can give give five stars then.

I called over the phone to place an order & when I got there to pick it up she tells me it will be 2 hours .. so I wasted my gas & time driving there ! They are losing business because they now open at 2pm instead of 1pm like previously. I’ve called several times wanting to get some food after church and they are not open. That’s over $100 they’ve lost just from me. Who knows how much more money they’ve lost. Please wake up earlier and open back up at 1pm!

I went in the evening. Food was cold. I ordered fried chicken wings, mac and cheese and yams. The fried chicken tasted old. Was also more expensive than necessary. I would not recommend.

When your at the counter the food looks delicious & you want to try everything. I baught five sides, three meats and dessert. I really liked the turkey necks that was used to season the greens, thats it! I felt like Ide just wasted $54. This is my 3rd purchase because I was trying to give it a chance. There will be NO more chances.

I went there yesterday for the first time..the food was good ..but there was no price list....when I asked how much items cost the response was "it depends on what meat you get" ...this is not good business.. they have a price list on the back side of the building, as if they were set up for a drive-thru. ANY WHERE ELSE you go there is a menu and price list posted INSIDE....They all need training in the area of Customer Service....Yes the food is good but Good Customer Service will keep people coming back...as for me, I don't plan on returning.

Has potential. Location okay, store appeal is -1. In my opinion it could have been successful. It just looks like Tangie depends on family for employees and they dont take the family business seriously.

Went there last week and only got sides but yet I still had to pull in the parking spot and wait which felt like forever even though they said it would be a 10 min wait. They came across cocky, like I needed their business more than they needed mine which is why I don’t support a lot of these businesses. The yams just wasn’t it for me. It had a nasty out the can taste. I rarely ever throw soul food away but this time I did. Don’t plan on ever going back.

This saddens me to write this because I’ve been a customer of Tangie’s since she was on Ravine days. But after tonight’s experience and having this experience twice before I’m going to have to put her down. Ordered 2 chicken dinners and They didn’t have collard greens for sides, so I ordered cabbage after 15-20mins of waiting for my food,The cook comes out and tells me he doesn’t have enough chicken for both dinners and asked did I want something else so I got pork chops 🙄 after getting home I noticed they gave me string beans instead of cabbage I ordered like come on! With the price of their dinners going up to $20 that is too high to be messing up ppls orders and giving mediocre customer service.

Collard greens way to salty and didn't think the food was worth the price. Paid 40$ for 2 takeout dinners. The Mac and cheese was very good though. Ribs were more bones than meat.

Heard great things about Tangie's so I wanted to try it. I was confused from the lack of a menu inside (how is anyone supposed to be prepared for their order? Especially new customers? Unprepared people that take time to make an order irritates workers, and then bad customer service follows. Think about it). I was completely disappointed they were out of banana pudding which was the primary reason I drove outta my way to go there. Not a good first impression so far...

Food was good!! But they did charge me 32 and some change. For a 8pc wing dinner and a small side of mac and cheese.

30 Dollars for a very Salty oxtails dinner but at least this time it wasn't all bones. If you have high BP stay away. And no this wasn't my first time visiting but it will be my last. Someone there is very heavy on the salt.

Heard and read good reviews so decided to visit while in the Roc. Opened the door, was greeted by a very rude woman stating "Drive Thru Only". Again, I've never been here before, there was a nice older woman who was willing to take my order, however, the angry rude woman said NO.. I MUST GO TO THE DRIVE THRU. (No signage to indicate this). I asked for a menu to look at before I pull up with a car load of 6 people to place an order at a window with a menu barely visible. It was very NOT PLEASANT... After returning to my car, a guy came out to try to explain to me "Their Policy". The rude woman then comes to the door yelling... IM NOT RUDE.. ITS JUST DRIVE THRU ONLY.. Again, her attitude and approach was not one of good customer service at all... I WILL NEVER SPEND MY MONEY WHERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT GOOD. Just leaves me to wonder, if that's your policy, why have the doors unlocked, dinig tables & chairs? NO SIGNAGE?.. NO MENUS?? May want to reconsider going there.. I dont care how good the food is.. Customers are the ones who will keep you in business...

So the people were really nice but I will say this food the mac & cheese was OK just a little bit too wet for me the chicken was fried to perfection but can I say this lighten up on the seasoning it was very salty the collard greens was extremely salty I couldn’t even eat them I don’t know why people don’t know once you add the Soft pork or Smoke whatever that’s already salted so you have to be careful on how you season your greens the cornbread was terrible and it was jiffy mix which I’m fine but it’s just like how do you mess up jiffy mix well I go back again I’m not sure it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good Have a good one have a good one

I drove up to Rochester to try BoBo chicken shack so delicious by the way. Someone had recommended that we try the sides here at Tangie. So we decided to try it. The employees were not so professional. What really upset me was one employee left and went to her car then came back inside didn’t wash her hands but she bringing us our food. I just didn’t get a good vibe from this establishment. I got macaroni and cheese and collard greens. I think I would like the Mac&cheese if it was fresh because the flavor was there but it was just okay. The collard greens were good though it don’t come with corn bread so I mix it with my cornbread from BoBo.

$20 fish dinner? Craft mac & cheese? Thought it'd be baked. Service not so friendly. Im sorry. We have a family of 7. 😔

food was very salty ... mac was salty, collard greens were salty and cube steak very salty. I feel like I have high blood pressure with a headache from just eating the food. my fiancé didn't want to go here for this same reason from a previous experience we had. Went there twice, my husband and i looked at each other the 1st time , and we was like i should've cooked, smh. I gave it a try again had heart burn for 2 days. The yams was a sweet potatoe pie with out crust and diabetes waiting 2 happen, sorry but majority of my fam had diabetes, i was not going 2b in that number. 2 222 Much sugar . Nice service but the food was too oily. Yes its soul food. Meaning its suppose to make you feel better..not worst. Nice customer service but not a fan of the food. Tangie's Kitchen more like Tangie's garbage. The cashier was rude on unknowledgeable about the food that she was cashing people out to eat. And don't get me on the food. The oxtails were mostly fat, and the yams had to much cinnamon or nutmeg in them. Oh and the dessert tasted stale like its been setting there since she moved off of Lake Ave. I mean for someone who supposably moved up since leaving the corner of lake Aveune, Ravine Street I really can't tell from the food and lack of customer service I received today. I don't even think she deserves one star in this review step your game up lady..... 😷👎💩

First when they went to cash me out they didn't have a receipt. After they charge my card double to the point I had to give cash back. Good thing they are kind and honest people. After that innocent mistake, I had to wait an hour for my food and they kept saying in 5 minutes. After receiving my food it wasn't worth the wait and it made me sick for 2 days .

I’ve visited this place a few times now, wanting to support small black owners businesses. Good is good, however customer service isn’t. I called the order in a head of time understanding that due to the pandemic we won’t be able to go inside. Got to the establishment and waited in line for over a half hour. There’s no speaker to take your order, you have to wait until you get to the window. When it was finally our turn I gave them my name for the order and they told us they sold our food. We explained that we waited for over 30 minutes and the owner comes to the window explaining that they don’t take orders over the phone. She went back to see if there greens left and long story short she sent someone else to the window to say that they pretty much ran out of the food we ordered originally. This business is extremely unprofessional, and unorganized. It’s very sad because we want to see small businesses prosper especially during these unprecedented times.

I used to consider Tangies as a treat for myself every so often but after yesterday, never again. The customer service is awful and the young skinny black girl serving the food had the nastiest attitude when I was asking if there was anymore Roast, collard greens or yams in the back. I get the same thing EVERY TIME I go. They weren’t in the Least bit accommodating. And the damn owner acted like she didn’t know what was left inside her own restaurant. She wasn’t even willing to tell the cooks to prepare what I wanted and it was 2 hours before they closed. Never going back. I’ll spend my money elsewhere and make sure tell people to do the same!? I hate when a business forgets that it’s the consumer that keeps their businesses operating. Treat everyone as if you don’t give a flip and you won’t have a business.

Was so not happy with my food 2/19/23 severs me leftover scraps from meatloaf because that’s what my plate is giving. She never got collard greens and food really isn’t the best that I’ve had from her. My husband’s meal was lacking meat but serves us so much rice that the container is giving a heavy weight size of food. Sides are trash Mac n cheese and green beans have no seasoning. Corn bread probably made from yesterday. I will no longer be spending my money on something I can truly make for my own home. $51 dollars down the drain.

Let’s just say this. Was suppose to be open at 11am. So I arrived at 3pm place didn’t open to 3:07pm understandable due to Covid. Menu has all prices crossed out with no prices listed. Finally went to order and none of the food I wanted was ready. Smh was another 20 min wait so I left. Lady came outside worried about where people was parked with an attitude when the concern should of been the food begin ready

I ordered a Veggie Dinner and I got small portions of cabbage, yams,baked beans with ground beef in it(a Veggie Dinner SMH),2 pie es of corn on the cob which amounted to a half an ear, a lot of rice, and 2 muffins. I couldn't believe they charged me 17.30 for that(I couldn't eat the beans because they had meat in it ). When I bought dinners from there when I was eating meat,the dinners cost less that that. I was very disappointed and will never go back.

Absolutely loved this place back when they were on Lake. Great food, great people. Last time we came through they had the inside closed for some reason so we couldn't go in. For someplace that's setup the way it is, it's frustrating not being able to see what's available. Would help if the outside menu was updated as they run out of things but it's not so you play back and forth over the speaker. We paid extra for a side we didn't get it and the beans were salty AF. Even if you come right at 5 most the time they are out of the good stuff like smothered chops or oxtail. And I don't understand why it's takes 15 minutes plus to package up food that's already hot and ready. Idk what happened after the move but another spot ruined IG. Wish y'all the best.

Customer service was horrible, website says they open at 2pm and was told to come back at 3 because they weren’t ready to serve, even then were told again they weren’t ready to serve. No fried chicken and had to wait 20 minutes for Mac and cheese. I drove 45 minutes to come here and wasted two hours.

I was genuinely disappointed with my recent experience. The quality was simply unacceptable, leaving me feeling quite frustrated. I expected much more from Tangie’s, especially considering their reputation. I hope they take this feedback seriously and strive to improve in the future.

Food was okay. Nothing extraordinary. Typical service for this type of establishment. Most menu items were not available. The deserts tasted store bought and not homemade. The cabbage was freshly cooked and good. The lima beans where over seasoned and obviously from a can. Probably wont visit again. 28 dollars for smothered pork chops with white rice cabbage and lima beans and a box made corn muffin and a piece of store bought cake was kinda ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 piece wing dinner and banana pudding cost 35 dollars, that same meal including the banana pudding would have cost 22 dollars at Nellies on Jefferson avenue and it would’ve been a 8 piece meal with more rice
