Opinions de Genesee Brewhouse Rochester
This is a Rochester gem! Absolutely LOVED the experience and wanted more! The venue itself is absolutely fantastic. Historic building in the heart of downtown WITH PLENTY OF ADJACENT PARKING!!! What a way to live!!?? I really wish we'd come much earlier so we could have toured the facility. I'm sure it's a great tour. So many impressive historical displays around the facility and the place is clearly still a working brewery. So cool! Then the flight showed up! The 12 Horse Ale, Scotch Ale, and Vanilla Porter were such pleasant surprises! I mean, I came in knowing what Genny, Genny Light, and Cream Ale are. They're solid regional beers. No one's going searching for them, but they're good. I've grown accustomed to anticipating the Ruby Red releases in the warm months, but I had no idea that Genny had this kind of depth. And finally, the wings! I'm no Buffalo Wing expert, but I've had my share and I know what's good. These wings absolutely meet the standard for Western NY. The sauce (mild with a side of hot) was brilliant and absolutely reminiscent of the old school Anchor Bar and Duff's sauce. The real deal. Bar service and greetings by staff in the gift shop were so welcoming! We loved our experience and I'm pretty sure we'll be back! Thanks for making a good night even better!
Genesee Brew House is a staple. The roots of it's many beers grow deep in the City of Rochester and represents so much of this regions characterand community. Their beer is always top notch, the food is never disappointing, the staff is always knowledgeable about everythingon the menu, and the lower level store is a destinationof its own. The many events hosted here are always fun, and the views of the Genesee River are spectacular. Boy, could I go for a Genny....
This is really a fun place to go for either lunch or dinner. You must make time to spend in the store/museum. So much to see. We had a fun waitress and the food was pretty darn good. I had a very dark porter beer and my friend had a hard cider. Yeah I know a cider at the brewery, what can you do? Unfortunately the weather was lousy so we couldn't spend much time out on the bridge but did walk out to take a few pictures.
Best place to have a beer! The view from the roof is outstanding. Only place you can get 12 Horse Ale. Come on Genny start selling this again! And don't forget the merch@
Came to the Brew House for the first time after going to the Strong Museum for the first time in years. The place was packed, and we were given a 60-90min wait but were sat within 20 minutes. Had a delicious reuben and the girlfriend enjoyed her dish. Wish they had a full bar for those who don't like beer, but at least they had some nice ciders. Would absolutely go back
My brother and I visited the Genesee Brew House recently. It was a pilgrimage of sorts in honor of our father, who was a big fan of Genesee Cream Ale. The food and service were excellent. We both had the Dog Plate and it was extremely tasty. From our flight of beers we raised a glass of Cream Ale to the old man and tried the 12 Horse, Citrus, and Vanilla Porter which were all very good. This place also offers tours and had one of the largest gift shops I've ever been in. It offered souvenirs of all kinds at reasonable prices. On top of everything else it has a rooftop terrace with unobstructed views of High Falls. Highly recommend!
Whether you live here or are visiting Rochester, this is without a doubt the place to eat. It's casual, the food is always good, the atmosphere is congenial, and the view of the high falls is simply wonderful. Any time of the day, you'll enjoy it.... from the restaurant to the roof to the gift shop to the tasting room, it's just a joy. Therefore,go and enjoy
Always a great experience! The food is delicious and the service is spot on delightful. My father in law and I both both being Veterans, received not only a discount on our lunch, but we also were gifted an etched Thank You For You Service pint glass. Thank you for your support Genesee!
Oldest Brewery in New York State. Amazing experience love going here for the 4 dollar pints and a pretzel. Huge bar and many tables for dinning, decent food options. The shop downstairs is awesome with great options for everyone. Sweet place to bring people who are from out of town. Good spot to meet friends and family.
We decided to take a day trip to the brewery from Buffalo. It's really easy getting to the brew house and there was plenty of parking. The location is great, right on top of the gorge above the river. We went in right away and got a table for two, ordered a few brew house only drafts (helles for me, grape pilsner for my fiancee). Both were fresh and delicious. Our appetizer came out quickly. Very tasty flatbread with pears, goat cheese, balsamic. We enjoyed that for a bit and then ordered our late lunch. I had a garbage plate that was massive. Our server informed me that I could combine the burger/dog option so I went with that. Fiancee had a sausage hoagie, also good. We then took the tour and that was fun. Took about an hour and we got a 15% off card for the merch store. There's so much to choose from there! After all that, we had another beer on the rooftop, then went down to the bar for a flight. We wrapped up our 4 hour day by getting crowlers to go. Wonderful day indeed!
The Genesee Brew House regularly appears on online lists of the best places to eat in Rochester and for good reason. The food and drinks are absolutely delicious and the service is very friendly. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant has amazing views of High Falls and downtown which makes for a very nice dining experience.
Wow, we really, really liked this place a lot. Didn't even realize it was there until we pulled in the parking lot for the High Falls terrace. I would have liked a tour, but they said they didn't have any ar that time. There is basically a museum with all kinds of history on the lower level with the gift shop. And, the gift shop has everything and anything you can think of, and good prices. Had to have a beer with my meal since it's a brewery. The flatbreads we got were good as we went out of our comfort zones to try something different.
Ryan and his team do a phenomenal job at what is an absolute staple, MUST stop in Rochester, NY. Massive gift shop, brewery right in the building, huge bar and balcony dining as well as a rooftop overlooking the falls and ample parking which is rare for any downtown city location. Food and beer served with a smile. These guys have it all figured out. Can't wait to be back there again!
Even for a Friday night we got seated pretty fast for 3 people. The place was definitely very busy. The downstairs offers a “gift” shop and you can order drinks at the bar area. Our waitress was so sweet. I said surprise with my wine cooler as I liked both flavors. Food was served pretty fast even with the amount of people there. Myself and daughter had the “grown” up grilled cheese and husband had a “brew house” plate. All the food was so good.

Went for early lunch with coworkers. We reserved a table since there were so many of us. This place fills up fast so keep that in mind. I had the crabcake salad which was delicious!! I'm going back…
Our waiter gave us our drinks then gave us time to look at the menu. Then a large family gets seated and gives them their drinks. I always put my menu down so the waiter doesn't think I'm still trying to decide. 13 minutes go by and he goes over to the large family table and takes their orders. I was in disbelief, we've been waiting to place our orders before they got seated. So he finally walks towards us and I'm thinking he's going to take our orders now. Nope. He just gets to our table looks at my husband and makes a hard right turn to the outside tables. Now, I'm pissed. I go up to the hostess and tell her what happened. She was surprised but said she'd come take our orders. Our waiter sees her at our table starting to take our order and he comes right over. He didn't say anything. Our orders were placed and came out shortly after. The food was amazing. We got the Poutine which was seasoned just right. Other places make it too salty. We each ordered a plate. The fries were really good and the mac salad was probably the best I've had at any other place. It actually had some flavor to it! We'll definitely be back.
First timer! Went for the history and the beer and to watch the game. It was a Buffalo Bills game night on Thursday. They close at 10p. Don't stay open even for the Bills! Asked why, bartender replied, nobody wants to be in the area after 10p. Ok? I ordered a flight plus a couple additional beers. Ordered their Beef on Weck, a western NY staple. Not great. The salt and caraway seed all feel on to plate. It wasn't a Kaiser Roll IMO. They appear to use their hamburger roll and top it with caraway & salt without an egg wash & 4 min oven bake to make it stick. The beef was not exciting, more average.. Disappointed.
Good beer, good food, great views... I love Rochester in January when it's cold and rainy!

Great experience & ambience. Fun shop & museum with a great rooftop view (get your order in a plastic cup). Large portions but the plates had no vegetable sides. Great drink selections.

A friend recommended Genesee Brew House after I mentioned wanting to check out downtown Rochester. We ordered the mushroom burger and the Spaetzle Mac & Cheese. Maybe my expectations were a bit high because it came so highly recommended, but overall, I was disappointed. The burger was overcooked, and for $17 I was surprised it came with chips instead of fries. You can substitute fresh fries, but it costs an extra $3, which feels a bit much. The mac & cheese had good cheese flavor, but it was so heavy and rich that it was hard to finish — it tasted more like something reheated in a microwave than freshly made. The service was also just average — not terrible, but not particularly friendly or attentive either. The view from the place is nice, but for the food quality, service, and price, I don’t think it’s worth it. If I go back, I’ll probably try something else on the menu.
This was my second time here. The first time was earlier this year for work travel. It was OK and convenient so tried it again yesterday with colleagues. My food (chicken pesto naan) was very good.…

Genesee Brewhouse: Rochester's Cozy Corner with a View
There are some spots in Rochester that just feel right, no matter the weather. Genesee Brewhouse is absolutely one of them. You know those blustery January days, when the city is doing its best impression of a winter wonderland (or just a cold, grey one)? That’s exactly when a visit to the Brewhouse hits differently. Multiple folks I know rave about settling in, pint in hand, soaking up the incredible views, even when it’s cold and rainy outside. It’s a testament to the warmth and spirit insi...
